Hi list, after an upgrade to latest beta today ConTeXt mkiv is failing with ! Digits-Module in tabulate does not work

Hi, I'm using the digit-module and enjoy, that I get a nice output using the following: \starttext \digits{30e-3} \stoptext instead of \starttext $30 \cdot 10^{-3}$ or $30 ⋅ 10^{-3}$ \stoptext But now I'm wondering why this module does not work in the tabulate-environment with: \starttabulate[|l|l] \HL \NC first \NC second \AR \HL \NC \digits{30e-3}\NC \digits{30e+3} \AR \HL \stoptabulate In the pdf-file now appears only 30e-3. verbatim text in MkIV and \installprettytype...

Recently, I tried to typeset some verbatim MATLAB source codes in MkIV, but I can't seem to be able to grasp the concept of pretty printers. All the sample codes I found on the net/wiki/mailing list don't compile, complaining that "\installprettytype" is an unknown command...?! Is there any module I have to load first or something I missed in the wiki? Or can anyone provide me with a minimalistic example? Best regards, Julian

[metafun] MPenvironment / font switching

Hi all, I’m struggling with the font used in metapost. The only way to actually change it appears to be enclosing the mp graphic in two statements of \setupbodyfont[…] -- which I need to avoid. In the following example, the background text should be typeset (drawn) as lm sans, whereas the main font should be left untouched (serif). ································································· \startMPenvironment %[global] \switchtobodyfont[sans] %\setupbodyfont[sans] \stopMPenvironment %\start\setupbodyfont[sans] \startuseMPgraphic{bg} verbatimtex \setupbodyfont[sans] etex ; draw btex I wanna get rid of those serifs! etex xysized (21cm, 5cm) withcolor blue ; \stopuseMPgraphic \definelayer[bg][x=0,y=0,width=\paperwidth,height=\paperheight] \setlayer[bg]{% %\setupbodyfont[sans] \useMPgraphic{bg} } \setupbackgrounds[paper][background=bg] \setupbackgrounds[state=repeat] %\stop \starttext \dorecurse{42}{I’d really like to keep my serifs! } \stoptext ································································· Wrapping the mp code inside a group is fatal. \[start|stop]MPenvironment doesn’t seem to have an effect at all unless called with the “global” flag -- in which case it will change the main body font as well. \activatespacehandler

Hi, \activatespacehandler{on} does not work in MkIV. I guess that this is because \controlspace does not give the right glyph in MkIV, possibly because, in opentype fonts, \char 32 is the same as regular space. Any idea how to fix this? Is there a unicode character for visible space. A discussion on the xetex mailing list suggests http://www.tug.org/pipermail/xetex/2006-February/003095.html 0x2423, but that looks very different from \tt\char 32. Aditya

Yes, I make sure that the Adobe Song Std.otf is in /usr/share/fonts/adobe and OSFONTDIR is director to /usr/share/fonts/adboe

XeLaTeX or ConTeXt?

I'm still wrestling with this issue of doing InDesign-like documents. Does ConTeXt provide a way to simulate multiple "stories" or flows of text? For example, suppose I have a newspaper with two articles on page 1. One of them continues on page 2, and the other on page 3. Is there a way to do that? Alternatively, I could consider plain TeX or LuaTeX, but I know very little about either of those. I'm prepared to learn, but I'd like to get some hints about what seems like the likliest path to produce this kind of document. Is there a way to get this multiple story, automatic overflow effect with ConTeXt? Layers seem a little like text frames, but I don't see anything about overflow. What about copyfitting? Wrapping around irregular shapes? I've looked at the ConTeXt docs, but it seems mostly to be a different way to get the same effects as LaTeX, rather than a way to get a whole new range of effects. Unwanted change of paper size; extra opt for \externalfigure

Hello, see the following example: ---- \starttext AAA \startTEXpage \rotate[rotation=-90]{\externalfigure[Model.pdf]} \stopTEXpage % Paper size is 297 * 297 mm from now?! BBB \stoptext ---- Why the last paper size becomes 297 x 297 mm? Suggestion: Wouldn't be good to have an option "rotation" (among "scale", "factor", width"...) to rotate the inserted figure, at least in multiples of 90 degrees?
