Hi, The attached t.tex file produces the attached t.xhtml file. I have looked at the following documents: - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EPUB#Open_Publication_Structure_2.0.1 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DTBook - http://www.idpf.org/epub/20/spec/OPS_2.0.1_draft.htm - http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml11/doctype.html - http://www.w3.org/TR/html5/sections.html It seems that the macros in t.tex are being written out as XML elements, verbatim. It is my understanding that these XML elements, however, do not conform to the minimal content models associated with XHTML 1.1. What needs to happen to take a minimal ConTeXt file (such as the attached) to produce a minimum viable EPUB that: - Generates XHTML headers (including <!DOCTYPE and <html...>) - Produces images as img tags, rather than float tags. - Uses typical XHTML tags for <body> elements (e.g., <ol> for ordered lists). Ideally, I would like to do something such as: - context t.tex - mtxrun --script epub --make t.specification to generate an EPUB that passes validation of epubcheck<http://code.google.com/p/epubcheck/wiki/Library>, with an output XHTML file that more closely matches the XHTML specification. brogue (OT) and a related question

Hi, starting with the off topic... A new Brogue (https://sites.google.com/site/broguegame/) version shipped and I updated the table with the monster statistics. For all interested [your chance to stop reading here], the link to the final document (made with today's version). http://www.wuala.com/indiego/public/brogue/1.7.3/ Now to the question: I need to fill the table with some space to reach a specific dimension (the used background graphic makes this necessary). Currently I have to fiddle the dimension by hand. Is there a way to use a fixed TABLE height on each page (for a multi page table)? Or is there a way to calculate the remaining space on the page inside the TABLE? Peter

wrong behaviour with ConTeXt unicode bidi

Hi The following document shows the wrong behaviour (the second parentheses is mirrored incorrectly and it should be after the number not before the number). Assuming "test" is an RTL word when I write (test 1363) I expect to get exactly that but somehow I get (test (1363 One related question: is it possible to change font automatically when luatex sees a LTR word? table cell frames

Is it possible to have different colored table cell border frames? I tried using the \setuptables[rulecolor=...] but it didn't work. Replacement with a predefined table?

Is the following possible in ConText? I want to define a table like this: 1: Hans 2: Wolfgang 3: Aditja 4: Marco ... in which I can look up by a function, which allows the following command: \name{number}. E.g. "This is \name{3}" should compile to "This is Aditja". For my purpose, the table would have 114 entries. Thanks for help. Huseyin

I am in need of a reference to a "bachelor thesis" but the file bxml-apa.mkiv only provides "phdthesis" as a possibility. Adding the following code to bxml-apa.mkiv doesn't work or is not enough to add the "bachelorthesis" as an extra. I did search for "phdthesis" in the ConTeXt base files and was found once: in the bxml-apa.mkiv file. devanagari rendering (2 errors)

Hello, I recently learned that ConTeXt-mkiv and LuaTeX now support devanagari fonts. An enormous thank you to Kai and Hans and anyone else involved in making that happen. I know it's a niche application, but for some of us it makes all the difference. I ran some tests on the output and the rendering is lovely, even on the extremely complex ligatures. I noticed only two errors, both of which are simple to describe and consistent: 1) Conjuncts of the form (consonant + virama + र "ra") render the opposite sequence intended. For example: [U+0915] [U+094D][U+0930] (क्र "kra") incorrectly produces the glyph intended for [U+0930][U+094D][U+0915] (र्क "rka"). 2) Word-final virama causes words to render with a half-consonant at the end. They should instead display the whole-consonant with the virama diacritic. Half-consonants should be used only when conjoining with another subsequent consonant in the same word. Hi, I uploaded a beta with additional bidi code. There are now three methods: default : the original one, the fastest, wil be improved a bit one : unicode bidi, derived from khaleds t-bidi, cleaned up and optimized plus some thingies, but in working still close to the original two : unicode bidi, the version that will evolve All methods come with the usual context kind of tracing. Some of these methods have different options (default has local and global behaviour), one has no options, and for two one can disable fancy fences heuristics. More will follow once we have investigated all upcoming changes, circulating wishes, conflicting demands etc. Eventually there will be a manual about these matters. extra - in reference

Doing \in{Figure}[fig:figname] neatly typesets for example: "figure 1.4" Defined as: \startplacefigure[title=figure-title,reference=fig:figname] But if I define:\startchapter[title=chapter-title,reference=chap:chapname] Then \in{Chapter}[chap:chapname] produces: "chapter 6 - " Thus an extra space + minus sign + space are put behind the chapter reference. This is annoying, because I would like my chapter reference to be "chapter 6" without any additions. Besides, the figure reference and chapter reference behave differently, an unexpected phenomenon. It seems the \startchapter defines a reference different from the reference in \startplacefigure. Is this difference in behaviour intentional? Is it a bug? How can I revert my chapter references to the form without the trailing characters? Thanks in advance Hans van der Meer

How to typeset two columns with longer text

Hello, suppose we need to typeset text into two (generally: several) columns. Depending on the length of the text in the first (generally: i-th) column we need to choose an alternative: 1) Short-text Some-text-in-the-second-column Another-text Some-other-text or: 2) Very-long-text-in-the-1st-column Some-text-in-the-second-column Another-text Some-other-text So, when the text in the first (or i-th resp.) column is too long, we need to go to the next row (generally: leaving all remaining columns empty) and skip the first column (generally: all columns being too long so far) automatically. Is there a way how to achieve this automatically, without manual check? (Suppose typesetting columns with \tabulate command(s) with width of the first column specified, like "|lw(2in)|p|".) I want to use \part without the number of the part as a piece of the headnumbers (of chapter, section, subsection ....). E.g.: \part{One} \chapter{Chapter} \section{Section} \part{Two} \chapter{Chapter} \section{Section} gives this compile: 1.1 Chapter 1.1.1 Section 2.1 Chapter 2.1.1 Section But I only want: 1 Chapter 1.1 Section 1 Chapter 1.1 Section (because the number of the current part is already written in the header). So actually, I want to use \part as a resetter of the headnumbers. Is that possible? Huseyin

Hi Marco, hi Aditya, Thank you very much for the solutions you have proposed for my problem, that of making a side by side combination of two figures of unequal height with both the figures and their (sub)-captions located at the top. In order not to make this mail too long I simply refer to the ntg-context Digest numbers and message number containing the proposed solutions: Marco's in ntg-context Digest, Vol 111, Issue 23, Message 1, and in ntg-context Digest, Vol 111, Issue 24, message 5, Aditya's in ntg-context Digest, Vol 111, Issue 24, message 4 These solutions give me all the possibilities I need. When I just want both figures in the combination to be located at the top without subcaptions I will probably use Marco's second proposal, which is both simpler and far more elegant than the hack I found myself. If I want them at the top with subcaptions I will use Aditya's method, which, by the way, is nearly identical with Marco's first solution, but for two arguments for \externalfigure, the fllename of the figure and [location=top]. This fully solved my problem. Thank you both. Wouldn't it be worthwhile to add it to the wiki? Best regards, Robert

What is the context way to place text near a table (or another float) in an enumeration-environment? I just want to have the text "just this...." right to the table. The second item "2)" should be below the table. In the (not so) MWE all is fine, but the table is not indented. When I use \placetable the text is indented, but the second item is placed near the table on the right. (I could insert a \blank[xycm] but I don't think it's the way to solve my problem.) I just noticed the YATM, "yet another table method", built in ConTEXt, called "extreme tables", which is said to be a variant of the natural table mechanism. Is extreme-tables a superset of natural-tables functionality? Is the future in extreme-tables and will natural-tables eventually take a back seat and then fade away, being surpassed in development, features and usage? Cheers

Strange page break before \title

Hi, I have this setuptitle: \setuphead[title][before={\page[no]}, after={\startalignment[center] {\dorecurse{30}~}\thinrule{\dorecurse{30}~}% and this document: \starttext \startalignment[center] Nom: \hl[24] Curs: \hl[4] \stopalignment \title{Nom del tema} ... \stoptext Before title, context breaks a page. It took me a while to harmonize your new float with my other floats in my document setups. These are all placed on the left side of the page and that caused yor float to move almost off the page. So I added: \setupfloat[combinationfloat][location=middle,spacebefore=medium,spaceafter=medium,sidespacebefore=medium,sidespaceafter=medium] and now it works beautifully. There is, however, another complication which makes that unfortunately I cannot use your solution "out of the box" in all situations. The paired figures in my particular project are often of different size, in particular of different height, (but small enough to be placed side by side). The author wants not only the figure captions at the top, but also the figures themselves. I did not mention this complication because, a) I had found a hack to place both figures at the top, and b) I had not expected that the solution for the problem I posted would be a new type of float instead of a new type of combination. So now the captions are at the top but the figures are not. (Law of Conservation of Misery) I will use your solution when the figures are of the same height and can be placed at the bottom You're far more experienced and ingenious in these matters than I am, so perhaps you have a solution for this additional problem, positioning figures of different sizes at the top too. (I should mention, however, that I have a fall-back solution, which consists of adding another line to the caption with info about the two figures in the combination) Thank you very much anyway. captions in float combinations

Dear list, In two-column combinations of figures, the "subcaptions" for the individual figures are always placed at the bottom, below the figures, regardless of the position of the main figure caption. In my project I have all figure captions located above the figure. How can I move also these subcaptions to the top, to a position just below the main caption? Thanks in advance for any advice. \underbar problem

In a lengthy document, \underbar occasionally has no effect. From the wiki, I have learned that this can be rectified using \inframed[frame=off]{\underbar{….}}. The problem is that this only works for short text: lengthy text, say a paragraph, gets printed as a single line. Is there a way (a key?) that will allow \underbar to work with \inframed or perhaps another way of getting \underbar to work 100% of the time? Alan

outer floats on doublesided pages

Dear all, I have problems with the placement of floats. I need them to be placed in the outer edge of the text, but Context puts them in the middle of the page. The outer, inner, outeredge, inneredge, commands do not work. Right and left do work. Preferably the criterium option should also work, e.g. criterium=0.67. A minimal test file is attached. Try it out with a dummy, or with cow picture, or with any other picture of your liking. I updated my context installation today to a bèta version. The version is: 2013.08.30 02.05. Footnotes italic or normal? And BEFORE for footnotes

Two questions about footnotes: 1. By default the footnote-number (now always speaking of the fn-numbers in the text, not at the buttom) appears in the same style, like the text. E.g.: \starttext {\it This was\footnote{And actually is.} my way of typesetting.} Is\footnote{Another fn.} this not beautiful? \stoptext You see, the first number is italic, the second normal. How can I force ALL fn-numbers to appear in normal style, independent from the textstyle of the text, they were set in? 2. I want to add a \narrownobreakspace before every footnote-number (because of the closing quotation marks, which often overlap with them, especially if they are set italic). One manual way would be this: Any text.\narrownobreakspace\footnote{fn} But how can I do it generally in the style-file? Is there something like a "before" key for the fn-numbers? Best would be, if this \narrownobreakspace would be only set, if an quotation mark comes directly before the fn-number. But I guess that is not easy, so the general solution would be ok, too. Thanks Marco and Wolfgang! Always impressed about the possibilities of ConTeXt and this mailing list. By testing this, naturally another related questions come up. E.g. this one: How to define before ? and ! a 0.1 leftspace, but before the combination ?! only ONE 0.1 leftdistance - and not such a distance before the ! for this case? So I want: "Only ?!", instead of "Only ? !" (here in this mailer shown with normal spaces) Is that possible, too? Or if not, it would be enough to set simply no space infront of the combination. installing two ConTeXt trees

I would like to install two ConTeXt trees on my laptop, one for work in progress and another for testing, and to run them using TeXShop (if that is feasible). Are there any instructions for this? I have searched the wiki and TeXShop help files but have not seen anything that indicates how to do this. I currently have a system-wide installation of the ConTeXt standalone. Alan

Bibliography, replacing repeated authorname by a dash

Dear List, I'm typesetting a PhD thesis. The university has strict and not quite standard specifications for the Bibliography and one of these is that if an author's name is only given with its first entry and must be replaced by a dash in the following entries. Is there anybody on this list who can give me a method worthy of ConTeXt? (I've no experience with Lua myself.) I did find a hack, i.e. replacing in the .bbl-file the author's last name by "\hl[4]" (and omitting his initial) the second time, as shown in the minimal example. But that requires modifying the .bbl-file manually, a task which I'd rather avoid, but will do if necessary. Thanks in advance for any advice. Is there a possibility to exchange all "?" by the effect of "\narrownobreakspace ?" with one small command? Setting section margin

I would like to adjust the margin for sections, subsections, etc. I came across a suggestion that you can use setuphead with the beforesection and aftersection options to do something like this, but I tried this with MKIV, and beforesection and aftersection appear to have no effect (see the example below). Recent documentation doesn't show these as parameters for setuphead. How do I do this with MKIV? Problem with units and problem with libraries

Hi all, recently I installed TeXlive 2013. In a document, I ran into the problem with font sizes: only points and ems operates properly in contrast to other units giving the basic (12pt) size. The same behaviour gives ConTeXt in TL2012. Older TL2011 and TL2010 are OK. Footnote number in different font?

Hello List, this is a nitpick, but it's an itch that's been itching me for a couple of days now. When you put a footnote to Arabic text, the little number (like this one: ²) appears in the font the Arabic text is in, which makes it look distinct from the other footnote numbers in the text and thus difficult to identify for the eye. I'm using \setupnotation[footnote][before=\lefttoright] to keep the footnotes from appearing completely mirrored, but haven't been able to find out a way what else to put there (perhaps next to the \lefttoright) to affect the font of the little number. How to redefine \section temporaly?

Hi all, I wrote some articles with context and they contain (of course) sections. Now I have to include all these articles in a book but each article should become a section of the book. So I wonder if there is a way to convert the \section command of the article files into \subsection in the book. texlive vs. Context minimal on Windows

I know that Context Minimals is more up to date than texlive, which is updated yearly. But texlive when installed on Windows adds a menu under "programs" that is very handy for beginners. outer floats on doublesided pages

Dear all, I have problems with the placement of floats. I need them to be placed in the outer edge of the text, but Context puts them in the middle of the page. The outer, inner, outeredge, inneredge, commands do not work. Right and left do work. Preferably the criterium option should also work, e.g. criterium=0.67. A minimal test file is attached. Try it out with a dummy, or with cow picture, or with any other picture of your liking. I updated my context installation today to a bèta version. The version is: 2013.08.30 02.05. Different counters for titles

To solve my last asked question, I chose a somewhat easiert way and defined an own chapter-title, which is unnumbered. Here is my Minexample: \definehead[mychapter][chapter] \setuphead[mychapter][number=no] \setupcombinedlist[content] [list={mychapter, chapter, section}] \starttext \completecontent \mychapter{Vorwort} \chapter{First Chapter} \section{Some section in the first chapter} \chapter{Second chapter} \section{Some section in the second chapter} \stoptext The problem is now: Obviously the counter of mychapter and chapter is the same. Because "first chapter" begins with number 2, but should with 1 – that was the intention of this new chapter style, which is nothing but a unnumbered copy of the default chapter. Was that idea wrong? How to give chapter and mychapter their own counters, to achieve this result – or any other way to let "first chapter" begin with 1 (but not subtract 1 from the numbers, because that ends up in the first section "1.0". The first section of the first chapter should be numbered with "1.1", as usual). Huseyin

Numbering sections

I have activated numbering sections by *\setuphead[section][number=yes]*, and now the numbers are in the toc, too, as they should. How to show the numbers in the header, too? The header is: *\setupheadertexts [][{\grau{\tfx\getmarking[section]}}][{\definedfont[name:myriadprosemibold at 10pt]\grau\getmarking[chapter]}][]* But the numbers of the sections are not shown in the header, only the titles. Hi, I am trying to pick up on an old thread of creating an overview page [1]. Basically, the idea is to create an overvew slide at the end of a presentation that shows the first page of different sections in a presentation. Based on Wolfgang's answer in that old thread, I save the relevant pages in a box, and then display them again at the end of the presentation. This works, except that I get a series of warnings: l.86 \placeoverviewpage LuaTeX warning (ext4): destination with the same identifier (name{aut:10}) has been already used, duplicate ignored How do I get rid of these? Making font smaller in \starttyping environment?

Here's a minimal example: \setuphead[part][placehead=yes] \setuplabeltext[part=Part~] \starttext \part{pt} This is a part. \stoptext With MkIV (e.g. on live.contextgarden.net) the part heading is just "1 pt". With MkII, it is "Part 1 pt" as expected. (setuplabeltxt does work for chapter labels, with either context version.) -Sanjoy

Bug with mathmatrix row-spacing in \startalign

Hello, I hope I'm doing this right. I discovered a bug where the spacing between rows becomes too large in a mathmatrix when used in between \startalign and \stopalign. Arabic and Latin hemistiches

Dear gang, Re: Arabic poetry thread: Hans has just implemented high-level support for hemistiches and caesuras (using here the technical names for the style of poetry structure used in Arabic and other classical literature). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hemistich http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caesura With the latest beta, run the attached file. The module m-hemistich.mkiv also has a demo inside. For Arabic, note the tatweel across columns (only manual for now). The separator option with \hemistiches is probably more useful for Latin and Greek classical literature etc where the separator occurs on every line; the \hemistichescaesura option is probably more useful for Arabic where there are only occasional connectors across columns. zero-width joiners etc

Dear gang, Does anyone here remember how to toggle Unicode control characters like the zero-width joiners, non-joiners etc? For example, some fonts map the control character to a symbol but we usually don't want that symbol showing up in normal text output. I know there is (used to be?) a switch in MkIV for toggling this but can't find it. (BTW: I miss the searchable mail archives on the ConTeXt Garden...) For LaTex there exists a tool, named "latexmk", which allows a "preview continuous mode", that is to update the compiled pdf automatically. It is really very helpful! Because it is open-source: It is possible to addapt this tool for context, too? Maybe one of the programmers have time for this ... :)

textext sync problem?

I am using textext to draw text from inside a metapost program. The drawoptions macro is used by metapost to set drawing options such as color. As I understand, the textext call is handled by the tex-side of the metapost-context system, initiated of course from the metapost side. My impression is that this occurs asynchronously, judging by the problem I encountered. On the metapost side I have: drawoptions(withcolor blue); pic := textext(labeltext); drawoptions(); % the pic is output later [cid:3EBB8ADD-F7B8-4DE1-8990-9EB0E0F45EF6@fritz.box] Deleting the reset implied by the second drawoptions does honor the coloring: drawoptions(withcolor blue); pic := textext(labeltext); [cid:8813D244-4326-4F4A-8520-3C704619954C@fritz.box] I am inclined to conclude that the calling environment containing the drawoptions setting is not captured the moment the textext call is placed, but somewhat later. Because so it can be explained why the latter has the blue color but the former does not (drawoptions has already been reset before it is taken into account). The following code variation seems to corroborate this conclusion: drawoptions(withcolor blue); pic := textext(labeltext); drawoptions(withcolor darkgreen); [cid:415E4344-B8AA-492B-B320-D57D405462EB@fritz.box] If the conclusion is correct, I have a serious problem, because it then becomes impossible to predictably change the drawoptions used by textext. The result then might be dependent on timing conditions in the system. In my opinion, calling textext should capture all relevant data at the precise moment of the call in metapost. I have a couple of questions: - *Styling.* Is custom styling required to format bullet or numbered lists in the resulting EPUB XHTML document? - *Knowledge.* Would anyone be willing to share their experiences (and tips) for transforming ConTeXt documents to EPUB? - *Examples.* Where can I find examples of simple and complex ConTeXt documents being converted to EPUB documents having a similar layout? Hi all, We have the small self-contained example below, in which text flows around a graphic. The graphic is aligned with the upper-left corner of the text paragraph (despite \setuphanging[location=right]). We would very much like to have the graphic align with the lower right corner of the paragraph. I've played around with your module and ran into some problems which may have been due to my inexperiencedness with ConTeXt (rupturing of ligatures, at least with Scheherazade and inconsistent line height). Marco has been helping me though, and it looks like he solved those problems while improving on your module while doing so. Problem with horizontal space in List of Figures

Dear list, Using Hans' nice method to place in a document several figures with the same number, separated by text or on different pages, I run into difficulties with the List of Figures. Apparently ConTeXt does not make enough space to accommodate the figure numbers and the groupsuffix, as the example shows. (Sorry for the large number of figures but I needed a double digit number of them to show the problem. None of the other elements, titles, captions etc. has any significance for this problem.) In this problem the chosen font, Verdana, seems to be an essential factor. With many sans fonts there is no problem, for example not with Iwona, Arila, Helvetica, Calibri. Optima, Trebuchet MS. But others, for example Lucida Sans and Sathu give the same problem as Verdana. Unfortunately I have to use Verdana for my project. What can I do to create a little more space for the first column of the List of Figures? Thanks in advance for any advice. MetaPost label direction prefix

Hi, what is the reason the label direction prefix variables (rt, bot, llft, etc.) are prefixed with mpfun_ in MkIV (mp-mlib.mpiv)? When new directional prefixes are being defined it fails when mplib is used unless the mpfun_ prefix is added. And likewise, code using the mpfun_ prefix fails on traditional MetaPost. Is this prefix required? It breaks old code and required a branch in every new project. And I don't really see a reason for this incompatibility. section headings on a grid: less space above?

Hello, I'm using mkii to typeset a document with grid layout. I'm trying to configure the formatting of the subsection headings. I have the following setuphead: \setuphead[subsection][number=no,style={\switchtobodyfont[SansB,\subheadersize]},grid=top] This works successfully in that the lines below the heading are aligned to the grid. But what I'm trying to change is the fact that 4 grid lines are taken up by the heading: approximately two blank lines above, and one below. The requirement is to use 3 grid lines. I know how to move the heading text down within the space: grid=3pt does that. But I can't figure out how to reduce the number of lines above the heading text. The document at http://www.pragma-ade.com/general/manuals/details.pdf says that the "top" option (as in grid=top) means "add/remove an extra line to the top". But in my experimenting, the presence or absence of "top" seems to make no difference. I also tried: grid={broad,low} grid={fit,low} grid={line,3pt} grid=standard no "grid" setting at all but none of these seems to reduce the total amount of vertical space taken up by the heading. Can somebody tell me how to do this? E.g. how to make the "top" option "remove an extra line" on top? Seems like I didn’t need Russian lyrics since the removal of Cyrillic glyphs from TeX Gyre. But now I do. What would you do? Is there an illegal "complete" version around, or can you suggest a replacement (and tell me how to setup ConTeXt to take that font for all Cyrillic letters)? Typesetting Classical Arabic Poetry

Dear list, for better or worse, I'm trying to typeset Arabic poetry in ConTeXt after having become fed up with LaTeX for a variety of reasons. Arabic script itself is not a problem and I already love how easy it is to use whatever font you like and how clean ConTeXt seems to be in its design. What is giving me trouble, though, is the face that traditionally, poetry needs to be typeset in two columns. Using an English poem for an example, it'd look a little bit like this: Said Rich Accetta-Evans: 1 My poem delights me 2 My poem is mine 3 It is like fresh bread 4 When I bake it myself 5 It is like my son 6 The day he was born [...] This is to be read in the order of the numbers, so "columns" or "simplecolumns" won't work (I think). The second problem is the way in which Arabic needs to be justified, namely not by adjusting the space between words, but instead by adjusting the connecting line between letters: قال أبو الطيب أحمد بن الحسين المتنبّي أنـا الـذي نـظر الأعمى إلـى أدبي وأسمعـت كـلماتــي مـن به صمم كم تـطلبون لـنا عيبًـا فــيعجزكم ويكره المجد ما تأتـون والكرم ما أبعـد العيب والنقصان عن شرفي أنا الثّريا وذان الشيب والهرم [...] I couldn't find any info on either of these two questions through the documentation or through Google (although I might have been looking for the wrong keywords). Hidden sections

Hello all, We are writing a magazine with my friends and I am going to typeset it with ConTEXt. It works fine but I ran into the problem with heads. In our magazine articles will be grouped in sections (e.g. poetry, short stories, programming). I need to hide section heads in text but to show them in TOC and page headers. So there will be no „Poetry“ head in text but „Poetry“ will be shown in page header and TOC. Unfortunately, the trick from http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Titles#Flushing_ section_head_data_without_typesetting_them_in_the_text seems to not work for me. Thanks for help. -- Mikoláš Štrajt

Feature Request: define colour in relation to existing colour

Hi, What would it take to extend \definecolor so that: \definecolor[ColourA][ColourB][t=0.5, a=1] defines a new colour (ColourB) based on an existing colour (ColourA)? I know that \definespotcolor[ColourA][ColourB][t=0.5, a=1] works, but it seems like \definecolor would also be a natural fit. Kind regards.

Feature Request: showframe debugging

Hi, \showframe [ labels=on, measurements=on, color=red, ] Would produce an image similar to the attached, but with the black lines drawn in the specified colour. Using labels=on would show the names of the items that can be changed with \setuplayout. Using measurements=on would show the values for each of the items. I don't know if there is any value separating the measurements from the labels. Thank you!

Em dash using Hoefler

Hopefully, this is the correct list for this question. I'm trying to typeset documents using the font Hoefler on MacOSX (10.8.4) with ConTeXt 2013.05.28 from the TeXlive 2013 distribution. All works, but unfortunately, em dashes are not typeset correctly; there are three dashes instead of a continuous line. I'm obviously missing something and would appreciate help in correcting this. A minimal example that produces the error is: \usetypescriptfile[osx] \usetypescript[hoefler] \setupbodyfont[hoefler,11pt] \starttext A test of Hoefler at 10 pt. The emdash--- does not work... \stoptext files are compiled using "context myfile.tex" Thanks. __martin.

Dear all, I encountered a problem with TexLive 2013 context. The problem persisted with the context beta. With LuaTex version beta-0.77.0-2013081719 (rev 4640) and ConTeXt ver: 2013.08.18 18:32 MKIV beta fmt: 2013.8.20 int: english/english I compiled: \starttext \chapter{c-titel} \section{s1-titel} <text> \placefigure[none,left]{}{\externalfigure[c:/context/tekeningen/hemelbol.pdf][height=6cm]} <text> \placefigure[none,left]{}{\externalfigure[c:/context/tekeningen/afplatting.pdf][height=4cm]} <text> \section{s2-title} <text> \stoptext The figures were placed in the middle of the page and the text did not wrap around the figures. Hey, The following does not work correctly in the current beta. It seems like the "1" is parsed as a part of "(". Inserting a space between ( and 1 makes the example work. \starttext \startformula \left(1 - \right) \stopformula \stoptext Most of the fonts produce nothing for \left(1, cambria produces some weird symbol. -- Janne

Problem with context in windows

Hi, I installed conTeXt in windows following the steps in the website http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Windows_Installation:_ConTeXt_Suite_with_S ciTe#Install_SciTe I have a PC with windows 7, ruby is already installed, and I have MikeTex 2.9 already installed and as text editor WinEdt. To test if everything work, I created a file Test.tex \starttext Test \stoptext When I executed it in WinEdt I didn't have any error message, however, there is no PDF file created for the Test.tex file [ConTeXt Compilation Report (Pages: 0), Errors : 0]. In a command-line window (cmd) I tried the command context to see what is the problem: I got the following message: warnings no lua configuration files found no texmf paths are defined <using TEXMF> I tried also texexec command and I got the following message: mtxrun ! kpse fallback with programme `context` initialized in 0.062 seconds Any Help Please! Trouble with editors on Mac

Hi! I updated my ConTeXt installation today and now it refuses to work with TextMate and TeXworks. When I use the typesetting command on either editor, I get the error message mtxrun | unknown script 'context.lua' or 'mtx-context.lua' The weird thing is that my ConTeXt standalone installation works on command line (with "context myfile.tex"). I've used TextMate for a year and did not change anything there. Both editors also have my ConTeXt directory /Applications/ConTeXt/tex/texmf-osx-64/bin/context as PATH variable (I got a different error message on TeXworks before I edited the path variable to include ConTeXt). So in theory everything should be fine... I first installed the newest ConTeXt and when it gave the above error message, I switched to latest "stable" version (installation with --context=current), but that didn't make any difference. My previous installation was at least 3 months old, possibly quite a bit older. This problem is not critical as I can use TextMate/TeXworks as editor and compile on command line in Terminal, but it is a bit of a nuisance not to be able to use the typesetting command in the editor. Dear All, Hello, I am trying to use Persian digits in math formulas. My document reads: \font\4 = {name:dejavusans} at 10pt \font\5 = {name:dejavusans} at 7pt \font\6 = {name:dejavusans} at 5pt \textfont4=\4 \scriptfont4=\5 \scriptscriptfont4=\6 \Umathcode`3="1"4`۳ \definefontfeature [persian] [arabic] \mainlanguage[pe] \starttext \definedfont[dejavusans*persian] \setupalign[r2l] این یک آزمایش است. 3+2=5 $3+2=5$ \setupalign[l2r] This is a test. 3+2=5 $3+2=5$ \stoptext However in the output the replaced digit "3" disappears.
