Struggling with ConTeXt

Hello I'm trying to port a big 300+ pages math course full of macros from plain XeTEX to ConTeXt mark IV (ubuntu 12.04+ stand alone beta) and I'm having some difficulties, could you please help ? My questions : 1) does lxml.att("#1","some tag") really work ? the next snipet doesn't work for me: \startluacode function set(node) p = lxml.att(node,"p") -- or p = lxml.att(lxml.id(node),"p") end \stopluacode \startxmlsetups xml:section \ctxlua{set("#1")} \stopxmlsetups it looks like it returns the p attribute of the node before #1 the following snipet works though (which is strange because I looked in the context source and it gives \def\xmlatt#1#2{\ctxlua{lxml.att("#1","#2")}}...) \startxmlsetups xml:section \ctxlua{p = \xmlatt{"#1","p"}} \stopxmlsetups 2) I'm trying to export to xml and have set \setupbackend[export=yes, xhtml=yes, css=mkiv-export.css] But a) my Metafun/Tikz pictures aren't exported to svg :/ b) the exported xml has namespaces problems (like error on line 63 at column 20: Namespace prefix m on math is not defined error on line 64 at column 22: Namespace prefix m on mrow is not defined) What am I doing wrong ? (I'm compiling with "context mydoc.tex") Is there some \csname tex4ht\endcsname command or some other directive that I should use to get my xml export right ? Am I missing some namespace commands (there are lots of m:math and m:mrow mathml tags int the exported xml source, this smells like a tex4ht issue) 3) I have defined some framed text with metafun overlays (like in the Context manual) and I'm trying to type something like \inmargin{some label} \startMyFramedText...\stopMyFramedText Yet, the text in the margin is after the framed text :( (fiddling with the "location" setting (low, ..) doesn't allow me to have the in margin text right next the top of the framed text I somehow found a dirty workaround with typing a blank space \defineframedtext[Property][frame=off,background=OverlayProperty,before={}] and \inmargin{some label}\noindent\startMyFramedText...\stopMyFramedText but it's not really satisfying. (hate to lose vertical space with wandering blank spaces) Is there a better way ? 4) I'm trying to port the following TeX code to ConTeXt $$\eqalign{x&=1\cr y&=2\cr}\qquad \hbox{haha}$$ it looks like \startformula\startalign.. doesn't allow me to do that I somehow managed to have it by typing \startformula \vcenter{\starttabular[|rM|lM|] \NC x \NC =1\NC\NR \NC y \NC =2\NC\NR \stoptabular}\qquad\text{haha} \stopformula the pdf export is fine, but the xml export is awfull (because of \vcenter I guess) a) Is there a way to use tables inside math mode alongside other stuff (would be handy) ? b) what is the correct way to type the previous text, so the pdf and xml are fine in Context ? subformulas: error in latest beta

Dear all, I am having problems with subformulas. Stable versions of MkIV

Hi all, The "current stable" MkIV, the MkIV on the wiki, and the MkIV in TeX Live are quite different things. MkIV 2011.005.18 -- result of first-setup.sh --current MkIV 2011.10.008 -- version on the wiki MkIV 2012.005.29 -- version in TeX Live 2012, AFAICT (Mojca?) 1. Why not declare the version in TeX Live to be stable? I know Mojca puts some work into making it as bug-free as possible. 2. Perhaps have the MkIV on the wiki track the MkIV in TeXlive? We can show off reasonably-recent features, it looks more up-to-date, it's a nice clear answer to "should we update already?", and it ensures that we update to reasonably bug-free versions. 3. Is there a list of past stable versions somewhere? I can't find one, and without it the ability to go to a specific stable version with `sh ./first-setup.sh --context=date` seems a bit useless. (Can't really imagine a use in general, though.) 4. (Less important.) context.mkiv defines \contextversion as e.g. `2012.08.11 14:11`, but \contextversionnumber in mult-ini.mkiv still prepends a zero to the month or day. (It checks whether 08 < 10, which is true even if the leading zero is present.) This causes the extra zeros you saw in the version numbers above. Can this be changed without breakage ensuing? I expect that nobody depends on it over the more direct \contextversion. (People that do use \contextversionnumber have a problem anyway, because the version strings it produces in October-December will always turn out 'earlier/older' than the ones produced in January-September, regardless of year.) test for (negative) number

Hi, I used '\doifnumberelse' to validate some macro parameters (angle). Sadly it does not work with negative numbers. Is there a similar macro, that also supports negative values? Example: \doifnumberelse {45}{yes}{no}% yes \doifnumberelse{-45}{yes}{no}% no Greetings, Peter

Runtime Error (TeXLive and ConTeXt )

TeXLive Version: 2012 ("--all" updated to August 20th, 2012) Platform: CYGWIN_NT-6.0 1.7.16(0.262/5/3) 2012-07-20 22:55 The attempted command which ends in an error is: texexec -o pdf 659-water-stations.tex This results in: "PANIC: unprotected error in call to Lua API (zlib library version does not match - header: 1.2.5, library: 1.2.7)" However /usr/include/zlib.h is for version 1.2.7, not the 1.2.5 mentioned in the error message. Any idea of how to fix this, so I can run ConTexT? Thanks for any and all help.

How to know in which page I'm?

Problem with SETUPTEX and KSH93

Hello, I'm new to ConTeXt, and I find it great! I've done the standalone installation on my Linux box. For many reasons, I don't use bash, but ksh since all my customers are using ksh as there shell. Nevertheless, the setuptex is not working for me. Of course it works if I say . ~/context/tex/setuptex ~/context/tex But I would like to have it in the short form: . ~/context/tex/setuptex So for that in ksh, I needed to correct the setuptex like that: line 99: if [ z"$BASH_SOURCE" != z ]; then SCRIPTPATH="$BASH_SOURCE" else if [ z"${.sh.version}" != z ]; then SCRIPTPATH="${.sh.file}" else SCRIPTPATH="$0" fi fi And now, it works for ksh93, and all the other shells should be unaffected. Would it be possible to correct it? Or if someone has a better idea, then I'm also ok, as long as it works for ksh. Sincerely yours, Alessandro Perucchi

running context mcommon.tex

Downloaded and installed context minimal in my user directory. Ran setuptex mktexlsr texexec --make --alone and so on. Now I want to process the manual mcommon.tex. I tried context mcommon.tex. I got lots of messages but no pdf file. In the same directory I ran context mreadme.tex and that processed ok. Do I need some special parameter for mcommmon.tex? I tried some --mode parameters but none seemed to help.
