Hi, If you have acrobat 6 installed, you can try: http://www.pragma-ade.com/itdemos/internal/media/mediashow.pdf This file accesses - a movie - a flash - a smil - a mpeg however, - the smil does not work on a distance (probably bug in acrobat, resources are not picked up) - the smil does not work stand alone on a mac - the shockwave does not work on a mac (which associates the suffix/mime to quicktime) on windows, things seem to work ok in standalone as well as when served on localhost with url's; on macosx, a full screen startup looks rather strange (not centered, funny top bar) you can download http://www.pragma-ade.com/itdemos/internal/media/mediashow.zip to test it locally (8 meg file). If you're on linux or mac, try this on a xp machine. The files has - roll over buttons (not that new, was already present) - navigational layers (also not new, already present as well) - multimedia support The next release will support multimedia (a bit more than shown here). I have a separate demo file for that (still pondering how to distribute it). I'll see if I can write a My Way this week. Beware: multimedia support combined with other features is not always that stable in acrobat (apart from some bugs). Given that you have an xml file describing you media, texexec --use=med-show --pdf thatfile.xml will do the trick (in my version -) This is a first step towards a multimedia server/client based on pdf. So, if an able mac user is willing to write an xslt script for converting those itunes export files into a reslib format ... alignment of marginal material

I am trying to write a macro which places a picture in the margin. I would like the centre of the picture to be aligned vertically with the centre of the paragraph in which I call the macro. The following works in simple cases: \def\hazard#1{% The argument is the text of the paragraph \setbox0=\vbox{#1}% I do this to work out the height of the paragraph \inleft [low] {% \framed% [height=\ht0,% This makes the height of the frame equal to the height of the paragraph top=\vss,% bottom=\vss,% These two lines centre the picture in the frame frame=off]% {\externalfigure [sharp turn sign]}% }% #1}% It goes wrong if you replace #1 with \box0 If I type something like \hazard{…paragraph text…} this produces what I want. But it breaks down with mathematics. \hazard{% \startformula …mathematics… \stopformula } produces the picture aligned with the bottom of the mathematics. A solution to this problem escapes me. boldsymbol workaround

Hi all, I've just found a little workaround for using boldsymbols. It works even with the nath module. It's probably not the best way of doing it, but since it does the trick for me, I guess it might useful to other ConTeXters. Here it is: \define[1]\boldsymbol{{\hbox{\formula{\bfm #1}}}} I also have to: \definebodyfont [17.3pt,14.4pt,12pt,11pt,10pt,9pt,8pt,7pt,6pt,5pt,4pt] [mm] [mrbf=cmbx10 sa 1, exbf=cmex10 sa 1, mibf=cmmib10 sa 1, sybf=cmbsy10 sa 1, mabf=msam10 sa 1] \setupformulae[method=bold] Then, I may define very handy commands like \define\grad{\boldsymbol{\nabla}} \define[1]\vec{\boldsymbol{#1}} \define[1]\unitvec{\hat{\vec{#1}}} and formulas like this typeset perfectly: \[ \grad h = a \unitvec{n} \]

XY arrangement

Hi Hans, I should print on a sheet of etiquettes made by Avery. The topspace as the bottomspace is 15 mm the left and right non printable area is 7 mm. On the rest of the printing area there are 21 etiquettes with a horizontal distance of 3mm. There is no vertical gap in the columns of etiquettes. I setup the XY arrangement. The etiquettes look o.k. The problem is, that Context ignores the topspace and backspace as setup in \setuppaper. For your reference I add a minimal example. Could you please have a look why the mentioned parameters are ignored? Two questions about \subject vs \section

Hello all. I have a series of documents which use \section to create a numbered heading and \subject to create an unnumbered one. I would like the unnumbered headings (the \subjects) to do put the titles in the running heads and in the tables of contents, like the \sections do. I have experimented with \setuphead but can't see how this can be done? A related question which might help me answer the first - where would I find the default settings for things like \chapter and \subject, so that I can see how they are originally set up and therefore how to make them behave differently? The tex/context/base/*.tex files don't seem to contain \definehead commands for these, so I assume they must be done in a different way internally? Thanks for any help. Duncan dh(a)capdm.com

unwanted pagebreak

Dear Contex'ers, Does anyone know how I can prevent the occurrence of a pagebreak after: \section, \subsection, ... (followed by \startitemize) \head (in an itemization) I do not want to have to check all the section headings and put \page[no] before the heading. Kind regards, Robert Ermers

caption alignment

Ahoi! I thought \setupcaptions[align=right] would cause left aligned captions, but they stay centered. \setupcombinations[align=right] works -- even if I think, combination captions should be affected by \setupcaptions also... Unicode garbage in table of contents

Hello, I'm using \enableregime[utf] in the preamble and unicode characteurs in the document are typeset correctly. But, in the table of contents and in the index, they are replaced with their hex codes with some garbage. Anything I might be doing wrong? David
