Resizing multi-line fill-in field

I am re-posting a previous question. Is it possible to increase the height of a multi-line fill-in field when the cumulative height of the lines typed into it exceeds the field's initial height? Here's an example where the field's initial height in 10em. \usemodule[fields] \setupinteraction[state=start] \setupfield [TextSetup] [width=\textwidth, height=10em, background=screen, backgroundscreen=.97, frame=off] \definefield [Block] [text] [TextSetup] [] [What's on your mind?] \starttext \field [Block] [type here] \stoptext I have a situation where the amount of text typed into various fields will vary, but it is inappropriate to reserve a large block of space for each field. Bibliography: only surname in small caps

Dear list, I would like to have in a bibliography only surnames in small capitals, like this: MÜLLER, B. and SCHNEIDER A. (Müller and Schneider appear in small caps, but everything else like "and" is still in the default typeface.) At the moment, I'm using the old bibliography system. I am a bit overwhelmed by the new system, because I would have to setup everything from the beginning, as I have setup my layouts with \setuppublicationlayout. Now my questions are: Is it possible to achieve what I want (SC surnames) with the old and the new system? If I would do it with the old system, am I right that I would have to redefine \normalauthor or define my own authorcommand? How could it be done with the new system? I've tried to understand the file "publ-imp-apa.mkvi", but there's only an "author" value, and I don't understand how to access the name components (first name, last name etc.). Hi Joshua, I suspect it can be done in the old system, albeit by some tricks that are maybe unworthy of ConTeXt. I have not tried using small caps because I use a font that does't have them but I think it would be doable. There a in fact two tricks. The first is to put everything in the "booklet" category and enter everything except author names, year of publication and city (or publisher) in the title. The second is to make a .bbl file and edit that, including ordering small caps where you want them, just as in a normal .tex-file. In your project you input the edited .bbl-file, not the .bib-file. This way you can use all the nice mechanisms of ConTeXt for citing, footnotes and bibliography without having to bother with the tweaking of codes. I have done it this way for my wife's PhD thesis and it works perfectly. Best regards, Robert Blackstone

problem with cow-font

chapter title does not show on header.

I copied \setupheadertexts etc. straight from the wiki with one change. For the fourth parameter instead of chapter I substituted \Titlea, which contains the title of the book. That part works, But the word chapter as a parameter doesn't. Letter module

Hello, Is there any updated documentation for the letter/correspondence module? All I can find is version 2010.08.27 and I can see from this list that things have changed, I just don't know where to find out what. Also, can anyone tell me how to remove the label above the date, how to add a pdf containing my letterheading as the page background, and how to add a horizontal line between the backaddress and the toaddress? For the page background I currently have: \setupletter[ backgroundimage={letterhead} ] but it doesn't seem to do anything. I've tried adding the file extension. Thanks, Mo.

It's no big deal to set up something for an index, but it needs thinking about how to deal with worst case scenarios and these will happen for sure and you don't want to end up with a sequence of entries two pages height running of a page, certainly not in a fully automated workflow. It is on the to-be-loked-into-list, but as all things, it has to fit into my agenda (read: to be done in what's left of my free time). I also have to make sure then it does not mess up existing files. For the moment playing with the before/after keys is the way to go. In XSL-FO all these can be set quite easily using keep-with-next/previous rules placed on first and last items. I've investigated several TeX resources but I still cannot find any convenient solution. I've found related thread at http://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/185059/preventing-page-break-after-th e-first-or-before-the-last-list-item That solution with \pagecheck looks promising, but it has to be implemented on ConTeXt/Lua side. It requires adding 'checking' commands to proper places. Only ConTeXt knows the item tree, it can count number of item in every level and then decide where placing the command is appropriate. The \testpage or \testcolumn are not IMHO sufficient here. They cannot prevent breaking after the first primary. The optional value [2] should somehow be cummulated. Moreover, testing the number of lines is weak as index entries can be long or with many page references requiring more lines than one. \testpage[2] % keep first two together (generalized rule 2) primary-01 \testpage[2] % (rule 1) primary-02 secondary-01 secondary-02 \testpage[2] % (rule 3) secondary-03 secondary-04 primary-03 % how to set rule 3 here? Dear All, in my index I can see disturbing page breaks. primary-01 primary-02 secondary-01 ------- ( next page ) ----- secondary-02 primary-03 instead of primary-01 ------- ( next page ) ----- primary-02 secondary-01 secondary-02 primary-03 Is it possible to somehow define conditional keep-with-next rules? I'd like to express: (1) keep always the primary with the first secondary (this seems to be implemented) (2) keep always the first secondary with the next secondary (3) keep always the last secondary with the previous secondary And similarly for tertiary. As the Index is generated, I can't see an easy way to accomplish something like this. I hope I am wrong :-) Thanks, Jan

latest beta, problem with natural tables and alignment character

Hi, I was testing the latest beta (2014.06.15) and noticed I am getting incorrect output using natural tables with alignment characters. I produced a small example that demonstrates the problem, and attached output created with the version I'm testing (bad.pdf) and my prior version (good.pdf, ConTeXt 2013.06.10). You can see in the bad file that ConTeXt doesn't properly align on the "-" and it introduces spurious spaces. Best regards, Brian

Preparing a weird index.

I have a customer that uses a publisher that has truly weird requirements. The weirdness is that the locaters are not page numbers but paragraph numbers. And some paragraph numbers start with the prefix 'BO' and others with the chapter number. so a correct sequence would be BO.15 3.2 A finished sequence would be goddess @@ BO.15 3.2 3.5 The sort order has to be letter by letter, as defined in the Chicago Manual of Style. Can Context sort and summarize these locaters? I can even change the BO sequence to 0 (zero) and then change it back later on. The key is can Context sort by paragraph number rather than page number for an index. I have looked into Xindy for this job but the learning curve is pretty steep and the documentation pretty opaque. makeindex won't handle decimals for locators. Configure AUCTeX to run context not texec

Dear all, I have a working version of context mash-laptop:~$ context --version mtx-context | ConTeXt Process Management 0.60 mtx-context | mtx-context | main context file: /usr/share/texmf/tex/context/base/context.mkiv mtx-context | current version: 2013.11.07 15:28 However, I edit files in emacs/AUCTeX and the compile command "C-c C-c" calls "texexec" instead of "context" and so can't compile in emacs. Does anyone know how to change the command from "texexec" to "context" in emacs/AUCTeX? Thanks. Hi, In case you didn't consider it yet ... in a couple of months we have the context meeting and this is a perfect opportunity to meet those involved in development and support. You can participate in discussions about upcoming developments, express wishes, get sneak previews, get your problems solved (meetings are quite efficient for that). Personally I like those meetings because it gives a face to users and also gives an idea in what direction to move. Also, tex related meetings are kind of special (beware, one can get hooked to them).
