I guess I am a bit stupid, but I do not understand how to process xml in ConTeXt. I started working through the contextXML-example.pdf from the Pragma site. What is the relation between the <xsl:template>-definitions and the xml-processing, because these data show up in the result? What is in this respect the function of macros like \defineXMLenvironment, etc? From the example document I cannot infer the relation between these and the <xsl:template>-definitions. I finally got Context to install (correctly, I think), and I'm trying to set up a profile for it in TeXnicCenter. Margin terminology -- badly documented, undocumented, or misdocumented

Hi all. I am trying to understand the terminology for the \definelayout and \setuplayout commands. Unfortunately the documentation at http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Layoutdoesn't correspond to the actual output I get. Nor does the 'documentation' at http://getfo.org/context_xml/page3.html , which the first page recommends. More, the two pages seem pretty contradictory. Consider my situation: I'm trying to set up an A4 page with the following margins (I use the term margin to mean the space from the edge of the physical paper to the edge of the body text area): top: 2.97cm bottom: 2.97cm left: 2.1cm right: 2.1cm For the moment, I don't care at all about header and footer space, nor notes in the margins; I'm just trying to get the above margins. However, with all conceivable combinations of commands at both of those pages, I've been unable to set anything like this up. Based on the getfo.org page, I should be able to set up these left and right margins with: backspace=2.1cm, cutspace=2.1cm But, looking at the result, and also with using \showlayout (which for some reason, AFAICS, generates four identical pages at the beginning of the document), this quite obviously doesn't do what getfo.org claims. I have also tried setting everything to 0cm with the exception of any random one of the measurements that go into making a margin, which I would set to 2.1cm. No avail here, either. Can someone give me the configuration I would need for the above required margins? Even better, can someone give me the definitive definitions of all the terms used in http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Layout, algebraically rather than as ambiguous tables of "Remarks"? Where to put a module?

Dear listmates, a while ago I made some lua tables to aid myself in transliteration of various scripts. I thought this could be of general interest so I built a module from it and threw in some source documentation and a tiny manual, too. Right now it contains modes for Cyrillic, Glagolitic and Greek scripts, older variants included, full ISO 9 support, and two transcription modes as well. (There's a showcase of examples in the manual.) It allows global setups and local adjustments. It splendidly works for me, but maybe somebody wants to review it before I post it on the list, so whom should I send it to? Where is the cow?

Dear all, maybe a catchy subject line will get attention -:) Indeed, the cow seems to be missing in mk2 and is overly present in mk4 in the sense that my own image cow.jpg within the same directory as the document below gets ignored in favor of the cow that's present in the mk4 minimals. These are minor issues, as it is relatively unlikely that I will need to include images of cows in my documents in the near future. What is bothering me however is my inability to combine figures properly together with text in a controlled manner. I have a bunch ow smallish images (let's call them cows) which I'd like to have surrounded by text. I am happy and actually prefer to do this manually instead of keeping my fingers crossed that some automatic algorithm will do the job, but for that I need to know how which version of ConTeXt is placing the figures. What would work for me: A way to split the text width into chunks that have fixed widths, and fill these chunks individually and vertically with figures or text. This might be possible with tables, but there should be a simpler way. Below are my attempts so far - with very frustrating results, both in mk2 and mk4. bib module, inproceedings & mkii/mkiv incompatibility

Hello Taco, the following example (I need to admit that I'm not sure how to properly cite inproceedings) returns a different result in mkii and mkiv. My citation (the fields I use) is probably a bit wrong, but the results should be the same in my opinion. (Only mkii shows the year, in mkiv there's an extra space; the month is not shown anywhere, pubname is only shown in mkii although it's probably not needed anyway since it's already the title (= booktitle in bibtex?) that takes that role. It's also not really clear to me why I need to use author and not artauthor, but well ...)
