All, Could someone give a couple of snippets of code, (1) that would over a Metapost ellipse around a chapter head and number, and another that would overlay a pair of Metapost lines underneath chapter head and number. Looking for examples to study to get my skills back. Thanks.

slightly OT: presentation tool

As the subject line says, this is slightly OT, but it may be of interest to some. If you produce your presentations in ConTeXt and want to show the resulting pdf, you have to use a pdf-viewer. I just hate Adobe Reader with its bloat and its intrusiveness; other solutions (such as evince and xpdf on linux) had smaller problems as well. I have recently found a relatively small python solution that i like a lot; I hasten to add that I'm in no way affiliated with the developers; I just have installed it and use it a lot. It's called keyjnote; it's free (as in beer), and it offers a lot of nice eye-candy during presentations of pdf-files such as nice transitions, a sorted view that shows all slides in one window and lets you choose one, and the possibility to highlight parts of the screen with your mouse pointer. There are some disadvantages: it has a lot of pythonish dependencies (on OS X, I could install them via darwinports, but it's a lot more difficult on most linux distros), it needs opengl support, and a reasonably fast machine. But it costs nothing to just have a look at it: http://keyjnote.sourceforge.net/ And I find that it makes presentations done in ConTeXt look even better! texexec --nokeep ?

Hello, texexec generates now files with extension .mp.keep. And texutil --purgeall does not delete them. Is there an option for texexec not to generate those files or an option for texutil (or ctxtools) to delete them? Cheers, Peter -- http://pmrb.free.fr/contact/

Install minimal context distribution

Dear Context-ers, I would like to install the minimal context distribution, but have no idea of which zip files to download and how to configure the system. I have seen that there are many zip files in the "Pragma" website : justtex.zip, cont-bas.zip, cont-tmf.zip, linuxtex.zip. hyphenation of urls in french docs

Hi (mostly for Hans), Is there a clean way to get around this problem: \useencoding[ffr] \mainlanguage[fr] \starttext \hyphenatedurl{http://somewhere.to/go} \stoptext It gives: ! Undefined control sequence. <argument> \discretionarytoken because of the active : , but I am not sure what is the best fix.

Footnotes and spacing.

Hi, I'm having trouble with footnotes. How can I add space between each note? I've tried using \setupfootnotes[after=\blank], but it doesn't work? I'm not sure how one can control the spacing between blocks of text anyway, as I'm still a ConTeXt newbie. :-) Elliot

texgyre - first release

Hi, At http://www.gust.org.pl/e-foundry/tex-gyre/ you can fetch the first release of the texgyre collection. This font project aims at merging the existing free fonts (now spread over original, quasi and vn collections). The first stage is a mere merge and as with latin modern, the authors will converge to a stable consistent set of fonts. So ... go ahead and become a tester. Integration in context is rather easy. (1) fetch the two zips (base and hh) from the website mentioned (2) put the atteched file in your context/base path (3) run mktexlsr After that, the following should work: \starttext \usetypescriptfile[type-gyr] \usetypescript[palatino][\defaultencoding] \setupbodyfont[palatino] \showfont[Serif] \stoptext so, the magic is in the small typescript file: \usetypescriptfile[type-gyr] this will overload existing definitions. The nice thing is that this project will make many font problems (mostly related to missing files) go away because the names fit context, and the amount of files is reduced enormously (only 4 type 1 files, no virtual fonts, etc) All popular encodings are supported The pagella (based on palladio) also has cyrilic, but we need to figure out a way to integrate this (should be easy) Vietnamese users: please check if things work ok, these fonts contain work done by Han The Thanh and the fonts will eventually replace his variants Polish and neighbouring users: these fonts will replace the quasi variants. Keep in mind that this is the first version. The shapes will be improved over time. Even more: all fonts eventually will have math companions as well as (in open type) features. This project is substantially funded by the tex user groups (cstug, dante, gust, ntg, tugindia, tug). We hope to involve more user groups in the next stage (math, extensions, etc) so feel free to contact us. On behalf of ythe user groups the project is coordinated by Jerzy while the dev team is lead by Jacko. The next few years more fonts will be released. At the next bachotek [eurotex organized by pl/cs] there will be the first formal releases + presentations about them, so better be there ... Disappearing chapter numbers

All, We are wondering why we don't get a chapter number in our header in what follows. symb-eur and dvi
