memoir-style chapter heading

Am completely new to using Metafun, which I presume I would need to use to achieve a Hansen Memoir-style Chapter heading (chapter title overlayed on a large lightgray number). Of course, I am assuming I would need to use Metafun to create this... So my first question is to ask if I could achieve the same effect without Metafun? I have read through the Metafun manual, and I think I can understand how to overlay text on a graphic (MP), but it would be currently beyond me to draw numbers of the kind we find in, say, the Memoir examples. Has anyone created such an example? I was keenly looking for one in the manual and elsewhere, in terms of ConTeXt/Metafun commands, but could not find one. But I'd be quite prepared to 'have a go' at this, if I had some pointers of just where to start! I assume I would have to \defineoverlay[number] and then add text on top \framed (but without the frame borders). Am I at least correct about this? Julian

Same counter for figures as theorems

Hi all, I’ve a text where chapters are numbered 1, 2, 3, … and sections 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, … Now I’d like all elements (figures, tables, examples, definitions, theorems, …) to be numbered consecutively prefixed by the chapter and section number, so 1.1.1, 1.1.2, 1.2.1, ... I’ve managed to change figure/table captions to do this by: \setupcaptions[ way=bysection, prefixsegments=chapter:section, ] And I’ve setup my enumerations by: \setupenumerations[ way=bysection, prefix=yes, prefixsegments=chapter:section, ] But how do I use the same counter for figures, tables, and all enumerations? Trying to share a counter with: \definecounter[object][ way=bysection, prefix=yes, prefixsegments=chapter:section, ] \setupenumerations[ counter=object, ] \setupcaptions[ counter=object, ] Results in enumerations numbered 1, 2, 3, ... instead of 1.1.1, 1.1.2, 1.1.3, … And figures and tables are still numbered in the default way. A dumb question about MetaFun

Hi list! A simple question: is there an equivalent of thetextext for a normal picture (an "image(draw ... ;)")? I want to move the center of a picture to an specific point, like this: \startMPpage draw thetextext("\tttf hello", origin) ; draw unitsquare scaled 1cm; \stopMPpage The "hello" is centered at the origin. I want to achieve the same result for pictures. I've seen such a command some time ago, but I've forgotten and I cannot find it again in documentation. Thanks and sorry for any inconvenience. Missing graphic in MPpage when viewing in Apple MAC Preview or GIMP 2.10 but not Adobe

Dear List I have come across a problem which I don't think is due to ConTeXt but I'm hopping the great and the good of this list may be able to explain what is going on. The code below produces an MPpage with a shaded background and two graphics along with a line of outlined text. When I view in Adobe (or the output from TeXworks) I see everything as it should be. However, I wanted to convert the MPpage to a jpeg file and when I opened the pdf in either Apple MAC Preview or Gimp 2.10 the two graphics are missing, and I have no idea why. Could someone explain a way round this? Here is the code. Hi list! I have some questions about the template used by module documentation. When I apply context --extra=module t-mymodule.mkvi --autopdf I obtain a nice file, but, among other things, 1) the cover page seems to be a bit... greenish? So I want to know how to customize it, at least at a minimum, and 2) \showframe is enabled by default. How to disable it? Maybe 1) can answer 2) too. Thank you very much. Cordially, Jairo :)

compilation error in LMTX

Dear list, compiling a huge XML document (output PDF > 1200 pages), I get the following error with latest current (2020.08.11 15:59): pages > flushing realpage 187, userpage 187, subpage 3 mtx-context | fatal error: return code: 139 Compilation failed. Some hints about what I cannot avoid considering a cryptic error message: 1. There is no previous warning when compiling previous pages. 1. The compulation error appears on the third run. 1. ConTeXt latest from 2020.08.07 23:37 compiles this just fine. Sorry, there is no minimal sample here. Any ideas about this? Or at least, any chances for the source that is breaking compilation? \scantokens in luametatex

Hi, in the current luametatex upload, \scantokens (and also \scantextokens) behave odd: They seem to act like \detokenize, except that spaces get catcode other instead of catcode space: \starttext \edef\abc{\scantokens{\relax}} \abc \edef\abc{\scantextokens{\relax}} \abc \stoptext used to result in an empty output file but with luametatex, it writes \relax \relax to the output. \starttext \def\showsecond#1{\show} \edef\abc{\scantokens{a b}} \expandafter\showsecond\abc \edef\abc{\detokenize{a b}} \expandafter\showsecond\abc \stoptext prints > the character > blank space Best regard, Marcel Krüger

Embedding fonts from a file

Hello, About a year ago, I asked on this list how to embed OpenType fonts from files (that is, use fonts that are not installed on the system), because one of my projects needed portability (be entirely contained in one directory that I could share). I was given a great answer by Hans and this minimal example ``` \starttext % \ctxlua{fonts.names.addruntimepath("./myfonts")} \ctxlua{os.setenv("RUNTIMEFONTS","./myfonts")} Hello World! \definefont[myfont][file:myfont.otf] {\myfont Hello World!} \stoptext ``` This worked beautifully (with some caveats, like having to clear the cache regularly), but for some reason, it stopped working. I don't know exactly when, because I haven't compiled that project in months, and in the meantime I reinstalled Linux. But now, all embedded fonts are not loading and I get "'fallback modern-designsize rm 12pt' is loaded" as an error message. Any assistance would be appreciated. Krešimir
