Varying indentations

Hello list, Is there a way to obtain a differrent indentation for the first paragraph, than all the following ones? I would like the first to be indented by 0.5\textwidth and all the others by 1 pica. Many thanks in advance Piotr -- http://okle.pl

Passing variables into context

Hi all, I've been trying to make a metapost graphic, based on the \textwidth. However, it seems I can't just pass in \textwidth as an option. For example, the following breaks: \startuniqueMPgraphic{HLine} draw origin -- (\MPvar{width}, 0mm); \stopuniqueMPgraphic \starttext \setupMPvariables[HLine][width=\textwidth] \uniqueMPgraphic{HLine} \stoptext with the following error: mplib | mp terminal: >> textwidth ! Undefined x coordinate has been replaced by 0. <to be read again> ; <*> ...d:=3441; draw origin -- (\textwidth , 0mm); It seems that the \textwidth option is not expanded before being passed to MP. Is there any way to force this expansion? I've tried \expandafter (without really understanding what that does), but that didn't help. I've tried putting this graphic as an overlay under an \framed, which allows me to use the \overlaywidth macro in metapost (which I assume is expanded specially by context?). This worked, but is not very elegant. Is there something more straightforward possible? Gr. Matthijs

Hi, I just want to define a reference like like wikipedia reference entries. Something like Text\wikiref[\from[this] it's best like that] text \listofwikiref and show wikirefs like "^[number]". I'm sure it's possible ;-) but how to define it?. Any helps? Xan.

What does hangsidefloat do?

Hi all, I've been fiddling around with floats a bit, and seeing a lot of references to "hangsidefloat". It seems to be the solution to all sorts of floating problems, but I can't really see what it _does_. Looking around the source doesn't really tell me either, so anyone care to tell me what it does and what its numeric argument means? Gr. Matthijs

bibtex referencelist doesn't show up with mkiv

Hi All! Dear all, it seems that \sub don't get along very well with the option "continue". At least, the behavior is different in mkii and mkiv. end footnotes before new chapter starts?

Hi, is there a way to end ("flush") footnotes of a chapter before the next chapters starts? Please have a look at this double-page spread below, please: http://werksatz.com/attachments/spread.pdf Footnote no. 37 should be the first footnote that is printed under the footnote line of the first page of the new chapter (right). This is even more important/annoying when footnote numbering starts at "1" with a new chapter!! Steffen (at MkII)

\pagereference changes spacing in displayed formula

Using a \pagereference in a displayed formula slightly changes the horizontal spacing. The shift is small, roughly the thickness of an integral sign. I don't know whether that's considered a bug. Here is the test file. The control test file is the same but without the \pagereference line. \starttext \startformula \pagereference[one]% \int \stopformula \stoptext I noticed the problem on my laptop (Debian, TeXLive 2007, ConTeXt 2008.10.31 13:58) and on the live ConTeXt just now. I found the deviation using the pdf-compare.sh script included below. German language settings

Hi, anybody at any time should add the appropriate settings for German to the lang-ger.tex file: \unprotect \setuplabeltext [\s!de] [\v!page=Seite~] \setuplabeltext [\s!de] [\v!atpage=auf Seite~] \setuplabeltext [\s!de] [\v!hencefore=oben] \setuplabeltext [\s!de] [\v!hereafter=unten] \protect \setuplanguage [de] [lefthyphenmin=2,righthyphenmin=3] \setuphyphenmark[sign=normal] This is no major problem, but it is inconvenient to have to add the settings each and any time when you make a new document, or to have a corrrection file in your texmf-local (not the proper way). The lefthyphenmin=2 may be subject to discuss, but in real life this is the way we separate words. I know that it was considered ugly by some people/insitutions, but I think these considerations are rather obsolete. Set it to 3 if your doc has >90 letters/line in general. But this shouldn't be the default setting. Think of all the prefixed verbs 'ergreifen', 'erstatten' etc. It *may* lead to *some* unwanted separations, but this should be handled by the hyphenation patterns. Best wishes Thomas
