Maybe a xpdf bug ? (xpdf version 3.01) Note that gs has no problems with both files . luatools --ini plain

This is something I don't understand. In the mk.pdf manual on luatex on page 21 there is the following example: luatools --ini plain Instead of the expected output 120,808 plain.fmt etc. I get an error: "There is no lua initialization file found. ..." Running "luatools --generate" does not help. There is a hint: "This file can be forced by the --progname directve, or specified with --luaname,..." How can I get a "lua initialization file" in order to not have the error. And how do I interpret the hint, as the text of the error message is too cryptic for me to understand. Hans van der Meer

MkIV and DVI output

Hi, is it possible to produce DVI files with Mark IV. Hmmm this produces something funny: $ luatools --selfupdate LuaTools | to be replaced old script /usr/texbin/luatools LuaTools | unable to locate new script LuaTools | LuaTools | runtime: 0.005 seconds Perhaps some link is wrong or I shouldn't use the alias /usr/texbin (as installed by MacTeX)? Natural tables, offsets

Hi all I'm using the natural table environment, and would like the text in each cell to have some horizontal offset from the cell boundaries - but I don't want to change the vertical offset. Is there a way to do this? Thanks David

Streams

Hello For a publication project in phonetics and dialectology I'd like to print the phonetic transcription and the dialect text in a two column setup. I would be interested to use context for that (more flexibility than LaTeX), but every new paragraph is printed on a new page (as Henning Hraban Ramm posted earlier). Is there a work around other than using two pages?
