Fit Width View

How do I tell ConTeXt to write the PDF file with the necessary information that acroread opens the PDF in 'Fit Width View'? I tried: % try setting "Fit Width" \ifx\pdfoutput\undefined\else \ifnum\pdfoutput>0 \pdfcatalog { /View /FitB } \fi\fi but can't find the correct value for '/View'. Error using \starttextbackground.

I want a gray background in a particular column. Here is some pertinent code (copied from details.pdf) \definetextbackground[bar] [backgroundcolor=textgray, backgroundoffset=.25cm, offset=.5cm, frame=off, location=paragraph, color=black] ...and here is where I want the background: \column \starttextbackground[bar] This is column three text with background and all kinds of other stuff. \stoptextbackground ...and here is the compile error: ----------------------------------------------- generating graphics : metaposting mpgraph.mp TeXExec 3.2 - ConTeXt / PRAGMA ADE 1997-2003 metapost : mpgraph format : metafun This is MetaPost, Version 0.641 (Web2C 7.3.7x) (mpgraph.mp >> spotcolors >> true ! Equation cannot be performed (numeric=boolean). <to be read again> ; l.23 spotcolors := true ; --------------------------------------------- If I use \startbackground(etc) in the same spot I get no error but I don't like the quality. (Classical) greek in ConTeXt/Gamma

Hello, I don't know if Idris is following the group (I hope he is), but anyway I have a couple of questions on the support for Greek in ConTeXt, Omega and thus also Gamma. The need is that of typesetting classical greek snippets in a latin (Italian, but could be English) context. I thought that ConTeXt+(e-)Omega would be the best thing in town, so I prepared a small test file: \usemodule[gamma] \mainlanguage[italian] \starttext Possiamo scrivere tranquillamente in italiano; questo non ci priva per\`o della possibilit\`a di scrivere in greco: vediamo subito l'alfabeto minuscolo e maiuscolo (notare come j dia \greek{j} e c dia il sigma di fine parola \greek{c}): \startgreek a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y z A B C D E F G H I J K L M N O P Q R S T U V W X Y Z \stopgreek \`E ovviamente possibile usare segni diacritici come gli accenti (\greek{`a, 'a, =a}) o gli spiriti (\greek{<r, >w}); osserviamo come questi assumano automaticamente la posizione corretta nel caso di lettere maiuscole (\greek{`A, 'A, =A, <A, >A, Ai}) \stoptext While it seems to work pretty well most of the time, there seem to be some problems; I'd like to know where they arise from and if and how they can be fixed. The problems: Combination Doesn't give <r rho with spirit =A capital alpha with circumflex <A capital alpha with spirit Moreover, I don't know how to write the subscribed iota. The command= option for \setupheads doesn't seem to work. Check the following document with the latest beta: \setupheads[command=\hcmd] \def\hcmd#1#2{#1 -- #2} \starttext \chapter{Chap 1} \stoptext A bug or I don't use it properly? /S

Framed paragraph

Hello, I think I'm using the wrong tool. I want a description environment, slightly narrower than the main text, and separated from the main text by a hairlines. If you compile the example below, you'll see that my attempt (apart from looking not quite balanced) will allow a page break between a hairline and the information contained in my description. This rules off the bottom of the page, rather than separating the description from the main text. What I would like is that the description be compelled to have at least a couple of orphan lines of the paragraph before a page break. Introduction to columnsets

Hello, I am working on typesetting a newsletter in ConTeXt. I have been very pleased with ConTeXt so far; I was previously using plain TeX, as I couldn't get the control I wanted with LaTeX. I have been able to do almost everything I wanted with ConTeXt. However, I have been having some trouble with trying to use floats and figures with my two-column layout. Since joining the list, I have heard a bit about columnsets, and they seem that they may provide what I am looking for. I have been able to set some figures, and a masthead, and double columns. However, I was wondering if there was anywhere a collection of information, however incomplete, that could help me figure out how this stuff works, or do I have to look through the source? Besides a few examples in the list archive, there seems to be little. And I don't want to have to ask on the list each time I need to figure out how to do something. I understand that the feature is experimental & that a manual is in progress, but it seems that this is what I want to use. On the other hand, if somebody else has a better grasp of advantages and disadvantages of columnsets vis a vis traditional columns, and could tell me whether or not I am on the right path, I would apprecate that too.
