Known nath bugs?

Hello all, is there a list of know nath bugs somewhere on the web? I tried to find one using Google, but unfortunately without success. The reason I'm asking this is that I'm encountering some problems with the module and would like to know if they are common or if it's related to my configuration. First of all, using the units module together with nath doesn't seem to work - for instance, $1\Micro\Coulomb$ works as expected without nath, but produces the error message "Please don't say \def cs{...}, say \def\cs{...}" when used together with nath. I also thought that delimiters like ( or [ should automatically adjust to the formula they contain, but (\sum_{something} \frac{something}{something}) only produces standard parentheses. Commands like \lbrace or \lbrack work as expected, though. If these problems are unknown, I can post a small example file and my logfile. Best regards, Sebastian

Hi, yesterday I posted my problems configuring SciTE under Linux. Thanks to the tip of Hraban I came to the following solution: In the SciTEUser.porperties file setup the paths to the perl and ruby scripts. Do not forget the slash at the end of the line. path.context.rubyscripts=/usr/local/tex/texmf-local/scripts/context/ruby/ path.context.perlscripts=/usr/local/tex/texmf-local/scripts/context/perl/ In the context.properties file change the menu issues as follows: name.context.concheck=ruby $(path.context.rubyscripts)concheck.rb name.context.texexec=perl $(path.context.perlscripts)texexec.pl --autopdf name.context.texshow=perl $(path.context.perlscripts)texshow.pl name.context.texutil=perl $(path.context.perlscripts)texutil.pl name.context.examplap=ruby $(path.context.rubyscripts)texmfstart.rb --file=examplap.pdf --program=context --browser name.context.showcase=ruby $(path.context.rubyscripts)texmfstart.rb --file=showcase.pdf --program=contextname.context.concheck=ruby $(path.context.rubyscripts)concheck.rb So may be that there is still a better solution to this. Hi, I have a question about \seeregister: It seems that the definition in cont-enp.pdf would want you to write \seeindex{DFA}{finite automaton+deterministic} if you have had \index{finite automaton+deterministic} already, but instead you're fourced to write it as \seeindex{DFA}{deterministic finite automaton} for it to come out sort of right. Dear Contexters As a bit of a newby on the Linux platform I can't get running everything as wanted. One of the problems I have is, that I am unable to compile a TeX source from within SciTE. I got the context.properties and the SciTEUsers.properties in my home directory. The other porperties files were copied into the SciTE directory. In SciteUsers.properties I have set the path to the location where the scripts are: path.context.rubyscripts=/usr/local/tex/texmf-local/scripts/context/ruby path.context.perlscripts=/usr/local/tex/texmf-local/scripts/context/perl nevertheless the scripts are not found. I get the following error in SciTE: texexec --autopdf --pdf test.tex sh: line 1: texexec: command not found >Exit code: 127 On the other hand, running texexec test from the console does result in the expected test.pdf file. Is there anyone who has a clue how to solve this? Kind regards Willi

typescript question

There is something I don't understand about the typescript business (using ConText version june 30, 2004): By calling \setupbodyfont[lbr] the following script (referred to als typescript number-1) in type-buy.tex (lines 161-170) is executed: \starttypescript [lbr] \usetypescript [serif,sans,mono,math,calligraphy,handwriting] [lucida] [name,special,\defaultencoding] \usetypescript [serif,sans,mono,math,calligraphy,handwriting] [default] [size] \usemathcollection[lbr] \usetypescript [all] [lucida] [\defaultencoding] \stoptypescript Also I have defined somewhere else a typescript (number-2): \starttypescript [Times] ... \stoptypescript WITHOUT the line "...[all]..." in typescript number-1 all goes well, lucida fonts result in the product. However, WITH the line "...[all]..." in typescript number-1 there is found the following match, as can be seen in the log (by setting \tracetypescriptstrue): >>> fonts : enter [Times] [] [] >>> fonts : check [all] [lucida] [texnansi] >>> fonts : matched Now that seems strange to me. I might be misunderstanding the typescript search mechanism, but why does it turn out that the search key [lucida] is ignored? Here it seems that after the [all] the following search keys are ignored, reducing the check to [all][][]; but why then bother giving these 2nd and 3rd key at all? But even if this behaviour is implied by giving the first search key as [all], it leads to wrong results. Because now the typescript number-2 is executed too, working havoc to the font setup. Does someone knows where there is information on the table environment in ConTeXt? I have read the intro on ConTeXt and the pamphlets from the Pragma-site on tabulate and btable, but there seem to be a lot more options than can be found in these; I encountered something like \AR etc. whose effects I could not figure out with some tests. Also there is some mention of Wichura's manual. Is this somewhere to be found on the internet? Thanks in advance. Hans van der Meer

Hi Hans, I get the impression that in math-lbr.tex the codes for blacktriangleleft and -right are interchanged. Having F0 where it should be F1 and vice versa. Imho it should be left = F0 and right = F1. Hans van der Meer

Two texexec.ini files?

I have noticed that the ConTeXt distribution contains both $TEXMF/context/config/texexec.rme and $TEXMF/scripts/context/perl/texexec.rme Are they both supposed to be used? What happens if they're not the same? Can \note repeat its footnote?

Hi all! The \note[xxx] command is used to reference a previously defined footnote. Is it possible that the previously defined footnote is repeated if a page break had occured between the \footnote[xxx]{bla bla bla} and the corresponding \note[xxx] command? Thanks for your attention, --Stefan

Hi Hans and others, there is a problem with arranging pages with transparency color. See code: ------------------ \setuppapersize[A5,landscape][A4] \setuparranging[2TOPSIDE] \setupcolors[state=start] \definecolor[tcBlack][s=0, t=.5, a=normal] \starttext \switchtobodyfont[20pt] \dorecurse{1}{Page \color[tcBlack]{\recurselevel}\page}% \dorecurse{4}{Page \recurselevel\page}% \stoptext -------------------- Acroread (win 6.0.1) is complaining on the resulting PDF obtaining by texexec --arrange The message from AR is: There was an error reading a page. There was a problem processing a document(14). From a previous version of AR I obtained more informative message: Could not find extended graphic state name Tr1 Necessary conditions: 1) transparent color on at least one page 2) arranging pages on sheets 3) number of pages exceeds one sheet Observation: If do not use switch --arrange and compile the file two times the error does not occure. (But the result is not correct due to missing table of content etc.) It seems to me the problem is with managing transparen resources from sheet to sheet. Vit Zyka

textbackground

Hans, I definitely see problems with the \starttextbackground[]-\stoptextbackground environment (discussed in the "displays"-brochure). When the textbackground falls at a page crossing -- i.e. starts at the top of a page -- the coloring extends backwards on the page just left. It can be remedied by putting a \null just in front of \starttextbackground. The extra vertical space this introduces just manages to constrain the background to its own page. However, this is not a general solution, on other places the extra vertical space is certainly not wanted. I cannot find the exact nature of the problem. I suspect it has to do with the \output-routines, but these are not my speciality, to say the least. So, not much help there, Also, the \starttextbackground does not respect footnotes, these are colored. In contrast, the old \startbackground-\stopbackground does respect footnotes. The coloring stops at the footnote and restarts at the next page. I should like that for \starttextbackground as well. Hans van der Meer

MathTimes usage

I have the YandY MathTimes fonts and would like to use them in ConTeXt but do not know how to get them into action. In the source there are some references to MathTimes but nothing I try does something simple like for the lucida fonts: \setupbodyfont[lbr] Maybe I missed the magic invocation for \setupbodyfont[MathTimes-magic]? Hi gang, I'm having trouble compiling the eomega format with the latest ConTeXt (6-21): \texmf-var\web2c>eomega --ini *plain \dump works, but then \texmf-var\web2c>texexec --make --alone en -tex=eomega eomega: unrecognized option `-translate-file=natural.tcx' Try `eomega --help' for more information. fails. I have made texexec --make metafun to generate metafun format. And it said it generated it. But... I always get these messages kpathsea: Running mktexfmt metafun.mem fmtutil: no info for format `metafun'. when doing texexec --pdf to my tex-beauties... it seems that he goes for metapost after that... is there anything wrong here? thanks ! jose

re: might be an error in ConTeXt file prop-mis.tex I had some difficulty with typesetting backgrounds. It seems there is an error in file prop-mis.tex (version 2004-06-21): token "\popsplitnegativeproperty" is never defined but "\popsplitoverprintproperty" is twice. I think the second one should be \popsplitnegativeproperty, because then the sequence \startbackground some text \stopbackground does typeset after regenerating the formats. Hope this helps. Installation problem

Hello, all-- I have just installed the latest (stable release of) ConTeXt on a "new" machine [details below], but texexec is not working properly. I keep getting the following error: sh: cont-en: command not found I have Googled for information on this problem, but the solution I found doesn't make sense to me. In response to a previous inquiry on this list, someone wrote: > but the absence of cont-en that is the > problem. Or if cont-en exists, it is not in your path or not > executable. But what exactly is this 'cont-en'? I have two machines with working ConTeXt systems, and neither of them has a command with exactly that name. So I imagine the reference is to a file named 'cont-en.<extension>'. But there is more than one such file, and none of them seems to be a type of file that would normally be made executable (nor are they executable on the machines where I have ConTeXt working). Any thoughts as to what's wrong? Oh, yes, my system is: Debian GNU/Linux 3.0 teTeX 1.0.2 * Note that teTeX comes with an old and not-properly-configured version of ConTeXt. I unzipped the new package over that ... could something left over from the old ConTeXt be causing the problem?
