finding cont-en.fmt

arrows and other symbols

Dear list members, When I needed arrows (e.g. for pyruvate ----> lactate or pyruvate <----> lactate I first tried on my own (\arrow, $\arrow$ $\ar$ etc.) without success. I then found "The comprehensive Latex Symbol List" by Scott Parkin and tried various combinations of \usemodule[modulename] and the commands listed, with our without $$. Some worked, some didn't. I do have what I need at the moment, but would like to know: 1. Is this the way to do it in Context? 2. Is there a recommended or particularly comprehensive module that covers a maximum number of symbols (I successfully tried "ams" and "wasysym" so far? 3. It's a slightly confusing one - this behaviour is actually controlled via the \setupsection command, which deals with the high-level behaviour of sectioning commands like \chapter and (confusingly!) \section. The setup you want is \setupsection[section-3][previousnumber=no] The rationale is that \part is section-1, \chapter is section-2 and \section is section-3. See the manual entry for \setupsection for more info. Duncan

Differnce between context and latex math

Hi, I am trying to move from latex to context, but it seems that the defaults of both differ. Consider the following \defineenumeration [theorem] [ headstyle=bold, style=italic, location=hanging, text=Theorem, between=\blank ] \starttext \starttheorem This is a test \placeformula \startformula a = b \stopformula And the test continues. Notice that the equation number is in \type{\it} and not in \type{\upshape}. \stoptheorem \stoptext Notice that the equation number is italic. Compare this with something similar in latex \documentclass{article} \newtheorem{theorem}{Theorem} \begin{document} \begin{theorem} This is a test \begin{equation} a = b \end{equation} And the test continues. Notice that the equation number is in \verb|\upshape| and not in \verb|\it|. \end{theorem} \end{document} Here the equation number is in upshape. In latex equation numbers are always in upshape irrespective of the font type of the surrounding text. How can I get the same with context. Thanks -- Aditya Mahajan

In any event, testing only locally I can now produce the following results: As long as I have either '\enableregime[utf]' or '\useXMLfilter[utf]' then the é produces an e with a guillemot superimposed on top (this is wrong - I wanted an e with an acute accent). If I don't have either of those commands in the preamble, then I get Ãl, which looks like the literal unicode as two ASCII chars. Interestingly, if I forget about unicode and use é instead of é, then no matter what I put in the preamble I get the e with a guillemot superimposed. So whatever is mapping é incorrectly seems also to be mapping é incorrectly. Unfortunately none of this is the behaviour I originally experienced in my large project file, which was stalling the process with the following error: ! Accents in MathML

Hello all. I'm processing some Spanish from Unicode and some of it is in MathML, for which I use ConTeXt's native processing. There seems to be a problem with accents. When I run this on Live: -- \mainlanguage[es]\enableregime[utf]\useencoding[uc] \useXMLfilter[utf]\usemodule[mathml] \starttext Maths with accents: \startXMLdata <formula><math><mtext>interés</mtext></math></formula>\stopXMLdata \stoptext -- it fails because of the é (which is an e with an acute accent, in case the mail system turns it into gobbledgook). Vertical alignment in tables

I’d like to have a table like this: 1 2 3 -------------------------------------------- Pic- ture- spanning- Centered1 Centered2 some- lines -------------------------------------------- Another- Picture- spanning- Centered1 Centered2 some- lines The first column contains a figure using \externalfigure. I want the following two columns to be vertically centered in the space that the picture occupies in each row of the table. A quick response would be preferable, as I really should hand in the paper containing the above table by tomorrow.
