problem with initialize_box in mkIV

Hi there, i'm having problems with metapost and positional graphics in mkIV. Dear all, With recent standalones (jan. 7, jan. 29 and march 2) I am experiencing trouble processing .tex-files that gave no problems in november (14-11). For instance, when processing with "ConTeXt ver: 2013.01.02 18:19 MKIV fmt: 2013.1.7 int: english/english", the log file gives the following information: ------------------------------------------------------------------- ! Hello, which XML processing Lua engine is used by ConTeXt? There are more XML processors developed for Lua - LuaXML, LuaExpat etc. Does ConTeXt use one of these or another, or its own - a built-in one? processing xml with lua

Hi all, one of my favorite topics… Here is a minimal example which shows something that I don't understand: when I process the subsection with the lua code, I want to get the value of the current section's "label" attribute in xml.attribute(r, "../../section", "label", "X"). So i was expecting that lua would go up (../../) and fetch the current section's label. But if you run the example, you see that it actually always gets the first section's label (value is always 1). Hi, how is \lesshyphens supposed to work? According to the source it's supposed to increment the current value of lefthyphenmin and righthyphenmin. But apparently I'm mistaken, it has no effect whatsoever. recalculate background on every page with \uniqueMPgraphic?

Dear list, with the (almost minimal) example below, I hoped that the frame would be recalculated at every page. But it is not (they all look the same in my output pdf). How can I force the frame to be redrawn at every page? Btw, If I change the uniqueMPgraphic to useMPgraphic (everywhere) my file does not compile anymore. FiXme and ConTeXt mkiv

Hi all, I was trying to use the FiXme module today, but it seems like it is using some macros that are only available in mkii. Does anyone know of any alternatives? (Or is anyone planning on porting FiXme to mkiv?) Thanks, Janne Junnila

About Chapter head definition and FunnyFrame

But it produces an error which is … ! Argument of \Myheader has an extra }. system > tex > error on line 94 in file SumRule.tex … What is wrong in this code? 2. I used "funnyFrame" defined in the MetaFun book. It works fine except that it is left aligned. I'd like to put such a frame in the middle. But \startalignment[middle] didn't work. A trouble with setupbodyfontenvironment

So I've come back to using ConTeXt after a year away from it (publishers preferring LaTeX, y'know), and in revising some student notes I'm getting errors which seem new. For a collection of overheads, I've set up \setupbodyfontenvironment[default][em={\slanted\color[red]}] However, when I run context on my files, a command such as {\em elephant} produces: l.3 The {\em elephant} is a large gray animal ? h The control sequence marked <to be read again> should not appear between \csname and \endcsname. What's going on here, and how do I fix it? Thanks, Alasdair

vertical position in itemize and math

Hi, I have two problems with vertical position, one in itemize and one in math. The example below show them both. \starttext \startitemize[n] \item \startitemize[a][left={},right={)},stopper=] \item Bla bla $\theta = \arctan\bigl(\frac{\bar{y}^2}{\bar{x}^2}\bigr)$ % comment this line out to see the problem disappear \stopitemize \stopitemize Let \startformula A=I-2\frac{NN^T}{N^TN}\,N=\frac{1}{9}X. \stopformula \stoptext The first one is the vertical position of the a) and the following formula. This is pushed down (because of the formula it seems). What if I want the a) aligned with the 1.? (I wrote about this problem some time ago, and it got solved, but that time no math was included) The second one is the "division line" in \frac{NN^T}{N^TN} that look pushed down to me. I'm not sure how it should be, but my guess is aligned with the minus sign or so. All this with the latest ConTeXt suite. /Mikael

Please can someone explain why the column before the floating figure is empty? I thought that the figure would float through the text to the first location with sufficient space. That appears not te be the case: the input behind the figure does not typeset before it although there is ample space for the text that now follows the picture. Arranging framed text without gaps

Dear all, I am trying to create a table where the entries have determined width and height. They typically are something like \framed[width=5cm,height=4cm,align={center,middle}{Text} and I understand that I will be responsible for making the dimensions so that everything fits nicely. Also, in my (possibly not quite up to date) MkIV, the texts isn't centered. In MkII it is. My questions: How do I -- achieve the desired layout (exact dimensions, frames, no gaps) the right way, -- without gaps between horizontal rows -- with text centered in the frames also in MkIV? startitemize[joinedup] killed?

What has happened to the joinedup parameter of \startitemize? As can be seen in the following minimal example, the \setupwhitespace effectively kills the effect of the joinedup. Making it impossible to typeset preceding text and item list close together. I can barely believe that this side effect of \setupwhitespace is inentional.
