Hi everybody, I try to draw several metapost page backgrounds (code found at http://melusine.eu.org/syracuse/poulecl/divers/papiers/ ) for manual sketchs on A4 paper. Obviously, it does'nt work, and I don't know why. TIA for any answers. space between last bodytext line and blackrule

Hi, in a layout with footnotes at the bottom of the page it happens sometime that the last bodytext line is moved to a new page although it *looks* as there would be enough space between the last bodytext line and the footnote's "blackrule". When printing the page and using the ruler you may find out that only 0.5mm is missing ... I know that there is a way to control the space between the blackrule and the first footnote's line: \def\MyRule {\blackrule[width=3cm,height=1mm] \vskip.5cm}% here this space is 0.5cm But how do I control the space between the *last bodytext line* and the blackrule?? rotate bug?

Hi, This morning I used \rotate to correct some slightly sloped graphics and noticed a weird behavior. In case of the rotation angle interval (-1,0) the negative sign is simply ignored, so the rotation goes to the opposite direction. Donno if negative values for the rotation angle are allowed (they normally work). But it's easier to handle it this way (sign for direction of rotation). @Wolfgang: as workaround, only use positive values or add -360 ;) (and sorry for my wrong interpretation of your table mail) @Taco: are you still collecting the ConTeXt bugs? modifying bib style files

Hi to all, I'm tweaking with bib module. I saw that there are different possible style E.g. apa here: \setuppublications[alternative=apa,criterium=all] I'm not satisfied because I need Italian names (e.g. pag. instead of pages and so on) and plus the scientific bib style are typically different from the ones used in humanities. What have I to do to create a style file? My idea was to take one of the files indicated by Tacos' manual and modify it. If so, and then? typesetting a bibtex file

I have a biblio in bibtex format. I'd like to have it typeset by ConTeXt as a complete document, not as a consequence of refs in text (i.e. a need to have a biblio file) How can it be done? TOC: Continous chapter numbering

Hi again all, I'm plunging deep into ConTeXt nowadays so I have a few more questions in store, and here's one below. But I have to repeat, ConTeXt is an amazing thing for which I'm truly grateful. I'm currently using it to typeset a complex etymological dictionary at my job, and my doctoral dissertation as well, and I have absolutely *no* idea what I would do without it (what, MS Word? perish the thought!)! So, right now I'm exploring the table of content possibilities. I was wondering if it was possible to use a continuous chapter numbering throughout a whole document, across several parts. So, for example, I'd have chapters 1, 2, 3, 4 in part 1, and chapters 5, 6, 7, 8 in part 2, and so on. Thanks again! Jeff

Some update woes on Linux

Hi all, After searching the archives and reading the wikis, I'm still at loss on this one. :( I installed TexLive 2007 on Ubuntu Gutsy through the repository package. All went well. However, given that I have to use XeTeX and that the ConTeXt that was installed with the package dates from May 2007, which is between January and 08.29, to be sure everything was okay I updated ConTeXt. I did it manually because ctxtools didn't work. A problem with the paths. First red flag, but I went on manually. I got the newest cont-tmf.zip and unzipped it in /usr/share/texmf and regenerated the formats by doing: texexec --make --all To check I had the correct version, I ran, on the commandline, these two: texexec --check and: ctxtools --contextversion Both gave me 2007.09.28 16:52, which seems quite correct. However, when I try to compile a document (with the --xtx option), I get the following error: ConTeXt ver: 2007.04.17 12:51 MKII fmt: 2007.11.5 int: english/english language : language en is active system : cont-new loaded (/usr/share/texmf/tex/context/base/cont-new.tex FatalError : Your format does not match the base files! FormatVersion : 2007.04.17 12:51 MKII FilesVersion : 2007.09.28 16:52 Clearly, there is something I must do that I don't know about or that I haven't found anywhere. Anyone can help? Presentation interaction list

Hi, Forgive me if this is a double post, it didn't seem to get through the first time. I'm writing a presentation where each slide has an interaction list of chapters on the side. There are two things I can't figure out: 1. How to stop the list appearing outside of a part. (Is there a non-documented argument to `criterium'?) 2. How to have the current chapter highlighted on all slides within that chapter. (It's highlighted fine on the first slide of a chapter, but not on subsequent slides). Are these possible? Hello, I started playing around with ConTeXt/LuaTeX and have a question here wich is related to a pet project of mine: is it possible to tell Mark IV something like this > texmfstart texexec --lua --environments=myfile.tex someotherfile.zip where 'myfile.tex' should contain a lua routine which would unzip 'someotherfile.zip' to /tmp and call LuaConTeXt on a file actually contained in the archive (among others)? While I'm sure this can be done in Lua, I wonder whether somebody can point me at how to access the names of files to be processed ('someotherfile.zip') from the running process ... Not sure whether I can make myself understood here ... please ask if I'm not making sense, Joh

Hi all, I'm pretty much a new user to ConTeXt and actually any form of TeX, so forgive me if my question sounds ignorant. Is there any way to format editor's symbols (like those used for demonstration in grammatical textbooks) in a block of text using ConTeXt or LaTeX (preferably with the former)? Using SciTE for both, ConTeXt and LaTeX, at the same time?

Dear all, please excuse me if my question is grossly off-topic. I am relatively new to ConTeXt, coming from LaTeX. I fell in love with SciTE the moment I first tried it, and I'm using it with Hans' set of .properties files that came with ConTeXt. I would love to have different sets of tool-menues for both, say "go" opens a .pdf for ConTeXt, but a .dvi for LaTeX. I think the best approach would be to get at the %interface-variable that determines the highlighting. Now, the default setting is lexer.tex.interface.default=0 (at which I can get), but I cannot seem to get at lexer.tex.interface to see what flavour of TeX Scite has recognized. You can use it to convert markdown to context. I had been looking for this for a while, when multiple formats are needed. Write in markdown and generate html or context. table layout

Hi, I try currently to write a table with a repeated header on all pages and rules above and below the header and another rule below the table on all pages. I tried this now with all tables in ConTeXt but I can't the desired result from any of them. Tabulate has problems with rule below the header and did not support repeated footers. TaBlE has problems with the spacing of his rows below the header and at the bottom of the tables, it has also a problem with the spacing from the rule at the bottom. Natural Tables allow me to put a rule above and below the header but I'm unable to get rule at last row on every page, the "last" key for rows use always the last row of the hole table. I played also a little bit with textbackground but I have a few problems with the results, the background has always the width of the current textwidth and it takes always the topskip into account. Font sizes using Chinese module

Hello all. I hope this is quite a simple question. I'm using the Chinese module, with the font definitions in font-chi.tex, to typeset UTF-8 content. I can happily use the default sizes a, b, c, d and x, xx, xxx - so \bfd produces large bold, and \tfx produces small normal weight text. But I really need to be able to do the equivalent of \definedfont[Bold at 48pt]. Unfortunately this doesn't work - it produces normal text size and weight. Unfortunately it isn't easy to post an example, because you need UTF-8 content, and you need the fonts set up for Chinese (which I believe ConTeXt Live doesn't currently have). So I'm hoping that someone familiar with the workings of font-chi.tex can tell me how to get specific point sizes of specific fonts. Is there a unicode font equivalent of \definedfont? Or a way of adding an e and f size definition to the default set? Any help would be really appreciated, thanks. Duncan

Hi, I am entirely new to Tex and Context. I installed the stand alone mswin context distro and manage to typeset Dutch texts without any problems, using the manuals. I also need to typeset Russian texts, however, and I was wondering if there exists a painless, 'out of the box', way to make Context understand Russian (and not transliterating everything), or is it necessary to install additional fonts? The wikipage on the contextgarden site on Russian doesn't really give any positive results, and browsing the mailinglist archives neither. Thanks, Klaus Gena

Flow charts forgetting text

Hi, Something is broken in flowcharts. If I typeset the same flowchart twice, the comments are missing from the second chart. It is my intention to place a list inside an itemize, and therefore prepend a \item before every list item. Deleting temporary files with metapost

Hi, I'm using: texexec --purgeall my_file.tex to have temporary files deleted after processing. However, when I use metafun (using \startuseMPgraphics etc.) a single file is left, with extension '.mp.keep'. Is it possible to ask Context not to leave even that file? Thanks, Maurício

Dear Mojca, Thank you for the reply. As you did, I send my problem to the list. I think that I am a problem maker. I wonder why the output of XeTeX+ConTeXt was changed after the upgrade to Leopard. I didn't change anything in TeX system. I just upgraded the OSX. But nicely working XeTeX+ConTeXt had a problem with the korean commercial fonts.(no korean letters were appeared.) I installed TeXlive using i-installer(gwTeX) with Mac OSX Leopard, Latest stable ConTeXt, XeTeX 0.996 I made a short test file and a typescript file for the test. I have tested in several ways. 1. In XeTeX, everything is OK. Korean letters and greek capitals are appeared well. I thinkt that it used xdv2pdf. This is XeTeXk, Version 3.141592-2.2-0.996 (Web2C 7.5.6) file:line:error style messages enabled. entering extended mode (./test-font.tex [1] ) (see the transcript file for additional information) Mon Nov 5 16:56:15 graph.ssu.ac.kr xdv2pdf[21489] <Error>: WARNING: Type1 font data returned by OFAStreamPSDownload isn't in the correct format required by the Adobe Type 1Font Format specification. ... Output written on test-font.pdf (1 page). Transcript written on test-font.log. after adding \starttext and \stoptext 2. In XeTeX+ConTeXt, no ouput because of the korean commercial font. [1 ** NOTICE: This document contains a `Preview & Print only' licensed font ** ] ** ERROR ** CFF: Invalid character. Output file removed. Output written on test-font.pdf (1 page). I used some commercial fonts but they are freely distributed as demo at the following site: "www.softmagaic.co.kr " After connecting it, you can see "otf sm font" in the third rectangle at the right side of the frame. two questions

Hi all, Recently, I had a problem using XeTeX+ConTeXt after the upgrade to Leopard. You may read my mails to the list already. Let me describe it in short. XeTeX and XeLaTeX worked well. But in the output via XeTeX+ConTeXt, all korean letters are shown as blank or as the series of squares([s6] mode)when I set mainfont using some of the commercial fonts. All the files were worked OK before the upgrade. I'd like to you two things. 1. Is it possible to use xdv2pdf to produce pdf file using the command "texmfstart texexec"? 2. How to update xetex and xdvipdfmx? I downloaded latest file of them from "minimal.context.wiki". I replaced the xetex and xdvipdfmx in the folder /usr/texbin/ with the latest files, but it made another lm font error. I am using Mac with OSX Leopard, TeXlive 2007(gwTeX). Hi to all, I' ve started playing with xml --> context. I've read the docs but even if I am able to do some very basic operation I'm in troubles doing my first real experiment. I've already generated a book from the collection of html help files of the SuperCollider language using a cumbersome python script. But I was guessing that probably using xml mapping would make my life easier. After many years as a LaTeX user I'm attempting to switch over to ConTeXt. I recently upgraded my operating system to Ubuntu 7.10 (on an AMD64 machine) and got the TeXLive and ConTeXt packages from the Ubuntu repositories. I tried compiling a very simple document: \starttext Hello this is \ConTeXt. \stoptext using the command: texexec simple.tex and got the following output on my terminal: TeXExec | processing document 'simple.tex' TeXExec | no ctx file found TeXExec | tex processing method: context TeXExec | TeX run 1 TeXExec | writing option file simple.top TeXExec | using randomseed 898 TeXExec | tex engine: pdftex TeXExec | tex format: cont-en This is pdfTeXk, Version 3.141592-1.40.3 (Web2C 7.5.6) %$-line parsing enabled. (/usr/share/texmf/web2c/natural.tcx) ---! cont-en.fmt was written by pdfetex (Fatal format file error; I'm stymied) TeXExec | runtime: 0.177424 Clearly something is not working properly and I suspect the incompatibility between This is pdfTeXk... and ---! cont-en.fmt was written by pdfetex is the source of all trouble here. Screen not wanted

Searching in the sources did not reveal enough to spot a macro putting it there. The strange thing is that this happens in both the TeXShop previewer and in Apple's Preview application but not in the Adobe version 8.1 reader, GraphicConverter and Safari (I am working on MacOSX 10.4.10). Does someone know its origin? Does it occur on other PC types as well or is it typical for MacOSX? Or is it something in the pdf that shows up under certain circumstances? Hans van der Meer

Problems with diagrams

Does anyone have any suggestions on processing docs with many commutative diagrams in ConTeXt. Depending on the method (I have used xypic and dcpic) I can do between 6 and 8 diagrams in a doc before ConTeXt crashes reporting pdftex: Assertion failed, and Window reporting and access error. I am running MikTeX under Windows 2000. It looks like memory problems but I would like to be sure. I have not been able to find a system requirements for ConTeXt, Also, in the process of trying to work around this difficulty I have noted that ConTeXt is able to run the diagram making plain tex macros in eplain and taylor. I have downloaded the latest Notepad++ and ConTeXt settings as suggested by Professor Hamid and I'm enjoying the experience of using them! However, I do not really like the colour scheme and tried to alter the background colours by editing "Application Data/Notepad++/UserDefineLang.xml", shutting down Notepad++ and starting up again (via Npp.bat), but no change. I also tried editing the "tex" entry in "Application Data/Notepad++/stylers.xml", but no joy. I tried going to menu item Settings - Style Configurator, but Context isn't in the list of languages. How can I alter the default colour settings for ConTeXt, please? Richard Stephens

You can also try to upgrade to a newer version of XeTeX and xdvipdfmx (backup the old version before doing so) from http://minimals.contextgarden.net/bin/xetex/osx-intel/bin/, although this won't solve your exact problems. Make sure that you're using the latest stable version of ConTeXt (2007.09.28). The problems with \font command need to be reported to the XeTeX mailig list (name the fonts and where you got them from), for the ConTeXt-related problems, attach a miniminal example together with your typescripts. As it turned out Taco's suggestion of an old format was right on and Aditya's reassurance that the Ubuntu repositories were not at fault I found some old format files in my home directory that TexExec was seeing before finding the correct ones in the texmf tree. OK, so far I've been reluctant, but from what I saw so far, I think you can call me a new ConTeXt user or more accurately a noobie. I think I figured out how to tweak Kile into being usable (not perfect yet though) as a ConTeXt editor ...kudos to the devs who put so many options to tweak into Kile and to Michael Krauss for the Kate highlighting to make this possible. Which ConTeXt editor do you use?

Hullo, I've just learnt enough LaTeX to start writing when Mojca convinced me to try out ConTeXt. So far, I think I like it, but have a few beginner's problems with it. The first one being, which editor to use? So far I've been using Kile for LaTeX and KBib for BibTeX, but Kile doesn't support (yet) ConTeXt syntax, which is a bit different from the LaTeX one. Could anyone suggest a good ConTeXt-aware editor for Linux? Kate ConTeXt highlighting

Sweet, I didn't exactly find a full editor with an environment, but at least a syntax highliting in Kate (a nice advanced text editor for KDE (so far still Linux-only)). Also a Kate dev (he also pointed me to the file) asked if someone could test this syntax highliting and send a short evaluation to kwrite-devel(a)kde.org for the devs to decide if it sounds good enough to be included in the Kate package itself to be available to all without searching the net. I would/will do it myself, but I'm affraid it will take me too much time to even learn enough ConTeXt to evaluate it properly and will thus miss the next release. One nice feature is that from any text selection (such as a control sequence) you may do a ConTeXt Wiki search from the RUN menu or ALT-F2. In addition there is Google and Wikipedia search. Also, I have included the wonderful Explorer plugin. Most of the Scite ConTeXt commands are included (same shortcuts), in both RUN and script versions (for the console F6). Npp is one of the most powerful and useful text editors around. For windows users (you can also use it under wine) wanting a more modern interface with loads of included features (see especially the TextFX menu), it deserves a close look. I hope that someone will wikify this under the Text-Editor page. Enjoy! project structure and dissertations

I'm unsure about an aspect of The ConTeXt Way and its application to my current situation: typesetting a dissertation, namely: how can I take advantage of project sttructure? It seems natural to regard the dissertation as a project and the chapters as products (which sounds strange to my mind, in this case). But then I have no idea what would correspond to components; it seems like excessive, unnecessary structuring to regard sections of chapters as components. And if sections aren't components, I don't know what they would be. Earlier messages on this mailing list suggest that projects aren't supposed to be compiled; only components and products are supposed to be compiled. This suggests that the whole dissertation not be a project; clearly I would want to compile the whole dissertation. Another approach would be to skip projects and stick with just products and components. In this case, the whole dissertation would be a product (which sounds right to me), and chapters would be components. But then, if I follow that route, how would the logical structure interact with the "typographical structure" (what is called "meta-structure" in the ConTeXt manual)? I want to say something like \startfrontmatter \chapter{Preface} \stopfrontmatter \startbodymatter \chapter{Introduction} \stopbodymatter \startappendices \chapter{Complex Proof that was Skipped} \stopappendices \startbackmatter \chapter{Colofon} \stopbackmatter in dissertation.tex, to indicate the typographical/meta structure. But then where would the \component commands go? Would it look something like this: \startproductproduct dissertation \startfrontmatter \chapter{Preface} \component{Preface} \stopbodymatter ... or would I somehow be able to refer to the whole text of the preface and do something like \startproduct dissertation \component preface \chapter{Preface} \getbuffer{buf:preface} \startfrontmatter ... with the whole text of the preface in a buffer? The Context command \inleft is almost comparable to a similar facility in Framemaker with this exception: Framemaker left justifies multiple lines in this situation (called a sidehead) whereas \inleft right justifies them. natural table splitting problems

Thanks Peter for the pointer to the multipage table in the wiki. I don't know how I overlooked that example. However, I was still able to duplicate the problem with this sample table by including a page full of text before the table (see below). If the dorecurse is set to 62 or 63, the contents slightly overflow the first page text area and only the first row of the table is rendered on the second page. If dorecurse on blah is performed 61 or 64 times, the table is rendered properly. Any thoughts? In our XML->ConTeXt->PDF workflow, we've encountered a few intermittent problems when using split natural tables. I'm not able to post the original documents in which the problems are manifesting, but below is a document that reproduces one of the problems. The first page of the document is full of text, pushing a split natural table with five rows and a header to the top of the second page. However, only the first row appears on the second page, and the rest of the table is continued on the third page. I'm using a stock ConTeXt 9/28 distribution, but this problem can also be reproduced on live.contextgarden.net. Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong or help me debug this problem? These natural table bugs are the only thing stopping us from deploying our ConTeXt workflow. Semi-transparent banners for a cover.

A project specifies that for the cover of a brochure there be a photograph as the background (doable in Context), and semi-transparent rectangles across the page highlighting the various strings of text. The rectangles darken but do not completely block out the underlying illustration. It is a layer cake, a photo, with semi-transparent rectangles laid across it, and type within the rectangles. This is a job more easily done in Gimp etc. but my question is, can it be done in Context at all? Pandoc and ConTeXt: Suggestions

Hi John, Enclosed you will find a zip containing test-context.txt (a markdown test file) test-context.tex (output produced by Pandoc) test-context2.txt (a modified file showing more ideal ConTeXt output). In conjuction with odt2txt (which converts to markdown) Pandoc will be extremely useful in converting simple OOo-supported files to ConTeXt for advanced typography and typesetting. In the following comments I identify a few places where Pandoc could do things in a more ConTeXt-ish way. Note also that ConTeXt and LaTeX have very different philosophies: Although one can make ConTeXt imitate LaTeX, that's not generally the most useful way to approach it. Here we run Pandoc without the -s switch, so there is no preamble. In a separate report I will make suggestions on how we can improve the preamble to make it more ConTeXt-ish. I am also cc'ing this to the ConTeXt list in case anyone has any suggestions on improving my comments or other thoughts. I. Headings There are two issues in the way pandoc translates headings into ConTeXt: A. The heading-orders in markdown are not quite in sync with the context headings. In pandoc # => \section ## => \subsection etc. This should be changed to # => \title ## => \subject ### => \subsubject #### => \subsubsubject See also I.B following. B. Don't use \chapter, \section, \subsection, \subsubsection; Use instead \title, \subject, \subsubject, \subsubsubject To explain: Markdown does not support explicit ordered headings: Chapter 1: A Topic Section 1: A Subtopic Section 2: Another Subtopic Chapter 2: Another Topic Section 1: A Subtopic Rather it supports simple headings: A Topic A Subtopic Another Subtopic Another Topic A Subtopic In ConTeXt we use \title, \subject, etc. for unordered headings. II. Quotes A. Inline quotes For eg. “quotation using U201C and U201D” maybe you could translate that to \quotation{...} as well, though I guess “” are not part of markdown syntax so... B. Block Quotes There are three issues: i) When run in fragment mode (no -s switch), all of your defined control sequences, like \start-stopblockquote and \start-\stopltxitem, still need to be placed in the preamble. Note that \start-\stoptext can be nested. So you can place the entire fragment, including your definitions, within in a \start-\stoptext. A -preamble switch would be useful to turn the preamble on and off. ii) There is a \start-stopquotation command in ConTeXt already, but it has the odd feature that it adds doublequotes to the quote block (I'll ask Hans if he can add a setup option to remove them). Your definition is ok; I prefer (and in my own work typically use) something like \definestartstop [blockquote] [before={\startnarrower[2*left,2*right]\blank[big]\noindenting}, after={\stopnarrower\blank[big]}] iii. There is a spurious blank line before \stopblockquote. Indeed, there are spurious spaces before the end of many of your \start-stop constructions, as well as missing blank spaces after those constructions. III. Lists The ConTeXt philosophy of lists calls for a different approach: No need for new, nonstandard constructions (like \startltxitem), no need for \sym; \start-stopitemize is very rich in options. Also, using \start-stopitemize with options [...] is much better because what we want to be able to do is easily edit and configure the results of the pandoc transformation. So if I want to chage bullets to dashes I change \startitemize[1] to \startitemize[2]. For symbols, use the information in Section 10.6, Table 10.1, page 229 of cont-eni.pdf (the ConTeXt manual, available from http://www.pragma-ade.com/) Also note: There should be a blank line after \stopitemize; it will not necessarily create a spurious line in the output. In the preamble the user can define its properties in \setupitemize. By default the following two itemizations will create the same output: ============ Here is some text \startitemize \item Hi! \stopitemize Here is some text Here is some text \startitemize \item Hi! \stopitemize Here is some text ============ It is better to leave the blank space before and after the itemized group. Some specific examples (see my modifictions to pandoc output in test-context-r.tex): A. An unordered list: \startitemize \item One \item Two \item Three \stopitemize B. An ordered list with no paragraphs and no nesting: \startitemize[n] \item One \item Two \item Three \stopitemize C. An ordered list with paragraphs: NOTE THE USE OF \head HERE! \startitemize \head One Here is a paragraph. \head Two And another. \head Three And yet another. \stopitemize Here is a post paragraph sentence (with a blank space after \stopitemize). D. An ordered list with nesting and paragraphs: The output seems buggy; I don't get level-2 paragraphs. Maybe my markdown syntax is wrong? =================================== There's more in test-context-r.tex. Note that nested ordered list are defined for the document in the preamble, for example: \setupitemize[1][symbol=n] [indentnext=no] \setupitemize[2][symbol=A][indentnext=no] \setupitemize[3][symbol=R][indentnext=no,after={\blank[small]}] Level 1 will use Arabic numerals, level 2 will use capital letters, level 3 will use roman numerals. Normally a ConTeXt user wants to be keep the structure as general as possible so as to be able to typographically set the full document consistently. So there is no need to exacly mimic the settings of lists, etc; it's much more important to capture the structure as abstractly as possible. IV. Emphasize and Bold If we want to be really precise and do things the ConTeXt way, then we should define a new control sequence like \STRONG and then \let\STRONG=\bf This will complement \em Mixing the structural tag for emphasis with the formal tag \bf, as in {\bf {\em bold italic}} is strange in the TeX way of thinking. Better to have either {\bf {\it bold italic}} or {\STRONG {\em bold italic}} Bold italic is simply {\bi bold italic} btw. A THOUGHT: Maybe the markdown community may want to consider using multiples of `*' for emphasis and using multiples of `_' for italic and bold. From a TeX/typographic point of view this is a huge distinction. But markdown has its own purpose so maybe the distinction is not so important there... V. Footnotes Pandoc output: ==================== This sentence contains a footnote\footnote{Footnote contents }. This sentence contains no footnote. ==================== That blank space is really awful :-) Ideal output: ==================== This sentence contains a footnote \footnote{Footnote contents}. Hi, at the risk of sounding rude or impatient: I'd love to know when new releases of luatex and ConTeXt mkiv can be expected. The latest luatex trunk has some problems (no ligatures, hyphenation flaky) and doesn't work with some of my fonts. Latest ConTeXt beta only works with trunk of luatex. Hans mentioned some fundamental changes in luatex, so I was just wondering. Thanks! Thomas

Hi, I want to make a numbered list as follows *Artikel 1. First artikel *1.1. Text for item 1.1. 1.2. Text for item 1.2 *Artikel 2. Second artikel* 2.1. Text for item 2.1 2.2. Text for item 2.2 etc. I am trying to accomplish this with \setupitemgroup and \defineitemgroup as follows, but the second level start also with Artikel and is indented. Fixed floats and header placement

Hi, I have a small document with a few figures and all of them should be placed where I write them in the document. ConTeXt has the 'force' for placefloat to get this but the key has also many sideeffects. Take the following example, the second headers appears at page 4 but the rest of the page is empty and the figures continue at page 5. Turn off interaction in some TOC levels?

I want interaction at the subsubsection level but not higher. I have turned off line numbers for section and subsection. However both these levels remain interactive. The whole line is blue. I tried interaction=pagenumber, interaction=sectionnumber, interaction=no, interaction=none, and no interaction parameter at all at these levels. Compatiblity option in pdf

I created a short document http://wexfordpress.com/tex/shortlist.pdf using Context and with a clickable TOC and one thumbnail. The thumbnail was created with the Han The Thanh pdftex macro code I mentioned recently. Some users view it fine, others with earlier versions of Acrobat Reader have problems. A friend ftom the InDesign/Distiller world suggests that I recreate the pdf with the compatibility option turned on. Does this suggestion have any meaning in the Context/pdftex world?
