Metafun: is it possible to redefine dotlabel to draw a square ?

Hi all, In Metafun when representing a point I woul dlike to have some dots represented by a square (or even by another scalable symbol): for instance in the following I would like the dot at the point B to be a square: \starttext \startMPcode draw (2cm,3cm) -- (3cm,5cm) ; dotlabel(textext("\switchtobodyfont[8pt]" & "A"), (2cm,3cm)) withpen pencircle scaled 12pt withcolor transparent("exclusion",.5,red) ; dotlabel(textext("\switchtobodyfont[8pt]" & "B"), (3cm,5cm)) withpen pencircle scaled 12pt withcolor transparent("exclusion",.5,red) ; \stopMPcode \stoptext I wonder whether it is possible to define something like « drawsquaredot » or « squaredotlabel » in order to do this. If I use for B the command withpen pensquare scaled 12pt then the dot is a square, but the label B is drawn in a strange way. Thanks for any help: Otared

LMTX, repeated caption

Dear list, In some unclear circumstances, a figure caption is repeated above the figure, as with the following example. ====================== \starttext \placefigure {This caption shouldn't be repeated} {\hbox{anything here}} \stoptext ====================== The caption is not repeated for all figures. With a longer caption or a wider figure, the bug disappears. My guess is that it is triggered by a certain ratio between caption length and figure width! I hope this helps. Metafun: how to draw a straight line past the end points

Hi, I have a silly question: given two points in the plane z1 = (1cm,3cm) ; z2 = (5cm, 9cm) ; the command draw z1 -- z2 withpen pencircle scaled .5pt ; draws the line segment joining z1 and z2. How could I draw the line segment which goes a little further (say 1cm) than both the end points of this segment (that is in this example, a point before z1 and a point after z2 on the straight line) . Indeed it is possible to write the equation of the line and then compute by hand the coordinates of the new end points, but I think there is a simpler way in Metafun to do this. Automatically setting the value of list key in annotation module

Hi, In the annotation module, is it possible to automatically set the value of the `list` key to be the same as the value of `title` key (as is the case with \startsection, for example). Here is a non-working example: \usemodule[annotation] \defineannotation[test][alternative=paragraph] \starttext \placelist[test][criterium=all] \starttest[title={This is a title}] \input ward \stoptest \starttest[title={This is another title}, list={This is in the 2nd list}] \input ward \stoptest I want the first title to also be added to the list. image align in \clip

Dear all, I use \clip to simplify working with images. I have a problem that I am unable to reproduce in a MWE. \setupexternalfigure[location=default] \showframe \starttext \externalfigure[cow.pdf][width=\textwidth] \clip[height=50mm] {\externalfigure[cow.pdf][width=\textwidth]} \stoptext In my real document the clipped image is shifted to the right as if indented by 1em or so. Any hints where to look for the reason? TIA juh

Quirk with \userpagenumber, datasets and the .tuc file

Here's an odd quirk... I wanted to get at some of my dataset data for use outside of ConTeXt so I thought I would just extract it from the .tuc file. MWE: \definedataset [MyDS][delay=yes] \starttext \input tufte \setdataset [MyDS] [ title={Test title}, page={\userpagenumber}, ] \stoptext In the TUC file I get: utilitydata.job.datasets.collected={ ["MyDS"]={ { ["index"]=1, ["order"]=1, ["page"]="1\\relax ", ["realpage"]=1, ["title"]="Test title", }, }, } Note the \\relax following the page number. This isn't a problem for me at the moment but I wondered if it is something that needs to be looked at? -- Bruce Horrocks Hampshire, UK

not working command in LMTX

Dear list, I have the following sample: \definecounter[minpagecounter][way=bypage] \def\minipagecounter {\incrementcounter[minpagecounter][1] \rawcounter[minpagecounter]} \starttext \dontleavehmode\dorecurse{4}{\minipagecounter\\} \stoptext LMTX gives only 0 as values. MkIV increments the counter. I know that something has changed in the command definition in LMTX, but I don’t know what I have to do to adapt it for this case. Spacing in s-pre-50 (or better alternatives)

Hi everyone. I've tried using s-pre-50 for a series of "Beamer-like" presentations. An example: \usemodule[s-pre-50] \starttext \StartSteps \starttitle[title=Random speak party] \FlushStep \input jojomayer \FlushStep Cows and lovebirds are nice. \FlushStep Food smells weird after COVID-19. \FlushStep \CONTEXT\ rocks.\FlushStep \stoptitle \StopSteps \stoptext How should I adjust spacing between steps? With \startitemize ... \stopitemize, spacing options such as "packed" seem to be ignored. Although I love JavaScript animations, I need a PDF > PNG (> WEBM/MP4) flow and s-pre-50 is the only environment which fits my current needs. Any suggestions or alternatives? Thank you in advance. issue with line breaking and images

Hi Hans, I have the following MWE: \setupexternalfigures[location=default] \starttext \dontleavehmode \dorecurse{80}{\externalfigure[cow][width=.075\textwidth] } \stoptext MkIV does break the lines to compose a paragraph, but LMTX doesn’t use the space to break. In fact, it doesn’t add the space. There is a simple workaround for that (explicitly adding "\ " between the closing bracket and the closing brace). But I wonder whether this might point to a more general issue in LMTX (or my lack of understanding of MkXL). Mnay thanks for your help, Pablo -- http://www.ousia.tk

Confusion with fonts

I've got a small ConTeXt source file, that is a minimization of a file generated by the the ConTeXt output of pandoc using pandoc features to set the main font to ebgaramond: \definefallbackfamily[mainface][rm][CMU Serif][preset=range:greek, force=yes] \definefontfamily[mainface][rm][ebgaramond] \definefontfamily[mainface][mm][Latin Modern Math] \definefontfamily[mainface][ss][Latin Modern Sans] \definefontfamily[mainface][tt][Latin Modern Typewriter][features=none] \setupbodyfont[mainface] \starttext Is this text in Pagella? \stoptext When I run it through context it works and produces output that uses the EBGaramond font. The following also work: antykwapoltawskiego, asana, cambria, charter, ebgaramond, gentium, inconsolata, iwona, kurier, lato, punknova, stix, and xits. But other things, like palatino and pagella and dejavu. Those end up using Latin Modern Roman. I realize I don't understand ConTeXt's font handling and typescripts very well, could someone explain why some of those things work, and others don't? I'll note that pandoc generates this because it lets users of pandoc specify different fonts for the main body font, the math font, the sans font, and the mono font.
