All, I assume that reftex does not work with context? Correct? Is there a management system for references in Context that is similar to Reftex? David

\totalnumberofpages and \setuparranging [2UP]

Hi all, I'm having trouble getting \totalnumberofpages to display while using \setuparranging [2UP]. What I'd like to do is print a letter, two columns to a page, then cut the page in two so the letter is in long columns with fractional page numbering at the bottom of each column, 1/4, 2/4, 3/4, 4/4. But what's happening is 1/1, 2/2, 3/3, 4/4. \definepapersize[4.25x11][width=4.25in,height=11in] \setuppapersize [4.25x11][letter] \setuplayout[backspace=.75in, width=2.75in, topspace=.75in, top=0in, header=0in, footer=.5in, height=9.75in] \setuppagenumbering[location={footer,right},right={~/~}{\lastpage}] \setuparranging [2UP] Removing \setuparranging [2UP] allows \totalnumberofpages to work fine, and upon replacing it, the first run works. But subsequent runs revert back to 1/1, 2/2, etc. This is using the texexec --pdf command. I read through the thread "\totalnumberofpages & texexec --pages=1:2", but being new to ConTeXt, I can't quite make out if that's relevant. Any suggestions much appreciated. - John

The speed of development?

Hi guys, I'm starting to use conTeXt. And thanks for all those people encourage me in my last email. I read in various places that the pace of development is fast. I don't get a clue of what that means. As far as I know LaTeX hasn't been updated for over 3 years. So how fast is conTeXt being developed? The conTeXt manual dated 2001 since pretty old to me. Am I right? Trivial \cite & m-bib related question

Hi all, I've a doc structured as followed : env_phd.tex biblio.bib project_phd.tex --> prd_phd.tex --> c_intro.tex (frontmatter) --> c_chap1.tex (bodymatter) I have read the previous thread [NTG-context] bibmodule + project, the result is : - in each components : \usepublications[prd_phd] - in prd_phd.tex (before \starttext) \setupbibtex[database=biblio,sort=author] \setuppublications[alternative=num-fr] \usepublications[prd_phd] My biblio.bib contains : @InProceedings{reno, author = {{Aubin}, Renaud}, title = {Titre test}, booktitle = {book title test}, pages = {1--100}, year = 2005 } I have compiled my product with : texexec --once prd_phd bibtex prd_phd texexec prd_phd texexec prd_phd texexec prd_phd I have a \cite[reno] in c_intro.tex, the prd_phd.bbl is ok and \completepublications works well I obtain [??] as the result of \cite and the log gives me : references : unknown reference [][reno] though my prd_phd.bbl = \setuppublicationlist[samplesize={{Aub}05},totalnumber=1] \startpublication[k=reno,t=inproceedings, a={{{Aubin}}},y=2005, n=1,s={Aub}05] \author[]{Renaud}[R.]{}{{Aubin}} \pubyear{2005} \arttitle{Titre test} \title{book title test} \pages{1--100} \stoppublication and the log publications : loading database from prd_phd.bbl I don't understand what happened... What I'm doing wrong ? I have try some options for \cite but it's not better and my understanding of m-bib need to be improved since i've recently switched from LaTeX to ConTeXt.

Problems creating tfms for an Unicode font

Hello ConTeXters, in consequence to the Hans' prompt, I've tried to create enc and tfm files for some Japanese fonts. Namely, I've tried the Mona (http://monafont.sourceforge.net/index-e.html) and MS Mincho (distributed with Windows XP). I've done these steps: 1) Created a TTX representation of the font with the ttx utility (http://sourceforge.net/projects/fonttools/) ttx -t cmap -t name msmincho.ttf 2) Created the enc files using the Adam Lindsay's XSL stylesheet (http://www.ntg.nl/maps/pdf/30_10.pdf) I've googled out that Japanse "Katakana" and "Hiragana" characters are located at Unicode offsets 0x30, 0x32, 0x33 and 0xff. So I've created four enc files the following way java -jar saxon8.jar msmincho.ttx ttx2enc.xsl "vector=30" >msmincho30.enc The files are created without errors, but I cannot judge if they are correct... 3) Tried to create the appropriate tfm files with the ttf2tfm utility. ttf2tfm msmincho.ttf -T msmincho30.enc msmincho30.tfm I got a lot of warnings of style: --- cut --- ttf2tfm: WARNING: Cannot find character `uni3064' specified in input encoding. ttf2tfm: WARNING: Cannot find character `uni3065' specified in input encoding. --- cut --- and finally this error: --- cut --- Using msmincho30.enc as input encoding. ttf2tfm: ERROR: No TTF characters. --- cut --- No tfm file was created. Could somebody advise/help me? I really haven't any experience with font conversion and cannot realize what's goings wrong... If somebody is willing to help, I'll send him the appropriate files (I can't post them here - it's over 5MB zipped...). Thanks, Richard

bibmodule + project

Hi all, a question for the many happy users of Taco's bibmodule: I'm in the process of splitting a larger project into several components. What I have is: transl.tex --> main project file environment.tex --> environment for all components products.tex --> list of components component1.tex component2.tex . . . Index, TOC etc. seem to be working very well, but I can't get the bibliographic references right when compiling. Where should the call to bibmodule reside, and how can I run bibtex on such a project? strange behavior of startbackground

Hello, I came across a problem when I was trying to compile my tex file. The attached file is an example. I have to process Chinese, so "\loadmapfile[gbk]" and "\usemodule[chinese]" are essential. I'm using the lastest release of ConTeXt. ConText ver:2005.12.01, texExec 5.4.3, to be exact. And I use "texmfstart texexec.pl --autopdf --pdf test2.tex" to compile my source file. The problem is there is enough space in page 2 for the words between \startbackground and \stopbackground, but the background block was put on page 3 with most of the page 2 was left blank. And there is another small problem, the command \setupindenting[medium] didn't work. extra nattab split in columns

Hi, there occurs extra page break when natural tables is in the columns: ------------------------------------ \showframe \starttext \startcolumns Text. \bTABLE[split=yes] \dorecurse{100}{\bTR\bTD line\eTD\eTR} \eTABLE \stopcolumns \stoptext ------------------------------------ I do not know why there is extra \page \bgroup\page\egroup inside of \splittblboxa (core-ntb). Box breaking should be implicit here (we are not inside a float here since \splittblbox forks this), should not? Commenting mentioned line(s) solves this special problem. Not understanding all background I do not know if it causes some unwanted side-effect. Vit

There is a very little error in file "/tex/texmf-local/web2c/texmf.cnf". This file is contained in archive "justtex.zip" downloaded from Pragma web site.
