Automatic selection of font shape depending on size

Dear All! Is there in ConTeXt an equivalent of LaTeX2e automatic selection of font shape depending on font size? For example, the following LaTeX statement (from type1ec.sty): \DeclareFontShape{OT1}{cmr}{m}{n}{ <-6> cmr5 <6-7> cmr6 <7-8> cmr7 <8-9> cmr8 <9-10> cmr9 <10-12> cmr10 <12-17> cmr12 <17-> cmr17 }{} means: for cmr family in OT1 encoding (series=medium, shape=normal) LaTeX will use: for font sizes < 6pt use (scaled) external font cmr5 for font sizes >= 6pt and < 7pt, use (scaled) external font cmr6 for font sizes >= 7pt and < 8pt, use (scaled) external font cmr7 . . . for font sizes >= 12pt and < 17pt, use (scaled) external font cmr12 for font sizes >= 17pt, use (scaled) external font cmr17). For example, if 5,5 pt font size of cmr font family in OT1 encoding (series=medium, shape=normal) is needed for typing text or math, LaTeX will automatically use external font cmr5 (cmr5.tfm), scaled to 5,5pt design size. For 24 pt font size -- external font cmr17 scaled to 24pt design size, etc. Is there in ConTeXt something like this? --------------------- Victor Figurnov

Footonotes and footnote references not appearing on the same page

Hello, I have a problem with footnotes: the references and the footnotes do not fall on the same page as soon as there is numerous footnotes on a page (something that happens frequently in my work). You'll find a source example and a PDF on: http://typo.free.fr/context/ Maybe is there something I'm doing that I should not. What I actually trying to do, is to make a diagram drawing package that I wrote for Metapost, work in ConTeXt. interactive links with keyboard control

Hi again, are there commands to control interaction via the keyboard? I have a field stack which can now be switched by clicking on a link, but I want to couple it to an event like, say 'key F1 pressed'. I have no idea how this could be done, so if there is no solution yet, I am grateful for hints where to start. In fact, when everything's finished, I would like to be able to control a presentation using a IR remote control via LIRC, and sending keypress events should be quite simple. Better solutions are welcome, it's just a raw idea at the moment. Btw, I'm asking many questions at present, but I promise to be modest again from next Tuesday on... Eckhart

m-chart: bug? and questions

I'm using dummy flow cells to have both solid and dashed connections originating from the same cell in a chart. I have noticed that having several nodes with no \name{...} defined confuses the chart macros: all connections refer to the same node. Giving arbitrary names to the dummy nodes solves the problem. Then two questions: (1) I couldn't find any setup parameters to manipulate the default font chosen for the the cells. It is by far too small (I'm preparing a screen presentation). (2) Is the option for half-grid steps requested by GB some time ago available? If so, how to use it? Eckhart

MPinclusions for drawing commands

In the following test file \setupcolors[state=start] \startMPinclusions drawoptions(withcolor \MPcolor{darkyellow}); \stopMPinclusions \startreusableMPgraphic{test} fill fullcircle scaled 1cm; \stopreusableMPgraphic \starttext \reuseMPgraphic{test} \stoptext I was hoping for a yellow circle, but it didn't work. I guess drawoptions are reset by beginfig? Is there a possibility to insert MP code for every figure in a document *after* every beginfig? Or how else could I set common drawoptions for all figures? Slideshow

Hi everybody, I just started with context and I was wondering: Is it possible to set timings into a context presentation so that we end up with an automatic slideshow? As far as I could see PDF allows this as one can do it with Acrobat Writer, and perhaps this is something obvious but I could not find any reference to it in the manuals. I tried to do with a little Javascript but my rudimentary knowledge of both Javascript and context prevented the achievement of any result. Best regards, Luís Neves P.S. Typesetting Russian -- lost kerning

Alexander Bokovoy (15/01/2003) said that russification by Olga Briginets (http://trash1.hotmail.ru) -- this is a russification discussed in NTG-ConTeXt -- is slightly obsolete. He modified it, and now it conforms 'teTeX-2.0 pretest-20030107'. Modified version is available at: http://people.altlinux.ru/~ab/tex/context-russian.tar.bz2 2. Vladimir Volovich (one of the authors of the cyrillic support in LaTeX) noticed that kerning in 8-bit fonts has been lost: "in Context the support of 8-bit encodings turned out to be so bad, that kerning is completely disappeared there. LaTeX is still not so bad, this thing is implemented much more neatly there." I installed the modified russification on MiKTeX 2.2 without any problem. But the kerning between russian letters is indeed lost. :-( In the same font, kerning between latin letters is retained. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Here are the installation instructions by Alexander Bokovoy (for teTeX 2.0 pretest (20030107)): 1. Expand russification archive to $TEXMF tree 2. texhash 3. Edit fmtutil.cnf to add 'cont-ru' and 'cont-ua' formats, similar to 'cont-en' 4. Rebuild formats. Making the pdf for the sample file: cd $TEXMF/doc/context/sample-cyrillic texexec --language=ru --pdf --format=cont-ru sample Presence of CM-Super is highly recommended. -------------------------------------------------------------------- My installation instructions for MiKTeX: 1. Expand russification archive to $TEXMF tree 2. Edit formats.ini (%TEXMF%\miktex\config\formats.ini) to add 'cont-ru' and 'cont-ua' formats, similar to 'cont-en' 3.
