Cell padding in natural tables

Hello, There was that question to which I could not find an answer: http://www.ntg.nl/pipermail/ntg-context/2002/000140.html So, is there a way to set the cell padding in natural tables? And by the way, is there a way to lock the total width of the table without setting the width of individual cells? Regards, David

m-bib sorting, etc.

Another question on m-bib: Is it possible to get the bib list alphabetized? Or is the only way this can work if the bib file itself is so, and I use the bbl sort option? Also, I am getting some weird vertical spacing in the list (like extra blank space between a couple of entries). Is there any suggested workaround for this? Bruce

Hello, the example further down works fine with the latex standard fonts and e.g. eulervm, but not with fourier. Could somebody help me? Hi Willy, Thanks! Using \setupbodyfont solves my first problem. Unfortunately, using \plaatsinhoud[criterium=onderwerp] does not solve my second problem. No table of contents is generated. Cheers! Roelof

lucida bright on mac os x (gwtex)

Dear context users, Does anyone have experience in setting up Gerben Wierda's gwTex for Mac OS X to use ConTeXt and lucida bright fonts? Could you advice me where to buy the fontset for Mac OS X? And can anyone offer me a pointer to good step-by-step recipe to convert and install the fontset? I know I ask a lot in just a few lines, but my guess is that people have figured out how to do this before. Regards, Jacob

\title in the table of contents

Good evening. I'm sorry to post one more rahter simple question, but I'm desperate because I can't solve it myself. In my document I use numbered chapters (\chapter) and non-numbered chapters (\title). I want both to be in the table of content. How can I do it? I tried two solutions, but none worked. First I tried: \definehead[title][chapter] \setuphead[title][number=no, command=\MyTitleCommand] This puts the title to the table of content, but it increases the chapter number, so \title{Foreword} \title{Introduction} \chapter{First chapter} makes that the First chapter has number 3. Then I tried \definehead[title][chapter] \setuphead[title][number=no, incrementnumber=no, command=\MyTitleCommand] which has the same effect as only \setuphead[title][number=no, command=\MyTitleCommand] without the \definehead line -- titles are not placed into the table of contents. So, how can I have not-numbered chapters which don't increment the chapter number placed in the table of contents? Many thanks M.K.

Two questions on ConText

Hi, I'm using Context to typeset a book. As I use the Lucida fonts, I have \usetypescript[lucida][texnansi] \switchtobodyfont[lucida, 10pt] \stelhoofdstekstenin[onderwerp][paginanummer][book title] Unfortunately, if the "onderwerp" contains extended characters, they are not shown in the header text. Can this be done, and if so, how can I do it? In my file ,,boek.tex'', I have line saying ,,\plaatsinhoud'' (I use \onderwerp for my chapters, and \subonderwerp for my subchapters). The command \plaatsinhoud doesn't result in a table of contents being produced (my silent hope). Can I get a table of contents? How? Thanks! Roelof Langman

small articles in columns?

Hello, I want to tyeset some smaller text parts in columns on one page. I would like to place each text into it's own set of columns. Is it possible to have each text spread equally over some columns, so that the next text starts on the leftmost column again? Haven't found any parameter for this in the documentation. TIA, __Janko

The name of the current section?

Good evening. Is there some command simmilar to \headnumber[section] that would tell me the name of the current chapter/section/...? I want to have the headertext on the left like this: [pagenumber] [chapter title] (chap. [chapter number]) and on the right side like this: [section title] (sec. [section number]) [pagenumber] where [x] is value of x, e.g. [pagenumber] is the number of the current page. How can I do it? Many thanks Michal Kvasnicka

Hello, Processing this source: \enableregime [utf] \mainlanguage [french] \starttext Let's quote \quote{something}. \stoptext with ConTeXt ver: 2004.4.9 fmt: 2004.5.20 int: english mes: english results in pdf with strange symbols instead of french quotation marks. It used to work fine with: ConTeXt ver: 2004.1.13 fmt: 2004.5.1 int: english mes: english Has something changed in font processing since then? David

draft stamp

Dear gang, What is the simplest way to add a grey watermark to a draft document that says "DRAFT" on each and every page. I will be using eomega so I will have etex but not pdftex (in case that makes a difference. The <DRAFT> should be enlarged (bigger than \tfd perhaps) and run diagonal across the textblock (say, lower left to upper right corner). (There is actually an example of this in the LaTeX Graphics Companion using some dvips trick but I'd rather not go that route...) More funky: Maybe we can have a series of \tfd <Draft>'s across and down the textblock, say, 3 x 6 matrix. I've been away 4 a long time, finally getting back into circulation. pdf 1.5 pb

Hi Contexers, I've used Acrobat 6 to import and create .pdfs for inclusion as images, not thinking about compatibility mode (set by default on acrobat 6 I suppose). When I try to texexec a .tex doc with such pdf inclusions, i get this output : Error: pdfetex (file ./pieces-graphiques-l.pdf): pdf inclusion: found pdf version <1.5>, but at most version <1.4> allowed ==> Fatal error occurred, the output PDF file is not finished! I don't speak Dutch, so I am partly guessing at what you are asking for. Look at the LaTeX package "setspace," which may be found at ftp://ftp.dante.de/tex-archive/macros/latex/contrib/setspace. The package is described at pages 106-08 of The LaTeX Companion (2nd ed. 2004). The package adjusts interline spacing either globally with a spacing command in the preamble (e.g., \usepackage{setspace} \doublespacing) or locally using a spacing environment (e.g., with the command \usepackage{setspace} in the preamble, \begin{spacing}{2.0}text\end{spacing}). Another Metafun issue

Hi, when trying to set fractions or non-square roots in Metapost figures using the Metafun macro textext (textext("\frac{a}{b}") or textext("\root a \of b")), I get the error message !Undefined control sequence $\setbox \rootbox \hbox {$\mathsurround \z @ \scriptscriptstyle {a }$}\m... in case of the root and !Missing $ inserted. <inserted text> $ <to be read again> \mathchoice l.11 $\relax ${{\mathchoice {\displaystyle a}{\textstyle a}{\scriptstyle a}{... in case of the fraction. bug in alignbox

Hallo Hans, I have played with positioning text in layers. I noticed that parameter "location=t" \setlayer[MyLayer][...,location=t,...]{...} behaves the same way as "location=c". It seems to me it is the bug in optimized definition of \alignedbox. If I use commented version of \alignedbox from source file core-box.tex it is OK. Can you look at it, please? French, ? : ; !, and spacing, \setuppapersize problem

Hello, (Passing on a question.) Is there a simple methode to automatically add a thinspace before "?", "!", ":" and ";" as it is done commonly in French? This would make typing easier and would allow to change a thinspace into a normal space etc. In addition, I have the following problem. I downloaded the latest (?) ConTeXt - 2004.4.9 -, installed it in my $HOMETEXMF tree, added two symlinks to make it work with an old TDS tree texmf.cnf configuration, run texhash and fmtutil. TeX works rather nicely, except \setuppagersize. Using \setuppapersize[a5][a4] or a5 a5 I get always one A4 page on a A4 sheet of paper. Using [a5][a4,landscape] I get a A4 paper on a sheet of paper which is as wide and high as the height of an A4 paper. Can anyone reproduce this? Or is this due to my configuration (e.g. a file present in the system TEXMF tree which is not in $HOMETEXMF and gets included)? Regards, Tobias

Strange MP problem

Hello, I have a really strange problem. After changing a label in ghostscript (mpost terminal), I fail to mpost the output since the TeX file looks like \switchtobodyfont[7.5pt] % [...] \shipout\hbox{\smash{\hbox{\hbox{% line 402 gnuplot0001.mp xtls ($1+2885.878040):($3/1.6637149187); $\Gamma_{\rm L}=1.5$, $\Gamma_{\rm G}=0 .2$}\vrule width1sp}}} \end{document} Of cause it fails at the "\end{document}", but why is it there at all? In the metapost file are only the normal put_text(btex ... etx) statements (plus my verbertim "\switchtobodyfont[7.5pt]"). Any ideas? Tobias PS: Thanks Patrick for a5 vs. A5 help.
