font switches, tables, and grouping

Dear consortium, font switches do not obey grouping when \start-stoptable is invoked: =============================== Some text \start\it \starttable[|l|l|] \NC 2001 \NC Fall \NC\SR \stoptable \stop Some text =============================== The second `Some text' comes out italicized. What is happening here and how do I fix it? Also, how do I control the blank space between \stoptable and the beginning of the next par? \sometxt bodyfontsize in staticMPfigure (2006.09.27 beta)

[I'm testing the 2006.09.27 beta on Linux] Thanks for the new \sometxt in staticMPfigures. I'm just testing its operation, and find that the text is not set in the document's bodyfont size. For example, \setupbodyfont[20pt] \starttext \startstaticMPfigure{fig} label(\sometxt{in sometxt},origin); \stopstaticMPfigure outside sometxt \usestaticMPfigure[fig] \stoptext produces a small "in sometxt" and a large "outside sometxt". With this file both are large, as I expected \sometxt to work: \setupbodyfont[20pt] \starttext \startreusableMPgraphic{fig} label(\sometxt{in sometxt},origin); \stopreusableMPgraphic{ outside sometxt \reuseMPgraphic{fig} \stoptext I haven't figured out the full story. But in the intermediate .mp files generated by texexec, the staticMPfigure case has "BodyFontSize:=12.0pt;" whereas in the reusableMPgraphic case, the file has "BodyFontSize:=20.0pt;". -Sanjoy `A society of sheep must in time beget a government of wolves.' -- Bertrand de Jouvenal

Another small metafun test file. It displays no text in the middle of the ellipse. Using \textext instead of \sometxt works. \starttext \startstaticMPfigure{fig} draw \sometxt{hello}; draw fullcircle scaled 1cm xscaled 2; \stopstaticMPfigure \usestaticMPfigure[fig] xyz \stoptext

static figures not working with the 2006.10.04 beta

This file now produces a blank page except for the page number, perhaps due to me messing up one of the upgrades (was trying an automatic install to a TEXMFLOCAL directory but eventually gave up and went back to ~/texmf/): \starttext \startstaticMPfigure{fig} draw fullcircle scaled 1in; \stopstaticMPfigure \usestaticMPfigure[fig] \stoptext [ConTeXt ver: 2006.10.04 09:35 MK II] -Sanjoy `A society of sheep must in time beget a government of wolves.' -- Bertrand de Jouvenal

How to use the wiki?

Hello, Sorry for that stupid question, but what it the process to add something to the wiki? I can edit existing page, but in which topic or page one can add something? Is an account required? Is there a list of the pages added by the users? The wiki itself doesn't seem to have many information about this. Thanks, BG

Parameters must be numbered consecutively. <to be read again> ## l.44 \global \loadfontfileoncetrue \def \2## 1##2{\vbox {\halign {\hfil ####\... 1-mpgraph.mp gets this figure definition: beginfig(1); verbatimtex \global \loadfontfileoncetrue \def \2##1##2{\vbox {\halign {\hfil ####\hfil \cr ##1\cr ##2\cr }}} etex; label(btex sun etex , origin); ; endfig; So the parameters in the definition are being doubled up by one of the transformations that inserts the verbatimtex..etex block. By the way, should the verbatimtex..etex block go outside the beginfig..endfig, as it would in a standalone MP file? Hi, apropos a good manual: is the debian installation description still supposed to be correct and/or supported? I did an installation with last weeks unstable release and found the wiki infos not really helpful, if not outright misleading. with greets from the penguin side of things, Jak. PS.: Yes, I also prefer printed docs. programming: doifdefined & friends

While I can't cope with counters, I'm trying other stuff that I don't understand: How must I use \doifdefined & friends? Consider this snippet: ----- \starttext \def\myvar{JAJAJA} \input tufte \doifdefined{\myvar}{\par bla \myvar blub\par} \input tufte \stoptext ----- I'd guess it would print "bla JAJAJAblub" between the two Tufte texts and don't if I comment \def\myvar. But I guess wrongly: It does nothing in this case, and complains about undefined \myvar in the latter. But if I really want to check if something is defined before I try to use it, how must I write it? (Expansion magic?) Greetlings from Lake Constance! [HELP] colored text marked by a caption and across multipages

Hi all, << 1 >> First, I want to put source codes into my document. I achieve this by using 'verbatim' \starttyping blah blah \stoptyping << 2 >> Then I decide to add colors for these source codes, so I use: \starttyping[option=color,option=commands] blah blah <</color[red]....>> blah blah \stoptyping << 3 >> Finally, I want to refer to this block of source codes in the rest document, so I use: \placefloat[here][listing:sample]{Hello world} \starttyping[option=color,option=commands] blah blah <</color[red]....>> blah blah \stoptyping and refer to it by \in{}[] and \at{}[]. << 1 >> & << 2 >> & << 3 >> work great, however, if the source codes are long enough, and doesn't fit into one page, then the bottom of it will not display. After searching this mailing list, I found some methods: \bTABLE, \starttextbackground ..etc... But none of them can achieve this facility. I can accomplish this facility though LaTeX as described in page 2 ~ page 3 in the attached file. (It uses listings package in LaTeX) All I want is a colored source codes marked by a caption, and I can refe to that source code using \in{}[] or \at{}[] primitives. Are there any ways in ConTeXt can achieve this?
