outlinetext, fractions, and square roots

Hi, When experimenting with outlinetext, I found it generally works well for both text and equations but seems to fail for fractions or square roots. The code below demonstrates the issue: ____________________________ \startMPpage draw outlinetext("$\frac{1}{\sqrt{2}}$"); \stopMPpage ____________________________ The ‘1’ and ‘2’ seem to be at the right positions, but the fraction bar and horizontal part of the radical are missing. MetaPost behaviour differs between standalone and \startreusableMPgraphic

I am in the process of converting a bunch of old TikZ notepaper templates to native ConTeXt and MetaPost. This is a part of a project to generate notebooks with documentation data and then blank pages appended to fill out full sheets, and then collated in a particular order for trimming and binding. As such I rely on Imposition. I am having issues with the various techniques of trying to duplicate a MP graphic across the pages using \[start|stop]MPcode \[start|stop]useMPgraphic, etc. But that is a discussion for another time. The method that I found to work was to use \[start|stop]reusableMPgraphic along with overlays I am still struggling with some MetaPost code that works fine in standalone but not when included in a ConTeXt document. With standalone MP, we get thicker lines on major increments as expected. When the same code is included in a ConTeXt document the thicker lines are only drawn up a certain number and then stop --- presumably the mod function returning a non-zero result when it really shouldn't? Are paths resolved relative to file location or calling location?

Hi, I have a (simplified) project structure like this: root-folder /asset /tex /results /source My tex file is stored under assets, the source is an xml file under source, the pdf should be saved under results. If I call context from within the assets folder, the pdf is created as expected, but if I call context from the results folder, I get an error message saying that the xml file is not found. As the file is created properly when I call context from the assets folder, I assume context performs lookups based on the calling location (not the file location). Is that correct? Is there a simple way to call context from the results folder and still have the sources found, or do I have to call context from the assets folder and copy/move the result afterwards? Best, Denis

The hat accent is misplaced in Libertinus. I just noticed this in the LMTX from January. mixed profiles in validation

Hi Hans (and Steffen), I get mixed profiles with the following source: \setupbackend[format=ua2] \starttext a \stoptext The latest version of VeraPDF (https://software.verapdf.org/) complains of both PDF-2 UA-2 detected and PDF-1.7 A-3a. In fact, only VeraPDF only validates PDF-1.7 (and results are a mess). I must admit I don’t know what may be causing the inclusion of the A-3a profile (marking). Any ideas about what may be going wrong here? Many thanks for your help, Pablo

Copy PDF text without hyphenated words

Hi, I recently learned that Typst seems to be able to produce PDFs where a hyphenated text can be copied without the hyphenation (so all words in the copied text are not hyphenated). I seem to recall that the PDF format has an extra mode for this, where the creation program can embed some text that should only appear when copied and replace the word parts that are visible on the page. ConTeXt, in it's default mode, seems not to embed this text. When copying hyphenated words, the hyphenated word parts appear as distinct words (even without the hyphen). Is there a way to tell ConTeXt to produce PDF where the text can be copied without hyphenated words? Gerion

Invalid href in ToC in exported html

extending protrusion values for Greek characters

Is there a way to add them (as an extension to "protrusion=quality" values) to a single document? This would be great to test them (to consider their addition to main ConTeXt in the future). Now the image is slightly moved to the right (a divider 42mm wide by 2.5mm height). What can i do? Please help. Problem with LMTX and heading with alternative=margintext

The following example produces the expected result under --luatex. It hyphenates the long word and positions the chapter number within the frame. Under LMTX, the long word is not hyphenated and the chapter number is shifted out of the frame. \setuphead [chapter][alternative=margintext] \starttext \chapter {Establishment} \input klein \contextversion \stoptext The problem goes back at least to version 20240621 (running on https://www.context-on-web.eu/) I did not experiment with other mechanisms that place text into the margin. -- Rik

setting the space after a figure

Hello, I want to set to space between a figure (float) and the main text. I thought this worked: \setupfloat[figure][spaceafter=2cm] but it does not, while this: \setupfloat[spaceafter=2cm] works, but -- I suppose -- it does effect every float, not just figures. compact fonts, fake slanted and \definefallbackfamily (LMTX only)

Dear list, I have the following sample: \enableexperiments[fonts.compact] \definefallbackfamily [mainface][rm][Dejavu Sans] [sl={style:regular, features:slanted},preset=range:greek] \definefontfamily [mainface][rm][Latin Modern Sans] %[sl={style:regular, features:slanted}] \setupbodyfont [mainface] \starttext αβγ9 some word others\\ \sl αβγ9 some word others \stoptext The only way to get slanted Greek is either with disabled compact fonts, or with fake slanted added to \definefontfamily. I’m experiencing this with LMTX only (MkIV is fine). I’m using current latest (2025.02.07 20:46). Could anyone confirm the issue? Many thanks for your help, Pablo
