definetypeface confusion

Hi there, I am a bit confused about \definetypeface. I try to mix some self-installed otf-fonts. Serif works fine, but I can't get the sans variant to work: \definetypeface [chaparral][rm][serif] [chaparral][default][encoding=texnansi] \definetypeface [myriad] [ss][sans] [myriad] [default][encoding=texnansi] \ss does not switch to myriad (instead, ConTeXt uses lmss), but \myriad does! So I think that the font is installed correctly and the typescript is not completely broken. How should the \setupbodyfont look like? My current setup is: \setupbodyfont[chaparral,14pt] What other information do you need? Patrick

active urls in bibliographies

[This must be a FAQ, and if so I'll put it on the wiki] I tried to force an active hyperlink to be part of a bibliography entry. If the bibliography style file for that entry type uses it, maybe it will work. But I wanted to put it in the 'note' field so that I could add it to most entries. e.g. @Book{HPL:2000, editor = {John D. Barnsford and Ann L. Brown and Rodney R. Cocking}, title = {How people learn: Brain, mind, experience, and school.}, publisher = {National Academy Press}, year = 2000, address = {Washington, DC}, edition = {expanded}, note = {http://www.nap.edu} } As above, the URL comes out normal (i.e. not hyperlinked). I couldn't get the 'biburl' field to do the magic (even with \setupinteraction started), maybe because I'd need to reprogram the .bst to use it. Also various combinations of \useURL and \goto did not work. e.g. This failed: \useURL[someurl][http://www.someurl.org][][http://www.someurl.org] @Book{HPL:2000, {... note = {\goto[someurl]} ... } That fails with ! lineskip in itemize

Greetings to everybody! It might be a bug, hence this message. The strut at the begining of an item in the itemgroup breaks the line skip (even if it is set on grid) if there is some accent above the uppercase letter. Contrary to normal text, where everything is OK. Changing \lineskiplimit locally to itemigroup fixes the problem. paragraph numbering & in[..] with paragraph resolution -> semantic refering

Hi, as I am still new to context I really have no idea how to realize following: After each paragraph I like to have at the right bottom corner a small number. This number shout increase with every paragraph. The counting should restart after every heading (doesn't care which level). How can I realize this? Additionaly I like to use this number with the in-command: Instead of referering only to the heading number (e.g. 2.3.1) I want to refer to the paragraph (e.g. 2.3.1 / 16). But it should also be possible to refer to a group of paragraphs (e.g. 2.3.1 / 16 - 18 or 2.3.1 / 16, 21). Maybe with the possibility to exchange the / with anything else (e.g. 2.3.1 Abs. 17). I am really happy for any hint, tip, implementing strategy to realize this. Of course: if I have finally a working solution i will enter it into the context-wiki. Thanks, H.

Basic TeX question, how to redefine ^^M

Hi everybody, I want to insert some special thing between every paragraph, e.g., I'd like to make each paragraph on seperated pages. Then I use: ============================= \appendtoks\feedcurrentpage\to\everypar \def\feedcurrentpage{\page[yes]} ============================= and ConTeXt gives an error about TeX capacity exceeded. And I define: ===================== \def\^^M{\endgraf\page[yes]} ===================== nothing happened. So I'm lost. \placefigure problems in Xetex

Hello Unfortunately, I get dummy boxes instead of .pdf figures in the XeteXed document. I know, it has been discussed already in the list. However, I downloaded and installed the fresh version of TexLive2007 today, and no problems from updating shouldn't arise. The log says: figures : dimensions of ./f01.pdf calculated by rlxtools system(texmfstart rlxtools --identify ./f01.pdf)...disabled. figures : dimensions of ./f01.pdf calculated by rlxtools figures : figure f01.pdf can not be found Surely, the figure is present in the same directory as the .tex document itself. XeTeX opentype features don't work

Hi, I can't use opentype font features with XeTeX, e.g. "Palatino Linotype:+smcp" for small caps. It works with plain XeTeX or ConTeXt with \font, e.g. \font\PALA="Palatino Linotype:+smcp" at 12pt \PALA some text... but not with typescripts, like \starttypescript[serif][PalatinoLinotype][uc] ... \definefontsynonym[PalatinoLinotypeCaps]["Palatino Linotype:+smcp"][encoding=uc] ... \stoptypescript \starttypescript[serif][PalatinoLinotype][name] ... \definefontsynonym[SerifCaps][PalatinoLinotypeCaps] ... \stoptypescript \starttypescript[PalatinoLinotype] \definetypeface[PalatinoLinotype][rm][serif][PalatinoLinotype][default][encoding=uc] \stoptypescript \usetypescript[PalatinoLinotype] \setupbodyfont[PalatinoLinotype] so it must be a ConTeXt problem, not a XeTeX one. It works well with the font name alone, without any colon plus features, like "Palatino Linotype". With ConTeXt versions released some months ago all opentype features worked perfectly, and there wasn't any problem. Thanks in advance, Ricard

\useexternalfigure

I have organised my (many!) figures in a file listing them all (\useexternalfigure[][][width=...]) I find it very convenient to adjust the width there and not in the \placefigure part of the single chapters. I suppose it is presently not possible to also control the placement (inner, outer and such) from \useexternalfigure. Of course I have no idea whether that would be possible/difficult/easy. But if it's easy to implement, just take it as a (non-urgent) suggestion. Cheers, Jörg

The \frac macro.

Knuth defines a macro for simple fractions such as 3/4 etc. and calls it \frac: \def\frac#1/#2{\leavevmode \kern.1em \raise .5ex \hbox{\the\scriptfont0 #1}% \kern-.1em $/$% \kern -.15em \lower .25ex \hbox{\the\scriptfont0 #2}}% The call is e.g., \frac 3/4. This works fine in Context. However if I undefine the Knuth macro and still use the same \frac call I don't get an error message but the results are quite different. I get both a stroke and a bar between the 3 and the 4.
