How to stop \setuppagenumbering forcing chapter to start on right?

Hi, How can I stop \setuppagenumbering[alternative=doublesided] from forcing chapters to start on the right? I don't want any blank pages. date format in Chinese environment

When I was trying to typeset date in Chinese environment(\usemodule[chinese]) using the commond \currentdate, the date format was strange: "2007 五月 18"(the month was in Chinese). What I want is 2007.5.18 or 2007-5-18(the month should not be in Chinese). How to achieve this? Thanks !

Can't get header repetition with multipage table

Hello folks, I can't get repeated headers in a multipage table. I tried the following: %------------------------------------------------ \starttext \starttablehead \HL \VL Column 1 \VL Column 2 \VL\SR \HL \stoptablehead \starttabletail \HL \VL Column 1 \VL Column 2 \VL\SR \HL \stoptabletail \starttables[|l|l|] \dorecurse{100}{\VL value \VL value \VL\SR} \VL value \VL value \VL\SR \stoptables \stoptext %------------------------------------------------ I get a multipage table, but the header appears only at the beginning of the table and doesn't repeat itself on each page. Same for the tail part. I believe I am using the last ConTeXt version: TeXExec | TeXExec | version 6.2.0 - 1997-2006 - PRAGMA ADE/POD TeXExec | TeXUtil | version 9.1.0 - 1997-2005 - PRAGMA ADE/POD TeXExec | CtxTools | version 1.3.3 - 2004/2006 - PRAGMA ADE/POD TeXExec | ConTeXt ver: 2007.04.03 13:01 MKII fmt: 2007.4.7 int: english/english This is pdfTeXk, Version 3.141592-1.40.3 (Web2C 7.5.6) I tried first http://live.contextgarden.net/ but ConTeXt live seems to be down at the moment, I always get the message "the file 'texexec' is not found". ConTeXt on Excursion: translations in the Garden

Hi all, there is a new plant in the Garden: http://wiki.contextgarden.net/ConTeXt_on_Excursion%2C_translations It gathers translations of the beginner's manual ConTeXt on Excursion (authors Ton Otten and Hans Hagen). Currently there exist Dutch, English, and Czech versions. Czech version is a team work of translators (Ján Buša, Jiří Hrbek, Martina Plachá, Petr Tesařík, and Vít Zýka) supported by Czechoslovac TUG (CSTUG). We use as a model the English version (although the original is the Dutch one). A reader can find several additional sections dealing with localization and information sources. Non Czech readers have also some benefic as a side effect of this project. The English version was slightly actualized and fixed some bugs. All versions are acompanied by actual macro syntax and listed in the command index. Sources of all three versions are stored on the public SVN repository as a part of the ConTeXt manual project (https://foundry.supelec.fr/projects/contextman/) administrated by Taco. There is a makefile for an easy manual generation. It is ready for adding new stuff/actualizing/fixing bugs and even for new language translation. texexec message suppression.

for some time now I have been fussing over the volume of uneccessary (to me) informational messages spewed forth by texexec, in particular the long list of font scripts repeated sometimes 8 or 9 times. Since I don't even use most of these scripts I wonder why they show up on every pass of every compile. The --silent parameter to texexec should suppress some or all of these message, or so the manual says. But it doesn't. I get the same long list of messages, repeated over and over. Ideally I could suppress informational messages but keep the warning messages, per the traditional unix > and 2> output routings for sysout and syserr. But texexec does not appear to make the distinction. Routing all output to /dev/null is a trick that I use sometimes, but if the run errors off then it just hangs with no message. Are there any clever workarounds I have missed? Is there a setting somewhere in my texlive instllation that I can tweak? Should I do surgery on texexec itself? Hallo, I want to convert my thesis (which I wrote in plain tex) to ConTeXt. Unfortunately the process fails because my documents contain some commutative diagrams made in Xypic. Is it possible to convert xy code to something that ConTeXt can understand? Thanks, Dirard

Underline the headertext with a thinrule

Hi again, luigi, thanks for your tips. I simply want to put a \thinrule underneath the headertext in textwidth. My setup is: \setupheadertexts[chapter][\pagenumber][section][\pagenumber] \setupheader[after=\thinrule] \setuphead[subsubsection][number=no,alternative=text,indenttext=yes,textstyle=bold] \definetext[chapter][footer][pagenumber] \setuphead[chapter][header=high,footer=chapter,page=yes] \setuphead[blank][state=empty] This way I get a \thinrule starting in the left margin in textwidth under an odd page. I would like the headertext with chapter and pagenumber underlined with \thinrule on every odd page, except it is blank or the beginning of a new chapter, and the same with section and pagenumber in the header for every even page, except it is blank or the beginning of a new chapter -- a simple underlined headtext like in many books.
