Text overwrites float instead of wrapping around it

texutil "malformed UTF-8 character" error

I'm running the latest beta on top of a TeXlive 2003 install on linux. The job I'm currently running needs various tables of contents (and a set of bookmarks) but texutil (v. 8.2) seems to be choking on the .tui file at the very end of the run with this message: TeXUtil 8.2 - ConTeXt / PRAGMA ADE 1992-2004 action : processing commands, lists and registers option : sorting IJ under Y option : converting high ASCII values input file : nubs-rg-bk.tui output file : nubs-rg-bk.tuo Malformed UTF-8 character (unexpected end of string) at /usr/TeX/texmf/scripts/context/perl/texutil.pl line 1520, <TUI> line 3. Malformed UTF-8 character (unexpected end of string) at /usr/TeX/texmf/scripts/context/perl/texutil.pl line 979, <TUI> line 3. Malformed UTF-8 character (unexpected end of string) at /usr/TeX/texmf/scripts/context/perl/texutil.pl line 990, <TUI> line 3. passed commands : 1136 remapped keys : 0 register entries : 0 -> 0 entries 0 references synonym entries : 0 -> 0 entries embedded files : 1 As you can see, as a result of the UTF-8 errors the .tui file isn't being successfully read, so I'm getting no register entries and hence no tables of contents ( or bookmarks). I'm in the process of composing a minimal example file, but it's tough going and I wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction from the information in the error message. None of the commands that I was told worked. I donT think its my installation. To my surprise, the following does not work at live.contextgarden.net. If you see the log file, it says that the TFM file not found. Typing in Polytonic Greek

Hi, I have a font for Polytonic Greek ("athenian") installed in my ConTeXt-set and save my tex-files with utf-8 encoding (in TeXShop). Now I want to typeset a text (latin characters) with quotes in Polytonic Greek. Work is much easier for me if I will type these qoutes directly in Polytonic Greek (therefore I have a special keyboard layout from "GreekKeys"). What should I write in my tex document so that ConTeXt understands the UTF-8 glyphs that I am typing with Polytonic Greek? Steffen Wolfrum

Context in Portuguese

Hi ! I've been a Latex user for some time and I'm now trying to use Context to typeset some documents in portuguese using portuguese accentuated characters but I can't seem to get it working. Every time I use an accentuated character it simply doesn't shows up in the document. I'v read the docs but haven't found a solution to the problem. Can someone provide me a simple example on how to do it, or the problem I'm facing has to do with some kind of configuration that has to be done in Context ? I'v been trying to use Context using the tex iso available at pragma's website. Thank you, Miguel Queirós

Using ConTeXt through MikTeX

Hello, friends, I posted this message some days back to the MikTeX mailing list, but would like to repeat it here. I use MikTeX with the text editor TechnicCenter. I generally work with PDFLaTeX. I have been reading about ConTeXt, which among other things enables the use of Metapost from within the package. (I wish to use Metapost as I need to draw lots of diagrams for Euclidean geometry.) It seems that one can configure MikTeX for ConTeXt. Could any user of ConTeXt suggest how to do the configuring? I am not able to act on the tips given. I have located in "MikTeX Options" the option "cont-uk" (in the Formats tab) and have selected it; but am not sure of the next step. I would be grateful for some advice on this matter. Thanks. Footnotes in margin?

Hi, does ConTeXt provide a way to place footnote (not margin notes!) per page - but not below the body text? A suitable place could be the margin. But there is no "\setupfootnotes[location=inmargin]" and somthing like "\inmargin{\footnote{}The footnote's text.}" doesn't flow. Does anybody know a working solution? Thank you, Steffen Wolfrum

I'd like to use the paladino font from urw as my body font (Its the one used in the MetaFUN manual). I tried setting: \setupbodyfont[pos,12pt] but it does not work. What is the name that I should use?

Hi, The past week has seen two major updates of the context distribution on the pragma-ade web site. As I have done in the past, I have created a fairly detailed list of the changes between these and the previous (2004.06.30) version. Short summary: Context 2004.8.15 --------------------- uploaded on August 18, 2004. * texexec is now version 4.4, which adds "-engine" support for the upcoming texlive changes, and adds direct support for dvipdfm and dvipdfmx * the 'visual' module is now included in the distro * multitone color support * the LaTex .sty files now are true packages, including a version date (2004/07/30) * various DIN papersizes adjusted and a few new ones added * many many more minor changes Context 2004.7.12 -------------------- uploaded on August 16, 2004. * The low-level marking and page numbering macro names are converted to english. * The are a number of preliminary changes for XSL-FO support * \framed now supports the "orientation" keyword. Page break after a section :-(

I have some text that looks like: \section{Flight Controls Model} \startitemize[1] \item The Flight Controls model.... ... ... \stopitemize ConTeXt has decided to put a page break right after the \section, so my itemized list begins on the next page. I thought \sections were supposed to be setup with infinite penalty between the section title and the first line of the section text itself. I don't want to put a directive in there myself to avoid a page break

a footnote bug?

Hi, when setting the \setupfootnotedefinition with location=margin, or location=inleft there is always a little distance between footnote number and footnote text. Neither width nor distance can affect it. Does this distance cannot be adjusted? Thank you, Steffen Wolfrum
