writestatus not flushing

I am trying to follow the problems my typescripts create in mkiv. Using the \writestatus{}{} it turned out that its output to the console is delayed. And because the process seems to have entered an endless loop, I cannot zoom in on the error. The .log file turned out to be empty to. Is there a better solution? Hans van der Meer

(I am using `` for the left quotes, and '' for the right quotes.) I am having a minor but persistent problem. The text area don't get full of text. It jumps to the next page leaving several (4 ,5, 6) lines empty at the bottom of the text area. It happens in the middle of a paragraph. I found the command to have it in the margin or in the text area, but couldn't figure out how to locate the frame partially in the text area, and partially in the margin. minimals not working

I downloaded and installed the minimals. Running LuaTeX MKIV then hangs in TeXShop and must be aborted. Does someone knows what is amiss here? New to TeX, ConTeXt - How to conditionally include document sections?

Good day, Please pardon my newness to TeX, ConTeXt, and this list. If I violate list etiquette, I apologize and hope you will let me know. Thank you. I'm attempting to abandon the use of Word for a maintaining a growing set of 30 to 60 page documents that provide information on similar, but not identical, equipment at a range of locations. My idea was to create one ConTeXt project that, depending upon the definition of one string in the project file, appropriately adjusts the resulting document's title and pulls in component "foo" for location "A", "bar" for location "B", etc. My problem is, after playing with if, ifx, and ifcase for some time and digging through all the ConTeXt and TeX documentation I can find, I'm still not understanding how to accomplish the TeX/ConTeXt equivalent of: if <string in variable> equals <string> then do thing 1 ... do thing n else if... I've repeatedly come across information on ifthenelse in LaTeX, and in some quick tests, it does appear to do exactly what I want. However, while I've admittedly only played with LaTeX for a few hours, it seems to make specifying exact formatting somewhat difficult. As I'll be turning these documents into PDFs myself, rather than sending them off to a publisher, that's a concern for me. If someone would please point me to documentation or an example of how to accomplish string comparison based if-thens in ConTeXt, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you. -Stephen J. How to frame a float together with the caption?

When I do \setupcaption[intermezzo][ location=top, number=no, style=italic, ] \setupfloat[intermezzo][ frame=on, ] only the content gets framed; I'd like to have a frame (or background, for that matter) around all the float _and_ the caption. A la segona secció, s'introdueixen els conceptes estàndard de la Teoria Geomètrica de Grups. Entre aquests es mencionen els conceptes de diagrames de van Kampen, grafs de Cayley i funcions de Dehn. \subject{Conceptes bàsics} \subsubject{Paraules sobre un alfabet} En aquest apartat farem memòria de la definició de paraula (sobre un alfabet) i introduirem certes notacions i operacions estàndards que farem servir posteriorment. Recordem que un {\em alfabet}\index{alfabet} és un conjunt qualsevol de símbols, els quals anomenarem {\em lletres}\index{lletres}. Donat $X$ un conjunt qualsevol, agafem un conjunt d'inverses formals de $X$, que indicarem amb $X^{-1}$, format per símbols $x^{-1}$ per a cada $x \in X$. Formalment, $X^{-1}$ és un conjunt del mateix cardinal que $X$ juntament amb una funció bijectiva ${}^{-1} \colon X \to X^{-1}$, de manera que, per a tot $x \in X$, la imatge de $x$ per ${}^{-1}$ s'escriu $x^{-1}$. Tècnicament, pareix que el conjunt de paraules nul-homotòpiques per ${\cal P}$ és recursivament enumerable però no recursiu (és a dir, el seu complement no és recursivament enumerable). Això fa que el problema de la paraula per una presentació pareixi indecidible. Aquest fet és, precisament, el que va establir Novikov el qual va ser el primer en demostrar, l'any 1955, que existeixen grups finitament presentables amb el problema de la paraula no resoluble \cite[novikov]. Des de la dècada de 1960 fins a mitjans dels anys vuitantes (del segle XX), s'introdueixen diverses tècniques noves que permeten simplificar la demostració original, de 143 pàgines. Per mor d'aquest resultat negatiu, cal imposar condicions al grup $G$ per a què aquest tengui el problema de la paraula resoluble. Donat $X$ un conjunt qualsevol, agafem un conjunt d'inverses formals de $X$, que indicarem amb $X^{-1}$, format per símbols $x^{-1}$ per a cada $x \in X$. Formalment, $X^{-1}$ és un conjunt del mateix cardinal que $X$ juntament amb una funció bijectiva ${}^{-1} \colon X \to X^{-1}$, de manera que, per a tot $x \in X$, la imatge de $x$ per ${}^{-1}$ s'escriu $x^{-1}$. Donat un grup $G$, la seva taula de valors proporciona informació sobre el resultat del producte entre dos elements qualssevol. Donat $X$ un conjunt qualsevol, agafem un conjunt d'inverses formals de $X$, que indicarem amb $X^{-1}$, format per símbols $x^{-1}$ per a cada $x \in X$. Formalment, $X^{-1}$ és un conjunt del mateix cardinal que $X$ juntament amb una funció bijectiva ${}^{-1} \colon X \to X^{-1}$, de manera que, per a tot $x \in X$, la imatge de $x$ per ${}^{-1}$ s'escriu $x^{-1}$. How to add directory to input path?

Hello, I bet that I have already asked that, but I don't find or remember the answer. I would like to add some folders to TeX search path. Let's say that I have: main.tex sub/include1.tex and would like to use "\input include1.tex" inside main.tex without having to specify full path, in the same way as \setupexternalfigures[directory=...] can be used. I have tried \usedirectory, \usepath, \usesubpath, but neither works. Well ... actually \usepath works in mkiv, but not in mkii. If I use \usepath then \allinputpaths gets the folder I have specified, but it doesn't seem to work. Thanks, Mojca

Hi Hans, very often I have to fight (manually break) with URLs like these: \hyphenatedurl{http://www.innenministerium.bayern.de/imperia/md/content/stmi/bauen/themen/vergabe_vertragswesen/gesetze/aussetzung_tariftreueerklaerung_rs_080422.pdf } \hyphenatedurl{http://www.faz.net/s/Rub0E9EEF84AC1E4A389A8DC6C23161FE44/Doc ~E65CFA185AE41441FB3EB9E71083A9056~ATpl~Ecommon~Scontent.html} But doing it by \hyphenatedurl{...}\break\hyphenatedurl{...} is pure horror. Inter-document Cross References

I am trying to create cross references that span two documents, but am having trouble figuring out exactly how to generate PDFs where the cross references from one document to the other work. I'm following the project/product/component structure and my two documents are each a product in the same project. I normally run texexec from within the product directory, when I try running it from the project directory there is no output. Is it possible to have documents reference each other in this way? Why piece am I missing? I've looked through the documentation, wiki, google, this list, etc and I'm either searching for the wrong thing or there is nothing written about it. Thanks, Adam

Hello, I've tried to put a \relax at the end of the input file (file generated by vim) and also done some experiments with \removeunwantedspaces but I could not get rid of the space (vertical or horizontal) after the vim-typing.
