I would like to convert my ConTeXt document to both PDF and "plain" HTML. I need plain HTML output (i.e., not XML or XHTML) because my institution's web based management software allows me to copy/paste plain HTML snippets but not XML or XHTML. Is it possible for ConTeXt to output HTML so that the result looks as close to the PDF output as possible? Troy Henderson

[OT] For Dutch TeXies: exposition in Leiden on 330 years of academic typesetting+publishing

Hello all, (This will probably only interest Netherlands-based TeXies, sorry. But I'll write it in English, so at least everyone can read it. ^_^) There's an exhibition on in Leiden about historical academic typesetting, to celebrate the 330th anniversary of the publishing house Brill. Perhaps this exhibition would be fun to go to with some ConTeXt users? I would like to use the section symbol \S as the symbol of an itemized (non-enumerated) list. It seems that the wiki shows 9 predefined bullet types, but I don't see how to use a custom bullet type. Troy

Spurious line when indenting with tabs using database module

Hi, I get an extra line when I use tabs for indentation, indenting with spaces works fine. bug in paragraph notes

Hi Hans, two months ago, I reported a bug with paragraph linenotes not properly separated from body. Vertical alignment in combinations?

Today I feel like a total ConTeXt dummy... The problem: I have 3*1 combination where the end graphics are the same size, but the middle graphic is much shorter. With a standard \startcombination\stopcombination I can easily get all three side-by-side, but they are bottom-aligned while I'd need them middle-aligned. I thought I once had a solution to this, but can't find it - and, for once, the garden doesn't seem to be able to help. Is there a setting I can use to fix the vertical alignment? Or should I give up with combinations and go for a natural table instead? Or do something totally else? Thanks, Mari

Hi Wolfgang, the following sample seems not to select the right math font: \usemodule[simplefonts] \setmainfont[TeX Gyre Pagella] \setmathfont[TeX Gyre Pagella] \starttext The basic operation $ 1 + 1 = 2 $. \stoptext I'm afraid this might be a bug, since the sample is taken from the source code hosted at Bitbucket. Footnote rule colour

Dear ConTeXt list, I am trying to use footnotes in a presentation, and the text colour I am using is white. Now, I've managed to set up the frame I want, and the footnote appears in white, but the line rule above the footnotes still appears black. Volunteers for testing a native rsync binary on Windows

Dear ConTeXters, I've found a rsync binary on MinGW project page: http://sourceforge.net/projects/mingw/files/MSYS/Extension/rsync/rsync-3.0.… If there are any volunteers to test how the binary behaves when replacing the one from http://distribution.contextgarden.net/setup/context-setup-mswin.zip with the one from mingw, I will be grateful. The idea is to fetch context-setup-mswin.zip, delete cygiconv-2.dll, cygwin1.dll and rsync.exe, try to replace them with the binary from MinGW and test if everything still runs smoothly after that. If it does, I would prefer to use the binary from MinGW. Mojca

Find too long sentences

Good Friday there, working on a book with many too long sentences, I got the following idea/question: Is it possible to recognize the length of a sentence, and to let context show in the pdf, if there is a too long sentence. For example I am thinking of an command like \version[longsentence,15] which sets an symbol like "*" in the margin, if a sentence has more than 15 words. First, correct sentence-regonition could be a task: It is not enough to count the words between two dots, because of abbreviations. But there is probably a known algorithm for handling those problems. I think a feature like this could be interesting for context (and for my work :D) Thanks for you comments Huseyin

Search path for external figures changed

Hi, recently there was a discussion about search paths for external figures. Now I noticed that the search path is much stricter than it used to be and by default only local images are found. Is it intended that images are not searched in the texmf tree unless explicitly told to do so? Alignment problem with labels and textext

Labels without textext work ok. Logical Page Numbers (PDF Bookmarks)

I know how to make the page numbers in the frontmatter to use Roman numerals, say, and in the bodymatter use Arabic numerals. I also know how to reset the page counter so that the numbering "starts over" after the frontmatter. However, I would like to have the page numbers appear in the PDF bookmarks appear as i, ii, iii, ... , 1, 2, 3, ... If there are 5 pages in the frontmatter, then all of my page numbers are off by 5 in the PDF bookmarks. How can this be fixed? Troy Henderson

using different xml-tree's?

I would like to process my <dvd> nodes in more than one way but I am stuck with the implementation. The trees could start in a different setup: \startxmlsetups xml:dvdfirst:dvd .. \stopxmlsetups \startxmlsetups xml:dvdfirst:setups \xmlsetsetup{\xmldocument} {error|setup|dvd .. and \startxmlsetups xml:dvdsecond:dvd .. \stopxmlsetups \startxmlsetups xml:dvdsecond:setups .. I thought I could call the variants (data collected in a buffer) with: \xmlprocessbuffer{dvd}{data.xml}{xml:dvdfirst:dvd} en \xmlprocessbuffer{dvd}{data.xml}{xml:dvdsecond:dvd} But this does not work. Neither for example ..{xml:dvdfirst} Guess I am mistreating the 3rd parameter of \xmlprocessbuffer{}{}{initial-xml-setup}. The manual says "process the tree starting with initial-xml-setup.
