setting margin for second level of itemize

Hi, I want items to display as follows (| represents the text area edge) | 1. First item | 2. Second item | 2.1 Sub item | 2.2 Sub item | 3. Figure Background Colour

It seems, after several preflights, that option=always in \setupbackends still does not work. Is anyone able to try to produce such a file an offer it for preflight? I have tried it on both win and unix standalone installations, have icc profiles placed correctly but Acrobat still says the same… Thanks, Honza Hejzl

Hi All.. In the charts module you can set a whole cell to be a hyperlink \destination {url(http://www.talkphysics.org)} So what can I write to link to a local file? Along the lines of… \destination {url(file://XXX.pdf)} …where the pdf is in same directory as the file containing the target… This seems as if it ought to be kind of simple, but also seems undocumented… Thanks Ian

Hello, I am re-posting my question because the last one was not clear and properly written. I am trying to set captions like paragraphs where the label is indented negatively, like in case of itemize lists. I was successful with the shape (\hbox{\vtop ...}}) but don't think my solution is useful. I am not able to set this via \setupcaptions and styles. Custom parameters/options for t-vim

Hi, I worked with t-vim a bit more and encountered a small problem with the way vim handles syntax definitions. Some of them have several modes that get activated by setting a variable first. For example the syntax "sh" (shell scripts) can be enhanced for bash, ksh, etc. Example: let g:is_bash=1 set syntax=sh Now a line like "export foo=bar" is highlighted differently than when I would omit the "let g:is_bash=1". Therefore I would propose another options to \setupvimtyping to specify custom options to be passed to vim. Preferably they should be passed at least before the "set syntax=..." line to make sure that this particular case -- i.e. switching syntax modes -- works well (which may be the only necessary case). -- Best Regards, Andreas

Captions, negative indenting and \par

Hello, I am trying to set captions like paragraphs where the label is indented negatively, like in case of itemize lists. I was successful but now I cant set the text like a paragraph, it means I need hyphenation. transparency problem (mkiv)

Hi, I noticed some problems with transparency colors lately. But every time I tried to make a minimal example out of it, the code worked. Exported figures

Hi Hans, Two bugs in figure export: 1. If one uses images without extension, then the generated \jobname-images.css file does not contain any extensions; so no figures are shown in the output. One possible fix is to change \dotagfigure in back-ini.mkiv to \appendtoks % we can have differently scaled images \def\dotagfigure{\taggedctxcommand{settagfigure(,"\figurefullname","\figurefilepage",\number\dimexpr\figurewidth,\number\dimexpr\figureheight)}}% \to \everyenableelements % \figurefullname instead of \figurefileoriginal 2. What is the best way to handle multipage pdf images? ConTeXt mode in emacs: disabling raising of superscripts?

I hope my subject line says it all: if I type, say $x^2$ in an emacs buffer, with ConTeXt-mode, the "2" is automatically raised. This to me looks ugly. I've been searching through the emacs customization options but haven't yet found what I need. And I don't want subscripts lowered either. Any ideas? Bug in links in the list of splitted tables (standalone ver. only)?

Hello ConTeXist... I found a problem in functioning links in the final PDF document created in standalone MkIV. 1. When I create in standalone MkIV version more of splitted tables, then links in the list of tables are broken (numbering is fine, but when you click on an active link then does not work). 2. When I compile the source file by MkIV part of TeX live 2010 (ConTeXt ver: 2010.05.24 13:05 MKIV fmt: 2010.9.21) then numbering in the list of tables is broken (each of partitioned tables has a separate number) but links are OK. 3. When I compile the source file by MkII part of TeX live 2010 (ConTeXt ver: 2011.07.26 09:17 MKII fmt: 2011.7.26) then everything is fine. Is it a bug or I something wrong? TikZ: \@flushglue undefined

i don’t know if it’s a TikZ or a ConTeXt bug, but with the newest mkiv beta installed with mtx-update.lua, tikz fails when using the option “text badly centered” in combination with “text width”: \usemodule[tikz] \starttext \tikz\node[text badly centered, text width=1cm]{fail}; \stoptext gives: \tikz@text@action ...p =0pt\rightskip \@flushglue \leftskip \@flushglue \relax ... as it doesn’t occur with LaTeX, i think it might be a ConteXt bug.

Calligraphic math alphabet with xits

Hi, There are two calligraphic shapes in math, calligraphic (e.g., \cal) and script (e.g., \scr from RSFS). The default shape of \cal with xits is more like RSFS \scr than \cal. Does xits also have a less stylistic variant for calligraphic letters? If so, how can I select that? Aditya

How to properly handle synonyms in \getparameters?

Dear gurus, This question concerns both MKII and MKIV (I need the functionality in both, even though I will try to rewrite the MKIV part as soon as I have time). I have a command: \mycommand[a][newparam=value] with more or less the following definition: \def\mycommand[#1][#2]{% \getparameters[@@mycommand@#1@][#2] % ... some extra code ... } However I used to use \mycommand[a][oldparam=value] and now I would like to switch the syntax to \mycommand[a][newparam=value] but I would like the oldparam to keep working normally. I will read the value with \@@mycommand@a@newparam. My question: what is the most elegant value to do that? I can imagine something like \def\mycommand[#1][#2]{% \undefinecommand\@@mycommand@a@oldparam % pseudocode \getparameters[@@mycommand@#1@][#2] \doifdefined{\@@mycommand@a@oldparam} \let\@@mycommand@a@newparam\@@mycommand@a@oldparam % ... some extra code ... } but there is most probably some more elegant solution to that? Colored text in \type?

I'm writing up some computer notes for my students, and I have examples of variables and other commands which involve characters like % and underscore. These are typeset with \type{%t^y_8*&} for example. What I would like to do is to color these as well. However \color[blue]{\type{%t^y_8*&}} doesn't seem to work; nor does {\blue \type{%t^y_8*&}} So - how do I obtain colored text within \type? So, it is interesting and more complicated. The exact part: \setupbackend [format=PDF/X-1a:2001, intent=Coated FOGRA39 (ISO 12647-2:2004), option=always,% for a much bigger document :-) ] … seems to work on my Debian standalone ConTeXt installation (ok, I will test it again but it objected nothing (about ICC not embedded) in yesteday in Acrobat's preflight) but on my Win XP standalone one it doesn't work. I have the profiles in the same directories, of course. On Win it can't eat the comma, on Debian it can. Although the advice: \definecolor[cmykblack][k=1] \setupcolors[rgb=no,cmyk=yes,intent=overprint,textcolor=cmykblack] … seems very logical, it doesn't work, preflight still sees the text like a greyscale. Hello, When the current font-switch is bold, I would like the verbatim text inside \type{} to respect the bold mode. What is the right way to teach \type{} to automatically use bold or not? Embedding of ICC profiles and preflight

Hello, I am trying to embed a profile but it doesn't work. I am using: \setupbackend [format=PDF/X-1a:2001, intent=Coated FOGRA39 (ISO 12647-2:2004), file=CoatedFOGRA39.icc, option=always ] Acrobat Preflight says it has not profile embedded. Am I doing something wrong? The next thing is I am using text smaller than 12pt and nothing helps me to prevent ConTeXt to: 1) overprint the GRAY text (\setupcolors allows just to set cmyk-gray/rgb); 2) knockout text smaller than 12pt, what is not allowed in a good pdf file. Trying to compile \starttext \startMPpage graphictext "FOO"; \stopMPpage \stoptext using mkii (ConTeXt ver: 2011.05.18 18:04 MKII fmt: 2011.8.16 int: english/english) i get the following error message (./graphictext-mpgraph.mp (./graphictext-mpgraph.mpy ! Missing argument to begingraphictextfig. <to be read again> [ l.2 begingraphictextfig[ "(1);\nlinecap := butt;\nlinejoin := mitered;\nfill ... It seems, the .mpy file is broken. I use pstoedit version 3.50. Any suggestions? Hey folks, How do I set the body text foreground colour? Questions related to margin/dynamic layout

Hi, I have two questions related to margin: - is it possible to move footnotes to margin? - similar question: I want to have a list in the margin with all the indexes in the given page. How to make these possible? Third question is related to layout. I know how to change page layout for a particular page. but how to change layout for a page whose number is unknown? for example, I am writing a book that has several large pictures (imagine a portfolio, or a book introducing photography). in order to fit the pictures I plan to set each pictures as page background or layers, that spans 3/2 pages, while leaving the remaining span (1/2 page) for text. however, I don't know which page number the picture should be reside, but I know it should be put near some given text content. it's not possible to manually give the page number according to the content because usually document context/formatting change all the time. how to do that? Thanks.

filter and/or vim module in current beta

Hi, it seems the filter module doesn't currently work (in MkIV at least). It may be a problem with the vim module though, I'm not quite sure. The following example doesn't produce any output: -----8<--------------------------------------------------- \usemodule[vim] \definevimtyping[PASCAL][syntax=pascal] \starttext \startPASCAL program test; begin writeln('Hello World!'); end. \stopPASCAL \stoptext -----8<--------------------------------------------------- The output of context has only one line regarding t-filter: t-filter > command : I guess it's just "normal" then that there's no output ... if nothing is run. \setuplayout and splitted rotated tables

Hello everybody. I managed to set ConTeXt to properly split a rotated table. Now I have a big problem with the correct placement of page number in footer. If I set different layout and numbering in footer is OK then the table is badly divided. Is there some choices for layout settings so that the page numbering to work correctly in footer while the table rotated to properly divided? I tried many setups with diferent parameters of layouts but without succes. I'm beginning to feel that perhaps will not even possible do that. Must I turn off page numbering in footers, and manually put the data at the corresponding position on the page by using layers? Or exist any way to do it using \setuplayout? Splitting of rotate table

Hello ConTeXtist... How can I arrange for correct split of rotated tables? Division table does not respect margin of the page and on the next page is the rest of the table in the middle of the page (and not on the left edge). The table is placed separately on the whole page. Can reasonably arrange some trick? I guess I am missing something in my font handling here, but do not know what. Hans van der Meer This is the minimal example: \def\fontname{antykwa} \setupbodyfont[\fontname] \starttext Requested font = \fontname.\crlf \showbodyfont \stoptext This is my setup with respect to fonts: context/tex/texmf-fonts (link to /usr/local/textlive/2011/texmf-dist/fonts Executed: mtxrun --script fonts --reload Executed: mtxrun --script fonts --list --name antykwa giving as output: antykwatorunskaregular antykwatorunskaregular AntykwaTorunska-Regular.otf Below is the output of the minimal example. Mark that \showbodyfont names modern, not antykwa. I get the same result with other fonts mentioned in "fonts in context" page 69-71 as preloaded typescripts! For example calling typeface cambria it even gives an error: !
