Selecting a page as a figure from a pdf

All, I am aware of \filterpages but I would like to be able to insert part of a single page from a multi page pdf and I have not been able to find anything on the list of manuals. (\clip does not seem to work with \filterpages). Does anybody have any ideas? TIA -- Nigel

MP figures in the background

Hi, I'm doing a christmars card in ConTeXt!. I've the following setup \setuppapersize[CD][A4] \setuplayout[marking=on,location=middle] \starttext \startuseMPgraphic{dummy} ... ... \stopuseMPgraphic \defineoverlay[backfigure][\useMPgraphic{dummy}] \setupbackground[paper][background=backfigure] \hbox{} \stoptext I need the \hbox{} because there has to be something to typeset. The next thing i want to do is to have a second page. I use the \page[yes] command. The problem is that with this the background apears to in the second page, and i don't want that. How can i define a background figure only for certain page? Thanks in advance, Zunbeltz

Converting Latex style files for use in Context

MetaPost with etex/btex

Hello, The following code results in no label output: \starttext \startMPcode label.top(btex Some label etex, (1cm,1cm)) ; \stopMPcode \stoptext I'm using ConTeXt 2003.12.12. By the way, why don't \startMPgraphic and \stopMPgraphic do anything? David

texexec page selection changes output?

(Sorry if this is the wrong list, I could not find a better one.) I recently used texexec to select a given page from a file (attached) of three pages: texexec --pdfselect --selection=2 --result=cover2-tx.pdf covers.pdf It worked fine, but bnb noticed that the resulting cover2-tx.pdf was different then the original: it is offset to the right by a pica or so, and the "TUGboat" is moved down a similar amount. When I extract the same page from the same file with gs: gs -q -dNOPAUSE -sDEVICE=pdfwrite -sOutputFile=cover2-gs.pdf \ -dFirstPage=2 -dLastPage=2 covers.pdf -c quit the result is correct, i.e., the extracted page is identical (as far as I can tell) to the original. This happens with texexec 4.0 (and also with 2.8 and 3.1). This is just FYI in case it's a bug you want to fix ... karl

Hello, I know this topic was treated in the past years, but I couldn't find the answer in mailing list archives. So, is there any ConTeXt equivalent to LaTeX's \psfrag command? It would be very useful to process PostScript output from vector graphics drawing programs. David

Struggles with the bTABLE eTABLE environment

Hi Hans, Currently I am using the following version under Windows: ConTeXt ver: 2003.11.26 fmt: 2003.11.27 int: english mes: english and pdfeTeXk, Version 3.141592-1.11a-2.1 The attached code-sample breaks with an error of "missing number". Because I am sure, that this kind of table compiled previously I tried the following Next to the current installation I run on a linuxbox ConTeXt ver: 2003.7.3 fmt: 2003.7.7 int: english mes: english without problem and pdfeTeX, Version 3.14159-1.00b-pretest-20020211-2.1 The attached code compiles to expectation. Is there something changed in the bTABLE-eTABLE environment? Thanks for looking into it. Kind regards Willi

Hi ConteXers, Does somebody have done a quiz , like the ones found in "exerquiz " pdftex package (now bundled in "acrotex") from d.p. Story (info/exemples at http://melusine.eu.org/syracuse/acrotex/exemples/ (in french) or from the origin, in english at http://www.math.uakron.edu/~dpstory/acrotex.html) What interesting me a lot is the abilty for the reader to auto-evaluate himself. I wish to setup a whole course including theorical + exercises + auto evaluation, both (as possible) in screen and paper versions. Thanks for the tip. Olivier

double lines in tables?

Is there a way to create tables with double horizontal lines in ConTexXt? Using: \HL \HL Just causes ConTeXt to ignore one of them. William D. Can I compare with someone?

All, I've recently installed tetex 2.0.2. I am having difficulty with Metapost and I am wondering if I have a good installation. If someone else out there is running tetex 2.0.2, could you try the following on your system and tell me if you get similar results. Also, if I'm making some sort of silly mistake, please let me know. I have a little file named junk.mp. beginfig(1); path p; p:=fullcircle scaled 100pt; draw p; endfig; end. But when I compile, I still get 12pt. And the culprit seems to be: bodyfont : 12pt rm is loaded I tried the following workaround by editing junk.mp. But, mpost junk produces this error message: ! Undefined control sequence. l.1 \documentclass [10pt]{article} So, I try: mpost --tex=latex junk But now my system tries to build cont-en.fmt. Toward the end, one message I get is: Sorry, I can't find the format `cont-en.fmt'; will try `context.fmt'. But this doesn't make sense, as cont-en.efmt is already built.
