Dear list, my publisher forces me to set different things as titles, in headers and table of contents. In some cases \nolist and \nomarking aren't enough. here are my actual definitions: ---- \def\Untertitel#1{\blank[3pt]{\ss\bf #1}\blank} % ok \def\Titel#1#2{{\nohyphens\chapter{#1}\Untertitel{#2}}} % ok \def\KomplexTitel#1#2#3{{\writetolist[chapter]{#3}\nohyphens\title{#1}\U ntertitel{#2}}} ---- with ---- \start \setupheadertexts[][manual entry][part][] % normally defined as [][chapter][part][] \KomplexTitel{Main chapter title}{chapter subtitle}{toc entry} Much text \stop % of other headertext ---- Real life example: \start \setupheadertexts [][Vorwort][][] \KomplexTitel{Die neutrale Schweiz und das globale Dorf}% {Vorwort von Prof.|~|Dr.|~|Heinrich Ott}% {Vorwort Prof.|~|Dr.|~|Heinrich Ott:\\Die neutrale Schweiz und das globale Dorf} ... Now there stay two issues: 1. I'd like to get a four-parameter command that can set the header text also. 2. I must get a line feed into the toc, but neither \\ nor \crlf works. Please help! Thanks. critical editions in context

Sorry if this is a double post; I sent this message on Friday, and I think it somehow got lost. In March/April 2002, Hans and Idris had an interesting exchange about the topic "critical editions in context" here in ntg-context; the main question was whether the functionality of edmac could be implemented in context. I'd be curious to know whether anything came out of it, I couldn't find any follow-up. Best Thomas

startappendices creates an extra empty page

Hi, When is use \startappendices \stopappendices to create appendices, I get an extra empty page. Is there a way to solve this? If I put another chapter after the \stopappendices statement, then there is no empty page. See the following test: \setupoutput[pdftex] \starttext \chapter[]{Chapter} This a chapter \section[]{Section} This a section \startappendices \chapter[]{Appendix} This the appendix \stopappendices % \chapter[]{extra} % This extra \stoptext Any suggestions? m-bib sorting, etc.

Another question on m-bib: Is it possible to get the bib list alphabetized? Or is the only way this can work if the bib file itself is so, and I use the bbl sort option? Also, I am getting some weird vertical spacing in the list (like extra blank space between a couple of entries). Is there any suggested workaround for this? Bruce

differences of table modes

Ahoi! I just reviewed my german ConTeXt tutorial and tried to tell the truth about all the table modes. Please correct me if I'm wrong: * tabulate - can break over several pages - [start|stop]tabulate[head|tail] should define a repeated head/tail, but it doesn't work - documented in the manual (cont-en[i|p]) * table - cannot break - based on Wichura's TaBlE (others not) - can be used as float (others not?) - documentation commercial at pctex.com (39 $), partly docs in "ConTeXt - an excursion" (m[s|p]-cb-en) * tables - same as table, but can break over several pages - [start|stop]table[head|tail] works - nowhere documented? * TABLE - didn't try page breaks yet; should it work? - [b|e]TABLE works; should [start|stop]TABLE also? - docs: up-to-date 8 (no link on HP!), enattab * new table mode? Czech patterns in TeXlive2003

Hello, Petr Olsak has changed slightly Czech pattern file czhyph.tex for TeXlive2003, it's a bit `Babelized' now. It produces \errmessage for Babel's \addlanguage being \undefined. It also contains several ugly hacks to make both plain and LaTeX read \v and \' syntax for Czech accents, and finally it reads czhyphen.tex containing real patterns. The result is that generating ConTeXt format ends with the \errmessage. Simple workaround is to change alias in cont-usr.tex to pattern files from czhyph.tex to czhyphen.tex. My discussion with Petr Olsak suggests to make a more systematic correction: to add a test into czhyph.tex and make it directly read czhyphen.tex if ConTeXt is detected. This needs two things to make sure: 1. Is it OK to read patterns with \v and \' syntax into ConTeXt? 2. Is there a way to detect ConTeXt in order to put into czhyph.tex something like: \ifx\<something-typical-to-detect-ConTeXt>\undefined \else % for ConTeXt \input czhyphen.tex \endinput \fi Is there a more systematic/clean solution? Expert version: How to make empty pages by default empty?

Hi Hans (probably the only relevant recipient), while Patrick Gundlach could provide me a solution for all chapters in one file there still is no idea how to do it within the project structure. See for example the following: The generated empty pages after the TOC (page 2), and after the last chapter (14 and 15) all have pagenumbers. Quite ugly. How to get rid of them? How to make empty pages by default empty? Typo in d-en-all.tex

I uncovered an ancient typo. Here is a text fragment from the above document: \ShowSample {001} {A simple document} \ShowSample {002} {Setting up the page} \ShowSample {003} {Using the margin} \ShowSample {004} {Adaptive headers and footers} \ShowSample {004} {Some bookmarks} The 004 file is called twice, and the 005 file is omitted. Sounds like a case for 007 :-) John Culleton

Hi, I am posting this message I posted to the 'OS X TeX' group earlier this year relating to the same issue that Mathew is raising. I had no luck then but am hoping for more success now there are two of us. Hans says 'this is under discussion now with thomas/staszek/etc: has to do with urw metrics not being in tetex by default (they are on tex live)' However, Gerben's i-Installer installs them here in a different location than normal. (I think these are the only pair of files that are necessary for utmb8a to work.) /usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf.tetex/fonts/afm/urw/times/utmb8a.afm /usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf.tetex/fonts/type1/urw/times/utmb8a.pfb I believe that the problem is merely with texroot as I state below. Further evidence for this is that it nearly all worked before Gerben rearranged the directories. Earlier message....... Hi, Some of my previous font problems here were due to not enabling all of the font map file in the final configuration of the install. I think someone else had the same problem. Adobekb.tex is now helping me well, however I am finding it necessary still to run with the Context font system for some documents for the moment, and for this texfont has to run to create the various font files. Running the single command texfont --en=8r --ve=urw --co=courier --so=auto Should work but returns processing aborted : unknown tex root /sw/share/texmf/ Clearly texroot is set incorrectly so forcing that texfont --en=8r --ve=urw --co=courier --so=auto --fontroot=/usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf.tetex/ Should work but returns processing aborted : unknown subpath ../fonts/afm/urw/courier And yet /usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf.tetex/fonts/afm/urw/courier/ucrb8a.afm Exists This process worked in the v2 version of the i-installer indeed still works when reinstalled. I am presuming that the new problem is because of the texmf.tetex that the texfont perl script is now not able to understand. Perl is beyond my small brain! Any help much appreciated -- Nigel

Hi, Now I'm trapped in ConTeXt, I wish to reproduce a nice feature : when we mouse clic on a small (ex: 0.25\textwidth) picture, this one gets bigger (ex : 1\textwidth). It's for an A4 portrait double columns technical paper. Thanks for the tip. olivier Turlier
