Problem with letter landscape

Hello, I have been trying to typeset on landscape oriented 8.5x11 size paper. However, pdftex keeps giving me the wrong size paper (11 x 11.69, according to Acrobat). If I run regular TeX, then dvips, then ps2pdf, I get the right size. I apologize if this is strictly a problem with pdftex, but I believe that somewhere it is perhaps a problem with Context. Using MetaPost graphics in ConTeXt

Hello, I'm trying to use some MetaPost-generated graphics with ConTeXt, but I seem to be unable to do so. I have a file test.1 in the same directory as the ConTeXt source, which is as minimal as: \starttext \input tufte \placefigure[left] {Esempio di settore circolare} {\externalfigure[test.1]} \input knuth \stoptext but it seems like it can't find the file test (no extension); I tried adding options [type=mps] or [method=mps] or both, but each fails with a different error: either it looks for test.mps or it looks for test.unknown ... Q:Font ... not found

Running `texexec --pdf Skript.tex` I get a couple of warnings like the one below Warning: pdfetex (file eccc1000): Font eccc1000 at 720 not found and the file uses some replacement fonts that look unbearably ugly. How can I fix this? Thanks for your help. Marko

context + MacOS + accents

Hi, I'm using ConTeXt on my iMac (teTeX distribution through I-installer program) Everything seems OK except for inputing accentuated characters ... If I type \'a I got the correct character (accentuated a) but if I type directly the accentuated character from the keyboard, I got no result .... I start my document with \useregime[mac] (or \enableregime[mac]) but it does not change anything .... Any idea ? thanks in advance jp

Backgrounds

Hello, I would like to discuss a few points about backgrounds (\startbackground ... \stopbackground). First of all, it would be nice to have "background classes", so that I can have different backgrounds for different things without having to reset it each time. (Think \definebackground[this][options=values], \setupthis, \startthis ... \stopthis, as usual.) The second point is about the splitting capabilities in backgrounds. This is incredibly nice to have, but needs a little finetuning, IMO: it should be possible to specify whether the various options that concern the "border" of the background (i.e. background corner, frame, frame corner, etc) should act at split time or not; example: assume that I set my background to have a frame (frame=on) If the background gets split across pages, I get two "boxed" text: the first in the first page, the second in the second page. Instead, to show that the block continues on the next page, it should be possible to turn this off. I suggest options like: splitframe, splitframecorner, splitbackgoundcorner analogous to topframe/bottomframe and the like, which defines the behaviour of frames and angles in the "split area". Moreover (now I'm getting picky, but while we're at it ...) it would be nice, even for generic framed text, to be able to specify the behaviour of each single corner separately (say, top left and top right rounded, bottom left and right rectangular). -- Giuseppe "Oblomov" Bilotta

MetaPost/Fun question

Hello, I would like to know if it is possible in MetaPost (in particular MetaFun) to get all the possible intersection points of the paths, with some kind of simple command, with a syntax like, say: A[] := path1 intersections path2 (where the resulting list could be either a list of points or a list of time pairs, like for intersectiontimes). Another possible syntax could be path3 := path1 intersections path2 which would give a path for which times 0, 1, 2, 3, ... give the first, second, third, fourth, ... intersection point. Alignment of graphs/metafun

Hello Context, I (intend to) use metapost/metafun and m-graph to make my graphs. The graph module of metapost puts the origin at the left-bottom of the graph area, and the tick-marks and axis-labels are at negative positions (i.e. to the left or to the bottom of the zero line). This is nice, and I'd like to use this. I'd like to achieve the following effect: The graph-area is left-aligned with the text (has the width of the text-column), while the tick-marks and vertical axis label stick into the (left) margin. Furthermore (but possibly even harder) I'd like the tick-marks (at least the unrotated ones...) to be aligned with the grid I'm using. I can change the height of the graphs to match the grid nicely, but do you have any clues where to start? The problem I have is that the amount to overlap into the left margin is highly variable. The vertical alignment is possibly even trickier. Kind regards, Maarten Sneep
