Newbie screwed up his installation

Hi, I must have completely screwed up my Context installation--files that typeset OK yesterday now won't compile anymore, even for three-liners, I get this error: ! Hi, Here are some new thingies for pdf freaks: \setupinteraction[state=start] \useattachment[whatever][test.tex] % \setupattachments[\c!symbool={symbol-normal,symbol-down}] \starttext \attachment[whatever] \stoptext This will embed a file and works ok in acrobat <=6. If you have acrobat 6, there is now some rudimentary support for pdf-layering. http://www.pragma-ade.com/temp/pre-dtp.pdf http://www.pragma-ade.com/temp/layers.pdf In acrobat 6, there is a layers tab on the left end of the screen. The pre-dtp file only has layers enabled on the page that talks about layers (fyi, this is the presentation i used for eurotex). Not to be redistributed! ... and of course a new beta, take your most complex document, process it with \showlayoutcomponents, and you'll get access to all text/graphic layers that are in there. Nice for debugging. Runtime graphics

In the logfile, I got the messages : figures : figureobject test-mprun.1 is reused figures : figureobject test-mprun.2 is reused and twice the figures of graphserieA.mp on test.pdf. Is there a way to avoid the re-use of test-mprun.1 and test-mprun.2, I mean a way to overwrite the files test-mprun.1 and test-mprun.2 ? Or a way to get different names for each metapost output as, for example, graphserieA-mprun.1, graphserieA-mprun.2 and graphserieB-mprun.1, graphserieB-mprun.2 ? I could also give a different number to each of the figures in all of the *.mp files, but this solution is not pacticable since I have plenty of metapost files to process, each of it containing a lot of figures already numbered with almost the same numbers. Moreover, those numbers can not be modified because the figures are elsewhere referenced by their number and by the name of the metapost file. Thanks, --pv

Different behaviour Windows vs. Linux

Hello everybody, When I compile a MyWay (uses s-mag-*.tex) under Windows everything runs smoothly. When I compile the same file under Linux, where I got also a texlive7 tree installed, the \setupencoding[texnansi] is not read from the cont-sys.ini, though the file contains this statement. - As a consequence Context fails because it is looking for ec-uplr8a instead of texnansi-uplr8a. For the time being I edited the s-mag-00.tex and replaced the \usetypescript[palatino][\defaultencoding] by \usetypescript[palatino][texnansi], which solves the hick. Is this a specific Linux issue? Defining your own custom numbered itemization

For a simple manual I would like to setup a sort of customized enumerated list, but I don't see how to do this in ConTeXt. What I would like to do have something like \setupitemize[9][inmargin][before=\itemcolor, inbetween=\stopcolor] \startitemize[9] \item This is step 1. \item Followed by step 2 \stopitemize In which the text is set as a numbered list with the numbers in the margin and set in color to make them stand-out. However I don't want to make this the default of the default numbered list using \startitemize[n]. Anyone know the best way to do this? Regards, Frank

How to set font for units

Hello, How do I setup the font used by the SI-Unit abbreviations. I use something like the following: \usemodule[units] \setupbodyfont[pos,sansserif] \starttext The wavelength of the pulsed Nd:YAG laser is 1.064 \Micro\Meter. \stoptext The bodytext is in Helvetica, but the units are in times. How can I setup ConTeXt to use the sans-serif font for the units as well? Regards, Frank

Hi, I'm a bit stummied. This is not the first font I install, however this one gives problems I do not know how to tackle: Frutiger pfrl8a and pfrb8a After runnig texfont, all files are in the expected directories. Sample letter layout, replacement for NTG brief style

I currently use the Dutch NTG letter style with LaTeX, which I would like to replace with a ConTeXt based system. Even though LaTeX works fine, I think that I can better spend my time on learning ConTeXt as this will not limit me so much in future projects. So I was wondering if any ConTeXt users have already created a layout file to write letters, with the appropriate placement of the Address, logo's, folding stripes, etc.. If not than I would like to solicit some pointers on how to do two things: 1. place a logo at an exact XY position on the paper 2. exact placement of the address block (as this needs to fit with standard envelope windows). Resetting an enumeration

Wrap-around.

Context will place figures right or left. However Context will not AFAIK fit text to an irregular illustration, or around an arc etc. TheTeXbook describes a very tedious command: \parshape (p101) which could allow one to fit the lines to an illustration, arc etc. by hand. This may be a function of The general TeX procedure to write out the items on one pass and bring them in on the next. The write to \chapter{foo} may reinitialize the external file when it is encountered on the second pass. According to the TeXbook the write occurs when the page is shipped out. So \chapter{foo} probalbly clobbers the external file. Still the TOC mechanism should be developed in a way that it is possible to incorporate items occurring before the TOC in the TOC. This is not an uncommon requirement. A cure might be to move the external file to a different file name at the end of each pass in texexec, and bring in that copy of the file instead of the original external file to create the actual TOC.. That way any premature references would not go to the copy but to a new original. Pehaps Hans could rewrite the texexec or the Content macros themselves to do this. In pseudocode of sorts it would work like this: \starttext \chapter{foo} =write to filea \placecontent= read from fileb \chapter{bar}=write to filea \chapter{alpha}=write to filea (etc.) \stoptext. copy filea to fileb end -- John Culleton Able Typesetters and Indexers

Hi, Subject say some, let me elaborate to make myself perfectly clear. I have a few figures at the end of a section, right before the start of the next section. The figures however end up in the wrong location. I've seen various permutations of the following: figures are placed in a location where they don't fit (with the figure starting below the lower margin and only 50% fitting on the page) and an empty page-end, followed by the section title, followed by one figure below the title, and the second figure (on yet another new page) ... Are there commands to flush the figures, or is there another, more elegant solution? Which part of the setup would you need to see to help me solve this issue? Hello ConTeXters, First, I'd like to thank Hans, belatedly, for the columns.pdf manual which I have been happily using. Column sets are one of the main reasons that I have enjoyed working with ConTeXt so much, and having a manual makes them much, much easier to figure out. Second, I would like to ask if "text flows", which are introduced in the manual, are implemented at all. When I attempt to use the examples, ConTeXt complains about the macros not being defined. Searching through the sources also fails to find anything. I am using the latest beta. Are they only defined in the dutch interface? Any pointers at all would be helpful. Regards, Erik Hetzner

Dear ConTeXtnicians I am trying to track down something which causes \setupwhitespace not to work as expected in my document. Minimal documents work correctly but my complex handbook document has been affected. What other commands might cause \setupwhitespace to malfunction. \setupwhitespace[small] does not appear to work. It seems to give the same result as medium. none gives none, 3pt does not give 3pt but instead prints 3pt as though it was text, big does give slightly bigger than medium but not as much as it should. Hello there, I am starting to move away from LaTeX to ConTeXt and was wondering if some ConTeXt users have written scripts to convert LaTeX documents to ConTeXt documents. Or perhaps just partial conversions, for example from a LaTeX tabular environment to a ConTeXt table. Does anyone have a working TeX installation on OSX where the \setupbodyfont[pos] command works? I cannot get it to work, I tried installating the fonts manually using the texfont command which did not work. I also tried \usetypescript[berry][8a] and other commands wich were mentioned in the maillist archive, but to no avail. I have the impression problems are caused by Context wanting EC encoded files which were dropped from the teTeX distribution some time ago. As I am no font expert I would appreciate some help. Embedded movies

Hi, I somehow completely fail to embed successfully a movie into a pdf. I tried to test-view http://www/pragma-ade.com/general/uptodate/up-003-s.pdf but this failed with: "texwork.mov" cannot be found. Would you like to choose a replacement file? Then I tried \externalfigure[elf-iso.avi][height=\textheight, width=\textheight, preview=no, repeat=yes] The problem I have is that I have neither a working AVI file (the one I created with mencoder doesn't work with Quicktime or Windows Media Player due to the codec used) nor a .mov file. Windows Media player is able to play a MPEG file with the extention .avi, but Acrobat doesn't like it :-( Moreover Acrobat Reader is not able to create useful error message :-( Thus: Is it in principle possible to embed *.mpg files? This would save me a lot of work. (Somehow I failed to do so when modifying core-fig.tex) Otherwise, what is the best way to proceed? Tobias PS: Rdesktop is a nice way to access Windows from Linux :-) but Adobe could support movies in PDFs under Linux :-(

Gridsetting

Hi, I'm new to this list and have quite a lot of questions. (Questions of course I can not answer after reading the contributions to the list.) I'll start with three of them in individual threads. Its funny that the ability to set gridfitting text, is often characterized as something that belongs in the domain of wordprocessors or DTP programs. For me it is an essential feature of typesetting since my publisher demands it---for good reasons: When printing on thin paper (paperback) one would see the lines of the backside of the paper inbetween the lines of its frontside---destroying a good contrast of the text. Beside of its general structure the announced ability to set to grid (dt.: Registerhaltig) is one of reasons for me to get into Context. But after a while of testing I'm not sure whether Context does what I want it to do. Here are my expectations. Hi, First: Is there a nice way to setup the fontcolour? Currently I encapsulate the whole document with a startcolor/stopcolor block. Second: I want to build up a slide in steps: | first | | first | | first | | | ==[click]=> | second | =[click]=> | second | | | | | | third | If I recall correctly I've seen one implementation for this (in ConTeXt) using JavaScript (and field stacks), but I cannot find anything regarding this. The other possibility (used by all LaTeX packages I'm aware of) is to produce multiple pages: one per step. Does anyone know by heart where the JS method is burried in ConTeXt? Tobias

In some of the sample texts that come with Context (Zapf etc.) the double bar is used to indicate a hyphen, perhaps an unbreakable hyphen. In pdftex it translated to an em? dash instead. Is this combination documented somewhere? || -- John Culleton Able Typesetters and Indexers

No MP graphics after installation under MikTeX

Dear ConTeXt users, I tried to (re)install ConTeXt under MikTeX in the following way, but a simple test file with a flowchart and a MP graphic gave me the texts of the flowchart only. Can anybody give me advice? Thank you in advance, Sytse Knypstra These are the steps I took: 0. Perl has already been installed; MS-DOS path contains a.o. d:\perl\bin;c:\localtexmf\context\perltk;c:\texmf\miktex\bin 1. Remove old MikTeX through the Control Panel. Delete old localtexmf and texmf directories 2. Install MikTeX 2.2 (large). The localtexmf and texmf trees are generated. 3. Remove ConTeXt files through the MikTeX Package Manager. 4. Unzip cont-tmf.zip in c:\localtexmf 5. Unzip runperl.zip in c:\localtexmf\context\perltk 6. Copy texexec.rme to texexec.ini Add a % before: set TeXShell to tetex Uncomment: % set TeXShell to miktex 7. Copy runperl.exe to texexec.exe, fdf2tan.exe, fdf2tex.exe, makempy.exe, mptopdf.exe, texfind.exe, texfont.exe, texshow.exe, texutil.exe 9. Open a MS-DOS window and go to directory c:\localtexmf\context\perltk. Run texexec --verbose. This gives an overview of the settings. 10. In the file pdftex.cfg in the directory c:\texmf\pdftex\config I add: map +context.map 11. In the directory c:\localtexmf\tex\context\user copy the file cont-sys.rme to cont-sys.tex and add: \setupoutput [pdftex] \recycleMPslotstrue Uncomment the following lines: \runMPgraphicstrue and \runMPTEXgraphicstrue Now the following lines are active: \unprotect \setupoutput [pdftex] \runMPgraphicstrue \runMPTEXgraphicstrue \recycleMPslotstrue \useMETAFUNformattrue \newprettytrue \protectbufferstrue \protect \endinput 12. Thanks to advanced Input Method Editors, rare and 'obscure' characters get used even more, since they can easily be accessed. So JIS X 0212 support in ConTeXt would cool to have. It's also quite interesting to see how JIS X 0212 gets encoded. It's part of EUC-JP CodeSet 3. If an implementation of Japanese in ConTeXt supports EUC-JP, and needs to support JIS X 0212, we need to have a ConTeXt switching mechanism to change from a two-byte encoding (EUC-JP CodeSet 0,1 and 2 for JIS X 0201 and 0208 support) to a three-byte encoding (EUC-JP CodeSet 3 for JIS X 0212). This could be an interesting challenge to implement, but I don't see a reason why it shouldn't be possible. Naturally, UTF-8 supports everything we'll ever going to need! :-) My best, Tim

Writing Japanese using ConTeXt

Hello all, This is my first message to the list. I've been using ConTeXt for a few months now, and so far it does everything I want to do with it, plus much and much more! Recently, I've made the 'unwise' decision to start studying Japanese next year, and of course I want to keep on using ConTeXt to write my school papers. I am already able to create Japanese documents using a terrific Japanese TeX distribution (w32tex) and pLaTeX, but everyone on this mailinglists knows that LaTeX is kinda 'weird' (to put it mildly) when you are used to the beauty that is ConTexT! :-) So I decided to find a way to write Japanese in ConTeXt. First I tried using the eOmega/ConTeXt combination since I have some great OTPs for it, but soon found out that Omega is still "the TeX of the future", in other words, not the "TeX of today" and extremely unstable. Then I decided to try ConTeXt's UTF-8 support. I created the following test file: -------------- \chardef\utfunihashmode=1 \setupunicodefont [japanese] [scale=1.0] \definefontsynonym [JapaneseMinchoRegular][cyberb] \defineunicodefont [Mincho][JapaneseMincho][japanese] \Mincho \enableregime[utf] \starttext ... <Imagine a bunch of UTF-8 encoded Japanese characters here> ... \stoptext -------------- cyberb is the Unicode font cyberbit.ttf which I installed using ttf2tfm: ttf2tfm cyberbit.ttf cyberb@Unicode@ For output I use dvipdfmx with the following line added to the map file: cyberb@Unicode@ Identity-H :0:cyberbit.ttf Well, to my big surprise, it worked! I saw the characters without a problem. Using the 'scale' option of \setupunicodefont I could also change the size of the characters. Great! But since there are usually no spaces in a Japanese sentence, there is no line breaking. And as you can imagine, line breaking is a useful feature to have! :-) I imagined that the line breaking problem is also happening when someone wants to write Chinese, so I decided to take a look in ConTeXt's Chinese module to see how it is handled there. I saw that the Chinese module adds an interglyph space after a character, which is breakable by TeX. This happens in a macro that is (indirectly) called using \setupunicodefont and the 'command' option. I decided to try the same in my test file. But first, I checked to see if using the 'command' option in \setupunicodefont actually worked: I added the following macro: \def\HandleJapaneseGlyph {\insertunicodeglyph} And changed my \setupunicodefont into: \setupunicodefont [japanese] [scale=1.0, command=\HandleJapaneseGlyph] Well, I still get Japanese characters like normal. I imagined that if I removed \insertunicodeglyph from my macro, I wouldn't get to see them. But this is not the case. I found out that I can do anything in my macro, but it doesn't have an effect on the Japanese characters. They still get printed. I also found out that I can even use command=\whateveryoulike and it still wouldn't complain that such a macro doesn't exist. I get the feeling that the command option is completely ignored. Apparently, my idea isn't going to work. :-( To make a long story even longer, I would like to know why it doesn't work, or what I should do in order to make it work. What is the correct method to divert the Unicode character output to another macro so that I can add a breakable space after each character? Well, I've been using ConTeXt for only a few months now, so maybe the complexity of this is way over my head. At least it kept me busy! But on the other hand, I don't think writing Japanese is much more different than writing Chinese. It must be possible to achieve without much trouble or reinventing the wheel. destinations in PDF

I missed the support in context, to define exact destination (page 553 [533], PDF Reference 1.5 PD) in interactive documents. The defined types lack the support for destinations, that don't lie on the top of a page. An example to make it clear... You have made a PDF document with bookmarks, the focus is set to width for good readability. Now you press a bookmark for a section and Acroreader opens the correct page. But hey, where is the section? If it starts at the lower quarter of the page, it isn't visible at all. So I tried to change this behaviour, playing around with bookmarks (as one fuction using destinations). As I'm no TeX wizzard, the result is very limited. But I hope it's enough to show that there are more or less good reasons for an extension of destinations in context. Regards, Peter

Hello there, I love working with ConTeXt, and never had to think about it much since SuSE makes it realy easy ... but now I switched to Debian, and all of a sudden have to face some trouble :-)) I run Debian Woody 3.01r and if I call texexec --make de it says "warning : texexec.ini not found; try 'texexec --verbose' TeXExec 2.5 -ConTeXt / PRAGMA ADE 1997 - 2001 locating ini file : not found by kpsewhich locating ini file : not found by searching locating ini file : no environment variable set locating ini file : not found in own path so, what am I going to do? I found "texexec" in /usr/share/texmf/context/config ... am I to make a link? Let's say to /home/user/texmf? Thanks in advance ray

Hi, So I've got to use this modern XML thingy.. ;-) I tried to set up ConTeXt to typeset processed XML data. What goes wrong is the \XMLpar which sometimes gives default value instead of the real one. Tables, footnotes and references

Hi, I want to make a table with some footnotes belonging to that table. As an extra, one of the footnotes needs to be referenced to multiple times: bla bla bla* bla bla bla* bla bla bla *blabla Questions: - which of the table formatting commands in ConTeXt is most suitable for this? - Can I just use a footnote command to create footnotes for a table (or do I need to do something special?) - How do I reference a footnote (or get the symbol for a specific footnote)? handling & compound||words

Hi folks. I've been wondering if I've been missing something here. When I activate hanging, the hyphens (or whatever the hyphenmark is set to) in compound||words refuse to hang. When that happens, it makes the margin look worse than if there were no hanging. Is it not implemented yet? [using pdfeTeX (Web2C 7.3.7x) 3.14159-1.00b-pretest-20020211-2.1] Here's an example with a bit of nonsense that pretty much forces the issue: \setupfontsynonym[cmr10][handling=pure] \setupfontsynonym[Serif][handling=pure] \setupfonthandling[normal][left=1,right=1] \usetypescript[cmr] \setupbodyfont[10pt] % tried this and many variations: \setuphyphenmark[sign=-] \setupalign[hanging] \starttext \dorecurse{3}{ I find the very thought of it appalling. Hi ConTeXtnicians, When I use \startitemize[n,packed,columns,three] The list is produced in a nicely packed three column format, however when the n is left out for bullets the three columns become one. \startitemize[n,packed,columns,three] Is this the intended operation? TIA -- Nigel

As can be seen from the document, I still have font def problems. Without the redefinition of the monospace font, I keep getting a "Font ectt1000 at size 645 not found". Hello, above \starttext I have define the bodyfont to \setupbodyfont[11pt]. It works fine. The headings I define in the following way (also above \starttext): \setuphead[chapter][alternative=inmargin,letter={\switchtobodyfont[16pt,ss]\ bf}] \setuphead[section][alternative=inmargin,letter={\switchtobodyfont[14pt,ss]\ bf}] \setuphead[subsection][alternative=inmargin,letter={\switchtobodyfont[12pt,s s]\bf}] When I use <<texexec --pdf myfile>> I get many messages that means: it would be better to define the bodyfont global. How can I do that? Right-aligning blocks of text

Gents I'm a newbie with Tex and ConTeXt but enjoying myself so far. Everything is working very smoothly except for one single issue; I want to right-align a block of text, e.g. have the text left-aligned but the block right aligned. An ascii example would be; | | | Some text | | More text | | Even more text | I've tried various context structures .. frames etc and I've also tried \hboxes and \vboxes but the best I can do is to specify the distance between the text and the right margin. I want something that will stretch to keep all the text on the page with just the longest line hitting touching the right margin. I need this 'box' to contain several paragraphs. References not working when arranging pages

Hello! When I use \setuparranging I can't get the references to work. I use the latest beta. If i just comment the line with \setuparranging it works perfectly. Have I missed something? Bug in Enumerations

There is a bug in enumerations' implementation. The following example is nearly literally taken from english ConTeXt manual (cont-eni.pdf, p. 224) See this example: \defineenumeration[step] [location=left,text={},width=2em] \setupenumerations[step] [headstyle=bold] \setupenumerations[substep][headstyle=slanted] \starttext \step One \par \substep Two \par \stoptext The headstyle for substep is bold, just like for step, and not slanted as stated in the manual. Help, please :) /S PS: Hans, are there any chances to get the new beta with backgrounds' recalculation bug fixed? Latest beta is from before BachoTeX ;)

Hi, I want to see active URL in my pdf document in similar way that is used by <a....>....</a> tag in html So I have written \setupinteraction[state=start] then \useexternaldocument [doc:Molik] [http://zskl.zsk.p.lodz.pl/~morawski/local/Praca dyplomowa p. Molika.pdf] [Metody routingu unikastowego] then I try to use \from, \goto; \url and even if I see the link, it is not active then I try: \useURL [Molik] [http://zskl.zsk.p.lodz.pl/~morawski/local/Praca dyplomowa p. Math and Bibliography Problems

Hi, I'm new to context and am having a few problems. When I try to process the following $0 \stackrel{4}{\rightarrow}$ I get ! Undefined control sequence. Is there support for stackrel or is there an alternative. Also, I'm having problems with generating a bibliography with context an bibtex. As bibtex only utilises the .aux file and context does not seem to output one. What is the solution. Thanks Adam

weird " [preference] " appearing with \splitfloat

Hey all, i've a question regarding the context document structuring facility. Maybe you can show me the right direction or show me what i made wrong. I'am currently working on a semester project, whose goal it is to build a CVS/ConTeXt Server accessible via Zope webapplications (an selfmade documentation management system). Our approach is to split the per semster documentation in products and the texts in components. The whole documentation is integrated in a project. Via webfrontend the user will be able to generate either the whole documentation of all semesters (project, including all products) or just one product. We've created a hierarchical directory structure like the following excerpt: CVSROOT/ ReaktorDocs/ Complete/ Makefile ReaktorDocs.tex (projectfile) path.tex (included by ReactorDocs.tex) products.tex (included by ReactorDocs.tex) Semester01/ Documentation/ Makefile Semester01.tex (product file) figures/ ... text/ Makefile semester01_txt001.tex (component file) semester01_txt002.tex (component file) Protocols/ ... Semester02/ ... Semester03/ ... Styles/ p-eng-doc-default.tex (environment file) p-eng-prot-default.tex (environment file) ... We've got it working in so far that the user can checkout one modul and gets the Semester directory and the styles directory (of course an cvs issue). The compilation of either one product or the whole project works too, via help of \usepath and tex conditions in every product file, which detects whether the front/back -matters should be omitted (for project compilation) or beeing kept (for product compilation). The only thing i can't figure out, is why the counter for \part and \chapter (probably all sectioning commands used in the products) resets per product. Is there any solution for that problem or a workaround to display an continuous \placecontent in the project scope? thanks in advance, Fabian Doerk

ANNOUNCING: e-Omega 3.14159--1.15--2.1, Release Candidate 1 e-Omega 3.14159--1.15--2.1 is now released to the public in its second release candidate version. Pre-built binaries are currently available for the MiKTeX distribution (see www.miktex.org) and the fpTeX distribution (see ftp://ftp.dante.de/pub/fptex/standalone/); the official sources are currently available (via CVS) from the MiKTeX source tree. e-Omega provides all the features available in Omega (except for the SGML/XML handling) and all the features available in e-TeX (except for its multidirectional TeX--XeT capabilities, which have been abandoned in favour of the Omega ones). This release fixes the most outstanding bug in the Omega 1.15 series (the TRIP bug), which also affected the previous release (RC0) of e- Omega. Given that RC0 has already been tested (successfully) in production-use environments, it is my belief that this version should be quite ready for widespread use. XML Processing

Hello all, I'm building an exam using "ExamView Pro" which has, surprisingly, an XML export feature. I'd like to process the exam content into ConTeXt. I've looked at the "Example" file and tried to understand how it all works, but I'm not sure I can. So far, I've been able to process entities and MathML using the mm* and ent as options for --xmlfilter (texexec --pdf --xmlfilter=mml,mmp,mmc,ent file.xml) but I can't even get <b> to work as planned with any of the xtag-* files. I'm guessing I need to use the x-contml.tex file, but I don't know why. Then, I'll probably need some guidance to have everything work. The ExamView XML format uses attributes but I'd be happy with just getting the basic format straight. What makes it somewhat harder is that I don't have so much experience with ConTeXt anyway. So, I'd appreciate any help. Here's the basic structure of the data I want to process: <question> <text></text> <choices> <choice></choice> </choices> <answer></answer> <info> <difficulty></difficulty> <reference></reference> <text-objective></text-objective> </info> </question> In LaTeX terminology (sorry!) what I want is to have all the question texts as items in an "enumerate" and answer choices in an alphabetical enumerate for each question. Doesn't sound too hard. In fact, I guess I could probably do a find and replace... Thanks in advance for your help.

Metafun error

Just got back into Metafun. I used the example program from page 5 of the manual: ------------------------------------------ \setupcolors[state=start] \starttext \startuseMPgraphic{dummy} fill fullcircle scaled 5cm withcolor red; \stopuseMPgraphic \useMPgraphic{dummy} \stoptext ------------------------------------------ When I run texexec test.tex I get: ----------------------------- This is MetaPost, Version 0.641 (Web2C 7.3.7x) (test-mpgraph.mp >> spotcolors >> true ! Equation cannot be performed (numeric=boolean). <to be read again> ; l.23 spotcolors := true ; --------------------------- on the second pass. If I eliminate the red color it still doesn't work. The file test-mpgraph.mp contains these lines which look ok: cmykcolors := true ; spotcolors := true ; color OverlayColor, OverlayLineColor ; If I just generate the graphic with texexec --mptex test.tex that works OK. I'd like to join two point (E1 and E2) having the same ypart (ypart(E1)=ypart(E2)) with the TeX underbrace sign. (not testet yet!) Problems: 1. The bodyfont is 12pt per default, so pdftex uses bu1200.tfm to calculate the text. The chaptertitle is then in 20.74pt, but pdftex doesn't use the existing font bu2074.tfm, but scales the bodyfont by a factor of 1.728. As a result, mktexpk calculates the pk files bu1200.600pk and bu1200.1037pk, and not bu1200.600pk and bu2074.600pk. I tried to include the commentet two lines in the typescript, because I always found written sizes in context with one digit behind the point, but the result is negativ too. 2. Frames kill indenting of paragraphs

I am trying to put frames around some of my enumerations (which I use to typeset theorems, lemmas, etc.), but when I put a frame around the enumeration, the indenting of the paragraphs disappears. Line Tables problem

I tried to check the new line-table module for ConTeXt and for a rough start, the demo present in core-ltb.tex which start with: \setuplinetable[n=6,m={2,2,2},regels=25] \setuplinetable[c][1][width=2cm,background=color,backgroundcolor=red] \setuplinetable[c][4][width=3cm,background=color,backgroundcolor=yellow] .. doesn't work. m-bib and numeric references

Hi, I use the bibliography module for my references, and I have trouble setting it up like I want it. 1) I want to use numeric references, like [1] in the text. I'm getting a nice numbered list, but no numbers in the text, just [??]. What do I do wrong, according to the docs this should work. Wrong pagebreak in column environment

Dear all, I'm posting my unsolvable problem, there is a minimal example with a wrong pagebreak between Frame 3 and Frame 4 in the same column environment. I seek a solution without manual intervention (for example without \page[yes,force]). I want to make a script generated layout. Please, let me know, if anybody has an idea. Thanks! Makempy example rotated

I copied the "E=mc^2" example from the Makempy manual and had an unusual result. The text is rotated by -90 degrees! I tried reducing the scale factor to 5 but it still comes out that way. Is this a FAQ or have I managed to screw something up? -- John Culleton Able Typesetters and Indexers

News for MikTeX hash size limit ?

Hi Giuseppe, Do you have any news for the hash-size limit in MikteX ? There were some update recently but it still doesn't compile my files (see previous mails 2003-04-08). I tried to install TeXlive, and the resulting installation was not very "clean". But my files were compiled. As I should finish to write my thesis in roughtly two months from now, do you think I should forget MikTeX and go on with TeXlive ? Thanks a lot, Seb.
