Problem with MPpage

Hi all, next Metapost problem. \starttext \startMPpage pickup pencircle scaled 2mm ; draw (0,0)--(5cm,5cm) withcolor red; \stopMPpage \stoptext The resulting pdf does not show the whole red line. The size of the pdf is right but it is shifted to the upper right. Thanks for any help Lutz

Hi Hans, with the latest beta I still have to patch mtxrun to make xmldir work … Besides, the root-parameter (--root=some/path) don’t seem to have any impact. As an workaround I’m using \startmode[*first] \executesystemcommand {cd some/path && mtxrun --script tools --dirtoxml --pattern=*.pdf --output=some/path/xmldir.xml} \stopmode Thanks in advance Andreas

Hello, I have a reference list in a bibtex file. For example, an entry such as this one: @article{hirsch_does_2007, title = {Does the h index have predictive power?}, volume = {104}, shorttitle = {Does the h index have predictive power?}, number = {49}, journal = {Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences}, author = {Hirsch, J.E.}, month = dec, year = {2007}, pages = {19193--19198} }, Currently, this entry appears in my list of references as follows: Hirsch, J. (2007). Does the h index have predictive power?. Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 104(49), 19193–19198. I have two questions: - Notice that only the first initial appears? How to get both/all initials? - There is a point after the question mark, which is ugly. The same would go for a title ending in a '!', btw. How to get rid of it? Hi, I just tested the latest beta (2011.10.19 00:02) and get some curious results for transparent colors. For example \nopdfcompression \setupcolors[state=start] % mkii works \startMPpage fill unitsquare scaled 100 withcolor transparent(1,.5,red); \stopMPpage gives me an opaque(!) and very dark red (r=.12,a=1,t=1). Arranging: corruption of lists

Hello, I compiled a book with 353 pages... What I did: 1. compile the boek without arranging. This gives a correct TOC, correct lists of figures and tables. 2. compile the boek once with arranging enabled. This results in correct arrangement, however all lists are corrupted, wrong sorting and the page references are all wrong. Hi, I cannot figure out how to connect to the bottom right point (the small red one). Anyway, in the manual the shortcuts to address the individual points are not really explained. I blindly guess: tm - top middle t - top middle bl - bottom left br - bottom right bm - bottom centre b - bottom centre … However, in the following example it doesn't work. A special case: hiding section head information in the text but still keeping the TOC entry

Hi all, I had to deal with a special case. In my document there are only sections and subsections. The section titles are placed in a different place than they naturally would occur according to the coding in the text. What I needed to do is to hide the section title, having no placeholder/white space inserted but still keeping the entry in the TOC. \setuphead [section] [placehead=hidden] \setuptexttexts[{\placerawheaddata[section]} The first setup hides the title completely and does not insert any whitespace. It causes on the other hand, that the TOC entry is also hidden/gone. With the second command the data are flushed and end up in the TOC. Thank you Hans for providing this solution! Hi, although the following is an announcement of a pure MetaPost library, I thought that it might be of interest to this list, given the tight integration of MetaPost with ConTeXt. Metappeal is an extension to Plain MetaPost, providing a lightweight framework for consistent development in MetaPost. Metappeal 0.1.0 is the second release of this newborn project, bringing you new prominent features: - classes and templates; - delegation; - new basic data structures (bigints, bigstrings); - much better documentation (which is different from "very good documentation"). in addition to a unit testing framework, other data structures (arrays, records, stacks, lists, trees, mboxes, ...) and parametrized code blocks. Nothing graphical yet, sorry, apart from mboxes (getting classes right was hard enough). Hi, the \cite command behaves strange, when used in projects: The expected output would be: Me and You; Name, P..Test.. but it is only ; Name, P..Test.. The "context --help" shows the following option: --arguments=list set variables that can be consulted during a run (key/value pairs) It looks like something I need at the moment. There seems to be no further information on it, at least not be searching the wiki with "context arguments". I have the two questions: (1) how is the list given? context arguments=key1=value1,key2=value2 or context arguments="key1=value1,key2=value2" or otherwise (2) how are these values picked up inside the TeX-run for use in typesetting? Hello, compiling the following with 'context' \starttext \startformula J:\blackboard{R}^\infty \rightarrow \blackboard{R},f \mapsto J[f] \stopformula \stoptext produces a blackboard 'J' character in J[f] instead of a $J$. Lucida \colon, \lll, \ggg

I see dat in Lucida (I am using \setupbodyfont[lucida,sans,10pt]) various math symbols are recognized (no error) but their glyphs stay empty in the typeset product. I know there has been some discussion on Lucida and talk of "forgetting pfb's" and waiting for an opentype version. But can this be remedied fairly simply? I am somewhat attached to Lucida and would like to keep using it. Otherwise, is there some good (free) font selection to replace it, even if for the time being? Especially the fit with monotye and math I deem important. Thanks in advance, Hans van der Meer

Hi, In the vim module, I use vim to generate TeX code that looks roughly as ~~~ \SYN[Type]{public} \SYN[Type]{static} \SYN[Type]{void} main\SYN[javaParen]{(}String args\SYN[javaParen]{)} \{ System.out.println\SYN[javaParen]{(}\SYN[Constant]{"Hello World"}\SYN[javaParen]{)} ; \} ~~~ When generating pdf output, I simply set appropriate catcodes so that the line breaks and leading white spaces are significant. However, when exporting to xml, leading white space is ignored while line break is translated to <break/>. How can I export in such a way that leading white spaces are preserved (and ideally no <break/> is generated, but I can deal with that using CSS). Aditya

I found the following disparity in behaviour between \tfa, etc. and \tfx, \tfxx: \tfa, \tfb etc. do change mathsize too, but \tfx, \tfxx do not % These remedy it: \let\orgtfx\tfx \let\orgtfxx\tfxx \def\tfx{\orgtfx\dosetcurrentfontsize{x}} \def\tfxx{\orgtfxx\dosetcurrentfontsize{xx}} Is the difference intentional? \startmode and \ignorespaces

A little while ago I asked whether \doifmode and friends should have an \ignorespaces at the end. Hans Hagen answered "no" and after some reasoning (probably along the same lines as his) I agree with him. Thus one uses in a quite natural way: some text\doifmode{xyz}{ conditional text} following text doing nothing else than: some text conditional text following text. With regard to this it is understandable and correct that extra space is taken in the next construct: some text \doifmode{xyz}{ conditional text} following text. missing html entities in latest ConTeXt

When processing HTML with TeX Live 2011, all the entities are nicely converted into corresponding characters. With latest version of ConTeXt I get literal "le" instead of ≤ for ≤ or "hellip" instead of ... for … I will try to send a minimal version (the one I sent with MathJax can probably serve as a good starting point). bug: wrong subject name in headertext

Hello, the following example might not be the most minimal possible example, but I hope that it is short enough. I'm using \setupheadertexts [] [subject] to print subject into header, but the headers are screwed up in some very weird way. My real document behaves differently that this minimal example, but even here one can notice that headers say: - This is first heading - This is fourth heading - This is second heading - This is fourth heading instead of getting the second heading. Does anyone have any idea what is going on? Interpreting MathJax HTML in MKIV

Hello, I would like to manually create some HTML which would be displayed nicely in both HTML and PDF (using MKIV for conversion from HTML). To a certain degree I'm able to fake mathematics with <span class="math"><span class="letter">ax</span><sup>2</sup> + <span class="letter">bx</span> + <span class="letter">c</span> = 0</span> where <span class="math"> signals TeX to use \mathematics{...} and <span class="letter"> signals web browser that the letter has to be displayed in italic (I could use class="math", but this would also make numbers italic). But this is very cumbersome to write. MathJax offers an excellent way to enter math formulas in an easy way (see attached HTML), but I'm not sure how I could convince the XML parser to treat contents literally. Any ideas? Hello, I hope the answer is easier than the question :-) I am a ConText-Newby and am struggeling with the huge amount of ConText-commands. I want to make a little book with infos and fotos of our friends - and I am afraid, the nice layout I have in mind is to complicated or impossible with ConText - at least for me. The book will have 40 pages and every page with the same layout. I have posted the layout I want to use as a .png to http://www.imagebanana.com/view/f4o3un2c/Entwurffriends.png Which ConText-commands do I need for this layout? I tried \inmargin - without success. \definelayer and \setlayerframed worked (a littlebit) - though the running text (beneath the headline) runs through the layer. What seems the easiest way? layers, columns, ? Maybe someone here has a little example which I can finetune. Which hints can be given? I would be very happy about a rough structure of the context-code - I think then I am able to do the finetuning with the manuals. I am working with Linux - so Indesign is no alternative for me :-) Regards Jannis

Hi, the presentation template “Swoosh” behaves weird and triggers an error. • Use the example file generic-talk-15min-45min.tex • Comment “style=BigNumber,” • Uncomment “style=Swoosh,” The log file is attached. I am writing a module which uses metapost in the background for drawing. I wanted to create an interface for setting the style and color of metapost labels but using \doset...attributes is not working. Dear ConTeXt folks, I finally chose MetaPost/MetaFun [1] because of the native integration with ConTeXt and hopefully easy font handling. I want to use that throughout my document. Of course I hit the first problem. Wanting to draw a “simple” function f like f(x) = e^x, seems hard to accomplish. I guess I should stress that MetaPost does not have a high accuracy so it might not be the best solution [5]. There seem to be quite a lot of solutions (mostly macros) on the Web for this problem so I am wondering if one of them is integrated in MetaFun. Here are some of my findings. 1. Reading about the graph package by John D. Hobby [2] and which is also included in ConTeXt [3]. Especially I liked the automatic coordinate systems. The package seems to only be able to plot graphs with data points saved in files. So one solution would be to manually create data files with data points of the relevant function. 2. There is an example in the Drexel Physics Wiki [4]. 3. Anthony Phan has also created some macros in his `mps` [5 (currently not accessible)]. 4. André Heck uses the macro packages `courbes` and `grille` from Jean-Michel Sarlat to show some nice examples in his tutorial »Learning Metapost by Doing« [6]. So what do you suggest? Solution to a "superscript" problem?

Hello, I've been trying to come up with a few methods to add definitions to text with the help of the metafun and context manuals. The first method adds the definition as sort of a "superscript" on top of the word, and the second one marks multiple words with a curly bracket and adds the definition on top of the tip of the bracket. Lucida hangs (?) on latest beta

Encouraged by the recent User Meeting, I'm experimenting with sans serif fonts, trying to find something that I could use all over our documents (European languages) and that would be acceptable to the design people. One of the possibilities would be Lucida, but I'm not having much success with it... First I tried with the wiki, <http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Lucida>. The lucida.zip downloads and extracts nicely, but does not contain any .pfb files, so so much for that. Then I took a leap of faith and just put \setupbodyfont[lucida] in the setup area of my file and something is definitely happening, but then the process hangs.
