Trying to use an OTF font just for the title page. Issues with the legend mechanism

Hello, which is the most correct way to display units (here: kN) in math formula? ---- \starttext \startformula a = 210 kN % "kN" is shown like a variable (here: like 'a'), which is unwanted \stopformula \startformula a = 210 \unit{kN} % No unit is displayed (?!) \stopformula \startformula a = 210 \text{~kN} % '~' required?, ugly way \stopformula \stoptext ---- TIA. punctuation vs font switch

Dear all, at the risk of being met with an incredulous shake of the head: I am using xits as math font and pagella as main font (for several reasons). Obviously, the punctuation (in particular "comma") does not match. Is there an easy and quick global fix!? Your help is very much appreciated. Strange behaviour by processing a project file

Hello, I have the following file structure: * file "my-project.tex" contains: \environment my-environment \startproject my-project \product my-product1 \product my-product2 \stopproject * file "my-environment.tex" contains: ... font definitions, style definitions etc. * file "my-product1.tex" contains: \project my-project \startproduct my-product1 ... \stopproduct * file "my-product2.tex" contains: \project my-project \startproduct my-product2 ... \stopproduct Now, when I process the product1 with "context my-product1.tex" I get the output in my-product1.pdf as expected. But when I try to process the whole project with "context my-project.tex", the file is processed but I get no pdf output, which surprise me, because in the reference manual contextref.pdf I read: "In principal a project file contains only a list of products and environments. If you would process the project file all products will be placed in one document. This is seldom wanted." So I would expect to get one pdf outputfile with all products. Could anyone explain me, why I don't get any pdf output? Best regards Pavel

TABLE and row/column align settings

Hello, I have a complicated TABLE, but I simplified it to the following example: ---- \def\DoTable#1{% \bTABLE \setupTABLE[width=2cm] \setupTABLE[column][#1][align=flushright] % ....................................................... [1] \setupTABLE[row][1][align=middle] % Settings for ALL columns in the row 1 should be overwritten ... [2] \bTABLEhead \bTR \bTH a\eTH \bTH b\eTH \eTR \eTABLEhead \bTABLEbody \bTR \bTD a\eTD \bTD b\eTD \eTR \eTABLEbody \eTABLE } \starttext No column specification: \DoTable{} With column specification: \DoTable{2} \stoptext ---- The problem is that row #1 should be mid-aligned in all columns. So I wrote: ---- \setupTABLE[column][2][align=flushright] % Column #2 has its own alignment... \setupTABLE[row][1][align=middle] % ... but overwrite here for the whole row #1 (including column #2) ---- But column #2 keeps the previously assigned alignment. The situation doesn't change even if I swap [1] and [2] (for the case "the earlier setting, the higher priority"). Moreover, if the column number if not specified (\DoTable{}), the row setting overwrites setting for ALL columns; so only if the column is specified precisely, its setting is kept. So how to overwrite row #1 setting globally? And how setting priorities are evaluated? I guessed the later specification, the higher weight (which would allow overwriting)... Note that in the example it would be possible to specify settings for each row/column, but it not useful way in the case of more/very complicated tables. TIA. Best regards, Lukas -- Ing. Problem with new version

Hello, yesterday I upgraded my debian and I found out that my previsously prepared publication cannot be compiled with the new version of ConTeXt. Split \starttabulates

Dear all, I have a number of tables defined like this: \placetable[here][tab:some-table]{Some Table} \starttabulate[|w(.30\textwidth)p|w(.70\textwidth)p|] \HL \NC {\bf Animal} \NC {\bf Comment} \NC\FR \HL \NC Cat \NC Pretty cool \NC\MR \NC Bear \NC Kind of lazy \NC\MR \NC Sheep \NC Always hungry \NC\MR \HL \stoptabulate However, I need one of these tables to split over adjacent pages, which according to the documentation should be achievable with \setuptabulate[split=yes] However, that does not seem to work in connection with the \placetable line. That is, if I put that last line in front of the block mentioned above, the table does still not split across adjacent pages. I have to remove the \placetable line for the \setuptabulate line to have any effect, except then I loose my caption and can no longer cross-reference to table either. Any clues? Thank you, Malte.

xits font: some spacing and scaling problems

I wanted to send this directly to Khaled Hosny, but then I thought it might be good to have some additional opinion on some of these issues (I am not quite sure if some of this is intended behaviour). I have collected some examples for which I think there are some scaling and spacing problems in xits. Also, small caps are not supported. Is this intended?! Thanks for your help. I must admit than tabulate's behavior seems more natural to me, but this may be just my point of view. Anyway, why the behavior of alignment specification is different for {\b/e-TABLE, \inframed, \start/stop-alignment} and {\start/stop-tabulate}? Wouldn't be nice to unite it? Where should I put a module if I have the following project strucutre? math-books/ math-books.tex environments/ layout.tex products/ book1.tex book1/ chapter1.tex chapter2.tex book2.tex book2/ chapter1.tex chapter2.tex I have a "my_module.lua" and a "my_module.tex". Where should I put those files? How do I configure my project to use my module? How do I call my own module from "book1/chapter1.tex", for example? Thank you, André Caldas.

counter reseting at every heading

Hi, few months ago (18th may) I asked about how to setup a counter that resets after each heading (chapter, section, subsection, subsubsection and so on. I got three possibilities then but none of them was implemented (and still is not): 1) \definecounter[ParagraphNumber][prefix=no,way={bychapter,bysection,bysubsection,bysubsubsection}] 2) \definecounter[ParagraphNumber][prefix=no,way=byheader] 3) \setuphead[chapter,section,subsection,subsubsection][after={\resetcounter[ParagraphNumber]}] as soon the spaces are defined over spaceafter instead of after. Is there a forth option out? Or can anyone tell me what the defaults spaces are so that I can copy them manually? Thanks P.

mkiv: way to signal extra run(s)

Hi, just wondering. Is there a official way to signal ConTeXt from a module, that an extra run is needed? I started thinking about adding bookkeeping for the created run time graphics. Graphic related changes can then be detected and, if necessary, extra runs can be started to update the changed graphics. I need the second run to create and start the ImageMagick batch script, but the collected info in the *.tuc file prevents ConTeXt from starting a second/third run. Currently I use a batch file that simply deletes the *.tuc file and then calls 'context'. As there is no bookkeeping, all the graphics are recreated then. Peter

Conditionals

I have a list of numbers, 2, 6, 7, 8, 12, 14, 18, 20, 186, 188, 316, 318, 354, 372, 376 that I would like to use as exceptions in a \dostepwiserecurse loop. That is, within the loop if \recurselevel is NOT EQUAL to either of these numbers, then I want to do something -- otherwise, I simply increment \recurselevel. \define a command with square-bracket arguments

Hi all, As I understand it, \define[2] is preferred over \def#1#2 because it refuses to overwrite existing commands. \define[2]\mycommand{code code code} defines a command to be invoked with \mycommand{...}{...} Can I use \define, or a related command, to define a command that takes square-bracket arguments, like so: \mycommand[...][...] ? When I type \define[1][2]\mycommand{code code code} that doesn't work. Cheers, Sietse
