Context/luatex hangs on my linux box during compilation of this: \starttext \starttable[|c|c|] \NC \NC \NC\AR \DC\DL\DR \NC \NC \NC\AR \stoptable \stoptext Versions: This is LuaTeX, Version snapshot-0.20.1-2007120800 (Web2C 7.5.6) ConTeXt ver: 2007.12.14 08:57 MKIV fmt: 2007.12.14 int: english/english This is MetaPost, Version 1.002 (Web2C 7.5.5) (INIMP) Should I recompile I recompile LuaTeX and MetaPost after ConTeXt upgrade? Hi, on my machine, viewed with various text-editors the two sym-lines are identical: \starttext \startitemize[width=25mm] \sym{i.\‚V.}in Verbindung% ERROR %\sym{i.\,V.}in Verbindung% NO ERROR \stopitemize \stoptext Nevertheless, the first one gives an error (see below), the second goes fine ... Is this reproducible via email + copy&paste ? Steffen ! absolute positioning?

Hello! What is the current most contextish way for absolute positioning of text (still using MK II)? I have to create a title page for a document where several frameless boxes of text have to be placed on the page. Is this still the layer mechanism? Hi, I uploaded a new (mkiv) beta. The biggest change is that there are some optimizations in the cached mkiv font tables which should lead to (1) faster loading and (2) a smaller memory footprint. I may have messed some things in the process, so testing is appreciated. Hello, With the latest ConTeXt-versions (current and beta), the compilation of the following test-files hangs with 100% cpu-usage: % engine=luatex \starttext \bTABLE \bTR \bTD[nc=3] x\eTD\eTR \eTABLE \stoptext No problem with nc=2. Cheers, Peter -- http://pmrb.free.fr/contact/

LaTeX float pages in ConTeXt

I've been playing around with the float placement options in ConTeXt, but I could find no way to enable "float pages". If you're not familiar with float pages, here's a quick blurb: "If there are too many floats to fit on a page, LaTeX pushes them on to the next page, and the next; eventually, floats may end up at the end of the document. If the [p] option has been provided to individual figures and tables, they may be pushed together onto a float page that has no text." - http://mintaka.sdsu.edu/GF/bibliog/latex/floats.html I'm not interested in using \setupfloat[figure][default=page]. It forces all figures to a float page with one picture per page. In latex, the behavior that I desire can be specified with: \begin{figure}[htbp] \includegraphics[width=5.0in, height=3.0in]{myfile.jpg} \caption{Blah} \end{figure} Cheers, Mike

Combining eps figures into a single document

Hi all, I am not sure if there is an easy way to do this with a generic ConTeXt document but I thought I'd ask anyways. I have a folder full of identically sized data plots saved as eps/pdf files and I was wondering if there was a quick way to shrink and tile them into a multi-page document so that I get 15 plots per page (5 rows x 3 colums)? I have scripts that generate these plots and I literally have hundreds of them that I need to combine and print. Any ideas? Many thanks, Dave

Hi, As a prelude to an independent language mechanism for mkiv (the tex part) I removes a few thingies. I was wondering ... is anyone using language specifics? Active quote stuff? Does that still make sense for mkiv? After all we can have more advanced exceptions and we have utf ... extended dictionary / hyphenation patterns

Hi, I guess German is famous for its monstrous compound words ;o( So I have a manually collected lists of hyphenation patterns (like "\hyphenation{Selbst-kon-troll-ein-rich-tung}"). This I'd like to keep as a two separate files: on for usage with the body-text set in \mainlanguage[deo] and one for \mainlanguage[de]. Is there a handy way to automatically assign and include one of these files (HyPold and HyPnew) to the usage of the respective \mainlanguage [deo] and [de] ? Steffen
