I downloaded texlive on Windows from the the July 2011 Tex Collection dvd. Latex works fine, but I get the following error message when I try to run Context: ConTeXt: problems after [0] pages Is there some sort of postcompilation I need to do to get Context running? Regards, Philip Brown

xml attribute conditional

All, I have a conditional expression that checks to see if the current node has any ancestor whose xml:id attribute matches a string \xmldoifelse{#1}{ancestor::div[@xml:id='apr_engl']} What I need is a test to see if the current node has any ancestor whose xml:id attribute _contains_ a substring. Something like this: \xmldoifelse{#1}{ancestor::div[ @xml:id contains('_engl')]} trying this: \xmldoifelse{#1}{ancestor::div[ contains(@xml:id, '_engl')]} got me this error: ! LuaTeX error < local expr = xml.expressions...>:3: bad argument #1 to 'contains' (string expected, got nil) any suggestions? Jon

Bibliography: `\setupheadtext[de][pubs=Quellen]` does not update the table of contents.

Dear ConTeXt folks, the following minimal example changes the default text for the title for the publication list [1]. In the table of content there is still the default name though. \mainlanguage[de] \setupbibtex[database=sample, sort=author] \setuppublications[alternative=apa, criterium=all] % Show reference numbers in the generated list. \setupheadtext[de][pus=Quellen] \starttext \completecontent \section{Example} As \cite[hh2010b] already indicated, bibtex is a \LaTeX-centric program. \blank[4*big] \CONTEXT\ \contextmark\ \contextversion \completepublications \stoptext A solution for this problem would be much appreciated. Is there a way to access a document global variable from Lua? I will use this to replace the REFREF text. 2. v.references.realpage isn't the actual page of the title. How can I access the page number that would have appeared in the ToC? (I've restarted the page numbering in my master doc, the above example works fine) 3. Is there a way to store some metadata along with my title? I'd like something similar to this: \myheader[author=me, date=2011-12-14]{This is my header with meta-data} and then be able to access it from Lua again. Thanks for any help you can give with this. Mailing list archive (archive.contextgarden.net) will be down or at least not updated

Hello, We are moving the mail server from Germany to Jožef Stefan Institute in Ljubljana and would like to let you know that mailing list archive won't be updated when that happens. So: copy of mailing list archive (archive.contextgarden.net) won't be updated for at least some time, but there is also a chance that it will be completely replaced by a different solution. Not that it would be technically impossible to continue updating it, but I think that setting up mailing lists has a much higher priority at the moment than old archives (which are much better at gmane.org anyway). We will get new mailing lists on the new server soon (some of them for members of ConTeXt Group, http://group.contextgarden.net, some of them for distribution etc.) If anyone has any thoughts about this, you may write me off-list (I will post a summary to the mailing list later on). The list ntg-context at ntg.nl won't be moved due to longstanding tradition at ntg.nl, but we will move some mailing lists from obscure locations such as launchpad (where we had a mailing list for binary builders). Mojca (There is no reason to take lurker down at this moment, but we are somehow afraid that people would rely on it returning the latest mails.)

Preserving Output Files

Hey list, I've searched the list, but couldn't seem to dig up anything that I thought was relevant. How do I get ConTeXt to preserve all files necessary to run the same invocation of LuaTeX it executed when it was run. As an example, when I run the following... $ context Source/Handbook.tex --result=Handbook.pdf ...it says that it ran the following... luatex --fmt="/home/kip/.texmf-var/luatex-cache/context/e570cb3e0e3ab0118ca08dd148bbec7d/formats/cont-en" --lua="/home/kip/.texmf-var/luatex-cache/context/e570cb3e0e3ab0118ca08dd148bbec7d/formats/cont-en.lui" --backend="pdf" "Handbook.tex" If I run the same luatex command on its own, it cannot find the temporary working files passed to it in its parameters. How to create horizontal line for signature?

Dear ConTeXt folks, sometimes you need to insert a line for signature. I could not find anything usefull especially `\underbar{\hspace[10*\big]}` [2] did not work. I ended up abusing `\framed` [3]. \starttext \startstandardmakeup[align=right] Alles rechtens. Everything is fine and nobody cheated. \blank[medium] London, den 28.\,June 2011 \blank[3*big] \framed[width=5cm, frame=off, topframe=on]{\small John Doe} \stopstandardmakeup \stoptext The down side is, that its widths is not perfectly aligned with the location and date. I guess there is something simpler to do it. I looked at Wolfgang’s letter module but could not figure out how it is done there. Something like the examples posted for LaTeX on Stack Exchange [3] for ConTeXt would be nice. gnuplot module: `option=monochrome` does not work.

Initials / DroppedCaps

KOMA-srcartcl Type Area: How to count header and footer to text area?

The only way I found out to achieve that was setting `\footdistance=0`. Is that the “correct” way to comply with the KOMA-Script type area recommendation? Please find the adapted example attached.
