Hi everybody, I wish to set up kind of a "learning path" (= "pedagogic" progression bar, like in http://www.dokeos.com/scorm_compliant_course_content.php) in the inner margin of documents issued of a project/product/component structure. Ideally, this learning path will look like 2 full bars with percentage indication, one for project, the other for product. I've seen progression spots in Hans'presentations, but far from able to reproduce them. I'm thinking that those indicators get their names "automatically", on each new component or product made under a same project, either via a variable mecanisme or another one I don't know yet. Graphically, the whole mecanism must stay in a light color to not overcome the content. TIA for any answer -- Olivier TURLIER

MathML: Spacing bug

Salvete, afaics, the following three mathml snippets encode exactly the same thing: ---[1]------------ <mrow> <mi>a</mi> <mo>::</mo> <mi>b</mi> </mrow> ---[2]------------ <mrow> <mi>a</mi> <mo>::</mo> <mi>b</mi> </mrow> ---[3]------------ <mrow> <mi>a</mi><mo>::</mo><mi>b</mi> </mrow> However, I only get the expected output from the third version. German ß

Hello, i have some problems with an selfcreated typescriptfile. Until one of the last context-updates everythin works fine. The font I use is from the hfbright package (the hfbright package is a free version of the cmbright font) but when I created that typescript I did't relalize that a full font package was available and I renamed the fonts (therefore I will not provide that ugly typescript file here). I don't know what has changed but the german ß is not working any more. I use as font encoding ec and as regime win. I'm a bit confused where exactly my problem lies: either the encoding is wrong, but I do't know which one is right because in the latex package hfbright the encoding is called OT1. Has anyone an idea how to fix this problem or can anyone help me to set up a context module like the hfbright-module? Many thanks Wolfgang

I followed the instructions on: <http://wiki.contextgarden.net/TeTeX_3.0_installation>. I even purged out the old tetex packages before doing the apt-get install. My question: Should I move the file, for example, /usr/share/texmf/web2c/texmf.cnf to /usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf-dist/tex/context/base/context.tex or use a link from one to the other? Or, just leave it alone. My assumption is that the Debian package management system takes care of these things. Chinese in utf-8

Hi all. I have ConTeXt set up to output Chinese using usemodule[chinese], all fonts, encodings and maps are installed and the sample file works well. Now I have a whole load of Chinese text in utf-8 encoding. Can ConTeXt process this, or do I have to convert it to another encoding? I tried \enableregime[utf] and \useencoding[uc] but it just produced black blobs instead of Chinese characters. I hope ConTeXt can do it? :-) Thanks, Duncan

Thanks Mojca, Nothing changed adding the lines you wrote, also with permutation. Arabic transliteration macros

Dear syndicate, I have been using some ugly/naive macros for scientific transliteration of Arabic up to now. I recently overhauled these after studying the enco-def.tex method. These might be useful for others who have to transliterate Arabic. (I have written my own scientific transliteration by the way, based on the German ZDMG system:) http://www.gsp-online.org/journals/journaldocs/shi/transliteration.pdf imacron occurs very frequently in Arabic transliteration, in virtually every system. In Latin Modern the macron on the `i' is too large and looks really bad when used frequently. I've redefined it, and would suggest that, for lmr anyway, that something like the imacron definition below works much better than the default. On the other hand, I need to make the imacron definition more general to include the bold case (which needs a thicker macron). How can I add a conditional to the macro definition of \itextmacron so that it selects its argument based on whether \tf (and the like) or \bf (and the like) is in effect? I wish that TeX had a simple \iffont test but maybe there is an easy way to do that? If there are any other suggestions or comments to improve or streamline this, please let me know. dvipdfmx-reminder for next version

Dear Hans and the rest of the gang, This is just a friendly reminder for the next ConTeXt version. There is a bug in the ctxtools. Consider the original-public-lm.map. Lines such as cmbsy10 cmbsy10 cmbsy5 cmbsy5 cmbsy6 cmbsy7 should become either cmbsy10 default cmbsy10 cmbsy5 default cmbsy5 cmbsy6 default cmbsy7 partucularly when the name of the tfm and pfb do differ; or just cmbsy10 cmbsy5 cmbsy6 where the name of the tfm and pfb do NOT differ. Otherwise dvipdfmx will fail-( Probably easier to just do <tfm> <default> <pfb> for all cases...
