Preventing page breaks (needspace)

While using \obeylines for some poetry there would sometimes be page breaks in the middle of stanzas, even if there was very stretchy space on either side. So I borrowed some code from needspace.sty, basically to tell TeX I'd be much happier w/ a ragged bottom than a break between lines: \def\needspace#1{% \begingroup \vskip#1\lineheight\penalty -100\vskip-#1\lineheight \vskip#1\lineheight\penalty 9999\vskip-#1\lineheight \endgroup} So if there is a stanza of four lines that *really* shouldn't be split across pages, it looks like this: \needspace{4} Line 1 Line 2 Line 3 Line 4 However, I suspect I'm not the first person to run into this. So my question is if there is a more ConTeXt-y way to do this? Or does ConTeXt already have something to do this?

bib module beta test

Hi, Some of you may have missed this, but I have posted a beta of the bibliographic module on http://modules.contextgarden.net/bib I would appreciate it if people that have documents with large bibliographies would download it and run their files. Some mayor stuff has changed, and I really need confirmation that I have not broken backward compatibility. TIA, Taco

\hexstringtonumber{..}

Hello Hans, what is the purpose of \hexstringtonumber{..}? wasy symbols

I need one of the wasy symbols, the check mark to be exact. Now I add: \usemodule[symb-was] and this allows me to type set the mark with: WaldiSymbol = \WaldiSymbol {8} but although the module file defines: \definesymbol [checked] [\WaldiSymbol {8}] I cannot do something like \checked because \checked is an undefined control sequence. newline with \setupTABLE[bottom=...]

Hello, in accordance to http://context.literatesolutions.com/collector/52 I got used to write things like: \starttext \setupTABLE[c][1][style=before,bottom=after] \bTABLE \bTR\bTD X\eTD\bTD bla\eTD\eTR \bTR\bTD X\eTD\bTD bla\eTD\eTR \eTABLE \stoptext This worked fine, but with the latest ConTeXt, the bottom=... introduces a newline. It it true that in Arabic the digits making up a number should read from ltr while separated numbers forming a section or float reference should read rtl overall. So we are nearly there, just the cross-references to be dealt with, thank you all very much for this. Duncan

reference formatting

With \definereferenceformat[pin][left=(,right=)] it is possible to typeset references with \pin[ref] and get "(ref)" I have two questions in this respect: 1. is it possible to change the general setup in the same way, e.g. let \in[ref] do the same as \pin[ref] here. The left and right are not in setupreferencing. 2. some strange interchange takes place when using \pin{A}{B}[ref]. Instead of the expected "A (ref) B" one gets "A (refB); it therefore seems the right parenthesis from the setup comes too late in play. Hans van der Meer

So to match the setupheads, we need also: \setuplist[section,subsection,...][separator={{.}}] Unfortunately \setupreferencing[separator={{.}}] seems to just put an extra . before the figure number, but not reverse it, resulting in: '1.2- erugiF' Duncan
