MPpage and single PDFs

Dear wizards, I was wondering whether there's a way to have ConTeXt spill out each \startMPpage … \stopMPpage it encounters as a separate PDF file … by default all MPpages seem to be collected into a single PDF file. Which is nice as long as this file is postprocessed by another ConTeXt document … however, I need to extract the individual figures from within LaTeX. So if anyone happens to know how to instruct LaTeX's graphicx package to do just that this would be a lovely alternative :-) Oliver

Page numbering and first page

Hello Is it any way to get a different page numbering for the first page (and different heads and foots). I used to do in plain tex with a test : ********************************************* \newif\ifpageun \ifnum\pageno=1 \pageuntrue \else \pageunfalse \fi \footline={\ifpageun \hfil \global \pageunfalse \else \numpage=\pageno \advance\numpage by \decale \ifodd\numpage\rm \the\nom \hfill --page \the\numpage-- \else \rm --page \the\numpage--\hfill\the \nom \fi \fi} ********************************************* (names are french) but maybe there is a simpler way in Context.

Over the weekend I found a solution to my problem: Instead of handling punctuation within the \insertarttitle{}{}{} command I changed the BibTeX style file (cont-no.bst) to add the periods to those title entries that need it with the command add.period$. And those titles that end in "?" or "!" are properly handled by add.period$. Ernesto

inter-word spacing (initials)

I apologize to all, but circumstances oblige me to pick up a very pedestrian thread for the third time. As Peter Münster noted: in the following test-file \starttext x. x, x x\crlf x, x. x x\crlf x,\ x.\ x\ x\crlf x.\ x,\ x\ x\crlf X. X, X X\crlf X, X. X X\crlf X,\ X.\ X\ X\crlf X.\ X,\ X\ X \stoptext you see 2 bugs: - in MKIV there is no bigger space after "x." - in MKII the space after "x.\ " is a big one The problem remains in ConTeXt ver: 2008.07.31 16:30 for MKII (which I am using). I am do not know if here have been any changes in MKIV. Is there a fix for this in the works? I am about to publish a series of pages which will look vastly better if this is fixed. Alan

Dear ConTeXt experts, I have a question about bibliographic entries and I'm using ConTeXt bib module (which is really great!!). I have an article with a title that ends in a question mark. When the entry is typeset an additional period is placed at the end of the article via the \insertarttitle{ \bgroup``}{.'' \egroup}{} command. Is there an easy way to adjust the \insertarttitle command so that if the last character of the title entry in the bib-file is a punctuation character (say ! or ?), then we do not append a period? Lucida (from a newbie) question

Hello I'm trying to switch from plain TeX (with my own set of macros) to ConTeXt. I bought the Lucida fonts and I wish ti use them. I don't find how to do this on my Mac-Live with TexShop install. I promise I've read anything I could find on the ConTeXt wiki. Thank's by advance.

Understanding ConTeXt better. What does \doattributes do?

Hi, I've been reading the Document Titles page on the wiki <http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Document_Titles>. I'm trying to better understand how ConTeXt works. Could someone explain what \doattributes does? It doesn't appear to be covered in the Inside ConTeXt section of the wiki. Also on the subject of Document Titles. Why is it that \setuptitle is called several times at the end of the source code? TIA, Elliot

missing dotlabel in mkiv

Hi, In MKIV/mplib, dotlabel does not draw a dot. Here is a test file. I am using ConTeXt ver: 2008.07.31 16:30 MKIV fmt: 2008.8.2 and MetaPost, version 1.085 (kpathsea version 3.5.5). I don't know how to find the version of mplib being used. \starttext \startMPpage dotlabel.bot(\sometxt{(0,0)}, origin) ; \stopMPpage \stoptext Aditya

Persian translation of "Context an excursion"

Hi everyone, I am translating "Context an excursion" to persian and I have a problem in the style. I use MKIV for this translation but navigation tools and metapost pictures are not displayed in the output. I use texlivetest2008 and the latest luatex and mpost from www.luatex.org (but I don't know how to install pascal metapost and maybe that is the problem). menu question

Hi, With... \startinteractionmenu[right] \placecontent[..., criterium=chapter (or section), ...] \stopinteractionmenu and chapter/section lists longer than the text area height, how do you prevent the menu items from extending beyond the bottom of the text area (and page) and have the menu scroll down after the menu's bottom chapter/section item ? I tried my luck with distance=\textheight but no luck and don't see any other option which could provide this feature. Thanks, Alan
