Small caps and bold

Hello, I'm trying to typeset some text in bold + smallcaps. But even the sample on wiki: http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Bold_small_caps extended to: ---- \starttext \setff{smallcaps} Normal and \bf bold Small Caps. {\sc Normal and \bf bold Small Caps.} \stoptext ---- doesn't produce bold small caps - see the attached files. \cite not working with notes in xtables

Hello List, I have this MWE that reflects my current layout where I have images in an xtable with captions defined as note. Both, footnotes and captions are set in the margin. The Example compiles correct with just one caption in a xcell. If there are two (as in the MWE) the \cite command doesnt work. Could this be a conflict on the lua side of xtables/publication framework? The second problem of course are the footnotes that are not placed on the correct side. I thought \automigrateinserts would help here. But it doesnt. Any hints how to solve this? \setuplist with numbercommand renders wrongly

TikZ modules are missing \startmodule

Hi, Since a module nesting check has been introduced in file-mod.mkvi, the TikZ modules provoke "module wrapping error" messages in the log file. WYSIWYM editor on top of ConTeXt / Lout

I was the one who asked the question (https://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/404617) Another thing I'd like to mention is that after a while `io.lines` simply returned nil, and the second and third return values (error message and error code) that io.lines is supposed to return in case of error were also nil. Even if this issue is not perfectly fixed (i.e. even if io.lines cannot be made to close the file descriptor when it reaches the end of file), I think it would be preferable to throw a clear error when there's a failure to open a new file, instead of silently (and in a not 100% reproducible way) returning nil.

Dear Wim, There were a lot of discussions during the night. For the use CJK, I think that Wolfgang’s example is good enough(Nanum fonts are free). Here is another simple way. In 2012, Hans included a typescript file for Un Fonts, you can use it just do “\setupbodyfont”. The good thing is you can handle Korean, Chinese, and Japanese together. I heard that Unfonts are included in TeXLive. If not, you can downloaded it. I hope that you have no problem to compile the follwoing code. LuaTeX: Weird GC behaviour

Dear devs, This was asked on TeX.SX: https://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/404617 The example below runs perfectly fine in the normal Lua interpreter, but crashes in texlua because the maximum number of open file handles is exceeded. This seems to be a peculiarity of io.lines in texlua. Is there anything special to the implementation of it in LuaTeX? Modifying an existing letter style

I am typesetting a letter using Wolfgang's letter module. I have a requirement that is not satisfied by any of the existing styles, namely that the to-address, i.e. the address, and the from-address, i.e., the header, need to start at the same height and be positioned next to one another. I am using the modified style and am trying to adjust the layout via he \setupletterstyle command without success. I have look at the sources and have seen how the elements of the various styles are stacked. All styles use the default style, which defines lefthead and righthead elements, but only the din styles and those styles derived from them seem to use these elements. Is there any way to acheive the required side-by-side layout short of cobbling together my own style? Any helpful advice would be greatly appreciated. -- With kind regards, Michael Guravage

Tweaking an existing letter style

I am typesetting a letter using Wolfgang's letter module. I have a requirement that deviates from any of the existing styles, namely that the recipient, i.e. the address, and the sender, i.e., the header, need to start left and right respectively and at the same height. I am using the modified style and am trying to adjust the layout via he \setupletterstyle command without success. I have look at the sources and have seen how the elements of the various styles are stacked, but I cannot discern how to achieve the side-by-side arrangement I require. complete cut marks

Would it be possible to have a marking=crossed such as the one proposed in the attachment? (BTW, I added them by hand with Inkscape, this is why they look awful.) Modern CV like cover letter example

Hi all, I am using a Makefile to call context on a XML-file. With older versions of context I could build the PDF in a special targetdir defined in the Makefile. 'lua.registercode' bug in latest beta

Hi, Using '\ctxloadluafile' can get an error: ``` ..ext/tex/texmf-context/tex/context/base/mkiv/luat-cod.lua:50: bad argument #1 to 'gmatch' (string expected, got nil) ``` It seems to be caused by 'if options ~= ""' in `lua.registercode'. Hi! I use the Neo Euler which has no doublestruck characters. extreme tables cell spanning interference: a bug?

Dear list, i've found that a cell spanning across multiple rows in extreme tables interferes with a cell spanning across multiple columns on a common row. Adjust rendering of BibTeX entries

Dear list, I would like to render BibTeX-entries with the provided APA-style, however, in the text use superscript cross references. I have the following issues, which I don't know how to resolve. I was hoping, you could help me. 1. When choosing the style APA, the change to \setupcite seems to be ignored, see the minimal example below. (When changing alternative=apa back to alternative=ams, it works again.) 2. As I am citing bibliography entries with numbers, adding letters to the end of the publication years makes no sense. How can I loose the letters? Now, also the provided AMS-style adds these letters, which I don't think should be the case, too. 3. The edition field when citing a book is rendered wrong. It should be 7th edition followed by a period. (Compare this with the ams-style, where the edition field is rendered correctly.) How can I add the period and automatically add the st, nd, rd, th to a edition number? 4. Say, I would revert back to AMS-style but using superscripts rather than the [#Number] default. How can I loose the square brackets in the reference section? Thank you very much in advance. Textbackground offset with multi-col paragraphs

Hi, I noticed that with one of the recent betas the right offset of my textbackgrounds doesn’t work properly anymore when the textbackground contains a multi-column “paragraph”. synctex and TeXShop problem

With the latest betas, I see that with the TeXShop Engine #!/bin/tcsh # Before using this engine, you must run the following command once in Terminal: luatools --generate set path= ($path /usr/texbin /Users/bowen1/Dropbox/ConTeXt/tex/texmf-osx-64/bin) mtxrun --script context --autogenerate --file-line-error "$1” and \setupsynctex[state=start, method=max] in the source file, the requisite *filename*.synctex auxiliary file is produced on processing. But I am still not getting any linkage between the source file and the preview file, that is, clicking on one does not have any effect on the other. Is there something else that I need? I am running ConTeXt ver: 2017.11.15 with macOS 10.13.1. Alan

getting metafun positions within (displayed) math mode

Dear ConTeXters, For my sins, and to make students unhappy all over the world, I am writing another book: _A Student's Guide to Newton's Laws of Motion_ (for Cambridge University Press, aka CUP). As partial compensation, I convinced CUP that I may typeset it in ConTeXt and deliver them PDF. Being hopefully a guide actually useful to students, it will annotate every symbol in important equations, a feature cribbed from the first book of the _Student's Guide_ series, Dan Fleisch's _A Student's Guide to Maxwell's Equations_. I've attached an image of what such an annotated equation looks like (from page 2 of Fleisch's book). It's like a labeled part diagram (say, for a laptop), where each part (here, each symbol) is connected with an line to its explanation. I'm trying to do so with a combination of ConTeXt, MetaPost/MetaFun, TikZ, and whatever else might work. But I am a bit stuck at the following spot. My plan is to use MetaFun to get the coordinates of each symbol in a (displayed) equation and then, with MetaFun, connect those symbols to mini-paragraphs of explanation that surround the equation. But I am stuck on how to use \hpos in math mode. I'd like to do something like: \startformula \hpos{n1}{\sum}_{\hpos{n2}{0}}^{\hpos{n3}{1}} \stopformula to get the locations of the nodes n1, n2, and n3 without interfering with the math typesetting -- e.g., the engine should still know that \sum is in display-math mode, so it should be large and have its sub- and super-scripts below and above it, rather than next to it. However, the \hpos hides its argument in an \hbox, and thus hides it from the math layout. Thus, I have to do something like this minimal example: \starttext \startformula \sum_0^1 % what it should look like \quad \hpos{n1}{$\displaystyle\sum$}_{\hpos{n2}{$0$}}^{\hpos{n3}{$1$}} \stopformula \stoptext The hpos'ed version after the \quad looks different, even after the \displaystyle hack. Is there a version of \hpos for math mode? That would be the cleanest solution, because who knows what else would be needed for other cases, even if the limits can be placed correctly. Or is there a better way to annotate equations? (TikZ seems to have the same issue, in that it cannot see into equations.) Hi Gour, I'm using org-mode for almost everything. If I need a pdf-file of, e.g., a subtree, I do the following: 1. Export the subtree as an org-file (the directory, title etc. of the exported file are specified as :PROPERTIES:) 2. I process the exported file with a ruby-script I wrote myself. It does what I need, i.e. very basic things. More complicated stuff can be included in the original org-file, as context-commands, provided they don't bother you. The result is a .tex file. 3. process the tex file with context. I tried Pandoc, but concluded it was easier to concoct something myself. Hi, I got a partial solution to suppress the automatic display by changing “text=theorem,” to “text=,” and “number=yes” to “number=no”. But, I couldn’t remove a blank line before the main text. The command \FrameTitle{Theorem \getmarking[chapternumber].\recurselevel} shows “Theorem 1.1”, but the it shows the chapternumber -1 not the real chapternumber. Hello, I plan to start working on series lectures/presentations for educational purposes and I'm going to use ConTeXt for typesetting the whole material. Considering that for smaller articles (e.g. blog posts) I use Emacs' org-mode (with Hugo static-site-generator) and spend fair amount of time with org-mode, I wonder whether you in general can recommend using org-mode for collecting notes and then export to ConTeXt (via Pandoc)? Another concern - disclaimer: still haven't go through excellent Bibliographies manual - is whether it is possible to e.g. use org-ref (https://github.com/jkitchin/org-ref) - orgmode's support for RefTeX (https://www.gnu.org/software/auctex/reftex.html) which is mentioned in the wiki (http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Reftex) or is is better to excusively work within the scope of ConTeXt? I've also noticed that Bibliogrpahies manual does mention JabRef and Zotero for managing databases, so I'd appreciate if ConTeXt users can share their experience in regard? Problem with math alignment

Hi everybody, Does anyone have noticed that the mathalignment has changed its behaviour recently? I think a bug has managed to enter the environment which handles the mathalignment, at least since a few weeks ago. I did not report it earlier because I was traveling and did not have a stable internet access. problems with XML export

Here are a few problems that I encountered in my current ePub projects: * \color[]{} leaves no trace in export. * As soon as I activate export, my PDFs get two pages more, i.e. page breaking changes somehow, I didn’t yet track how. * For quotability, I’d like to set markers in my HTML, where the print version has page breaks. But the exported XML doesn’t contain anything like that. Is it possible to add? * Some spacing like \, gets lost. I’m sure there’s an appropriate Unicode glyph. Reproducible PDF output

I would like to have reproducible PDF output from ConTeXt documents. I tried the suggestions at https://tex.stackexchange.com/a/313605/146025 but they did not work. The PDF output has information like "ConTeXt.Time", "CreateDate", etc., which depend on the time the source was processed at. How do I suppress such temporal information, that is not supplied by the author, from the PDF output? Now, even when the source has not changed, if I run context on it, the PDF output changes, and the version control system reports the PDF file as modified. insert tags in export xml

Ahoi, I’m working on ePubs again and need a bit more information in the exported xml. E.g. I defined my own small caps macro: \def\SC#1{{\sc\lowercase{#1}}} to be able to say \SC{ISO} instead of changing everything into lowercase like {\sc iso}. (I also tried OpenType features, but those were too unreliable with my fonts. That’s not the problem here.) But my small caps end as unmarked lowercase in the exported xml. I didn’t manage to combine my above approach with \definehighlight, but after poking around in the source (core-sys.mkiv, strc-tag.mkiv) I found this solution: \def\SC#1{\dostarttagged{highlight}{scaps}{\sc\lowercase{#1}}\dostoptagged} so that \SC{ISO} becomes <highlight detail="scaps">iso</highlight> Works for me. Ancient Egyptian Representation

Hi Folks, I'm trying to figure out ways of representing: Using computer-intelligable output. This (if you have a font supporting ancient egyptian installed): 𓄂 𓂝 𓈖 𓁷 𓂋 𓇋 𓅭 𓊵 𓃝 𓏏 𓊪 𓁹 𓈖 𓈎 𓅡 𓏏 𓇋 is an awful attempt at same using google docs tables inside tables, but should have the virtue of being interactable-with. The characters themselves are part of the ancient egpytian block and have font support (noto by google) The problem is in composition. There's: Above/below (that first "character" is composed of two), overlapping (that bull-thing with bits), mirrored, right-to-left and left-to-right, as well as vertical text. While these characters can be laid out in jsesh or equivalent, the output is of an *image* instead of something which can be well-represented (much-less copied and pasted). As one of the routes of exploration, since I do quite a lot of work in ConTeXt, I'm wondering what ... modes.... one would need to be in to even start thinking about placement here. (I'm avoiding simply placing graphics objects by hand as that defeats the purpose). I suppose my question is: is it worth trying to coerce ConTeXt into working with this, or do I need to investigate a different *sort* of tool entirely? (probably a purpose-built xml parser or something in that vein). Cheers, -Brian

\overline problem again.

Hi, Yesterday, I had a weird output of the following sample code. \overline changes the baseline when it is used in the column environment. It works fine if it is used without columns. I had similar problems long time ago and I thought it was fixed at that time. Please check the following sample. ASCII input - non ASCII output

Hi, Is there a way in context, that for some *text* ascii input (in source .tex file) define mapping in internal tex system ? For example, if i put two ascii characters "dj" in .tex file, can i get cyrillic character "ђ" in .pdf ? And so on, for input b, v, g, d, ... to get output б, в, г, д, ... Or more general, for every letter/string in unicode to define the way that it should be read. It's benefit for non ascii language users, because in that case they don't need to switch keyboard layout all the time between command, math input and text input. In Latex, package fontenc(precisely OT2 encoding) do that things. Thanks for answers, I'm afraid, I didn't completely understand all of you about transliterating commands name. I don't want to do this. I don't want to translate or transliterate command names. I just want to transliterate *text* part of input. I can't split *commands and math* input from *text* input, because there is inline math and commands are all around . It is serious amount of switching. (ALT+ SHIFT keys), and when i'm thinking about what i should type(about subject) i forget to switch, and that's happening all the time. Mojca, for 'ž' i again have to switch keyboard. Also, Mojca probably the best understand what i want and that Serbian language can be written equally in latin and cyrillic script. Some people privately write in one script and some other people in another. So there is a lot of scripts in Serbia written in latin script. But official is CYR. ОТ2 doesn't transliterate commands--- just text --- and i'm able to type 'zh' and 'ж' in the same file and he knows what i want, both input characters he treats the same. Even more Babel understand that too, and hyphenate words according the rules define in cyr. > >

Arbitrary tag of displayed formula

Hi! Is there a way to tag a displayed formula with arbitrary text? As far as I can remember it was possible to use \eqno before, but that does not seem to be the case anymore. For my use case I do not need the possibility to cite the equation, if that helps. I asked the same question at stackexchange (see https://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/400257/tag-equation-in-context-with…) but was redirected here. I'm thinking of a minimal non-working example like: \startTEXpage[offset=2bp] \startformula 1+1=2\eqno{A} \stopformula \stopTEXpage /MIkael PS I use this when constructing exams. Then it is good to be able to put the points to the right. And sometimes this is done in displayed formulas. Dear list, after updating ConTeXt to latest beta, any invocation shows this error: ~/context/tex/texmf-linux/bin/mtxrun:633: attempt to index local 'searchers' (a nil value) This happens with "mtxrunjit --generate" or with "contextjit --version" (to name only two). Hi, I'm trying to generate a frame with a title. My first idea is something like (ASCII Art): +- Title -------------+ | Text text text text | | more and more text | +----------------------+ A frame with title breaking the top line . But I am not picky and something like beamer floating boxes (theorem, proof, ...) for latex is good for me too. In wiki, the frames doesn't have title and I'm not sure about if I have to fight with overlays, with MP and this is out of my league. Hello, how to make tabulate row "aware" of some content of some "bigger" height? Tagging nested itemize with interaction

Two requests for new btx subsystem

Two improvement requests for the new bibliography subsystem: 1. Tag titles (and subtitles) with the language explicitly provided in the bib entry. 2. Add editor and translator to fields supported in \cite[field][tag]. An example follows. It shows that the title generated by the \cite[title][tag] does not have an associated language, even though the bib entry specifies one and the publications manual indicates that this is intended for the rendering and hyphenation of the title. It is apparently used for that in the bibliography, but it is needed as well in the text. (And yes, /Formenwandlungen/ does have the same hyphenation points in both German and English; this was just a convenient example.) Hi, Luigi and I are currently looking into Lua 5.3 in combination with LuaTeX. We have an experimental setup and all seems to work well, which given the new number model of Lua is good news. Depending on how we compile the binaries we either gain some speed or in the worst case loose half the performance but that will be sorted out one of these days as we know where to look. For most users the consequences will be minimal but for those who use a lot of Lua it makes sense to keep an eye on the subtle differences between 5.2 and 5.3 which is why I post this. For TeXLive we don't expect the switch before 2019 (so 2018 will ship two binaries with the 5.2 one the official one) but for the context distribution we will make the switch earlier so that we can test in real situations. I need to substitute the regular and italic characters of a publisher’s non-math font (Unicode) for those in a math font. The non-math addresses are: 0041-005A, 0061-007A %italic uppercase and lowercase 0391-03A9, 03B1-03C9 %slanted Greek uppercase and lowercase The math addresses are: 1D434-1D44D, 1D44E-1D467 %italic uppercase and lowercase 1D6E2-1D6FA, 1D6FC-1D714 %slanted Greek uppercase and lowercase Is there a way to use the \definefallbackfamily mechanism that does not assume that the characters have the same Unicode addresses? vertical alignment of images in Natural Table

Hello, I am trying to vertically align images within a bTABLE/Natural Table cell. The result should be 4 cards on an A4 page with a simple maths exercise and a small image that illustrates the exercise. The image should be horizontally and vertically centered within the space after the text. Exercise text and image size vary somewhat, so a fixed placement is not possible. I have tried \vfill, but it seems to have no effect in a Natural Table. Similarly, \placefigure has not worked for me. As basic layout I am using a Natural Table (4 x 4 cells per page, 12 pages), maybe not the best solution. Alternative suggestions are most welcome. Suggestions would be much appreciated. I'm still trying to: - download hvdm-plc documentation (link http://www.hvandermeer.com/publications is broken) - install & use hvdm-plc module (which may be named differently under ConTeXt distribution). There was a mail traffic on this theme but I'm not sure all has been finished so that there is a HvdM's "place-block" module available under Ctx. So - what is the state of the module, in relationship with Ctx? Dear list, I have uploaded a new module to https://modules.contextgarden.net/cgi-bin/module.cgi/action=view/id=86. It allows reading data from CSV files and it is useful for document merging. The problem is that the ConTeXt Suite skips the download because it is an unknown module. Sorry for insisting, but must the module obtain an approval or something similar? Request for GitHub template on Wiki

It would be nice to be able to link to files in the `context-mirror' repository on GitHub from the Wiki, because it is perhaps more current than the one at repo.or.cz, and because some users may prefer the GitHub interface to the GitWeb interface at repo.or.cz. Problem with Wiki skin

I have created an account in the Wiki, and accidentally chose the `Erudite' skin in the Appearance section of the Preferences page. Since then, every page has been displayed as an empty page. I am working in Linux, with Firefox. I disabled the style (View -> page style -> no style), but I still got an empty page. The source of every page (Ctrl-u) was empty. I tried with text based browsers (w3m and Emacs EWW) but with the same effect: empty page, no source. It seems to be related to the particular skin. If I add the "?useskin=default" suffix to every URL, I can see it properly, e.g., http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Special:Preferences?useskin=default shows the preferences page properly. But if I follow any link from it, I again hit a blank page. I request one of the Wiki administrators to reset my preferences to the default ones. The user name is "raghu". Problem using nested \processcommalist and \startparagraphs columns

I am having a problem with the combination of nested \processcommalist and \startparagraphs columns and I do not see any obvious issues. Run the example below with "--mode=unroll" and it works fine. Run it without that mode, and it fails. Difficulties with learning about ConTeXt

I am a mathematician, and have been using LaTeX on a daily basis since 1992, when I was a graduate student. I have recently started using ConTeXt, and am very happy with the facilities it provides, and with its self-contained system which does not require one to load external packages with subtle interactions. One problem that I am facing is that the documentation of ConTeXt is often not enough for me to figure out what to do when a problem arises. I understand that documentation is perhaps not a priority for the project. As Hans Hagen wrote in `? Context', "... writing can get a lower priority in a time when quick and dirty answers can be found on the internet, mailing list or wiki. ... For what it's worth: whenever I have to solve a problem with a program (or language implementation) I run into cases where I have to look long to ﬁnd (non conﬂicting) information. It just comes with the problems one wants to solve and TeX (ConTeXt) is not diﬀerent." However, there is not a great deal of information on the Internet about solving ConTeXt problems. Whenever I ran into a LaTeX problem in the last several years, I used to find a solution, or a substantial step towards one, that was already documented on the TeX-LaTeX Stack Exchange. Unfortunately, it does not contain a similar amount of information about ConTeXt. In any case, I have started posting ConTeXt questions there, see https://tex.stackexchange.com/q/397463/146025 and https://tex.stackexchange.com/q/397607/146025 As for the mailing list, I posted three requests for help here in the last one week. When I bumped my first message after more than a day without any response, Tomas Hala kindly came to my rescue. The other two messages, posted four and two days ago, have not elicited any response yet. This contrasts with Aditya Mahajan's experience, which he describes in his interview at http://tex-talk.net/2012/08/textalk-an-interview-with-aditya/: "Most questions on the context mailing lists are answered within minutes ... look in the main manual and the wiki to see how to achieve the particular effects that you wanted, and if you cannot figure it out, ask on the context mailing list." I understand that we are all busy, and it is not easy to find time to answer novice queries on the list. Lastly, I found the Wiki useful sometimes for quick and dirty solutions to problems, and sometimes as a source of documentation. Yet there have been several cases where I could not find what I wanted in it. For example, I could not find the answers to my last two queries on this list and to my two questions on SE, in the manual, on the archives of this list, or on the Wiki. These problems mean that I have to spend much more time experimenting and searching before I find a reasonable way to get the things I want with ConTeXt. Given the beauty of the results that ConTeXt returns, I don't mind that. However, I wonder if there are others who have similar problems learning about ConTeXt, and if they have some words of advice for me. Is there a command which prints to the log file the default values of the keys in the setups that are used in a document? For example, when I define a new document division with \definehead [mysection] [section] [style=...] it helps to know the default value of the `style' key for `section' headings. External graphics directory

Is it possible to specify an external graphics directory either as an environment variable, or as a command line option to `context', instead of writing `\setupexternalfigures [directory=../../foo]'? I tried the environment variable setting TEXINPUTS=../../foo:: as in http://www.tex.ac.uk/FAQ-graphicspath.html, and the command line option --path=../../foo for `context', but neither works in my Linux environment. \hyphenation problem

Or am I doing something wrong? With the following, Schwarzenegger is not hyphenated according to the instruction. Missing Chapter Numbers

Using "placehead=no" causes the spacing to change when framing an entire section. three issues with \setuptyping

Hans, [I have reported this before the meeting, but it was wiser to wait after the meeting was over.] I have the following sample: %~ \usemodule[scite] \starttext \startTEXpage[offset=2em] \startTEX This is text. % a comment, not \comment \stopTEX \startXML <p>This is text.</p> \stopXML \startLUA if code=="code" then --this is a comment --[[ this is a multiline comment --]] not part of the comment ---[[ this isn’t a multiline comment ---]] \stopLUA \stopTEXpage \stoptext I’m experiencing three issues: 1. Both TeX and Lua comments only mark (in bold and darkyellow) the comment character, but not the comment content. 2. Multiline Lua comments remove the first line break after the comment begins. Brackets are also affected from first issue. 3. XML comment characters are marked as standard tags. Using the scite module removes the three issues (XML comment chars are in a different color, both from comment content and from any other element). But the scite module doesn’t allow the options \setuptyping has. Would it be possible that whole comments may be formatted in the same color and font (TeX, Lua and XML)? ANNOUNCEMENT: ConTeXt "nodes" module (in core).

Gentle ConTeXt users: Following the presentation made at the ConTeXt users' meeting in September in Maiburg, Germany, we are pleased to announce the introduction of a new ConTeXt module for the drawing of nodal diagrams. Thanks to the efforts of Hans Hagen, it has been integrated into the core code so there is no need to load a module. A manual has been written and is now available in the Standalone distribution. It can be found under $CONTEXTROOT/texmf-context/doc/context/documents/general/manuals/nodes.pdf. Those who know the ConTeXt manuals will recognized Hans' hand in helping to create the cover artwork as well as other stylistic improvements! Like all of ConTeXt, this is a "beta" release and may undergo further development. It is MetaPost based, but those who might be intimidated a bit by the MetaPost language should not be afraid, for we have tried to make it as simple as possible. Please take a look at it. We, of course, welcome constructive feedback. Alan (and Hans)

avoiding two lines on last page

Occasionally, one of my components (chapters) ends with only two lines on the last page. Since space is at a premium, I was wondering if there is a way to encourage ConTeXt to put these two lines on the preceding page. I do not have a mwe, so any tips about strategies and commands to consider will be much appreciated. Alan

vertical alignment of images in Natural Table

Apologies if this is a double posting. But my first mail never appeared on the list. Hello, I am trying to vertically align images within a bTABLE/Natural Table cell. The result should be 4 cards on an A4 page with a simple maths exercise and a small image that illustrates the exercise. The image should be horizontally and vertically centered within the space after the text. Exercise text and image size vary somewhat, so a fixed placement is not possible. I have tried \vfill, but it seems to have no effect in a Natural Table. Similarly, \placefigure has not worked for me. As basic layout I am using a Natural Table (4 x 4 cells per page, 12 pages), maybe not the best solution. Alternative suggestions are most welcome. Suggestions would be much appreciated.
