TT font disregards margins

I need to intersperse my text with code typed by someone else and am attempting to give the appearance of the code having been typed on a typewriter. The problem I am encountering is that the Teletyped text does not respect margin settings. What could be done to correct this? (I am running MKII on a Windows system). In-text itemizations break spacing

Hi ConTeXtans, \startitemize[text] is a very cool command, but i run frequently into “Overfull \hbox” errors. It would be nice if some context magicians would change the ~1em-wide space in front of the “•” or “(1.)” to scale and compensate the majority of line width issues. (you can easily chop off or add loads of space to a 1em-space without making it ugly) i hope you dig my idea, Philipp PS: if somebody doesn’t know how \startitemize[text] looks like; about like this: „Formen sind • Überspringen von Exons, • Benutzung alternativer 3’- und 5’-Splice-Stellen, • und alle Kombinationen aus oben genanntem.“ (You’ll need a proportional Font to see this and gmail and the mailing list need to conserve the em quad…)

pstopdf setting lower-case?

Hello, why is the ruby script pstopdf renaming files to lower-case? counter values as label names

Dear list, this seems a really basic question (and probably not even strictly ConTeXt-focused) - so please accept my apologies… I'm trying to construct a macro which first creates two labels in the text (\start/stopline and \pagereference) with the value of a counter as the label name and then a footnote which prints the page and line numbers of those two. Supposedly because of my limited understanding of TeX's expansion mechanism I haven't been able to get things working with this code: \setuplinenumbering[% location=inner, step=5, method=page, style=\tfxx, align=left, distance=1.5cm, width=0.3cm] \setupfootnotes[ location=text, numberconversion=empty, paragraph=yes, ] \definenumber[entrycounter] \setnumber[entrycounter]{0} \def\appentry#1#2{% \startline[line:\getnumber[entrycounter]]% \pagereference[page:\getnumber[entrycounter]]% #1% \stopline[line:\getnumber[entrycounter]]% \footnote{{\bf \at[page:\getnumber[entrycounter]]}% \inline[line:\getnumber[entrycounter]] #1] #2}% \incrementnumber[entrycounter]% } By now I tried to adapt a LaTeX-only-solution which Uwe Lueck suggested on the texhax-mailinglist some years ago (cf. http://tug.org/pipermail/texhax/2006-July/006599.html) but failed quite miserably. I also tried the same with plain TeX registers (\newcount\entrycounter \entrycounter=0 etc.) instead of ConTeXt counters. Could it be easier to stuff the \pagereference and \startline-commands into before= and after= of setupfootnotes? Could anyone please give me a hint on this? The purpose of this: I'm trying to use mkIV's page and linenumbering facilities for a critical apparatus (in this case endnotes with page and line references). As I didn't succeed with Hans Hagen's recent suggestion (cf. http://www.mail-archive.com/ntg-context@ntg.nl/msg49695.html) I tried this quick and dirty way. Although it's far away from being perfect (in an ideal world the endnotes should be grouped into one paragraph per page and of course there would be more then one apparatus and so on) this seems to be a first approach to me… Cheers, Daniel

export and pagebreak

Hi all, first I wish a very happy new year to everybody! I think, this will be my last post for this year, but as i have tasted blood, the next year I will post a lot of further questions I think :-) Now I have Christmas holidays and can play the whole day with ConTeXt. I tested a little the export function. There is one thing I have on my wishlist: is it possible to get a <pagebreak/> into the exported XML? The background is that I have often the requirement to include pagebreak-info in online-productions (for citation reasons) and that could be a very good starting point. In fact, in the moment at the position where a pagebreak occurs, the space (if it occurs at a space) is eaten up. Minimal example: \setupbackend [export=yes] \starttext \startchapter [title=Tufte Example] \startparagraph \dorecurse{10}{\input tufte} \stopparagraph \stopchapter \stoptext At the break of pg 2 to pg 3 you will find lump,skip (without the space) in the exported file. Having the pagebreaks would be a great thing for me. Greetings Achim

Hello, I am using the default implementation of TeXLive 2010 which provides MetaPost 1.211 on Windows 7. I'm getting a fatal error on texnum.mp on the simplest possible use of graph. Here is the simplest possible test case that shows the error: input graph end Here is the error message I get. I am using the folowing code: \def\UsePageNumbers{ \setuplayout[pagenumbers] \setupfootertexts[Page \pagenumber \space of \lastpage] } The number of pages is displayed correctly, but the pagenumber is always 1. What am I doing wrong? -- Cecil Westerhof

Working with conditionals

I have the folowing function for a title: \def\Title[#1]{ \testpage[10] \startalignment[center] { \blank[2*big] \switchtobodyfont[1.5em] \bf\em#1 } \blank \stopalignment } What I would like is that there is an optional second parameter. When it is there, it is used in the testpage command. Otherwise the default value is used. How would I do this? -- Cecil Westerhof

How to use boxit MetaPost macros with ConTeXt minimals?

Hi, I'd like to use the boxit MetaPost macros with ConTeXt minimals. Is there a way to tackle this or do I need the chart module for that. Am I right in saying that the boxit macros give more flexibility compared to the chart module? Or is it just a matter of taste? Regards, Gerard Verhaag

How to get graph module (metapost) to work with ConTeXt minimals?

Hi, This might not be the right place to ask this question, but want to give it a try anyway! I've installed the ConTeXt minimals (Mark IV!) recently, and running the command: context --version yields the following output: ... MTXrun | current version: 2010.07.30 11:35 Now I want to generate a few plots using the graph-module (by John D. Hobby) of MetaPost, which I used in the past to make high-quality plots. But when I add the following statement: input graph ; to the preamble of my MetaPost file and run the command: mpost plot.mp The run aborts with the following messages: >> texnum.mp >> texnum.mpx ! Unable to make mpx file. l.17 init_numbers(btex $-$etex, btex$1$etex, btex${\times}10$etex, Transcript written on texnum.log. TeXExec | processing graphic 'texnum.mpx' TeXExec | runtime: 1.547143 >> texnum.mp >> texnum.mpx ! Unable to make mpx file. l.17 init_numbers(btex $-$etex, btex$1$etex, btex${\times}10$etex, Transcript written on plot.log. So where to go from here?
