A cases type environment using a right brace?

I'm trying to typeset a small column of numbers with a right brace on the right, and nothing on the left. (Sort of like the opposite to the right hand side of a cases environment). I've tried: \definemathmatrix[group][left={},right={\,\right\} }] \startgroup 10\NR 9\NR 8\NR \stopgroup But this just gives me errors: and the right brace in my group definition is just ignored. So, how can I get a brace which extends to the full height of the column? If I use \definemathmatrix[group][left={},right={\,\rbrace}] This just gives me a small brace, and doesn't extend it vertically. Hi, in this example the question mark nicely becomes part of the command name: \def\OverFull?{\overfullrule30\points} \OverFull? here it does not work at all: \define\OverFull?{\overfullrule30\points} \OverFull? (... but gives "??" instead) As "\define" seems to be more canonical: Does this result mean it is not recommended to use question marks in command names? Steffen

vertical alignment in TOC

Hi all, for an edited volume, entries in the TOC have two lines, title, then author. Is is possible to have the page number aligned to the title, i.e. the first of these lines? highlighting aligned formulas

Hello, Is it possible (using ConTeXt MKII) to put a frame (and/or other highlighters) around an aligned multiline formula, and also around a single line of this equation array? (The equation number should align correctly outside the frame.) \mframed within an alignment seems to refuse the job. Digging the mailinglist brought up a 2006 hint of Hans referring to a \definealigned command which I also could not bring into action. Thanks, Andreas ps Asking as a new user it may be naive, but I still didn't figure out how to uncomment multiple lines (for debugging).

OT: Pdf info

Hello, this question in not straightly related to Context, but Context users may have solved it and Ctx may be used to solve it. I would need to get the following information from .pdf file(s): - number of pages, - common width and height of pages (provided that they are the same; otherwise the dimension can be e.g. zero). The final goal is to use Ctx as a .pdf joining engine - to provide this, I need to know whether the .pdf to be inserted is portrait or landscape oriented, what is its size (so if to be scaled or not) etc. So Lua inside Ctx may be used to get the required .pdf info, if necessary. If an external program was used, it should be non-interactive (command-line oriented), free and working under Windows. Does anyone have any experience with such a task? Kind regards, Lukas -- Ing. How well do ConTeXt (lua)module for other users?

Hello ConTeXist. I have done the module (for context), which is entirely written in Lua (ConTeXt definitions are done through Lua too). I wonder how it can be loaded into ConTeXt file. Have I to use the beginning of the file: \startluacode dofile ("my-module.lua") \stopluacode to loading the module? I would like to use \usemodule [my-module.lua], but there is a problem, that code must be inside \startluacode ... \stopluacode environment. But when I put my luacode into \startluacode ... \stopluacode into my-module.mkiv file, then I have a problem with catcodes inside strings defining by [[ ... ]]. Or must be module consists of two separate files (my-module.lua and my-module.mkiv)? Must I to load the Lua module file (my-module.lua) into ConTeXt module file (my-module.mkiv) by command \ctxlua{dofile("my-module.lua ");} and then load module file (my-module.mkiv) into my user file by command \usemodule[my-module]? Is there something like \useluamodule[....] or \usemodule[anyluaswitch][modulefile] ??? How to proceed in these cases? I find it inappropriate to divide the module into two separate files. Hello there, In the table environment, \HL and \VL have an optional parameter by which you can change their width: \HL[3], \VL[4] for example. However, for a division line \DL, the optional parameter gives the number of columns it spans. How can I change the width of a given division line? Use of \hairline in the header

\start/stopTEXpage resets page layout?

Hello, let's have the following code: ---- \setuplayout[page] \starttext AAA \page \copypages[cow.pdf] BBB \startTEXpage \externalfigure[cow] \stopTEXpage \page CCC \stoptext ---- Texts "AAA" and "BBB" are written from the strict left top corner of the page - page has no header nor backspace. So does the "cow" - it fills one page perfectly. That's OK. But when the text "CCC" is typeset, it seems a "default" layout is restored - see the space up and left, also the header appears; that's unwanted. Hello, this kind of question was discussed once - how to include '#' character to the file name so that \copypages take it? Something like: \copypages[TZ#001.pdf] e.g. by \copypages[\MAKETEXT{TZ#001.pdf}] There was discussion about other "not-so-frequent" chars as well - ! # $ % @ ^ & _ - any evolution? ConTeXt -> LaTeXt -> ODT?

I another thread I talked about my problems with converting my ConTeXt file to an editable format. In principal going the xhtml way seemed best. But yesterday I got talking with someone in the train. He told me that it was possible to convert ConTeXt to LaTeXt and LaTeXt to an ODT file. This could solve my problem. Was this person correct? If yes, how would I do this? -- Cecil Westerhof

Edit a ConTeXt generated document with Adobe Acrobat Professional

Two days ago I already posted about this. But because of a glitch at my side, it became a conversation between me and Hans Hagen. I have almost finished writing documentation with ConTeXt. Now the client also needs to have the possibility to change the document. We are so far that the client will work with Adobe Acrobat. Now I have to prove that they can edit it. My boss has a 'recent' version 8 (latest is X). It does not look very promising to edit a document, but that is at this moment not the biggest problem. When I try to change text, I get: All or part of the selection has no available system font. You cannot add or delete text using the currently selected font. I have added a screenshot of the font properties. Is this a problem because of the old Adobe version, or the used fonts? If the latter, which fonts should I use to circumvent this problem? At the moment I am using: \usetypescript[helvetica] \setupbodyfont[helvetica] because they did not like the default font. -- Cecil Westerhof

Hello, I'm trying to get numbering style like this: A. Chapter A.1 Section I compiled a couple-of-months-old file and I got another result than before (?!). General suggestion: Unit tests for ConText

Hi, during my work with context I wrote a bunch of fewliners mainly to test how to do things. When there change from mkii to mkiv occured many of my mini-tests failed and later with the growing of mkiv restartet to work - some just without adaption.. some with some adjustment to a new syntax. I realize that they have the same functionality like unit-tests - just instead of comparing classes and variables - a pdf-output is visually compared. So I like to suggest to introduce unit tests for context. It would a) increase the quality of context as it makes the testing easier for the developer b) it also would be a great source of minihowtos for learning context. Before I write my technical ideas about this I would like to know what are you thinking about this idea?

Hi, I uploaded a beta: - Project structure related files are now dealt with in lua: it's mostly compatible but somewhat more strict (proper push and pop). In the log file the used structure is summarized. - All writing from lua to tex is now under control of the cld infrastructure. This means that logging is more complete. The speed penalty is neglectable and in some places faster. - There are a couple of fixes related to marks. - There are a couple of fixes (thanks to Wolfgang, who checks all commands as part of the user interface (setups) documentation). - In \asciimode, %% now can be used as traditional tex comment starter. Also, modules and environments are loaded under the normal catcode regime. - Typing gets frontstripped with the number of spaces in front of \stoptyping so that one can have nicely formatted input like: \startitemize \startitem test \starttyping test \stoptyping \stopitem \stopitemize - Entities in xml mode have a slightly different roundtrip treatment now and hopefully Thomas S as well as Hans vd M files still work ok. - Unicode math variants (supported by xits) are supported: \mathematics { \utfchar{"2229} = \utfchar{"2229}\utfchar{"FE00} = \vsone{\utfchar{"2229}} } - Defining commands at the lua end now also handles arg only cases and has better tracing. - Some other other things, like \startlayout[page] ... \stoplayout and whatever I forgot. I need to export my document. For this I use: \setupbackend[export=yes,xhtml=yes,css=yes] I have update my document with start and stop for chapter, section and subsection, but I have one problem. unwanted page break

Dear all, I have a strange output today. Writing a sentences, it makes a page break even though there are enough space for the remaining sentences. Here are sample output.(the lines is a frame) As you see there are enough space, I think. Sometimes, the section title is located at the bottom of the page, so I put \page to make the new section starts from a new page. Making bibliography references interactive in mkiv

Hello list, I'm currently using the built in bib-module in mkiv together with a bib database file. How can I set it up so that clicking on a reference takes me to the corresponding entry in the publication list? Example: ...lots of text... You can find more information in [23]. ...many more pages of text... Publications ... [23] Hoekwater, T. (2006). CONTEXT Publication Module, The user documententation. ... When clicking on "[23]" in the text, I want to jump right to the [23] entry in the publication list. Is this possible?

math-align / subformulas not working

Is there a new way to create subformulas? P.

inner/outer margin: confused width

Hi, the width of my inner and outer margin are different and the pagelayout is double sided. When I use \ininner and \inouter directly, always the correct width is used. But as soon I put it into a function the wrong margin width is often used. I attached two files: - simple example tex file - the pdf output of that example file In the example pdf you can see starting from page five the mixed up result. Is there something I do wrong with the double sided mode? Or is this an issue how the function is written? Thanks in advance! P.

You know, when I hear the word "layer", I have some ideas about how it should/could/might work, and probably these ideas are different than Hans'. So I'm going to briefly describe my idea (already modified by the answers) and please tell me what's wrong with it. So I imagine that \definelayer / \setuplayer defines a rectangular shape on the page, possibly framed/colored/etc., which is going to appear on all pages (default) or on selected ones. The contents of layers are set with \setlayer, (with some - mysterious for me - "setups" trickery if they are going to change from page to page), and they are actually put on the page by \setupbackgrounds. (And I have no idea what \flushlayer does in this conceptual framework.) So layers are actually kind of "beneath" ordinary page contents. right and left alignment in header w/ linebreak sign

Hi, I am trying to have the header text aligned at the outer border of margin. At the moment I have \setupheadertexts[margin][][\rightaligned{\CurrentChapter}][\leftaligned{\CurrentChapter}][] and in the text \chapter{A very, very long long heading} and it works like I expect it. But as soon I have a linebreak in the heading (via \\) I get following error message: structure > sectioning > chapter @ level 2 : 0.1 -> A very,\\very long long title ! Extra }, or forgotten \endgroup. system > tex > error on line 1 in file context-test-struktur3.tex: Extra }, or forgotten ... As soon I remove the alignment in the header also the chapter with the linebreak sign works - but of course I get then a wrong alignment. How can I make that the header works with the correct alignment and linebreaks in the heading? (header should be still without linebreaks) Thanks in advance! Finding values of the context macros inside Lua functions (=expansion inside Lua functions?)

Hello all, For several hours trying to find solutions of problem. My minimal example (I mention it at the end of email) for clear reasons show, that : 7 is not number. 7 is number. 7is not number. 7is not number. In the first is argument '\value' negotiable to the value, in second it is not possible (but for clear reasons too). I would need to find from argument ie macro '\\value' in the LUA function its numerical value. Is there any function that would do that? I need something as a function of context (...), which would, however, its output is not located into ConTeXt, but its result get to back to a Lua function or into variable. It is something like the expansion of an existing ConTeXt macro to its value. My question is that is it able to define new itemize header, for example, circled number using \defineitemgroup so that I got circled number in the 3rd level automatically without saying that \startitemize[cnum]. In the wiki, \defineitemgroup[ltxitm][levels=5] % \setupitemgroup[ltxitm][1][1] \setupitemgroup[ltxitm][2][2] \setupitemgroup[ltxitm][3][3,packed] \setupitemgroup[ltxitm][4][4,packed] \setupitemgroup[ltxitm][5][5,packed] % I tried to define the third level with "cnum", but it is not working. Some official documents has their own numbering system. In that case, it is very convenient to define new itemgroup following its rule and forget defining the symbol for each level every time. Hi, I'm writing a report about my internship at the moment with ConTeXt. There's one problem: I would like to turn off the header and footer on the page with the table of contents. I've found the command "\page[header,footer]" but it has no effect. :( Command reference for "\page" command: http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Reference/en/page Here you can see my present code: http://pastebin.com/JNtXji1i I placed the "\page" command before "\completecontent" to turn off header and footer, however they are typeset. about suppressing prefix in section number

Hi, Here are a few questions. 1. The output of \section{one} \section{two} is 1.1 one 1.2 two But is it possible to suppress the prefix chapter number like 1 one 2 two ? 2. When defining custom itemgroup, we can set each level using the predefined item headers, like n, r, 1, 2, ...., and it works fine. I am trying to use newly defined conversion, but I couldn't succeed. Is it possible to set an itemgroup using predefined item and custom made item head like \def\circlednum#1{\uchar{36}{95+#1}} \defineconversion[cnum][\circlednum] ? Thank you and Have a nice weekend. I updated Ruby to the latest and greatest beta but have the same results: TeXUtils does not function correctly when processing .tui files, likely due to character encoding issues in Ruby. I'm running Ruby 1.9.2 and this seems to be the problem. 1.8.7 was working fine on other machines. There are evidently large changes in Ruby API and string handling and character encoding in upgrading from 1.8.x -> 1.9.x. I'm making the assumption that the only way to handle this is to downgrade Ruby. Are there any alternatives? Thanks for your help again!

n-dash and line break

Hi all, is this the intended behavior? In mkiv, no line break after an n-dash; in mkii only if it is keyed in as "--", not directly as the utf char. I think lines should be broken at n-dashes. Instead of only pdf I also need to generate XHTML. For this I need to use \startchapter and \stopchapter instead of \chapter. Hello, the following question may relate to XML processing rather to Context. But someone may have needed to solve the problem. Lets have a File.export which was generated by Context with "\setupbackend[export=yes,xhtml=yes,css=yes]". Such a XML output file uses tags like: <section> <sectionnumber> <sectiontitle> <sectioncontent> <itemgroup> <item> ... Has anyone solved conversion of such a file to an [arbitrary] .(x)html? I have only slight knowledge about XML transformations - the task is just about converting the Context XML to XHTML - and I would be hardly able to write a XSLT from scratch. Moreover, I don't have personal experience with any XML processor/converter. It wouldn't be so important how the resulting .html would be "perfect"; the main goal is to convert Context File.export to File.html with working hyperlinks to view it in a web page viewer. Could anyone describe his experience? - Processor, support file(s) (XSLT?); any demos of such support files (their "minimals") or "complex solutions" would be welcome; whatever working solution. Hi, I have a basic problem with the very first step of using bibliographies in ConTeXt: converting BBI to BBL files. And, as far as I have understood, the only thing that ".bst" files do is sorting. This means that a plain run of bibtex like this ... \setupbibtex[database=mytry_x.bib] \starttext Test \completepublications \stoptext ... should convert the entire database (eg. from a ".bib" file) in TeX-parsable records, written in a ".bbl" file. If I want to shorten many authors to just one followed by "et al." there is the otion "authoretallimit" that specifies the number needed to trigger 'et al.' handling. This can be set *later* in setuppublicationlist. Predicting that this would be somewhat of an inconvenience, I decided to move the location yet again. This location change is not very important except to people coming in by car: we will still be in the same part of Belgium, but now a little bit to the north of Liège, instead of to the east. The new location is a small romantic château in Bassenge-Boirs: http://www.sjetootje.nl/ The meeting website is updated as well, of course. == Early bird registration change == Mojca pointed out by email that it was now impossible to register as early bird for people that could not / would not attend Southern France, but would be interested in coming to Belgium. Anyone paying after that day has to pay the full amount. Export problems

Hi, I played a little with the export feature. It's really fun. So far I've two questions/problems. 1. \setupbackend[export=yes,xhtml=yes,css=yes] \starttext before \quotation{test \quote{test}} after \stoptext exports to: before “test ‘test’ ” after -----------------------------^ (space between ’ and ”) But sometimes there is no space between the closing quote symbol and the following word. (I‘m trying to make an example). 2. Is there a possibility to “ignore” content the other way round? Something like: \startmode[export] … \stopmode Concrete it‘s problematic to export texts with onum- and pnum-features enabled. Greeting Andreas

Here's a minimal example: \starttext \definelayer[title][x=105mm,y=20mm] \setlayer[title]{This is the title.} \stoptext (I'd also like to be able to "anchor" the title so that (105mm,20mm) are the coordinates of the center, not the lower-left corner etc. How to do that?) Dear ConTeXt-ers, I'm trying to remember why we are shipping dvipdfmx in ConTeXt: was it because of Aleph or because of Eastern scripts? I'm not sure if it is still used or not. I know that it is pretty important in eastern scripts and as a basis for xdvipdfmx, but I don't know to what extent ConTeXt supports it and to what extent ConTeXt users are using it if at all. I would only like to know the situation. If people use it, it is no problem to keep it, but I would at least like to have a rough idea of its usefulness and usage in ConTeXt. (The dvips program will probably also be removed; I suspect that it doesn't work at the moment anyway.) Mojca

How to prepare a template for list of names in ConTeXt

Hi all, I have an ambitious plan to start (again) to use ConTeXt (MkIV, of course;)), so that I can learn it a bit; also, I'd like to play around with metapost/metafun (after a long break - I'm a metapost to tikz convert;)). I want to prepare a template for a list of names, looking like this (in ascii art;)): List of names Class ________ Date ____ A-F M-R ____ ____ ____ ____ G-L S-Z ____ ____ ____ ____ (Of course, there will be more horizontal lines). In other words, I'd like to have two columns (and a title spanning them) and a lot of places to put down a name. I'd like each horizontal line to have a little "hook" and one of the ends, i.e., a quarter of a circle. I'd like to have full control over the positioning (margins, width of the intercolumn space, height of each place for a name etc.). I'd like the labels like A-F to be also "underlined" by similar "hooked lines". How do you think I should do it? More specifically: 1. How can I do something like "metapost macro" putting a "left or right hooked horizontal line, of given length/width/color, at a specific place"? 2. How can I instruct ConTeXt to put things where I want them? In plain TeX or LaTeX, I'd use a bunch of boxes, vskips etc; what is the "ConTeXt way"? Thanks in advance! -- Marcin Borkowski

\date bug with french

Hi, The date printed with the \date command is not correct in french (but ok in english). See this example : \mainlanguage[fr] \starttext \date \stoptext It prints "44 juillet 2011" (today). Without " \mainlanguage[fr]", it’s prints "July 4, 2011" (as expected). I have "ConTeXt - 2011.06.29 09:57" and "LuaTeX-0.70.1". Hi, I have installed tl-2011 a few days ago. Context mkiv runs ok. But to configure page size I put a few commands in cont-sys.mkiv under home:.texlive2011/tex-config which is the result of mtxrun --expand-path TEXMFCONFIG. However, the file has no effect on context and nor is it found by mtxrun cont-sys.mkiv. TEXMF is found as: home:.texlive2011/texmf-config:home:texmf: !!selfautoparent:texmf-config:!!selfautoparent:texmf-project: !!selfautoparent:texmf-fonts:!!/usr/local/texlive/texmf-local: !!selfautoparent:texmf-dist:!!selfautoparent:linux-64:!!selfautoparent:texmf (one line) What do I miss? Precise Destination of References

I have links to different parts of my document using \goto. I would like to know if there is some way to increase the precision of the links' destination. When I click them, they navigate to the correct page, but not the correct part of the page. Also, I've opened the document in several different pdf viewers, and, whenever I click a link, the document re-sizes itself. Is there a way to prevent this?

Hi, did something happend to the \fullstructureheadnumber in the last six months? I still can find it in the source (strc-sec.mkiv) but is always halts with "Undefined control sequence". Is there a new command for this? Thanks P.

Editable PDF-document

I am creating a PDF document with ConTeXt. This document should also be editable by the client itself. Two persons in the company I am working for tried to add annotations for me. One was using Infix. When trying to edit the document, he auto magically was transferred to a place in the document 30 or 40 pages further. Someone else worked with NitroPDF. He managed (as far as I know without problems) to give 38 annotations, but the size of the document increased from 5.4 MB to 102 MB. This looks not workable. Is there a way I can change the generated PDF so that the client will be able to edit the PDF when he gets it, or could I better generate HTML? -- Cecil Westerhof

'Rainbow' header/footer

(100+ document) Last week they showed me another document with used a kind of rainbow (but completely filled at the upper part) for the page header and a 180 degrees rotated one with different colors for the page footer. ConTeXt minimals, TL Contrib & Mac support (ppc, <=10.5)

Dear Mac lovers, After yesterday's system failure on my computer I installed the new OS which means that I'm no longer able to compile binaries for Leopard and PPC. (My computer failure wasn't planned, but it has been known for a long time that we will have problems supporting those OS-es and architectures.) For some time Richard Koch will try to take over the compilation, but the future of support for PPC and/or Tiger & Leopard users cannot be taken for granted. At the moment ConTeXt minimals still support Tiger. TeX Live only supports Leopard. This is just a preliminary note. We don't plan to switch off the support tomorrow, but if there will still be users wanting to use older operating systems when Dick upgrades all of his machines, we will have to find other people willing to help with regular compilations or we will simply cease to support those OS-es and processors. Cambria: integral sign has wrong size

Running the following in the latest beta produces the attached pdf. Does anybody have an idea about what's going wrong here, or how to fix it? Hi all, == Location change == Let's do the most important news first: The 5th ConTeXt meeting has been relocated to Belgium (due to other obligations by Arthur, southern France turned out to be near impossible to get organised). The new location is Charneux, Belgium, geographically in the middle of the triangle created by Maastricht (NL), Aachen (DE), and Liège (BE). We will (as always) pick up people from various important public transport spots during the Monday afternoon & evening, and try our best to do timely drop-offs on Saturday as well. == Registration / Bursaries == Perhaps it is the fine weather that makes people hold off, perhaps it is because of Southern France sounding more attractive and the end of summer, or maybe we simply have not sent enough reminder emails to the list yet, but it is noticeable that the number of registrations is a little less than usual around this time in the process. If you are planning to attend, please register soon. Around August 20, the caterer has to be informed on the number of people that need food, so if you register any later than that you may run the risk of having to eat scraps ;) Joking aside, it goes without saying that we look forward to seeing as many ConTeXt users as possible! On a related note: we have received limited but firm commitments for bursary funds from various LUGs, so even if you cannot afford the new (reduced) fees, it may still be possible for you to attend. Just drop us a message explaining how much funding you would need to be able to attend and why we should give it to you, and we will see what can is possible. == Fee changes == With the location, also the fees have changed. What used to be the 'early bird' rate is now the 'normal' rate. Consequently, the normal rate is now a lot lower than it initially was: down to 370 EUR. Early bird registrations are now closed, but a discount of 100 EUR will be retroactively applied for people that have already registered until now. There is now a fixed fee for accompanying persons of 300 EUR (includes lodging and all meals, but no conference materials). It is also possible to extend your stay until Monday morning 26/9, for an extra fee of 30 EUR per day (but you will have to scavenge your own food). Intersection of Header and Leftmargindistance

I have a background for my header that is supposed to extend over the entire width of the page (leftedge to rightedge). The background is interrupted in the area where the header intersects the space between text and left margin. There is no option to include leftmargindistance in \setupbackgrounds. Bug, workarounds? I find the following strange in columns. In the second \startcolumns\stopcolumns one would expect that the short text fragment in the column to the right, is placed in the wide open space on the first page. But in contrast, it is set to the left on a next page. Quite unnecessary, because in the column to the right there is enough space. Is it normal that after \setupcolumns[balance=no] the dividing line is not fully drawn in the case where the column at the left is shorter than the one to the right. textrule customization

The \texrule is typeset as: --- _TEXT_ ----------------------------- this I would like to change to: ----------------------------- _TEXT_ --- \setuptextrules has location=left|inmargin but regrettably not location=right or location=middle (or center) (neither in the wiki nor by experiment). Isn't that easily implemented? If so, it would be appreciated. As an aside, setting up the thickness of the line seems desirable to, especially in view of the fact that other aspects as the color are already customizable. Hans van der Meer

Space between item symbol and item text

Dear all, how do I decrease the horizontal whitespace between the symbol and the text in an item[ize] list? The manual suggests this: \startitemize[1*serried] \item Test \stopitemize It's not working, I get the same distance as with no option at all . Test But I wanted . Test In fact, the option <<n>>*serried does not have any effect, whereas <<n>>*broad is working properly. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Trying to get figure frame corners to clip figure

Hey list, I'd like the rounded corners of my figure's frame to clip off the outside corners of the image so they aren't sticking out. itemize textstyle

Hi all, is it possible to assign different styles to each itemgroup or level of 'itemization'? It is possible when using \head to assign a headstyle, but wouldn't it be nice to assign a certain textstyle to an item level? Consider something heavily customized (but still useful IMHO) like this: 1. First Level (bold, small caps) - Second level (normal) > third level (italic) * fourth level (smaller font [\tfx], text color dark gray) I somehow can't find a way to achieve this, without applying the style in the actual list. I also do not know what these before and after keys do, but I assume they control more the surroundings than being a command that is insterted "before" and "after" the item text. Best Regards!

Text Background in Columnset

I have two columns on one page of my document. How to install extra module in the latest context?

I update my context today, but it seems that the third part module did not installed. I use the command sh ./first-setup.sh --extras=all to update the context and when I compile the file I write before, it says the module vim and simplefonts did not found. Is there any error during my update ? How can I fix it ? Thanks

modules in minimals (important)

Hello, Hans has changed the command line parameter for modules (--modules=vim should work now). The problem is that he now stores the chosen modules to a variable "modules" as opposed to "extras". So if you want to keep your modules, please edit status-of-update.lua and replace ["extras"] with ["modules"]. Or simply install the modules again. There is also a switch --fonts= which installs some additional fonts from http://minimals.contextgarden.net/current/fonts/extra/ Mojca

Continuous chapter numbering without prefixes in documents with parts

Does anybody know how to implement a continuous numbering of chapters in documents with several parts? More specifically: how can I achieve the following numbering scheme (with unprefixed chapter numbers): I First part 1 Chapter one 2 Chapter two II Second part 3 Chapter three I tried (unsuccessfully) the following: \setuphead[part][placehead=yes] \starttext \part{First part} \chapter{Chapter one} \chapter{Chapter two} \part{Second part} \chapter{Chapter three} \stoptext The here result is something like: First part 1.1 Chapter one 1.2 Chapter two Second part 2.1 Chapter three I tried to get rid of the chapter prefixes by putting \setuphead[chapter][prefix=no] but that had no effect whatsoever. Dear list, I would like to use ConTeXt (MKIV) for typesetting my thesis. So I tried a lot of the features and I'm really impressed by the flexibility and so far more than satisfied with the results. Now I obviously need a bibliography and tried to get it working today. But whatever I tried, I can't seem to get the entries to show up in the pdf. Flowfram-like behavior?

Is there a way to get behavior like flowfram using ConTeXt? Specifically, I mean the ability to define a set of "frames" or boxes, possibly several on a page or across a series of pages, and have the text automatically flow from one box to another in a prescribed order? I'm interested in doing InDesign-like layouts, which might have multiple "stories", each of which can flow across multiple frames on multiple pages. Using flowfram with LaTeX comes pretty close (though only one story can flow from frame to frame), but there are conflicts with the longtable package and potentially others. I figured since one of the goals of ConTeXt (as I understand it) was to avoid inter-package conflicts, perhaps this would offer a better solution. Heading Font Size and Figures in Headings

What is the \setuphead option to set font size? I have some small icons that I would like to place on the same line as some of my section titles. I would also like these icons to appear in the table of contents.The code I'm using: \section{\placefigure[force]{none}{\externalfigure[timers]}Timers}. I cannot get the placement correct. Instead of being aligned with and to the left of the section title, the figure appears centered on the page a couple of lines above it, in both the text body and the table of contents. I've tried other options besides [force]: [left], [here], [line], the result is always the same.

How to get the chapter number

Centred Figure

Hey list, I'd like to place a figure on its own page, landscaped, horizontally and vertically centred, and uniformly scaled to the maximum dimensions of the page, whichever hits it first, the width or height of the figure. I'd like to do this within, say, 95% of the page width and height. How to override the print resolution

When using \externalfigure it uses the print resolution for putting the graphic into the document. Until now all my graphics had a resolution of 300x300, but I just got one with a much lower one, which blew up in my document. I just set the print resolution to 300x300 and everything is fine again, but is there a way to override the printer resolution? -- Cecil Westerhof

Changing the colors of a button

I am trying the following: \button[backgroundcolor=darkgray,framecolor=black,framecorner=round]{Go Back}[PreviousJump] The parameter framecolor works (I tried it with green). Framecorner works also, but backgroundcolor not. How can I change the background and text color of the button? Also would it not be better when clicking on this button, the highlighting also works with rounded corners? -- Cecil Westerhof

Would Multiple Processes Cause: luatex: execution interrupted

I run context in a task queue with four worker processes. It is possible that context is invoked simultaneously to process distinct input files by tasks running in separate worker processes. I see periodic fatal errors, as follows: mtx-context | fatal error: no return code, message: luatex: execution interrupted However, the same input files can be processed by context directly without errors. Is it possible that context running in simultaneous but separate processes conflict? This is LuaTeX, Version beta-0.70.1-2011051923 (rev 4277) ConTeXt ver: 2011.05.18 18:04 MKIV fmt: 2011.7.2 int: english/english

Fifth ConTeXt meeting, September 2011, France

Hello everyone, This must be the second thread I initiate this year on the list, but unlike my previous post (http://www.ntg.nl/pipermail/ntg-context/2010/048296.html) this is actually serious. I hereby announce the next ConTeXt meeting, that will take place on the island of Porquerolles off the coast of the French Riviera, from Monday, September 19th, 2011, to Saturday, September 24th. The conference venue has been pre-booked for these dates, so this is firm. Of course, there is yet nothing like a set program at this moment, so we're expecting your proposals (there will be a formal call for papers later). Watch this page: http://meeting.contextgarden.net/2011/ Registration is not yet open, but will be in a few weeks. The fee is notably higher than it was for the previous ConTeXt meetings (see http://meeting.contextgarden.net/2011/fee.shtml) I'm sorry about that, but that is the best I can do in this place, short of feeding on black roots and camping in the woods or on the beach (which is forbidden anyway on the island, it's a protected area apart for the village). But food will instead be excellent, obviously, and wine is included in the price of the meals (that was actually one of the first things I was told by the people at the conference venue).
