section numbers

Hi all, I could have sworn there was a thread recently about the same question, but can't find it: I want section numbers without the prefixed chapter number. Isn't this supposed to work? \setuphead[section] [previousnumber=no] \starttext \chapter{One} \section{one} I was expecting the section to be numbered 1, not 1.1! \stoptext It prints "1.1" both in mkii and mkiv. What is the magic bullet? Thanks Thomas

Context & emacs-muse [possibly OT]

Hello, I'm using emacs-muse to write a document to be published to ConTeXt. The document contains a little math. According to this wiki page: http://wiki.contextgarden.net/ConTeXt_and_emacs-muse#Math it is possible to include math in muse using <math> and </math> tags, which trigger corresponding $ markup in the ConTeXt output. The problem is that a muse expression like <math>\sum type = nMn</math> is published as \switchtobodyfont[small]math\switchtobodyfont[big]\textbackslash{}sum type = nMn\switchtobodyfont[small]/math\switchtobodyfont[big] rather than the expected $\sum type = nMn$. The muse manual for the version I'm using (3.12) makes no mention of the <math> tags, so I'm wondering if it is an add-on written by (or available to) someone on this list. embed fonts

Hi all, this seems like a very basic question, but I haven't found anything on the wiki and in the archive: I'm typesetting a book with mkiv, and the printer wants all fonts completely embedded. I knew how to do this in mkii, but what about mkiv? (Btw, I'm using \enableprotruding and \enableadjusting, would this make any difference for embedding the fonts?) Thanks, and all best Thomas

Hi List, I'm trying to setup a new document in Context, and a newbee, so I now want to setup the section head as following § Secnum - Sectitle Where the § Secnum part is set up in the margin and the Sectitle over the Text is there any solution how to get it done? Greetings Martin

highlighting chars on a path

Hello, I am new to ConTeXt and I have looked on the internet for a way to do something special. Unfortunately I have not found any solution. I hope this is the right place for such a question. I apologise otherwise. I would like to highlight (e.g. put in bold, or change the color...) any character on a page which sits on a chosen path. I would like to be able to position for instance an invisible circle on a page and have all the characters "in contact" with this circle change color so that the circle become visible via these characters. Is it something I could do with ConTeXt? Thanks in advance. Aurelien

[MP] labels of points on a circle

Hi all, To draw 9 points with labels, I used the following code. \startbuffer[point2] path p; numeric i; i=1; for j =0.5,1.3,2.5,3,4,4.8,6,7.2,7.9: z[i] = dir(j*45) scaled 4cm; i:= i+1; endfor; p := z1..z2..z3..z4..z5..z6..z7..z8..z9..cycle; draw p; drawpoints p; drawpointlabels p; \stopbuffer \placefigure[middle][]{}{\processMPbuffer[point2]} Then it draw everything well except writing labels inside the circle. How can I write the labels of the points outside of the circle? I'd like to draw 9 points randomly on a circle. Is there a nice way to do it? Thank you. Best regards, Dalyoung

first-setup mtxrun error on Intel Mac

Dear All, I run Mac OS X 10.6 (Intel) running first-setup.sh (in empty dir, if that matters) results in /Users/master/context.new/bin/mtxrun:5416: attempt to index global 'tex' (a nil value) Any ideas? Sincerely, Michail

Combining \sc and \em

Hi, Under the latest beta (2009.10.02 13:14), it doesn't seem possible to access \SerifCapsSlanted by combining the \em and \sc font switches. The following test case demonstrates this: --- \definefont [SlantyCaps][SerifCapsSlanted] \starttext {\em Italics works.} \par {\sc Small caps works.} \par {\em \sc But how do we combine them?} \par {\SlantyCaps Except like this?} \stoptext --- A project I'm working on has certain words which always appear in smallcaps, and I'd like them to be italicised if the context demands it (no pun intended). framed and footnotes

Hi, I tried to put a footnote in a framed box, but the text of the footnote is not shown. Is that normal? Below you find a minimal sample of what I tried.
