I am running the ConTeXt Minimals of 11/10 and am trying to access Times New Roman using the script \usetypescript [timesnewroman][ec] \definetypeface[timesnewroman][rm][serif][timesnewroman][default] [encoding=ec] \definebodyfont[9pt,11pt][rm][default] \setupbodyfont[timesnewroman,rm,11pt] I am not sure what I getting and I am puzzled by the log file , hence, my question: Is Times New Roman distributed with the minimals and is this the way to access it? difference between TeX behavior and ConTeXt

Hello, I've been reading through the TeXbook to solidify the foundations for TeX programming. In an exercise on roman and italic text, ConTeXt seems to behave differently from what the book specifies (Plain TEX) at a fairly fundamental level. Exercise 4.1 says, "Explain how to typeset a roman word in the midst of an italicized sentence." I wrote, and the solution in the appendix says, {\it Explain how to typeset a\/ {\rm roman} word in the midst of an italicized sentence.} But when I typeset this using texexec, the word "roman" appears in italic, just like the rest of the sentence. I tried this on both Windows XP and Ubuntu Linux, with both PDFTex and Xetex engines. On Windows I'm using ConTeXt minimal, and on Linux I'm using ConTeXt from the TeXLive 2008 CD. The result is the same in all cases: all the text is italicized. Does this difference in behavior represent a known "feature" of ConTeXt? If so, is it a difference in the defined behavior of \rm? When I put \show\rm in the .tex file to display the definition of the \rm macro, and run texexec, I get: > \rm=\protected macro: ->\setcurrentfontstyle {rm}. l.7 \show\rm By contrast, according to http://webpages.charter.net/davidlha/.trm/trmi.html, "Plain TeX defines \rm to be `\fam=0 \tenrm'." So clearly the definition of the \rm macro is different in ConTeXt than it is in Plain TeX. I could understand ConTeXt possibly changing the details of \rm's definition, e.g. a change in default font family; but it would really be surprising to find that the logic of \rm's behavior has been changed. Please help me understand if this is a bug or if there is a design principle of ConTeXt that I should be aware of... Thanks, Lars

The rules of Chinese breaking lines don't work

Hi, Today when I updated the newest beta, I found that Chinese breaking lines failed. HI! Just as the tip showed up I did the build on my ubuntu-system and along the way I also installed TL2008 and LuaTeX according to wiki http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Running_Mark_IV On running typeset in texworks it typesets and a pdf file is created but following error-message at the bottom end occurs. I did the same on a command line but there it did not show up. The errormessage inside texworks log window: mkiv lua stats : runtime - 5.414 seconds, 7 processed pages, 7 shipped pages, 1.293 pages/second ! I can't find file `./'. <*> ./ Please type another input file name: Is there something missing in preferences window? Now I have in tool configuration dialog Name: ConTeXt program: context Arguments: $fullname Thanks in Advance Janneman

ConTeXt + BibTeX problem

Hi everybody. I have two files: "texfile.tex" and "references.bib". They are attached and also copied in the bottom of the email. There is one citation. The **problem** is: the citation appears correctly in the body of the text in the PDF, but the References list is empty. However, if one changes line 14 \subsection{Top trading procedures} to \subsubject{Top trading procedures} then everything works: the citation appears correctly *and* the reference appears in the References list. I don't know why. Any ideas?
