When used in inside \emph, \quote puts the words cited into roman face. Thus, \starttext \emph{The \quote{Problemata} in Medieval Times} \emph{The \quote{\emph{Problemata}} in Medieval Times} \stoptext This seems odd. Should \quote not leave the style of the text as it is? That is, should the output of line 1 not look like that of line 2? Alan

Hi, Is it possible to have TeX markup executed in the text fields for \setupinteraction? I would like to do something like: \definemarking[xyz] \marking[xyz]{Hello} \setupinteraction[state=start] \setupinteraction[title={\getmarking[xyz][current]}] \setupinteraction[author={\getmarking[xyz][current]}] \starttext xyz=\getmarking[xyz][current] \stoptext But my generated PDF has literally "\getmarking[xyz][current]}" for the title and author. Defining \pagereference[xyz] en calling this some pages later with \atpage[xyz] I get as reference "at a previous page" (perhaps not exactly, the typesetting is done in dutch). This an unwanted result, that previous page is 7 pages before. How can I restrict this to either "on this page" or to the exact number of the page in question? Hans van der Meer

Automatic negative tracking to prevent slight overfull hbox's

Dear list, when I stumble upon a slightly overhanging line (where it's not allowed to hyphenate the hanging word and putting it on next line leaves huge whitespaces), decreasing letterspacing in that line seems like a good idea, and I manually insert \kerncharacters commands to do the trick. Instalation ConTeXt to MAC - newbie problem

Hello ConTeXist. I am trying to install a standalone ConTeXt on MacBook. I am doing everything exactly as instructed on contextgarden.net, but the installation will fail. It seems that the problem is with rsync, with copying the installation script first-setup.sh into my Mac. Since I am a longtime Windows user and I'm a newbie on OS X, I'd like to find out what the problem may be. I dont know nothing about OS X, but I suppose that might be a problem with the firewall settings or access rights to the directories which I use to install ConTeXt etc. Can someone please advise how to perform the installation? There is an option to download the installation package and install ConTeXt differently? Thanks for replies. Jaroslav Hajtmar

Error in latest beta: luat-exe.lua not found

Hi all, I just downloaded the new beta and I can not launch context anymore. It complains it can't find a 'luat-exe.lua' file: > system > lua > loading of file '/opt/context/tex/texmf-context/tex/context/base/luat-exe.lua' failed: > cannot open /opt/context/tex/texmf-context/tex/context/base/luat-exe.lua: No such file or directory > resolvers > lua > loading file '/opt/context/tex/texmf-context/tex/context/base/luat-exe.lua' failed > error loading file: luat-exe.lua (aborting) As I can see, the 'base' directory has been split up into 'mkii' and 'mkiv' subdirs, so maybe a link has not been updated. With for example \setupexternalfigures ConTeXt will search figure files in the directories specified on this command. Is there a corresponding \setup-macro for searching files one wants to input? So that after \setup....[direcory={..,..,..}] an "\input xyz" command (or anything alike) will find xyz.tex. Hans van der Meer

How to set the calligraphic font in the simplefonts module? Some fonts as for example Lucida have a calligraphic style called up with \cg. If it is not present a default is taken. Hello, Jean-Michel pointed out to me the following curiosity: \starttext \input tufte \startalignment[middle] \input ward \stopalignment \input tufte \stoptext The startalignment applies to the preceding text, too. Strange... I never noticed this before as I have the habit of coding \startalignment\stopalignment blocks set-off with leading and trailing blank lines for better readability. But such practice could lead to undesired results. Consider the following example: \setupwhitespace [big] \starttext \input tufte \startalignment[middle] \input ward \stopalignment \input dawkins \stoptext So \stopalignment implicitly imposes a \par. If I were to omit the blank line before \startalignment so that no big whitespace be included before the centered block, the tufte text will get middle aligned. Also, perhaps I might not wish for the dawkins text to be separated by a big whitespace, logically as in: \startparagraph \input tufte \startalignment [middle] \input ward \stopalignment \input dawkins \stopparagraph Indeed, curious behavior. A document that runs fine under ConTeXt ver: 2015.10.09 21:28 MKIV beta fmt: 2015.10.11 int: english/english suddenly doesn't under ConTeXt ver: 2015.12.22 10:50 MKIV beta fmt: 2015.12.27 int: english/english mtx-context | fatal error: no return code, message: luatex: execution interrupted Loaded this beta today. The previous beta runs ok, the new beta gives the error. The pdf produced in the latter seems at fault. Anyone knows how this error can occur?

font scaling does not work in footnotes

Hello list, I have a problem with font scaling (see "sc=SansCaps sa 1.5" below). I'm using MyriadPro as sans font, but it lacks small caps. So I decided to provide them using AlegreyaSansSC, because it's similar to MyriadPro and it's made of small caps only. When I use \ss and \sc I get AlegreyaSC instead of MyriadPro. I want to scale them differently to balance their weights. That's why I wrote "sc=SansCaps sa 0.95". In body text the two fonts are balanced, but in the footnotes the scaling is ignored. What am I missing? disabling ligatures in selected words

Hi, in German typography, ligatures are disabled at boundaries between what used to be independent words (Wortfugen). Thusly, in a correct German text, you'd find Anflug (with fl-ligature) but Auf|lage (without ligature). I know that I can prevent a ligature with something like Auf\/lage or even Auf|*|lage. However, I typeset from xml and would much rather have a general solution so I can leave my generated xml files alone. Something like a list where I could list "ligature exceptions" the way we have a file with hyphenation exceptions. Is anything like this possible? Thanks Thomas

file not found

The code below did work ok some version of ConTeXt ago, now an error and I cannot think of the cause. There is an unknown file ./t. Is it origin something with the jobname mysteriously being t? Or is it perhaps that modules now have names preceded by t- ? I am completely baffled. Help would be very much appreciated because I have not much time left to finish the text. Paragraph breaking bug with BiDi text

Hello, When a line ends with a sequence whose direction differs from that of the paragraph, we risk pushing some text into the margin (when not necessary). Here is an example with corresponding output: \usemodule[simplefonts] \setmainfont[ALM Fixed][features=arabic,range=arabic] \setupalign[r2l] \setupwhitespace[big] \showframe \starttext % 10 copies of Persian word "hello" stay on one line. \dorecurse{10}{سلام } % 20 copies makes a 2-line paragraph. \dorecurse{20}{سلام } % one copy of the word goes into the margin although the Latin letters perfectly fit the line. \dorecurse{10}{سلام } {\textdir TLT\dorecurse{20}{a}} \dorecurse{10}{سلام } % although the Latin string extends into the margin, TeX still puts one copy of "hello" there as well. \dorecurse{10}{سلام } {\textdir TLT\dorecurse{30}{a}} \dorecurse{10}{سلام } % something similar happens here with the opposite par/text dir \pardir TLT \dorecurse{10}{bidi } {\textdir TRT\dorecurse{20}{آ}} \dorecurse{10}{bidi } \stoptext The problem seems to be that after typesetting the LTR text within the RTL paragraph, TeX thinks the current text ends at the left end of the LTR portion; hence, it tries to add something to the line; it's only after that that it discovers we ran into the margin! —MHB

Formula-numbering and \setuphead[...][number=no]

Hello, I spotted a strange behavior when I use \setupformulas[way=bychapter,prefixsegments=chapter] to get formula numbers with the chapternumber as prefix and using \setuphead[…][number=no] to turn off the title number. Minimal example: \setupformulas[way=bychapter,prefixsegments=chapter] \setuphead[section][number=no] \starttext \chapter{foo} \placeformula \startformula E=mc^2 \stopformula \section{bar} \placeformula \startformula a^2+b^2=c^2 \stopformula \stoptext The second formula has only the formula number 2. spacing in notes

MetaPost and externalfigure() REQUEST FOR COMMENTS

Hello, INTRODUCTION MetaPost, in fact Metafun, has extensions to include external figures as well as typeset text. For example: \startMPcode draw externalfigure("cow") ; \stopMPcode would be the equivalent to the ConTeXt command. \externalfigure [cow] However, for historical reasons (coming from its implementation in mkii), the MetaPost externalfigure() function behaves somewhat differently from the ConTeXt \externalfigure []. Another very important Metafun extension allows the inclusion of ConTeXt typeset text. For example: \startMPcode draw textext("\input knuth") ; \stopMPcode that can be substituted for the traditional MP \startMPcode label("Some text to be typeset", origin) ; \stopMPcode or its alternate form: \startMPcode label(btex $5\times10^4$ etex, origin) ; \stopMPcode In MetaFun, these all go through the textext mechanism. Getting back to external figures, one could also use \startMPcode draw textext("\externalfigure [cow]") ; \stopMPcode (There is also a rawtextext() variant, which is similar.) In MetaPost, all of these substitute a box having the appropriate dimension that gets filled by ConTeXt as the graphic gets shipped-out; there is no real modification of MetaPost or MPlib itself. After this long-winded introduction, now comes our question: PROBLEM Consider the following MWE: \setupexternalfigures [location=default] \starttext \startMPcode draw externalfigure("cow") xsized 2cm ; draw textext("\externalfigure [cow] [frame=on]") xsized 2cm ; fill fullcircle scaled 2mm withcolor red ; % origin \stopMPcode \stoptext One notices differences, notably that the Metafun externalfigure() function distorts the image as it maps it to a unitsquare. Notice also that I used the xsized transformation rather than scaled since the textext("\externalfigure[cow]") variant returns the "natural" dimension of the figure, not a unit-scaled box. The origin of the two images also differs (lower-left corner vs. center); both behave logically, as draw textext.urt("\externalfigure[cow]") xsized 2cm ; will be placed as expected. There are other issues, in particular all textexts are cleared at the exit of each MP code block, as they each occupy a luatex box. QUESTION We would like to change the behavior of the MetaPost externalfigure function, as lua makes their handling easier than in the original mkii implementation. GSUB LookupType 6 in fea file not working

Hello. I am trying to add some custom ligatures to a font using a feature file. Everything works just fine, until I try what is called a chained contextual substitution, i.e. a GSUB lookup of type 6. I am studying the specs from http://www.adobe.com/devnet/opentype/afdko/topic_feature_file_syntax.html#5… A simple example.fea that does not work for me is: languagesystem dflt dflt; lookup FOOBAR { sub B by Q ; } FOOBAR; feature foba { sub [A] B' lookup FOOBAR; } foba ; I'd expect it to replace B with Q only when preceeded by A. The same rule expressed with a lookup of type 8 works just fine: languagesystem dflt dflt; feature foba { sub [A] B' by Q; } foba ; Ultimately I would need to use multiple inline lookups, something like sub [A]' B' lookup FOO C' lookup BAR; Are inline lookups unsupported by the engine? That would seem strange to me. I'm probably missing some point, but I'm unable to find more documentation. Am I using the wrong syntax? Thanks to anyone who can shed some light.

Hi, This has been previously discussed on the list but I didn't find a resolution to the issue. It might as well be my fault since I didn't go through the entire archive and I am needless to say new to CONTEXT. In a bidi text (Persian/English in my case), I would like the footnote rule to be placed on the right-hand side if and only if the first line of the footnote text is RTL. Is there a way this information can be obtained within a user-defined rulecommand. Ideally I'd like a rule=autodir attribute for notes in addition to the current left & right. Speaking of which, the left & right rules do not seem to work, or I misunderstand their point. When used (either left or right), the footnote rule disappears. \starttext \definenote[afootnote][paragraph=no,rule=right] \startalignment[r2l] righttoleft text\afootnote{\input ward } \input tufte \stopalignment \startalignment[l2r] lefttoright text\afootnote{\input ward} \input tufte \stopalignment \stoptext I see these defined in strc-not.mkvi <http://repo.or.cz/w/context.git/blob/HEAD:/tex/context/base/strc-not.mkvi> and still don't work with "% macros=mkvi" in the first line of the input file and when the file has extension mkvi. Is this some issue of mkiv vs mkvi? For what it's worth, I don't notice a reference to MKVI in the compilation output. If I can figure out whether the first line of the footnote text is RTL or LTR, an if-statement can do the trick I want. Somewhat related to this, I was wondering whether it's possible to define two note commands, say \footnote and \afootnote, that use the same counter but are otherwise completely different. I use TeXLive 2015 on Mac OS X, CONTEXT 2015.05.18 12:26, and LuaTeX, Version beta-0.80.0 (TeX Live 2015) (rev 5238). Thanks a lot! —MHB

We had something similar a while ago, ConTeXt became more strict in the names it expected for modules, but that was resolved. An older beta (2015.11.19 19:13) works; I may have betas between these two on the computer in my office and can test those, if that helps. The definition of \syst_helpers_double_empty_one_spaced hasn't changed, AFAICS, and I couldn't see what caused the error in the changes of file-mod.mkvi. All best Thomas

ConTeXt update issue

Dear list,I have experienced a problem updating the ConTeXt version I use on a current Linux operating system flavour beginning ca. two months ago.By that time, as was successfully applied several times before within the past year of me using ConTeXt, I initiated the update process on the bash console via one command recommended on the corresponding ConTeXt page: "sh ./first-setup.sh --context=current".Then, and on two other ocassions very recently, ConTeXt got stuck (after data had indeed been received and some actions concerning the usual update had been executed, too) giving back the following lines in the bash console that puzzled me a lot:"...This is LuaTeX, Version beta-0.87.0 (TeX Live 2016/dev) (INITEX) system commands enabled.(/home/ichhalt/context/tex/texmf-context/tex/context/base/cont-nl.mkiv (/home/ichhalt/context/tex/texmf-context/tex/context/base/context.mkiv (/home/ichhalt/context/tex/texmf-context/tex/context/base/syst-ini.mkiv! Undefined control sequence.l.1020 pdfoutput zerocount" I admit that this code example is quite short, but it is definitely the last that the whole ConTeXt update process returns-otherwise it stood still.What-except for uninstalling and re-installing ConTeXt-could help now? Problems with TikZ and absolute positioning

The following code: \usemodule[tikz] \starttext \starttikzpicture[remember picture,overlay] \node [xshift=1cm,yshift=1cm] at (current page.south west) [text width=7cm,fill=red!20,rounded corners,above right] { This is an absolutely positioned text in the lower left corner. No shipout-hackery is used. }; \stoptikzpicture \stoptext gives a blank page with a red box in the lower left corner. At least this is how it works in current TeXLive. When compiling, a temporary .pgf file is created with the following contents: \pgfsyspdfmark {pgfid1}{4661756}{46204089} When compiling with the current beta this doesn't work. If the .pgf file is already present, one gets: tex error > tex error on line 1 in file mwe.pgf: ! Undefined control sequence l.1 \pgfsyspdfmark {pgfid1}{4661756}{46204089} 1 >> \pgfsyspdfmark {pgfid1}{4661756}{46204089} When one removes the .pgf file, the compilation succeeds (with empty .pgf file), but in the PDF there is no red box, and the text is not in the lower left corner (although text is wrapped as if it were in a box). When compiling one gets the warning: Package pgf: Warning! Your graphic driver pgfsys-dvips.def does not support marking the current position. This warning is given only once. [Bug report] TikZ + makeup + grid = blank page

Consider the following MWE: \usemodule[tikz] \setuplayout[grid=yes] \starttext \startstandardmakeup Not nothing. \stopstandardmakeup \stoptext The output consists of two pages, the first being an unexpected and undesired blank. Removal of either tikz, grid or makeup is sufficient to make the blank disappear. I am failing to see how these three interact. Dear all, I had asked a similar question some time ago and had received a reply from Hans (http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.tex.context/81049) but the method there doesn't work in this case. Working example difficult, hence code snippets, I'm afraid. I process file A.xml. I pull in stuff from file B.xml and store the result as a lua table: for e in xml.collected(xml.load('B.xml'), 'a') do for d in xml.collected(lxml.id(e), 'b') do local sortword = xml.attribute(b, "/", "xml:id", "0") local entryword = xml.text(b, "entry") local translation = xml.first(b, "translation") mytable[sortword] = { } mytable[sortword]["ew"] = entryword mytable[sortword]["tr"] = translation end end so the table contains the xml. The "translation" part contains further nested xml elements. Later, when processing A.xml, I want to retrieve this stored xml and have it processed: local checkword = xml.text(t, "c") local translation = mytable[checkword]["tr"] but whatever I try: lxml.flush(lxml.id(translation)) or xml.cprint(voktable[myword]["tr"]) or xml.cprint(translation) I always get the serialized xml typeset, but not processed. Dear list, for those interested, Hans has implemented in latest beta from 2015.12.22 10:50 values for duplex printing in the option key from \setupinteractionscreen. With this commit, it is possible to disable duplex printing in printers which have it set by default, or enable portrait or landscape duplex printing (no matter which the defaults are). More information at http://wiki.contextgarden.net/PDF_Print_Options. I must admit it is formatted like crap. But I had to write it in Markdown and convert it to mediawiki using pandoc. inter-word space in bibliographies

The appended code is supposed to allow reduction of the inter-word spacing in my bibliographies but it does not. Adjusting the \spaceskip in the setups for [tightspace] does not seem to make any difference. Any suggestions will be most welcome. Hi, A few words on luatex 0.87 and the beta. As we're progressing to the first stable luatex release (stable in the sense that functionality will become stable, after 1.0 we will continue anyway) a couple of changes take place. And as context is the primary testbed it gets adapted too. (1) Luatex functionality gets finalized which means that some gets removed, some adapted and some extended. The last months not much changed in context in terms of functionality but adapting to luatex canhave temporary side effects as you might have noticed. (2) Luatex functionality that was already present but not yet used gets applied and again this should normally not have side effects. It might result in new (or extended) features. (3) Context code gets optimized but I must admit that there is not much room left for that. Some new luatex functionality makes it possible to code a bit less redundant (handy for tracing). That can result in left over bit and pieces, typos etc. Lucky us we have Wolfgang to check that. (4) Performance should be a little better but also depends on the source and quality of styles. If you encounter bottlenecks and can prove that it's due to poor context core performance I can have a look at it. (5) The new font loader is now used and still can have some issues but in general it behaves okay. (6) There are still some mechanisms that need to be mkiv'd. For instance I'm looking at columnsets. Some of the oldest code (early luatex) probably needs to be checked. Plot using pgfplots: order of appearance of two simple plots

Hello, I'm just starting with pgfplots library. I have two plots, one being filled: ---- \usemodule[pgfplots] \starttext \starttikzpicture \startaxis[legend entries={Sin,Cos}] \addplot+[mark=none] {sin(deg(x))}; \addplot+[mark=none,fill]{cos(deg(x))}; \stopaxis \stoptikzpicture \stoptext ---- The problem is that the latter plot hides the former as they appear in the order they are defined. A solution would be to change the order - to swap plot "Sin" and "Cos". But also I need to keep the order in which plots appear in the legend - it's important to keep "Sin" followed by "Cos"; I'm looking for a way to set the order of plots, something like \addplot+[mark=none,order=2] {sin(deg(x))}; \addplot+[mark=none,order=1] {sin(deg(x))}; or \addplot+[mark=none,z=2] {sin(deg(x))}; \addplot+[mark=none,z=1] {sin(deg(x))}; Although I'm having pgfplots.pdf ("Package PGFPLOTS manual", 20. 10. 2013) open, I cannot find a solution. [fontloader/old] mixed substitution / ligatures feature

Hi Hans, in the old loader, defining a feature containing mixed ligature / substitution causes a crash. Hello, I'm getting many error messages: " Synchronize ERROR: unknown node type 12 " with the latest beta: " mtx-context | warning: synctex is enabled ... This is LuaTeX, Version beta-0.87.0 (TeX Live 2016/W32TeX/dev) " and with the MWE: ---- \starttext \section{Principy} \stoptext ---- - see the attached log. The error messages are printed only to the stdout, not in the compilation log file. Anyway, a valid .pdf file is successfully produced, so it seems "Synchronize ERROR" is rather warning. New luatex release, 0.87.0 >From NEWS: ================================================== This is a next step upto 0.90 and it has the following changes: - image data is no longer stored in the format (it was fragile anyway) - pdf backend data generated when in ini mode is no longer stored in the format - (incomplete) \mag support removed from pdf backend (this functionality is kept in dvi mode) - there are a couple of improvements that should make luatex run a little bit faster (but of course that depends on the job at hand) - some further pending issues / cleanup has been done (but this is not reflected in the interface) - there is a new primitive \nospace: \nospace=1 do now not inject glue for spaces (not even zero glue) \nospace=2 inject zero glue for spaces - there are new primitives \hpack, \vpack and \tpack that are like \hbox, \vbox and \vtop but they don't trigger callbacks - we no longer keep track of older math character and delimiter definition states, but this should normally go unnoticed - from now on only ^^XX, ^^C, ^^^^XXXX and ^^^^^^XXXXXX are supported so no funny odd values (three and five) - texio.setescape(0) disables escaping to terminal (a matter of taste) - the (current) lc codes are now saved with the (current) language when patterns are loaded unless one hs used \hjcode instead of \lccode; overloading of \hjcodes is possible (but of course goes ahead of hyphenation which is delayed till parbuilding or packaging - active characters can now be set with: \letcharcode123=\foo (experimental) - there are some experimental new primitives but these will be described when they are stable (currently being tested) - there is more backend error reporting and all error messages adn warnings (the non-tex ones) have been normalized - of course there are the usual small fixes and additional setters and getters in libraries (see manual) ================================================== Last minute note: --synctex doesn't work. It will be fixed in the next release. Problem with first setup of StandAlone ConTeXt

This seems not only to affect the numbering of figures and tables, but also the numbering of enumerations (it ignores the options 'way=bychapter, prefix=chapter') and the section numbering ('1.0', '2.0', etc) in \setupheadertexts [\somenamedheadnumber{section}{current}][...etc]. Protrusion and \scale

It is a way I have of driving off the spleen and regulating the circulation. \stoptext My problem is that I would like the period at the end of the first line to hang, the same way I would get in the text body, and I can't figure out how. Dear list members, I ran into the following issue related to figure/float numbering. I use numbered chapters, sections, subsections and unnumbered subsubsections. See minimal example below. Figure numbering works as expected in the numbered chapters, sections and subsections. Figures get numbered: Figure 1.1 The figure numbering is unexpected in the unnumbered sub subsection: Figures get numbered: Figure 2 (in stead of the expected Figure 1.2) I would like all figures (and floats) to be numbered in sequence according the chapter numbering: Chapter 1: Figure 1.1, Figure 1.2, Table 1.3, Figure 1.4, etc Chapter 2: Figure 2.1, Figure 2.2 etc I've tried several \setupcaptions options but was unable to solve so far. Has the bidi mechanism (method=one, or method=two, etc.) been changed or redefined? My RTL brackets and numbers are being inverted. As of the beta operative in September 2015, these were working. horizontal spacing under special circumstances

Hi again, since my bibliographic setup works well, thanks again, I’d like to tighten it a bit, i.e. reduce spacing under defined circumstances. In the docs and sources I found only how to affect spacing of languages, and only "packed" or "broad". In lang-spa.mkiv I found \definehspace, and in spac-hor.mkiv I found \spac_spacecodes_set_fixed{}, but I don’t understand if they can do what I want, and how. This doesn’t help: \unprotect \definedescription[BibItem][ headcommand=\gobbleoneargument, align=right, before={\bgroup\spac_spacecodes_set_fixed{50}}, % does this take a value or a unicode point? after={\egroup}, %\spac_spacecodes_set_stretch}, ] \protect I’d also like to have footnotes in tighter spacing. Dear all, After searching ConTeXt wiki and googling, I got what I want using the attached code. It can be modified in nicer way which I don’t know. There are so many hidden commands in ConTeXt for me. It is absolutely convenient to use the “\defineenumeration” if I don’t use FunnyFrame. Thanks Hans and other developers of ConTeXt. I am trying to graph a cylinder. Is there a way to draw a more elliptic top/bottom. This one seems some flattened at the top and bottom. I would like to hatch the mid elliptic that is collored grey now. Is there a way to do this. missing reference of items

Hi wizards (I’m trying to adapt http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Manual_Bibliography, but that doesn’t really matter.) \item is documented to take a reference: \item[myref] But this reference is always unknown if I try to access it, see example: \starttext Siehe \in[eins] oder so. \startitemize \item[eins] Der erste Eintrag \item[zwei] Der zweite Eintrag \stopitemize \stoptext My error or ConTeXt bug? If that works, I’d like to setup something like: \definereferenceformat[cite][left={[},right={]},command=\in] I.e. \cite[Ramm 2015] should give … [Ramm 2015] … and that reference being a link to the bibliography item. Dear all, I found a partial solution for my former question which still have problems. 1. I set a new counter “ThmNumber” and use it in the FrameTitle. Its output is similar to what I want. 2. insert “after={\doglobal\increment\ThmNumber}” in the enumeration environment. 3. But the Initial value of ThmNumber is 0 even though \setcounter\ThmNumber1. Please enhance the sample code which works nicer way. Also, where can I find good explanation on “counter”? Thank you for reading. How to put title and counter of the enumeration env. in the FrameTitle?

Hi, I use the FunnyFrame and FrameTitle in the metafun book to display theorems. Thanks ConTeXt and MetaFun, it looks nice! For better output, I try to put “Theorem + number” in the FrameTitle instead of putting in the main text. But I couldn’t make it. I found a similar question and answers by Hans in the list (2015. 8.6-7) under the title “Some questions about an environment (Metafun)” It works fine but I want to put number too. Hi Thangalin, Thanks a lot for replying, Sure, I attach 2 mwe’s. First one (fill_mwe.tex) shows a “lettrine” + paragraph cut in bottom of 1st page (not desirable). To fix this problem I add \setpenalties\clubpenalties{5}{10000} to make sure the 6 first lines of paragraph are all together (5 lines for lettrine + 1 line to cover down the “lettrine”). This is shown in fill2_mwe.tex. There is another problem if the paragraph is too short (less than 5-6 lines) as the next paragraph will overlap with the figure, but that’s another story. Now of course, in the bottom of the page 1 there is a large space and I would like to insert some decorative item. But my problem is that I do not know how to write some logic to insert this decorative stuff only if the title of Section 2 is moved to second page (if it is not, ie the section 1 is shorter, the section 2 title and beginning would follow in page 1). I was hoping there was a possibility to have some “filling” function that’s called if the page has still some space (I remember there is a setting called \setuplayout[line] that arranges to do this with the lines in the page.) Fill up "bottom" space of page with some content

Dear all, I wondered if there was a way to fill up the bottom of the page with some content (an image, some decorative pattern …) to avoid large blank space in page (given some limits, ie more than 2 lines of space is left blank). By bottom of page I mean remaining space that could have been filled with text but given there was a page break it’s left blank. I saw some similar posts (relative to Fleuron) but the difficulty is that the amount of remaining space in the page is not easy to calculate, for example when having graphics, large drop caps that trigger a page break. natural tables and columndistance/spaceinbetween

In natural tables http://wiki.contextgarden.net/TABLE the parameters columndistance=dimension, and spaceinbetween=dimension, will set the gaps between columns and rows, respectively. Is there some way of specifying row gaps for specific rows? For example, say that I only want a gap after the first row. I tried: \bTABLE \bTR [spaceinbetween=.25em] \bTD 1 \eTD \bTD 2 \eTD \eTR \bTR \bTD A \eTD \bTD B \eTD \eTR \bTR \bTD a \eTD \bTD b \eTD \eTR \eTABLE Alternately, I tried \setupTABLE [r][1][spaceinbetween=.25em] but these do not work. One might think about trying \bTR [bottomframe=on,framecolor=white,rulethickness=.25em] ... \eTR but this presents several problems: 1) When using background=color, the background color gives a hairline overflow beyond the rule, at least using the pdf viewers that I have on my computer. 2) there appears to be some interference between setting rulethickness and columndistance, so that spaces between columns disappear when putting a thick bottomframe. Of course, one could kludge a column separation using a rightframe, but this is not satisfactory. 3) The use of a white rule when one really wants to leave some space is not very satisfying. Current status of epub export and documentation

Hi all, I am interested in the epub export feature of ConTeXt/MKIV. There are a some hints in epub-mkiv-demo.tex epub-mkiv.pdf http://wiki.contextgarden.net/ePub I am looking for a more detailed example (or documentation) to learn what is possible and what not. (Eg. \showsetup{command-name} is not exported to epub) Does anybody already made a full validated epub ebook with ConTeXt including cover, titlepage, appendix etc. ? Is there more information about the current status of the export feature? A release schedule or roadmap? Background of my question is that I am looking for a single source publishing tool for printed books and ebooks. TIA juh

I browsed the sources of this document but could not find the point where these list is defined. I know that in setup-en.pdf there is an even longer list, but I could not find the source of this document. Can anyone shed some light on this mechanism? TIA juh

\rm for greek letters in math mode

I see the third \delta here as italic, where I would have expected it to be in roman, as for the "d" example below. Likewise for all greek letters, I think. Why is that? How can I have these in roman? \starttext \delta $\delta {\rm \delta}$\crlf d $d {\rm d}$ \stoptext Thanks, -- Kate

Thank you, Wolfgang, I changed 'special' into another word and replaced 'incrementnumber=yes' by 'incrementnumber=list'. But the result does still not reach my second goal: my exercise numbers are still 1 and 1 instead of having chapter number prefixes (1.1 and 2.1). meaning of error message?

I have been experimenting with tagging.
