Controlling vertical position of floats

Hi again, \placefigure[right,<option>]{caption}{figure} does different things with option being (a) empty, (b) high, (c) low. Could anyone explain to me the exact meaning of these three alternatives? Also, is it possible to manually fine-tune the vertical position, so that the figure seems optically aligned with the surrounding text? How to get bolder and larger item symbol?

Numbering subformulas

Hi Aditya, It seems that numbering subformulas as described in your « My Way » magazine entitled « Using \startalign » does not work with mkiv. The following minimal example taken from page 6 of the above mentioned manual, does not result in what is described there: \starttext \placesubformula \startformula \startalign \NC a_1 x + b_1 y \NC = c_1 \NR[eq:c][c] \NC a_2 x + b_2 y \NC = c_2 \NR[eq:d][d] \stopalign \stopformula (\in[eq:c]) and (\in[eq:d]) form a linear system of equations. \stoptext Is this a known bug? Parameter scale in copypages in latest beta

Hi, I was importing a PDF inside my document, but the scale parameter is now ignored. It's reproducible with any PDF with: \starttext \copypages[tt.pdf][scale=500] \stoptext Any idea ? Thanks Charles

Index and Publications suddenly remain empty???

Dear ConTeXt users, I am bothered by this seemingly simple problem that suddenly occurred these days, while the same TeX code produced the Index and Publications chapters properly when compiling the document last May. I use the latest stable version (from May 2012) of ConTeXt on a recent Linux with TeXLive 2012 and bibtex 0.99d. The PATH is correct. m-graph.mkiv format bug

There is a bug with format() as redefined in m-graph.mkiv 1e10 and 1e-10 truncate the tailing 0. (I have not been able to fix the code...) Once, I've read about someone who, a long time ago, found it really difficult to look for pages related to LaTeX on the internet. He used to get a lot of "fetish" related pages!!! bug?: component inside component

Hi, I tried to recompile a book (no project file, 1 product file, many component files) the first time for a while - but now it breaks with weird and random error messages. It starts when I have a component inside a component.. but only when I have more than just a few pages text. And is stops with e.g. "a missing bracket", "one bracket more than needed", "math module missing" etc etc. It is definitely not one of the reported errors.. and the error message changes as I add or remove some text (letters, paragraph). Also I realized that references over components borders don't work any more (they link to an external document: componentname.pdf). Is this a known bug? I found some remarks regarding broken references over component borders. Does there exists any other way of integrating tex-file into tex-files for context? I will continue trying to isolate the error.. but atm it tricks me pretty well. Thanks in advance H.

Problem with ConTeXt (MkIV), Hebrew and ligatures

This is a problem originally posted in TeX/StackExchange. However, since I have not had any luck in finding a solution I post it here too. It now seems to combine Hebrew characters automatically when possible to ligatures. So for example. If I have a word with following two characters: U+05D5 (HEBREW LETTER VAV) U+05BC (HEBREW POINT DAGESH OR MAPIQ) ConTeXt will combine these to: U+FB35 (HEBREW LETTER VAV WITH DAGESH) However, I would need to disable this feature for a number of reasons. For example, this breaks my little database query, because the query key is changed before(?) macro gets it. So if somebody would know how to turn this off and maybe also that what has changed." \unit and french

Hi all, As you know, the french number format is almost opposite to the english one: period and comma have opposite roles. My question concerns the way to render properly numbers in french with the \unit command. I already tried different combinations of \setupunit[method=,order=] but I can’t find the right way. I tried even to type french or english format as input for \unit but none output is right (actually I'd prefer to type french format as \unit input). Also, when there are "three digits" separators on both sides of the decimal point, some method outputs are not consistent. I attached a not so minimal exemple. Misplaced figure

Header without chapters/sections

I would like to create a header on every page with some fixed text in the header. Simply doing \setupheadertexts[Some text] \setupheader[state=start] Does not produce a header on any page, yet \setupfootertexts[Some text] \setupfooter[state=start] does produce a footer on every page. Need help with \definetabulate

Hi, I am trying to define two tabulate styles as follows: - \setuptabulate[split=yes, bodyfont=small] - \setuptabulate[split=yes] ...such that I can just refer to them when I \starttabulate...\stoptabulate somewhere. I thought, the command \definetabulate would come in handy here, but I can't work it out and it appears the documentation on that command is pretty scarce. http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Command/definetabulate Any help? Header-Footer-Layout

Hi, I would like to have a doublesided layout with: - a titlepage with neither header nor footer, - a frontpart with pagesnumbers(left/right) in roman - a bodypart with pagesnumbers(left/right) in arabic - an appendix with pagesnumbers(left/right) in arabic - first page of a chapter should not have a header + underline - next page header(CHAPTER #: chapter) underlined - next page header(section) underlined - if there is no section then only the line. - if the next page is empty than only the pagenumber should be printed. Error with \section name

I encountered a strange error. If the section name contains "iffer" then an error is produced, with some joke-like comments. Minimal example: \starttext \chapter{One} \section{iffer} \stoptext The original title was "Differentiating an integral" but I kept taking away until I got to "iffer". Symbolsets, using Unicode symbols?

Hello! I'm having one of those ConTeXt moments when I feel really stupid, but I just cannot figure this out.... I'd need the heart symbol. You know, the one that goes on Facebook as <3. I think it is this Unicode symbol: ♥ U+2665 BLACK HEART SUIT ♥ or ♥ or &hearts; I'm using the LucidaOT (Unicode) font and my Mac should have some other of the basic symbol sets, but I just cannot figure out how to use the above knowledge to dish out the heart. (TeX culture shock, I think, I don't care about gazillion maths operators, I want my Dingbats and other little decorations.) I found the Symbols wiki page at http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Symbols, but cannot figure out how to implement it: - the command \usesymbols[uni] gives 'symbols > unknown: library 'uni'' in the log. - the command \showsymbolset is just as hopeless: command \showsymbolset not found in file symb-run So, what bit in that process have I missed or not understood? I'm running mkIV in ConTeXt version Aug 17, 2012 in a Mac laptop. As Unicode and all that have been around for ages, this problem must be one of those you find between the chair and the screen! Chapters without chapter number

Hi all, I would like to ask what is the best way to achieve this: The title line of the chapter should be without the chapter number, but the chapter number should be on all subsequent pages in the header. I tried this: \setuphead [chapter] [header=empty, number=no ] \setupheadertexts[{\getmarking[chapternumber]. \getmarking[chapter]}] which makes the title of the chapter on the first page correctly without the chapter number, but then I have no chapter number on subsequent pages in the header. It looks like setting "number=no" in \setuphead definition breaks my expected behaviour of marking. So I tried: \setuphead [chapter] [header=empty, sectionnumber=no ] but id didn't work either. So I ended by: \def\MyChapterTitle#1#2{#2}% \setuphead [chapter] [header=empty, command=\MyChapterTitle, ] \setupheadertexts[{\getmarking[chapternumber]. \getmarking[chapter]}] which is working like expected, but I wonder, why I am not able to achieve the result using keywords "number" or "sectionnumber".
