Dear list, I want to report a possible bug (I think), when one try to put a footnote into another footnote, here is MWE (from wiki): \starttext This\footnote{Or that\footnote{Or possibly even the other.}, if you prefer.} is a sentence with a footnote. \stoptext As you can see, the second footnote is not placed in the page. Issue with \blank halfline and title heads

Dear list, I would like to have a chapter title consisting of 1 line, halfline spacing, another set of lines, and another halfline spacing (I use grid=both but same issue with grid=yes), but I fail to acheive this. I give a simple MWE that shows wanted effect (without heading) which works all fine, followed by sample chapter which shows that ‘E’ is above the grid base line (added \showgrid to make it visible). Do I need to put the title content in some box ? buffers inside startMPpage

Dear list members, I create all my MetaFun drawings in a separate environment file where each individual drawing sits inside a start/stopbuffer. This allows me to easily use those drawings in all my documents using \processMPbuffer[name]. Works just fine. However, I also wish to have all the drawing available in a pdf file (each drawing on a separate page). This allows me to split the pdf and use the drawing elsewhere (e.g. in a Powerpoint) or include page(s) from the pdf in another document. The below MWE represent my MetaFun drawings file. The idea is that by uncommenting the \enablemode[makepdf] I can create the pdf file with drawings. It seems however that startMPpage does not accept buffers (I also tried processbuffer and processMPbuffer). Is it possible to somehow make this work? filter module: call function before calling the filter command?

Ahoi! As you probably know ;), I’m using the filter module with LilyPond, setup see below. Now, I’d like to overwrite "texsettings.ly", containing the setting of ConTeXt’s text width, each time before I call LilyPond, to adapt its note line width to the current text width. That would automate the line width adaption to e.g. columns. In the module’s documentation under "Dealing with expansion" I found the example of creating the filter command in a macro. Can I use this to call a Lua function first and then LilyPond? Parsing ConTeXt errors

Hello, I'm trying to parse ConTeXt errors. TeX and Lua errors seem easy to parse (search for 'tex error' and 'lua error', respectively), but I have a couple of problems with MetaPost messages. First, when there are MetaPost errors, context/mtxrun exits with a zero exit code. Is that intentional? Second, as far as I see, there is no way to locate the error in the source from the log. I can only retrieve the file causing the error (by searching for an 'open source' line - very useful, btw), but no line number. Am I missing something? I think it would be very useful to have at least an approximate indication of the position of a MetaPost error. Nicola

Changes in hyphenations with 2016-10-12 beta

Dear list, After ugrading to latest beta (to test typesetting with it for now), I noticed that some words that used to be hyphenated with previous versions are no longer hyphenated in the output, especially when the word break used to happen at a ligature (for example ‘st’ or ‘ct’). I had a quick look to the différences in files in tex/texmf-context/tex/context/base directory and I see some changes to font handling. Is this expected ? Or is there any mechanism to get the old behaviour ? I’ll try to build a MWE to show this if that’s required. Thanks a lot, Best regards Joseph Canedo

Hi all, At the recent 10th ConTeXt meeting, we also had the 6th members meeting of the ConTeXt Group. The ConTeXt Group uses the annual members meeting to keep track of the activities that are deployed by and for our members as well as ConTeXt users in general. One item on the agenda this year was the Electronic publication of the CG Journal. The assembly agreed that in the future we would publish the table of contents of the CG Journal as quickly as possible, and the PDFs of actual articles therein six months after appearance of the printed version of an issue. The table of contents of the 2016 journal issue is still undecided at this moment, we have to wait and see how many articles we will actually receive before the deadline of November 15. The PDFs of the 2015 journal issue will become available in March 2017, because it was released on paper during the 10th meeting. But the PDFs of previous issues’ articles can now be downloaded from: http://articles.contextgarden.net/journal While setting up this new site, I purposely used /journal for the CG Journal, so that there is room for other articles from other sources besides the ConTeXt Group. Ideas for improving documentation of ConTeXt

Hello everyone, I am new to new to ConTeXt and I was thinking about how to improve documentation to help users and then make ConTeXt more appealing. Because, if there is one weak point in my eyes with ConTeXt, it is the lack of documentation, which is too bad because ConTeXt seems to be really great. And google search is also a little tricky, since context is a common name. On the other hand, most of the help I found was on the wiki, the mailing list, TeX Stack Exchange and some pdf documentations. Sometimes, I also faced the problem about the documentation being outdated and when I am trying to find the solution on the internet, I may have a hard time finding solutions that aren't outdated too. The worse is maybe when a command option isn't working anymore with not even a warning. The basic idea I have is a database of ConTeXt documents, where everyone can add his own documents. We have also to make it easy to find there insightful examples in ConTeXt that will help someone to achieve what he is trying to do. Then users, especially beginners, will less likely be stuck at one point and looking for hours for a solution and less help will be asked on the mailing list too. Here are the basic concepts about the database : - When someone adds a document, he can specify the type of the document like e.g. report, letter, CV, book, etc. Subcategories could be a good idea too, e.g. letters can have a subcategory called cover letters. Some extra tags could also be useful, like e.g.: math, luatex, tables, positioning, etc when there is some use of the preceding, maybe not necessarily essential when the use is only basic. - If some extra fonts or modules are needed to be installed in order to make the example fully work, this could also be specified. - Search could be done by specifying one or more categories and tags. It will also be possible to search all the occurrences in the database of a command with optionally a command parameter. - It will be like a wiki so that everyone could improve the existing examples. - It can be also useful to allow comments, because it is possible that an example is close to what someone is trying to do, in which case he will look on the comments hoping that there was already someone who asked there the question and got answered. - In order to mitigate the problem with deprecation stuffs after some language changes, we could have all the commands and their options listed somewhere in the database, then when a command or command parameter is getting deprecated, it will be possible to mark it as so and provide some hints on how to fix it. After that, all the examples that use the deprecated stuffs will get a warning and hints will be showed about how to fix them. And since that examples are editable by anyone, there won't be hopefully very much of outdated documents. Here some are possible scenarios about searching in the database : - Someone is writing a letter and is trying to move one element (e.g. date, his address, receiver address) in another location without any success so far. Then he will go to this database, choose letter as category and positioning as extra tag and launch the search. Maybe he will get about 20 results, then chances are that some of the found examples will be doing something close enough to what he's trying to do, so that he could analyse the source and understand what he needs to do in his case. - Someone is looking about how to set the background color of a framed box. Then he will search occurrences of the uses of the \framed command which have color in their arguments. Then by looking at the found examples, he will find out that the color is set with the backgroundcolor argument and that the background argument need to be set to "color" too. position of linenumbering

How to use "fontsampler example" with Persian font

Dear All, Hello, I am trying to use "fontsampler example" with Persian fonts (please see below or "http://wiki.luatex.org/index.php/Fontsampler" for fontsampler codes). The problem is that Persian words apears as a string of separate glyphs, for example I get "ح‌س‌ن" instead of "حسن". Paranormal bug in TL 2016

Dear list, at some point my document started throwing an error ! error: (nodes): trying to delete an attribute reference of a non attribute node I managed to extract a minimal example which shows the error (below). However, the error only occurs when the filename of the document contains a hyphen! When I save the document as `test-error.tex' the error comes up, when I save it as `testerror.tex' it typesets smoothly. Unfortunately, I currently cannot update to latest beta because I have an important document where I cannot afford any regressions. loading and executing xml-buffer

I did not succeed in on-the-fly loading data from an xml-buffer and subsequently executing its content. The accompanying minimal example of a <document> shows what I strive to accomplish. The node <buffer> contains the buffered data (abc meant to be set in bold) and node <getbuffer> executing the typesetting. As can be seen the output the xyz outside <buffer> is correctly set in bold, but the contents of <buffer> is not processed: the xml is just reproduced. Obviously there is some misunderstanding on my part. I would like to be pointed in the right direction. Resume module with moderncv interface

Hello, I am trying to use the resume module with the moderncv interface without any success so far. I have errors when I am trying to use any of the added commands like \setresumevalue or \cvline. Log file is attached. Anywhere. Not in the ConTeXt distribution nor in TeX Live. That file was only posted to the mailing list by Idris and apparently nobody ever looked at it or added it anywhere. (It usually helps to provide a minimal example or a bit more context. Just saying that something doesn't work is a bit more difficult to debug.) If you want to get this work out of the box, it would be super useful to coordinate with the original author of tikz-cd to add support for ConTeXt. And if any other patches are needed, we should try to coordinate with upstream TikZ authors as well. I'm not sure what to do with "&" though. We could theoretically add that file to the ConTeXt distribution, but we'll then end up with other people asking why it doesn't work in TeX Live and I certainly cannot afford to do unauthorized changes to other TikZ files without getting a formal approval that something is broken and without at least getting some patch scheduled for approval by TikZ developers. So if you want to get that working temporarily, it's probably best to follow instructions in that email. If you want to get it fixed properly, we should convince the authors to add support upstream. I didn't look at the file(s) yet. Mojca PS: I have to add that I'm recently experiencing problems syncing with upstream TikZ sources - CVS (this has been a problem for perhaps two months or so).

buffering inside xmlsetups

A problem I am obviously not able to solve. It can be described as follows. I have an xmlsetup <tex>..</tex> that typesets texcode embedded in an xml document. Now it is needed to embed initializing a buffer and typesetting lateron with \getbuffer. Alas, doing the following does not woek: <tex> \startbuffer[name] bufferdata \stopbuffer </tex> because the TeX input hangs. My guess being that the \stopbuffer fails to terminate the data intake. I then tried to split off the buffer filling with a separate xmlsetup. itemize columns transposed

Unable to use Martin Vogels Symbols

Hello, I am using debian testing and I am trying to use Martin Vogels Symbols with no success so far. I have compiled a file containing the following : \usesymbols[mvs] \setupsymbolset [martinvogel 2] \starttext Telephone : \symbol[Telephone] \stoptext But it failed to show the telephone symbole in the pdf, unless compiled with texexec instead of context. I have the following lines in the log file (in attachement) : fonts > defining > forced type 'ttf' of 'marvosym' not found fonts > defining > font with asked name 'marvosym' is not found using lookup 'file' fonts > defining > unknown font 'marvosym', loading aborted fonts > defining > unable to define 'marvosym.ttf' as 'currentsymbolfont--0' marvosym.ttf is located here : /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-marvosym/marvosym.ttf. typeset page in page

I would like to typeset a page in small format (for example A5) and immediately put the result on the current page (for example in A4 format). modules.contextgarden.net update

Hi, Some of you will know already that the module author section of https://modules.contextgarden.net is functional again, as presented at the ConTeXt meeting last month. However, nobody can log in, because module authors now have a password (no more automatic wiki-connect). For new module authors, the registration process will handle the setup of password and such, but legacy authors need manual intervention. So, if you are the current maintainer of a module on modules.cg.net, please drop me an email message so I can hand you a temporary password for logging on (the old wiki-connect code did not store e-mail addresses either, making it hard to reach everyone except via this list). It would be good if the current authors could update their module metadata(s), because the new code has support for a “works with mkii/mkiv” flag as well as some other new fields. Also, I welcome comments and feature requests, now that the website code is in a language I can easily program in. Once most of the modules have been updated to reflect their mkii/mkiv state, I can start designing a search/filter interface to improve the front-end of the site. Best wishes, Taco

mathmatrix and grid

Dear list, I noticed that when using grid=both then the height of a mathmatrix is rounded down for no apparent reason whereas the depth is rounded up correctly. Visually it appears to me that the height should be rounded up here. In the MWE I added a \vrule to show that the determined height of the line definitely does not coincide with what one would expect. How can I fix that? MWE is below. frames for left/right pages

Hi, I have a wish list for independent frames and would like to know if this is possible in ConTeXt: 1. left and right pages in a doublesided document have frames with independent text flow, i.e. the text from p. 2 continues on p. 4, from p. 3 on p. 5, etc. The frames are regular frames and can have backgrounds, borders, etc. 2. After a couple of pages, these frames end. Below them, the text flows normally, i.e. begins below frame on p. 6 and continues below frame on p. 7. 3. Since I want to take my data from xml, the content of the frames will be taken from buffers. So this would give, in pseudo-code: \starttext \startleftrightbuffers \leftframe{\getbuffer[left]} \rightframe{\getbuffer[right} \stopleftrightbuffers Here, the normal text begins, it will flow below the frames... \stoptext Is this possible? MKIV caption separator, revisited

Has any progress been made in the past few years implementing modifiable separators for captions under MKIV? This was raised as an issue by (at least) Mojca Miklavec in December 2010 (http://www.mail-archive.com/ntg-context%40ntg.nl/msg51542.html) and by Andy Thomas 18 months later (http://www.mail-archive.com/ntg-context%40ntg.nl/msg63937.html) (Their issues with stopper have been resolved. In MKIV it is numberstopper.) Here is an MWE demonstrating the problem. It compiles cleanly, but the separator remains the default period. Last version standalone ConTeXt issue.

Hello ConTeXist. In the latest version ConTeXt it stopped working my macros which contents function he once advised me Taco. It is low level lua code. Can anyone advise me what the problem is, eventually. how to replace Lua code in my function to make it work again? Macros worked at least 6 years and now crashes. Here is my function: function thirddata.handlecsv.texmacroisdefined(macroname) -- check whether macroname macro is defined in ConTeXt -- function is used to test whether the user has defined the macro \macroname. If not, it needs to define any default value if token.csname_name(token.create(macroname)) == macroname then return true else return false end end Is there any alternative (ConTeXt like), which is should be possible use in Lua code? How do I compile a "flat" pdf?

Hi guys, I am trying to create a pdf which contains some graphics that I created. I want to pass my PDF digitally but I don't want users to be able to right-click on a gfx and save it. I think this is called "flattening". Is there a way in CTX to create such a file or do I have to recompile the PDF with 3rd party software? Is there maybe even a way to flatten only specific objects like, only one picture of many or all, and leave form fields unflattened? Thanks, Sebastian

Bug in \usetikzlibrary{datavisualization}?

Dear list, Sorry for posting a duplicate, but I guess my previous post got lost during the conference... When one tries to load the TikZ data visualization library, the documents does not compile anymore. The error is “.../tikzlibrarydatavisualization.code.tex: ! Missing number, treated as zero”. "marking=one" with marks on more than the first page

Taking extensible math accents from fallback font

Hi, Is it possible to take particular math accents from the fallback font. In praticular, I want to use NeoEuler as the math font, but want the \widehat and \widetilde accents to be taken from Pagella. This is because the widetilde accent of neo euler does not change the the size of the glyph. Until that is fixed, using the accent from another font is a stopgap solution. Thanks, Aditya

marks on the first page only

Hans, would it be possible to have a "first" value added to the "marking" key from \setuplayout that prints cut marks only on the first page of the document? In some cases, having cut marks in all pages is unnecessary. Or even unpractical, because some printers slightly move the marks when printing (they don’t print the text exactly on the same position on each page [it happens in most copyshops]). I would need this for the imposition I asked about yesterday (https://mailman.ntg.nl/pipermail/ntg-context/2016/087038.html) Sorry for insisting, but I need to solve the issues for something I have to send to a copy shop today. Hi, At the last context meeting it was decided that he groups will support the upcoming stages of the tex gyre font project. The work is done by the polish font gurus and so far they have been funded by the user groups. However, this time not all groups join in, while still substantial funding is needed for this stage that will run for several years. For a while there is already an entry for the project on: https://www.tug.org/donate/dev.html If you use the free math fonts you might consider donating there. After all, we depend on these fonts and there is still work to do: adding symbols to text fonts, a bold (heavy) companion for titling, a sans for titling, a monospaced math font for editing and manuals, completion, etc. The font folks have always delivered so donations will be well spent. ConTeXt has always been the first to use these fonts and I sort of assume that we will get these additions done as well, as it will make our live so much easier. The text–formula separation somehow is bigger when it occurs in a frame (see MWE below). Is there an explanation, and/or (even better) a possible fix? Thanks a lot! imposition broken in latest beta?

I have the following sample: \showframe \setuppapersize [A5][A4] \setuppagenumbering[alternative=doublesided] \setuplayout [backspace=0pt, topspace=0pt, marking=page, location=doublesided, header=0pt, footer=0pt] \starttext \filterpages[setup-en.pdf][1:10][width=0cm] \stoptext The PDF document is i-context.pdf from the ConTeXt Suite (tex/texmf-context/tex/context/interface/mkiv/i-context.pdf). For some reason that I don’t understand, the imposed page suffers a size reduction, as it is clearly displayed on the first page. With "location=doublesided", even pages are misplaced on the inner margin. Text is even cut (as displayed with this sample). Am I missing something in my sample or have I hit a bug? Hello list, I need a feature like the one described in http://www.pragma-ade.nl/gen eral/magazines/mag-1102-mkiv.pdf for annotated verbatim, but for normal text. Think about the main text flowing in a narrower text, with the annotations (like unnumbered sidenotes) in a widened right margin. Or think about a right margin moved left locally, as long as you need annotated text. Thanks, Massi

two questions on imposition

Mailing list search software

Hi all, After the ConTeXt meeting, we were inventorying the old sub-sites of contextgarden.net, in preparation of one or two new ones to appear within the next months. One thing that we used to have was a site that ran the “Lurker” software, providing dedicated searching of the mailing list archives for context-related mailing lists. That site is now gone (it was part of Patrick Gundlach’s server) and we are wondering whether it makes sense to revive a site dedicated to mailing list searches. And if people are indeed interested, we could use some advice on what software should we be using for the new site: * Lurker has not been updated since 2009, making it a fairly bad choice. * Mailman v2 has a horrible interface, and besides is not handling long-running threads properly and has almost no support for attachments. * Mailman v3 uses HyperKitty as replacement for pipermail. The output looks promising, but it is a Django application meant to be tightly integrated with the actual mailman instance (at least that is my understanding?) Surely there must be something better out there? Or maybe we should not care at all and use Google indexing only like we do now on the wiki? Best wishes, Taco

\blank[force, halfline] at top page issue

Dear list, I think this issue has been already reported (or a similar one http://www.mail-archive.com/ntg-context@ntg.nl/msg77729.html) but not resolved. It seems that if \blank[force, etc … is first in page there is additional spacing due to topskip. I’ve checked that this unwanted spacing disappears if topskip is set to 0, but I doubt it’s really good idea to mess up with this low level TeX setting (or is it good idea ?). Moreover browsing the spac-ver.* files I noticed the existence of a no_topskip mechanism which I guess would allow to remove (in lua code) the topskip glue node but there is no way to enable this from \blank command or at least could not figure it out. Is there an easy way to enable this no topskip feature ? Alternative I found is to use a \vbox etc… but wondered if there were some simpler way using \blank. appendices disregards page method

Dear list, when I'm starting a new chapter I want it to start on a recto page and if a page without text has to be inserted to fulfil this requirement it should be completely blank (no headers of footers). It was easy to achieve using \definepagebreak and setting the page method of the chapter (see MWE). However, when I switch to the appendix, this page method is disregarded and the preceding page is _not_ blank. In my MWE below, page 12 should actually be completely blank, i.e. no page number. How can this be achieved? Version 1.0.0 After some ten years of development and testing, today we have released LuaTeX 1.0.0! Instead of staying below one and ending up with versions like 0.99.1234, we decided that the moment is there to show the TeX audience that LuaTeX is stable enough to loose its beta status. Although functionality has evolved and sometimes been replaced, we have been using LuaTeX in production right from the start. Of course there are bugs and for sure we will fix them. Our main objective is to provide a variant of TeX that permits user extensions without the need to adapt the inner workings. We did add a few things here and there but they mostly relate to opening up the inner parts and/or the wish to influence some hard coded behaviour. Via Lua we managed to support modern functionality without bloating the code or adding more and more dependencies on foreign code. In the process a stable and flexible MetaPost library became part of the engine. The functionality as present now will stay. We might open up some more parts, we will stepwise clean up the code base while staying as close as possible to the Knuthian original, we will try to document bits and pieces. We might also experiment a bit with better isolation of the backend, and simplify some internals. For that we might use the experimental version but if we divert too much we may need to give that another name. We want to thank all those who have tested the betas and helped to make LuaTeX better. Hi, While discussing the state of the wiki during the ConTeXt conference, we came up with proposal to find a person (or a small group of people) whose task would be to: - extract the list of all existing wiki pages (you can get help with that) - group them in reasonable blocks (fonts, graphics, installation, ...) - push/remind the community to look into individual blocks at scheduled times We could for example have special "focus weeks" such as "installation week" where a list of all pages related to installation would be posted on the mailing list with the goal to clean those chapters up or to write the missing content. We need someone who will post reminders and push people. It would also be very helpful to have someone who would come up with a list of missing topics and some proposals to restructure and better organize the pages. (We realized that it might be easy to find people to go over one single page at a time, but no one has stepped forward to actively organize this work.) Looking forward to hear from new volunteers, Mojca (in the name of the brainstorming group at the ConTeXt meeting)

Overfull boxes in bibliography

Dear list, I noticed, that even though I set \version[temporary] to make overfull boxes visible, they were not marked with an overfullrule in the bibliography. Below you find a minimal example which reproduces the problem on TL 2016. First I typeset the entry by hand where the black rectangle shows up in the margin, then I format it automatically using \placelistofpublications where no box is shown. How can I have overfull boxes highlighted in the bibliography? Protrusion, hyphens and lining figures

Hello dear list. I am experiment a issue with one of my fonts. The problem appears when one try to use lining numbers as default font feature in documents. This font have the feature onum by default, so if I want lining numbers I have to use: definefontfeature[default][default] [% lnum=yes, protrusion=quality, expansion=quality, ] This works just fine, except for hyphens sign where character protrusion fails. I will appreciate any suggestion.

Hi, I updated my context (IV) installation recently and most of my tabulations are not working when they are placed with \placetable. Even the examples on the wiki do not work e.g. this aborts with an undefined control sequence error for the \stoptabulate: \starttext This is a very long text, longer than the width of the table. It must be long enough to flow to the next line to see the effect. \startplacetable[location=force,number=no] \starttabulate[|r|l|] \HL \NC I want this table \NC aligned in the center.\NC\NR \HL \stoptabulate \stopplacetable \stoptext I traced it to ending with a \HL. Tabulation in itemize list

Dear list, is there a clever way to put a tabulation into an itemize list? I would like to have it on the first line of an item, see MWE. However, when I just insert the tabulation after \item, the table is shifted down. A naive fix using \blank[overlay], on the other hand, places the tabulation too high. Hello list, I'm trying to reference a page range (think of a long quote spanning on 2 pages). I need to discriminate ranges collapsing to one page from "real" ranges (2 or more pages): "1-1" should become "1", while "1-2" should stay like that. For the Mac users: AppleScript to launch ConTeXt in a flexile way

Hello, Some months ago I wrote a little AppleScript script with one purpose: It should be a flexible script to launch ConTeXt typesetting, independently of the text editor I’m using and it should be capable to typeset the Product file even if I’m currently editing any component file belonging to that Product file. I used it for some time, I improved it, and I shared it with a collegue who also works with ConText on OSX. We’re still using it, many bugs have been fixed and some features were added. The script proved to be very useful for us and I thought, why not share it with the other Mac-ConTeXt people? Regarding the “a file” the script is very configurable and flexible: A) It can launch Ctx on a file currently opened in your text editor. It works with many text editors (BBEdit, MacVim, TextMate, etc.) as long as the editor is the frontmost process. B) It can launch Ctx on the parent Product file of the component file currently being edited. Defining a “Product file” can either be done semi-automatically or by hard-definition with two swappable register slots. C) If no eligible file is opend in an editor it will launch Ctx on the currently selected tex file in the Finder. The options added in the course of time are: A) Usage of a ConTeXt-Beta or a ConTeXt-Current installation, swappable B) Typesetting in the non-interactive shell or in the visible terminal C) Notifications D) Selection of PDF viewer (Skim, Preview, Adobe, …) E) Automatically calling the PDF viewer or not F) Optionally excluding generated PDFs from TM backup G) luatex or luajitex H) Beeps or no beeps, and so on I) Many other things, explained in the Description Also some features (“Tools”) have been added: A) Purging files including generated PDFs B) Info on the used Ctx version C) Updating the Ctx Minimal (Beta or/and Current) and archiving the old one D) Syntax Check E) Make formats, listing fonts, other, … F) Some extras added in the Extras folder (synctex with BBEdit etc.) G) Much more in the Description Some caveats: A) It works only on OS X B) The script is designed to work with 10.9 (Mavericks). It should also work with 10.8 (old notification via 3rdParty is still implemented). C) Out of the box it works only with the so called “ConTeXt Minimal Installation” (aka ConTeXt Standalone). It won’t work with TeXLive installations or any other kind of excessively screwed-up installations. But you can go into the script to make it work with anything. D) In order to get access to any text editor the script makes use of GUI scripting: you have to liberate the rights in the corresponding OS preferences. This may sound risky to you but the code is open so you can assure yourself of what the script does. E) You have to (and you really should!) read the Description that comes with the script. Problem with Cambria

Nested itemize horizontal/column problem

Hi 1) the following code \starttext \startitemize[n] \item \startitemize[a,horizontal,three] \startitem First \stopitem \startitem Second \stopitem \startitem Third \stopitem \startitem Fourth \stopitem \stopitemize \item On the outer level \stopitemize \stoptext generates the error tex error > tex error on line 9 in file /home/mickep/tmp/ctx-listexample14.tex: ! You can't use `\prevdepth' in restricted horizontal mode Isn't it possible to have nested itemize with key horizontal? 2) If I change the horizontal key to columns, then there is an extra line (the extra line in nested itemization has been discussed before, but not with these keys given, as far as I could see). I.e. the file \starttext \startitemize[n] \item \startitemize[a,columns,three] \startitem First \stopitem \startitem Second \stopitem \startitem Third \stopitem \startitem Fourth \stopitem \stopitemize \item On the outer level \stopitemize \stoptext gives the attached pdf file, where I would have exptected the first a. in the inner itemize to be on the same line as the 1. in the outer itemize. Bug in \not\in?

Hi, When using \not\in in math, the two symbols do not overlap as they should. Am I missing something? \starttext $v\not\in S$. \stoptext I am using 2016.09.12 18:27 beta on Linux with LuaTeX Version 0.98.3 (TeX Live 2017/dev). Thanks, ~MHB

Simple input vs component structure

Hi all, I have a set of reference manuals that consist of a number of chapters. Those documents pull in the individual chapters via \input commands. I have just recently discovered that ConTeXt actually DOES support a project/product/component structure. So, I have been experimenting with making the individual reference manuals ‘products’ and converting all chapters into ‘components’. However, I wonder what that actually gains me? What are the benefits of this product/component structure? It looks like I can reference other sections in these other components, but I can do that now even with the simple \input. What am I missing? Another related question in this context is: What do I actually expect when I run the project file, as in: $ context project.tex ConText runs for a little while, and actually states in the log somewhere result saved in file: project.pdf, compresslevel 3, objectcompresslevel 3 but no such file is generated; it also does not build the individual components? Nonbreaking, non-vanishing horizontal spaces above underbar

Dear all, I would like to create cloze texts with solutions, but I have problems with horizontal spaces above the underbar, namely: 1) After a linebreak, horizontal space is cut off despite the \zwj. 2) I cannot find a way of scaling the leading and trailing space to equal 0.2 times the width of the text above the underbar. Indentation after formula

Bug: \registerunit is not case sensitive

Formula starting with brackets

In the example below, using latest ConTeXt, the bracket "[f]” does not show when using \startformula. \setupbodyfont[xits,10pt] \setupmathematics[lcgreek=normal, default=normal] \starttext \startformula [f] = B \stopformula $$ [f] = B $$ \stoptext
