\usemodule doesn't complain when module is not found?

Hi all, I've been trying my first steps into the land of ConTeXt modules, without much success. What has been particularly annoying is that the \usemodule command seems to give no error or other indication that a particular module was not found. Consider below example: \usemodule{foobar} \starttext Foo \stoptext I would highly appreciate it if the above would fail with a "Module foobar not found" error (possibly even with locations where the module was looked for, but I'm not sure how that works exactly). Pstricks and Asymptote

I apologize if this has been asked before, but would appreciate if anyone could answer this again. (a) Is there an easy way to incorporate asymptote code in a Context document, like there exists in Latex. In latex you can include it between \begin{asy} \end{asy} (b) Is there an easy way to incorporate pstricks code in a Context document. If there is, does that way work both with MKII and MKIV or only with one of them. The reason I am asking is that eventually all the new Context features will be in MKIV. I want to know what graphics packages I can use with it other than Metapost. Thanks.

Remove bold face

Hello Everybody, My problem is the following: I'm creating chapter's titles with a mix of styles. For example. \chapter{ something {\bolditalic another thing}} This give me the result that I expect with my titles, but when I use this title's string to create a header, part of the header appears with the bold italic style on it and I would like to remove it. So far I have tried to define my header's style as normal but the bolditalic style keeps appearing on the "another thing" part. Is there a way to remove this bold style? Hi all, maybe there is already code for that, but I haven't found it: is it possible to have itemgroups where every single item is within a frame (this is something that may be interesting for presentations)? Just to give you an idea of what I want to achieve, here's a short example: \setuplayout[width=10cm] \starttext \setupframed[offset=2mm, corner=round, background=color, backgroundcolor=blue, foregroundcolor=white, frame=off, strut=no, align=normal, width=\textwidth] \startitemize[n] \item \framed{The text of this item is made very long because it is intended to show the effect of what happens when an item extends to more than just one line.} \item \framed{This item is relatively short, but also fills more than one line.} \stopitemize \stoptext The problem is the vertical alignment of the item number, which should be at the top of the frame. kpathsea510.dll couldn't be found

Hello, if I try to update the contextmininals (command line method under windows) or to reinstall contextminimals I get the message "mpost.exe" could not found because kpathsea510.dll are not found. The same happens with "pdftex.exe". The update or the reinstall stopped. I started the update with "first-setup.bat --keep" (initialized the tree with C:\context\tex\setuptex.bat C:\context\tex). On my contextminimals there ist no file named kpathsea510.dll. Only kpathsea500.dll etc. What can I do? Producing PDF x/1-a:2001 output.

At least two commercial printers that I use prefer or insist on the format PDF X/1-a:2001 output. The only way I have found to produce such in TeX without a pass through Adobe Acrobat Distiller or the shareware program Pstill is via the package pdfx.sty authored by CV Radhakrishnan and Han The Thanh. This in turn uses some other files such as xmpincl.sty. I wonder if this setup could be incorporated into some flavor of Context? Or even pdftex? After further experimentation, I am still stumped; so I am resending this. The attached file will compile only if I comment out (a) header=2pc in \setuplayout or (b) \setupbodyfont[lmodern,rm,10.5pt] or (c) \placelegend or (d) \dorecurse{3}{\input knuth} I am running MK2 using the penultimate beta in the ConTeXt Minimals. There is no improvement when I run the file on the ConteXt wiki (latest beta). Any help will be greatly appreciated. Alan

Hello, I need to set up 1.5cm/2cm page borders. Backspace in layout setup gives me expected result (distance from page to the text). According to the wiki, cutspace should do the same for opposite side of the page, but it doesnt. Indent missed after \placefigure[inner]

Hello, I've asked about this issue already, but probably my cry for help was missed ) After I include a grapichs with \placefigure[inner], the next paragraph is not indented. This looks very strange, because the figure floats at a side, and nothing suggests that new paragraph begins. I'm forced to issue \hskip0.7cm to imitate the indent. With \placefigure[middle], everything is OK because I use some magic setup kindly suggested by Wolfgang: \setupfloat[figure][indentnext=yes] Maybe I should expand this setup with other keywords? Pleaase, see attached image for illustration. Drawing vertical and horizontal lines inside a matrix

Hello, Can I draw vertical and horizontal lines inside a matrix? I wanted to bring this to your attention. It seems that setupsystem[random= ] command does not work with MKIV. If I use different numbers for [random= ] option the arrangement of items changes when compiled with MKII but do not change when compiled with MKIV. I tried emailing the above message with my email, but it bounced everytime I sent it. Do you know what might have happened. Thanks.

mkiv math delimiters and <|>

Hello, I have tried to compile an old document (written in mkii times). Among other problems that I yet need to isolate, the following minimal example doesn't want to compile: $\bigl| x \bigr>$ since <|> aren't recognized as candidates for delimiters. There is a workaround of course (using \langle, \rangle, ... instead of <>), but the three characters are just way too handy to use. I suppose that the behaviour in mkii comes from these lines: \definemathcharacter [<] [nothing] [sy] ["68] [ex] ["0A] \definemathcharacter [>] [nothing] [sy] ["69] [ex] ["0B] But I'm not sure where mkiv could be changed. I have tried to use adobename="greater", ... mathspec={ { class="binary", name="gt" }, { class="close", name="rbrace" }, }, but without any success. Mojca

footnote-number-alignment

Hello, after struggling some weeks to get everything to work, i'm now nearly satisfied with typsetting via context. But there is one problem left for that i cant find any solution, even after googling for hours. I am typesetting documents with a large amount of footnotes, and want to have the footnote-number aligned to the correct decimal place. The footnotes appear in an "numbered-list" style. To explain: page one has footnotes 1 to 8, numbers are left-aligned, everything is good ----- 1 footnotetext 2 footnotetext 3 footnottext .... 8 footnotetext page two has footnotes 9 to 12, so I want to have 9 footnotetext 10 footnotetext ... but i only get: 9 footnotetext 10 foootnotextex. I think, there is no easy solution, but maybe someone can give me a push to the direction how i can realize that behaviour (btw same problem is with numbered lists, and to make it really complicated, i do need the behaviour even with multicolumn footnotes) Any hint is welcome, Thanks a lot Achim Jander

Hi, there had been a question on the list from Vyatcheslav Yatskovsky how to get indented text inside of itemize and after i spent a few hours on this problem the answer is it's not possible. problem with mathaligned in MkIV

Hi all, I was using the following macro from Aditya's Mathalign "My Way". It worked great with MkII and old versions of MkIV. However, it failed in recent versions of MkIV (e.g. 2009.11.2). Apparently, the \makesectionnumber and \rawreference macros have be removed. I wonder if anyone can give pointers on how to fix this. In LaTeX with babel option german there are several shortcuts needed for typesetting german texts with their large amount of composita. Some of them are defined in Context, too, but not all (maybe I didn't find them yet). In typesetting german there is the need of breaking up some ligatures, too. I want to create a pdf-document which has severall frames in which user supplied data has to be put. I have two questions about this: - How can I use parameters to fill the boxes? - When one or more of the supplied texts does not fit its frame the pdf document is 'corrupt'. reducing the space after the enumeration heading

Hello All, I have defined the following enumeration: \defineenumeration [Problem] [location=top, text=Problem, between=\blank, before=\blank, after=\blank] Now for one of the problems, I want the heading "Problem 13" to appear not on the top, but on the left. So before this particular problem I entered \setupenumerations[Problem][location=left,stopper=:] \Problem (From book XYZ) The issue is that there is a big space between words "Problem 13:" and "(From book XYZ)". How can I reduce this space so that it is equal to the standard spacing? Thank you.

Hello, I found a bug (?) with \setupfloat[figure][indentnext=yes] If I do Some Text \placefigure[middle]{}{...} Some Text then it's ok, but if Some Text \placefigure[inner]{}{...} Some Text then the next paragraph is NOT indented. You almost saved my life! ) In spite of previously said, I don't like mixing Termes with Times New Roman, because e.g. "M" in math looks rather like bold "M" in the text. But I made a hack which works for me: { name = "timesi.ttf", vector = "tex-mi-txpx2", skewchar=0x7F }, I just replaced texgyretermes-italic.otf with timesi.ttf. Hello, I am using natural tables to make tables in my document. Can someone please tell me how I can prevent context from applying features I choose for an earlier table to a table that appears later in the document. Following is an example of two tables. The problems I see are miktex executables which are in the PATH and can interfere with their context aequivalents. How exactly are you starting scite? Wolfgang
