luatools cache problem (beta)

I am getting Seravek in the file but no way to activate the oldstyle figures and the small caps. :-( Can someone give m a clue? Part dividers, American style.

Per the Chicago Manual of Style divider pages and their blank versos do not show page numbers but are included in the page count, just like any other pages. However the \part macro excludes them from the page numbering sequence altogether. And my current customer at least wants roman rather than arabic numerals. Hi, When using more than one font in a document, what is the corresponding \showbodyfont command for the non-bodyfont(s) ? I tried \showbodyfont[bodyfont] (1) \showbodyfont[non-bodyfont] (2) and only (1) gets processed and displayed. Same question for \showbodyfontenvironment. Alan

Hi all, I played some more with the new mkiv xml mechanism and am beginning to see the light: some things that turned out to be very difficult (at least for me) with the "old" mechanism are easy now. However, I still have a couple of questions: 1. I have this minimal file test.xml: <document> <itemize> <item> one </item> <item> two </item> <item> three </item> </itemize> </document> and this minimal environment test-style.tex: \startxmlsetups xml:mysetups \xmlsetsetup{\xmldocument}{document|itemize|item}{xml:*} \stopxmlsetups \xmlregistersetup{xml:mysetups} \startxmlsetups xml:document \xmlflush{#1} \stopxmlsetups \startxmlsetups xml:itemize \startitemize \xmlflush{#1} \stopitemize \stopxmlsetups \startxmlsetups xml:item \item \xmlflush{#1} \stopxmlsetups \starttext \xmlprocess{main}{\inputfilename}{} \stoptext When I run texexec --lua --env=test-style test.xml, I get output only for item "three," not for one and two. What am I doing wrong? 2. In every run, I get this warning: TeXUtil | check loading of file 'test-style', begin/end problem I don't see anything wrong with my files, though. Is this harmless? 3. I have a structure like this to get numbered labels: <lemmasection> <label>1234</label> <content> blahblah </content> </lemmasection> When I process this, I get unwanted spaces in my pdf; they disappear when I delete the newline and space between <content> and blahblah. Hi all, Taco, yet another question re the bib-module: I am wondering how to deal with place names (or other elements) in different languages. E.g., if a book has been published in Munich, I'd like the place to read "Munich" when the language of the document in which the bibliography occurs is German, "München" when the language is German. So is there any switch that would allow me to have something like this in my .bib- file: address = {\iflanguageelse{de}{München}{Munich}} Or do you have any other suggestions what I could do? Thanks! Hi all, There now is a wiki page documenting the setup and maintenance of mkiv: http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Running_Mark_IV The page can still be improved upon (of course), so if you know of something that needs to be added or explained better, please do so. I wrote this page with the texlive 2008 users in mind, but I think most of it applies to the new context minimals as well. For the people not on the texlive list: After ample consideration and discussion, we have decided that texlive will not attempt to do any configuration of mkiv at all other than making sure the three commands (luatools, mtxrun, context) are available in the bin directory. Everything else is left up to the user. But of course we don't want every single texlive context user to ask the same set of questions again and again, so it is helpful to have a wiki page that explains post-install configuration and maintenance. If you are a mkiv user already, or willing to experiment trying to get mkiv running, please have a look at that wiki page. By the way, context on texlive2008 will be 2008.05.21. Mkii (pdftex as well as xetex) runs out of the box, no post-install intervention needed. But if someone is willing to do some extra tests, that will be much appreciated. serious trouble with postponefootnotes

Hi, in a huge document (about 450 pages 1200 footnotes) I used postponefootnotes/flushfootnotes. Annoyingly this changed the page break for the entire book not only at the affected pages ... Searching the archive gave me a post by horaciosuarez_at_hotmail.com who had a similar problem in July 2007. Unfortunately he never got an answer. He used it in footnote conflicts with tables, me only in footnote conflicts with text, trying to avoid a bad page break. Now I ask the same: after using postpone/flushfootnotes is there a way to *reset* this again? Steffen

Hi, God bless the command \hyphenatedurl{...} ! Only, I am wondering why it starts a new line not *after* but *before* the slash, dot or whatever there is to structure a long url. Is this an english/dutch convention, completely different than paragraph wrapping? Or is it common usus, just me never noticed it outside ConTeXt?? Steffen

Hyphenmark and composed words

Hello, I tried to force hyphen in composed word with this : « composed||word » as explain in the manual. (Strange that context can't know that he can cut composed words after the dash, maybe it's only a french rule). In french, the hyphenmark is « - », not « – » (endash). So I tried \setuphyphenmark [sign = -] but no effect, I still get a « – ». This syntax : « composed|-|word » works. Manuel Pacheco Guerrero Pregunto en castellano por si alguien me puede ayudar: Normalmente uso la distribución texlive que instala por defecto ubuntu 8.4. con la cual no puedo ejecutar texexec --luatex (Luatools | using format name ~/luatex-cache/context/formats/cont-en.fmt Luatools | no luc/lua with name ~/luatex-cache/context/formats/cont-en) He bajado y descomprimido texlive2008 en un directorio temporal y he ejecutado el instalador install-tl, lo cual me ha creado el arbol de directorios y los ejecutables. Puedo ejecutar texexec desde el directorio ~/texlive2008/bin/ pero no texexec --luatex, que me da el mismo mensaje anterior de Luatools. ¿Me he saltado algún paso en la instalación?, ¿interfiere la instalación previa de texlive? XeTeX and precise font sizes

Hello there! I was googling around, but couldn't really figure out how to use OpenType fonts with ConTeXt and XeTeX with precise sizes in points. I am trying to create a subsection style with Gentium 24pt. I am creating a typeface like it's recommended in the documentation: \definetypeface [Gentium][rm][Xserif][Gentium] Then I create my own subsection style: \setuphead [subsection] [alternative=inmargin, numbercolor=orange, style=\Gentium] So far so good, but it actually types the subsection out with some pre- determined font size. What I'm trying to do is get my subsections at the size of, say, precisely 24 pt. Stuff like \definetypeface [Gentium][rm][Xserif][Gentium] \definefont [Subs][Gentium at 24pt] apparently invokes non-XeTeX font routines (pardon my ignorance): kpathsea: Running mktextfm subsections mktextfm: Running mf-nowin -progname=mf \mode:=ljfour; mag:=1; nonstopmode; input subsections This is METAFONT, Version 2.71828 (Web2C 7.5.6) kpathsea: Running mktexmf subsections ! I can't find file `subsections'. The best I was able to get was adding rscale \definetypeface [Gentium][rm][Xserif][Gentium][rscale=1.4] which is bad for two reasons: first, it's not logically correct, since I am planning to use my typeface for different sizes throughout the document, and second, I really want to control my sizes in points. Hi, I have a former ubuntu tex/context installation with fonts in /usr/share/texmf/fonts/truetype (opentype, etc... ) [1] as well as a tex/context minimals installation with fonts in /opt/context/tex/texmf/fonts/truetype (opentype, etc... ) [2] the latter using for development under luatex/context (previously xetex/context). Can both font locations be used or is it better to copy the fonts present in [1] and missing in [2] ( for ex, truetype fonts ) from [1] to [2] ? Alan

I have set up the \chapter command thus; \setuphead[chapter][page=right,style={\nimbua},header=high] ....where nimbua is a font. The chapter head appears on a recto (odd numbered) page as expected but the verso blank page inserted where necessary before the chapter head has a running header. It should be blank. Adobe ArnoPro in mkiv

Hi all, I'm trying to use the Adobe ArnoPro font (just testing if it will work with ConTeXt). The font does work with ConTeXt/XeTeX, but not in mkiv. If I want the book title to appear on even pages and the chapter name on odd pages I hve to set up the pertinent command backwards as follows: \setupheadertexts[text] [chapter][pagenumber][pagenumber][Book Title] This is the wrong sequence per the manual on page 79. Hi, I can't seem to install ConTeXt manually. I've literally followed this page http://wiki.contextgaraden.net/Linux_User_Installation verbatim and I can't seem to compile even the most basic of documents. I'm running Fedora9 bit, and I do happen to have TeXLive with ConTeXt installed. The thing is I don't want to ruin the current install rather I'd like to have a version of ConTeXt that lives in my ~/. so that I can play about with it, I'm particurarly after the fonts that come with it. I've attached some files with the outputs of running the commands. a. source ~/.context_env $PWD/tex => results in nothing. b. mktexlsr => mktexlsrlog.txt c. texexec --version => texexec-version-log.txt d. texexec --check => check-texexec-log(copy).txt This simply doesn't work on my install it's meant to do what the author of the page said --- "This will give you a lot of lines of output including the versions of various scripts, the version of pdftex and the version of ConTeXt. It will also generate a test file and run it through ConTeXt. You should get a pdf file called texexec.pdf with the word "Test".". Didn't get anything :(. e. texexec first.tex => texexec-first-log.txt Ok now that's out of the way i've got a few questions regarding ConTeXt itself. 1. Is there an equivalent of the listing package? Take a look at listing-sample.pdf. Hi, I get different results when I compile the following file using mkii and mkiv. See the attached pdf output.
