[important] ConTeXt Meeting: call for talks & participants

Hello, I will send a more elaborate mail shortly (with a longer explanation), but to put it into a few words, I need to know: a) a rough estimate of the number of people who are planning to come to Bohinj from 20th-25th August b) [REALLY IMPORTANT] some preliminary talks held by people with any kind of academic references For a), I will put a web form online within a few days (so no hurry until then) For b), I would like to ask people (apart from Hans and Taco, who will get another mail) who have any kind of academic references (being a professor, having some reasonable citation index, obtaining any kind of grants (Idris?), being editor of any journals, being a Nobel laureate :) or whatever else) and are planning to come, to drop me a private mail. I will try to apply for funding (for organisation of scientific meeting) to lower the fee. The chances to get that funding is low, but still worth trying, and the number & quality of foreign speakers is one of criteria to be able to get the funding. The meeting will last for 5 days (4 full days, 5 times sleeping there), the fee most probably won't exceed 200 EUR (including accomodation, food, conference materials and at least one half-day or full-day excursion), and there are 4 low-cost airports around (*Ljubljana - Easyjet & Wizzair, Maribor, Trieste, Klagenfurt). Visualization module and mkiv

Hi, the visualization module did at the moment not work in mkiv, the fault is the unbalanced \start/stopcolor command in the definition of \fakerule. I have installed justtex, upgraded context to the latest version, upgraded the binaries to the latest version (Version snapshot-0.20.2-2007121720 (Web2C 7.5.6)). luatools --generate texexec --lua --make --all texexec --make --all My testfile is: \enableregime[utf] \starttext There is text. \stoptext ConTeXt ver: 2007.12.26 20:00 MKIV fmt: 2007.12.26 int: english/ english ... migrating to ConTeXt

Hi! Recently I switched to emacs editor and at considered to leave lyx. At the same time, I'm again considering ConTeXt (was playing with it some years ago when it was receiving utf-8 support) - after reading about luaTeX & MkIV development. Have several questions, so before firing them up, I'd like to ask about general etiquette on the list: should I throw them all in one email or divide as one_question/email ? Sincerely, Gour

Dear gang, We can use \struttedbox to force an eg, large expression to obey the surrounding interlinespace: ======================= {blah blah \struttedbox{\tfc blah blah}} blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah \struttedbox{\tfc blah blah}} blah blah blah blah blah blah ======================= but this has the drawback that the box cannot be broken across lines. Is there a way to force the interlinespace to remain constant and ignore the size of grouped insertions with big font sizes? Permission Policy

I ran into trouble with "luatools --generate" which does not seem to work with "sudo luatools --generate" The seem applies to texmfstart and friends. Why this manco? I want to keep my system as safe as possible especially regarding applications and stuff that takes a lot of time installing (like the texlive system). Therefore I have this in an administrator account (root:wheel). Cannot ConTeXt cope with such a scheme? All it has to do is honor sudo, apparently. Hans van der Meer

Luatex installation

I have read the instructions for installing luatex on MacOSX so clearly spelt out by Thomas Schmitz, but they leave a question open. Thomas advises to set TEXMFCACHE=/tmp with the argument that it then is cleared each time the computer is restarted. What is unclear to me if this means that on each restart some explicit reinitialzation has to be done or are the data in TEXMFCACHE suitable candidates for thrashing at all times? Hans van der Meer
