I 've done the think with texmfstart texfont.pl ..... but there I get an error I think it is a path error in the texmf.cnf the path looks right: TEXMFMAIN = $SELFAUTOPARENT/share/texmf I haven't the folder texmf-local in my directory, but I've read this doesn't matter. Hi, I've been looking into the various ConTeXt resources to figure out how to place a colon between the figure number and the caption text within the document, as follows: Figure 1: This is a figure caption Unfortunately I have not yet found it and am wondering if anyone can provide a clue as to how this is accomplished. Also, how can I left justify the caption text within the document as follows: Figure 1: This is a figure caption that is too long to fit on a single line of text Any help is appreciated ... Ligature handling for PDF searching.

(This came up on comp.text.tex in a question about LaTeX, but it also applies to ConTeXt, and the proposed solution for LaTeX doesn't apply.) Consider the following document: \starttext Some ligature tests: ff, fi, ffi, fl, ffl. \stoptext If I process that with texexex -pdf, load it into Acrobat 5, and then copy-and-paste the text from the PDF into a text editor, the fi and fl ligatures are correctly treated as two letters, but the ff, ffi, and ffl ligatures are treated as single (unknown) characters. Similarly, searching for "f" within the document only finds the fi and fl ligatures; it doesn't find the others. Searching for "ff" finds nothing. This is a fairly significant problem in the on-screen usability of ConTeXt-created documents. In LaTeX, there is apparently a solution in the cmap.sty package (though it currently only works for T1 encoding): http://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/macros/latex/contrib/cmap/ Is there a similar solution for ConTeXt? I think I'm a little bit stupid this week I've done everythink like on this site : http://contextgarden.net/TeTeX_3.0_installation I've only a softlink to texhash in /usr/sbin looks like: texhash -> /usr/local/teTeX/bin/i686-pc-linux-gnu/texhash and a softlink to texmfstart texmfstart -> /usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf/scripts/context/ruby/texmfstart.rb and a softliink to mktexlsr -> /usr/local/teTeX/bin/i686-pc-linux-gnu/mktexlsr because when I'm doing fmtutil-sys --edit like in the doku explained, this was expected. Hi, I've done everything you told me and like its written in the howto. But look at the output. I think its a fontproblem so I tried to make this command: texmfstart texfont.pl type-tmf.dat --en=texnansi --fontroot=/usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf --install --makepath But this doesn't help, I get always an error. Position margin text block near previous paragraph

Hello! This time I have a task like this: I have margin text blocks (like Note, Tip) that follow some paragraph in my document flow. In the produced document I get them in margin, but vertically they are just below the paragraph (as in text flow) I really need then to start exactly where the previous paragraph starts (vertically). I.e. I need to move them several (unknown number) lines higher. My realization: \setupinmargin[style=\sl\tx\setupinterlinespace,location=left,align=right] \def\Note#1{ \strut \inmargin{ \em{#1} } \strut} \starttext This is the para with unknown length that can be any number of lines high. And I have a note below it that should be located to the left of this paragraph and not just below it. That's the case. \par \Note{ And here is the note that should be in margin.} \stoptext The easiest would to put it above the target paragraph, but that's not the solution for me as the same text is rendered to HTML where no margins exist. "Very dirty" localisation request for a rainy evening

Hello Hans, Today I saw a webpage of someone, who is very active in the field of translation and localisation of free software into Slovenian. It astonished me the way he numered the items on his webpage: (a) approximation ... (b) Gauss ... (c) numerical solutions ... (č) solving parabolic ... % [\ccaron] (d) ... This should actually be the only proper way to number items in Slovenian, but you can imagine that nobody is able to use that since the beginning of computer era. (Another example is the usage of quotation marks: most people use the American quotation marks instead of the German ones just because MS Word defaults to that.) However, those people who really care, use the Slovenian alphabet when enumerating (manually, of course). I'm proud, for example, that I was in the class "1.Č" in the high school. Not right away, but any time in the future when unicode, fonts and similar will be updated/reimplemented/fully supported and when it will be raining cats and dogs and nothing interesting will be on TV: can you think on this this tiny request to switch to local enumeration if \mainlanguage[sl] (or any other language with a similar request) is selected? In a similar way as the sorting rules are applied in this kind of documents. (I'll take the response for "backward compatibility" issues (documents that now use enumeration a, b, c, d would use another enumeration afterwards) - if anyone would complain, he would have to talk to me first!!!) I don't know if there is any special agreement in case there are more than 26 items in the list, but sometimes a, b, ... x, y, z, aa, ab, ac, ... zz, aaa, aab, aac, ... is used. I never needed that many items until now, but the issue could theoretically be interesting for the others. Trying to use more than 26 items results in an arror at the moment. Thanks, Mojca

I "forced" the issue by defining each column to be less than 1em (because "1" is a very narrow char that surely takes less than 1 em), and by adding a typescript space after each number. It might even be possible to eliminate the typescript space and simply define each column to be 0.25em, say, but I did not try it. Best, elena P.S. Let me know if I missed the boat entirely. Just a quick comment, since I cannot try anything in LiveContext right at this time: What you want is the equivalent of LaTeX's \marginpar , which is really a \vtop whose beginning coincides with the beginning of the paragraph being \note[d]. I am thinking that this would be a good test case for Brooks Moses' LaTeX-to-ConTeXt set of macros. I will experiment with it tonight unless someone beats me to the punch :-) Best, elena
